SPOILER WARNING: This contains spoilers for the fanfic "The 2nd try" by JimmyWolk. So If you haven't read that then you should definitely stop right here and check that out first.

Summary:

Asuka wakes up to find to her surprise that her Baka Shinji had left his marks on her from their passionate night before.

"Love Bites"

It was still a bit early in the morning when Asuka arose from her slumber. Despite wanting to stay in bed a bit longer, her stomach was all but growling for food plus it wouldn't be long till Aki woke up and the little critter would wake up her parents for the same thing anyway. So Asuka fought the urge to go back to sleep and got out of bed, when she also noticed her nakedness and promptly put on some clothes.

She was slightly surprised to see that Shinji was still soundly asleep next to her though then again considering how wild they had gone at it with their lovemaking last night she wasn't surprised.

Even though their daughter Aki was no longer a baby, thus no longer waking them up every night for feeding, there were nights that Aki would want to cuddle and sleep with them or when the little girl would have a bad dream or the most common being that both her and Shinji would be soo tired and physically drained that sex would be last thing on their minds by the day's end.

So both her and Shinji treasured any opportunity they could get though they were also very careful to use protection as well as her keeping track of her periods.

While they had more or less done a good job so far with raising Aki, they were still not ready yet to bring another child to into the world. Both she and Shinji agreed to wait for awhile before making that decision.

Rising out of bed and putting on some clothes, Asuka walked out of the bedroom and straight into the kitchen and started making breakfast. As she started cooking some eggs and putting some slices of bread in the toaster she chuckled slightly to herself, remembering how long ago she considered herself above doing something as mundane as cooking, preferring that Shinji cook her everything all the time instead.

She grimaced at the memories of her many failed attempts to cook in the past. Shinji being her loveable idiot still ate those attempts (even when a few of those made him sick afterwards) but after swallowing her pride she asked Shinji to teach her how to cook. The times of her being taught by Shinji on the basics of cooking were fun, even more so remembering when the two of them would simply forget about cooking and simply indulge in touching each other, among doing other naughty things to each other.

It was now becoming clear that every memory was ending in the same conclusion of her and Shinji going wild with each other, or more accurately her instigating most of it.

"Jesus when did I become the more perverted one in this relationship?" Asuka said out loud to herself and was thankful that no one was around to give her an answer.

Just as she was finished cooking the eggs Asuka heard the sound of small footsteps, and before she could turn to see felt her bottom leg being hugged by her baby.

"Guten Morgen, Mama!" Aki shouted happily, beaming up at her mother.

"Guten Morgen, mein Schätzchen," Asuka greeted back, looking down at her little sunshine who was already so full of youthful energy in the morning. "You ready to have breakfast?" Asuka asked to which Aki rapidly nodded her head before the girl detached from her mothers leg and went to take a seat near the kitchen table.

Asuka had finished placing the breakfast on each of the three plates, picking up Aki's share first and placing it in front of her, along with her kid knife and fork. "Here you go, Schätzchen."

"Danke schön, Mama," Aki said, remembering her manners, something that her parents kept reminding her to do lately before she happily started eating into her breakfast.

Asuka looked at her daughter as she ate for a moment, remembering not so long ago that Aki was just a little baby that could barely feed herself, now the age of three is happily munching down her foods all on her own. Asuka felt both motherly pride as well as a tiny bit sad that her baby girl was growing up faster then she and Shinji had expected. Her stomach growled slightly and shaking her head Asuka set up her own breakfast on her plate before sitting down at the kitchen table.

She just started eating when she noticed Aki had stopped eating and stared at her, looking confused at first before she tilted her head before looking concerned.

"What is it, Aki?" Asuka asked.

"Mama, are you ok? Are you hurt or sick?" Aki asked, her concern ever growing by the second.

"Of course I'm ok, Aki. Why do you think that?" Asuka questioned.

"You got red marks on your neck," Aki told her Mama while pointing at her own neck to emphasise where the suppose injury is on her Mama's own neck.

Asuka looked confused for a moment before getting up and finding a nearby mirror. Looking at her reflection she took a closer look at her neck. What she saw made her slightly gasp before she instinctively covered the red bruise on her neck with her hand. Yes, there was a mark on her neck, a hickey to be exact.

"Mama, are you really ok?" Aki's voice was heard from directly behind her. Apparently having gotten up and followed her mother to the mirror out of concern.

Oh mein Gott, this was so embarrassing Asuka thought. Damn that Baka, giving me this. Removing her hand on her neck she inspected it a bit before noticing something else before gasping again.

It turned out that the hickey on her neck wasn't the only one as Asuka noticed that there were a couple on her chest, mainly one on the upper part of her left breast and one below her right, one on her shoulder and upon lifting her shirt to see her belly she saw one near her belly button.

"Mama! Mama, say something!" Aki raising her voice a bit after her mother's non-response. Asuka turned back to her daughter and was desperately trying to come up with a solution to tell Aki.

Come on, come on, Asuka! Think! Think! You're a collage graduate for crying out loud. Maybe telling the truth is the best option? No, no, no, definitely not, as Aki is still way to young to know about that kind of stuff.

Come on there's got to be a way to…That's it! Asuka came to a realisation before turning back and kneeling down to Aki's level.

"Hey! Hey, it's ok Schätzchen," Asuka said in a calming voice to ease her daughter's worry. "It's nothing to worry about honestly. The red marks are just bug bites," Asuka explained.

Aki's face now changed to a look of worry to one of confusion. "Bug bites?"

"Yep, these are bug bites, Schätzchen. Me and Papa had the bedroom window open wide last night due to the heat and I guess an annoying bug decided to come in and bite Mama," Asuka explained, slightly stretching the white lie a bit and praying that her daughter would accept it without further question.

"I don't like bugs, especially the ones that bite us," Aki said while having a little frown on her face, one which Asuka couldn't help but find cute and funny, but she was also thankful to the heavens that Aki believed her little white lie.

"Couldn't agree more, Schätzchen. So when I see that 'bug' that bit me I'll give it a swat for good measure," Asuka told Aki which made the little girl giggle. "Anyway you get back to eating breakfast while I'll go get Papa's lazy butt out of bed," Asuka finished while getting up from her knees and walking towards her room, more then prepared to keep her promise to smack her 'bug' of a husband for giving her such marks.

"Ok Mama!" Aki said before going back to her chair at the kitchen table.

Asuka continued towards the bedroom and upon entering she saw that Shinji was still in bed sleeping underneath the covers. So keeping her promise to herself and her daughter she raised her hand before smacking the Baka over his head.

"Ouch!" Shinji who was in the middle of a very nice dream suddenly felt the pain over his head and abruptly woke up, bolting up from the bed, confused for a second before seeing his wife standing over him with her trademark look of annoyance and hands on her hips. One he knew all too well, meaning he did something wrong to upset her.

"Asuka! What was that for?" Shinji asked.

"Well Baka because you gave me er…." Asuka ended of trailing off while her look of annoyance turned to look of disbelief and shock, especially after getting a good look at her husband.

It turns out that Asuka did more to Shinji during their throws of passion than he did giving her the hickeys. All over his naked body, from parts of his face, shoulders and chest and arms, he was covered in literal bite marks on, all caused by her.

"Um…Asuka what wrong?" Shinji asked still clearly confused and unaware on his wife's current behaviour and the situation. Asuka on the overhand was once again rapidly trying to come up with another excuse to tell Aki as she was bound to notice her Papa's marks on him.

Maybe just maybe Aki would perhaps also believe that a wild animal had gotten into their bedroom and bitten Papa in his sleep also. Right…right!?

Notes:

This chapter was inspired by the work "Happy End of Evangelion" Doujinshi by Pengel/Michiru Shiduki, where on one particular two page snippet had the same premise of Shinji having left hickeys on Asuka but she discovers she had literally left bite marks on him as a result. So its my small tribute to that particular funny bit.
