Deep within the Hokage monument is a single room far from peeping eyes.
In this room is Naruto Uzumaki. After getting access to his family sealing scrolls, he spent three months on end studying them.
On top of the four months, it took for Hiruzen to bypass the city council restriction on the scrolls.
He hoped all that time wouldn't go to waste. But, instead, he is attempting something that has never been done before, as far as anyone knows.
He will summon the death god himself, hoping to get Kurama's other half from his stomach.
Before them is a large circle with a pentagon. On each corner was a scroll filled to the brim with one of the five chakra natures.
In between each elemental chakra are various kanji characters, outlined by multiple runes.
Inside the pentagon is a yin yang symbol.
Each dot held a scroll, one filled with yin chakra the other yang chakra.
Besides Naruto and his squad, Tenzo, and Cat, along with the Hokage.
He places his hand on the edge of the ritual circles, "fingers crossed, everyone!" Naruto shouts, using his chakra to activate this summoning jutsu.
The five scrolls containing the five elemental chakras all glowed their respective colors before being destroyed.
In their place are tiny spheres. All the outside runes and Kanji marks glow white.
The yin and yang symbol glows with the two scrolls burning before being destroyed, leaving the respective chakras' sphere.
The yin and yang symbols began to rotate, increasing their speed every second.
As the yin and yang chakras chased each other, they left tails.
As they get faster, their tails get longer and longer till the two fuses into one.
They slowly sink into the ground causing the yin and yang to rotate.
As its rotation increases, the line between light and dark begins to meld together.
It started to glow white before the dark spot formed in the center, eventually replacing all the white.
Everyone could feel chill in the air, but at the same time, confronting.
Slowly a new entity rose from the center of the circle.
It is what they assume is the death god himself.
It was massive, wearing a white robe with long spiky white hair, red horns, and long sharp teeth. In its jaws is a small sword.
Everyone was on edge as they stood before the death god.
Naruto carefully stood up, removing his anbu mask. Then, with all his will, he spoke the words, "are you the death, god?"
The entity nods in response wanting to know why the mortal summed him to the physical realm.
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I summoned you here in the hope to retrieve the nine tails fox Yin half in your belly." Just as he finished those words, he activated Kurama chakra enveloping him in Golden chakra.
"You have a lot of nerve summoning me here, boy," the death god said in a deep, commanding, but soothing tone.
"Is it possible for me to retrieve Kurama's Yin half?'' he said, not backing down matching the death god's gaze.
The death god just chuckled, "you are either incredibly brave or stupid with that defiant attitude, boy!"
"Answer the question!" He spat. He came too far to turn back now.
"Hmm, yes, I can free the soul housing his chakra, but what will you give me in return?" It said with a sickly sweet voice.
Naruto finally broke eye contact as he tried to think of something to trade.
Just then, Anko walks into the room, wanting to see the death god herself.
She's eating some Dango before locking eyes with the Death God.
The death god locked eyes with her. This put everyone on edge, thinking He wanted Anko's soul.
Anko waves the Dango stick around herself, wanting to know if it was her he is staring at.
The death god eyes tracked the sweets, not wavering in the slightest.
A smirk graced Naruto's face after seeing this. "I see you're interested in dango. Care to enlighten me?"
The death god shifted his gaze to Naruto with a slightly annoyed expression.
"I've heard from the souls of the dead that it's a delicacy." He said with a neutral tone wanting to keep his desire for the sweets a secret.
"You give me Kurama's other half in exchange. I can give you all the Dango you want!"
It reluctantly responded, "what's the catch?" He knew mortals always add a string or two to a deal.
"You can only have a fixed amount per day since Dango costs mortal money that you don't have!"He said with a sly grin.
Neither Naruto nor the death god spoke a word for five minutes.
The Death Gods Torso then neck started spazzing out, Before noticing a bulge rise through its neck before spitting a blue glob.
It caught the blue glob. It slowly morphed into a humanoid shape only to reveal none other than the fourth Hokage himself.
But the death god used his hair to keep him tethered to this realm.
"W-what happened? Where am I?" He looks around the room only to lock eyes with his son and Hiruzen.
"Naruto, Hiruzen, what 's going on?" They point behind him.
He turns only to see the death god staring him down.
"Your son summoned me to the physical world, requesting The nine tails fox Yin half inside your soul!"
He looks back to his son with a smile "ok," this floored everyone at how casual he was.
The death god just rolled his eyes, debating if he should just eat him again and leave.
The death god points to Naruto, telling him to get closer.
He slowly inched his way closer to the death god, a bit scared. Understandable when you summon the death god himself.
Then Minato's soul suddenly shrinks down to a small orb, only for the death god to tap Naruto in the chest.
Then the blue orb was absorbed by Naruto's body.
"What just happened?" That was all Naruto said.
"I just transferred Minato soul with the nine tail yin half into you. So now you hold both halves of the nine tails chakra."
"Cool, but what about my father's soul?"
"Hm, since you are brave enough to summon me here, I'll allow his souls to remain with you however long you desire." Naruto was confused at this.
"Naruto!" He looks to the third Hokage wanting answers.
"Ah, you mind explaining?"
"It is simple, you have impressed the death god by summoning him to our world presumably because of your age and determination. Not only did he return Kurama Yin half of his chakra, but he also lets you keep your father's souls for however long you want." He responded with a proud grin.
"Sweet! But what about dango? No offense, Death god, I don't want to go through all this work again to give you Dango as this took me over a month to get ready!"
"Hold out your left arm."
He reluctantly holds his hand out. The death god grabs hold of it only for his curse mark to transfer over to Naruto.
He lets out screams in pain, causing everyone to freak out, hoping Naruto will be ok.
When he let go, Naruto collapsed to the ground before taking a minute to get back on his feet.
He looks to his arm to see a yin yang symbol on the palm of his left hand.
Strange marks up his forearm, the peculiar patterns receded to his palm before disappearing along with the yin yang symbol.
"That will allow you to summon me to this word to hold up your end of our bargain."
"No offense, but a will you…."
"He wants to know what form you will take when he summons you here!" Hiruzen explained.
"I will take a human form!" That was all he said before sinking back down through the portal.
"So that's what the death god looks like," Anko said casually, causing everyone to floor themselves once again before leaving the room.
"Did anyone else pick up on the fact Naruto has to summon the death god so he can eat dango!" Deidara pointed out.
"I did," Naruto responded.
"Ok, I wasn't sure if my mind was playing tricks on me." He said with a sigh.
The marking on Naruto's arms came back. He had the instructive desire to slam his hand on the ground.
He did only for white summoning marks to form, followed up by smoke.
Once it was clear, it revealed a tall, lean man in a white robe with a sword on his side with spiky white hair.
"Come on. I want Dango!" He said, dragging Naruto Behind him.
The others followed suit, wanting to see this for themselves.
One hour later
Naruto and his squadmates are in their off-duty gear sitting at one table with the presumed death god.
The following table in their off-duty gear is Tenzo and Cat or Yamato and Yugao with the Hokage.
Right now, the death god in a human form was eating Dango with Naruto sitting beside him, not knowing what to do.
"Is it as good as you hoped!" He said, trying to hide his nervousness.
"Better" was all he said before taking another bite.
"What the total up to now, miss?" Naruto asked the waitress.
"Hmm, 1000, ryo!" Everyone's eye widen at that number
Naruto immediately took the last Dango out of the guy's hand.
"500 ryo a week is your limit; otherwise, I'm gonna be broke fast if you go any higher!"
The death god just glared at him before conceding to his reasoning.
The death god got up to walk outside the shop, going to an alley away from the public eye.
"Um, what do I call you while you're in this form," he said with a nervous smile.
"Hmm, Dean will do since it's close to a death god," he replied.
"Works for me. Do I need to do this every day? Also, hypothetically someone used the death god sealing jutsu. What happens to me?" He still held his nervous smile.
"Hmm, at least once a week, assuming you're not on a mission since you are a ninja and nothing would happen to you, so you're good!" That was all he said before doing a release hand sign disappearing in a poof of smoke.
When he walks back to the others, they all have an expecting look in their eyes.
"Well, it seems this mark gives me the ability to summon him so he can eat dango for well, you know." They nodded in response.
"Since I got Kurama yin half and my father's soul is with me…."
"We understand, Naruto," Hiruzen answered.
"I want to see this old man of yours!" Deidara throws in, getting nods from Kukiko.
"Fine, meet me at my place," and he was off with his sister and friend right behind him.
Once they returned to his place, Naruto sat down in the lotus position holding out his hand to bump chakra.
Once inside his mind, Deidara and Kukiko are met with Kurama and Minato, the Fourth Hokage.
"So these must be your friends, Naruto?"
"The blonde is Deidara, and the white-haired girl is Kukiko...she is basically my sister in all but blood to me," he said with a nervous smile.
Minato chuckles at his tone "it's ok, Naruto, I understand. If you allow me, she's the daughter I never had and can attest Kushina would be delighted at this news!" He said with a grin.
"Thanks, dad!"
He sat down beside them, wanting to learn more about Naruto's friend and sister.
The whole time Kurama had an impatient look in his eyes before letting out a snort.
"Oh right, sorry, Kurama," Minato said with a nervous chuckle.
Minato bumps his chakra to Kurama's. As a result, his body was suddenly enveloped in golden chakra before transferring it to the fox spirit.
Kurama suddenly doubled in size with a proud smile, happy to be at full power.
"Um, how is Naruto able to hold all his power since you sealed half away for a reason?" Kukiko asked boldly
"Since the seal is gone and they are….friends, I guess?"
"I wouldn't call us friends. But, we have a mutual agreement," Naruto added.
This got a curious look from the former Kage.
"Sometimes when we have….a disagreement, he cuts me off from his power," He said with nervousness getting a snicker from the fox spirit.
"Again, how is Naruto able to hold all his power?"
"Kurama and Naruto chakra are in sync with each other. If not, that seal would be necessary to keep the balance."
"Dad, you're gonna have to use simple words, no offense!"
"No problem Naruto."
"Since we're not enemies anymore, Naruto doesn't have to use his own chakra to suppress mine. That is why he can hold my full power!"
"Ok, that makes sense, Kurama," she said with a nervous smile very similar to Naruto's.
"Kushina, if you were here now..." Minato thought to himself.
They ask him various questions before Naruto calls it a night since he can have a killer headache.
He still has trouble understanding why he gets a headache when this happens.
His squad did various tasks from hospital detail, Station at the village walls, and so on.
And the occasional B-rank mission, for the three A-rank if tenzo and cat join them.
Naruto wasn't just studying his family's scrolls over the past few months.
He continued to get a better understanding of Kurama's power.
One such thing was reading the emotions of other people. The only hitch is he can only detect negative emotions like hate and anger.
Recently he learned to tell if someone has less than stellar intentions.
And the occasional visit from Yukino ironically helped refine this ability.
That she can double-check if his reading is correct.
That was never more valuable when he did the occasional visit to the academy to see if any students could be in the Anbu.
In one of these visits, he detected some malice in a chunin instructor named Mizuki.
He reluctantly asked Yukino to give him a hand on this one.
Thanks to the transformation of jutsu, he was able to get close to chunin.
A good portion of the chunin and most jonin are aware of Naruto's status as a ninja.
So they followed him one day to a tavern not too far away, allowing Yukino to gauge the chunin.
He was correct about Mizuki's dark side, so he took this information to Hiruzen.
If it were any other person besides Yukino who brought this up, he would be skeptical.
Just for good measure, he needs a mind read on him. So he gave it to his anbu.
In the dead of night, they captured him, allowing Inoichi to confirm Yukino's words.
He was sent to a maximum-security prison where he will likely spend the rest of his days.
A few days later
Today was a special day. It was the academy graduation exams.
Word is Kakashi got yet another squad he's bound to fail like all the others.
Naruto was curious about all the kids from his class, so he observed them from the shadows.
During the now three years in Anbu, his birthday was a few months ago, making him 13 years old.
During this time, he became a master at stealth and infiltration.
His small size helps since he's lighter in weight, meaning he is lighter on his feet and footstep.
He carefully observed them through various hidden tunnels in the walls of the academy.
His father and Kurama throw their two ryo at what they saw.
As he watched, he learned that Kakashi's team consists of Sakura, Sasuke, and Sai.
He was surprised that the Hokage would send them Sai of all people.
He wouldn't say they are friends from the time they spent with each other in the past, but he can be casual.
Then he noticed the other teams consisting of clan heads.
He saw team eight is Kiba with his dog Akamaru, Hinata and Shino.
He was on edge thanks to his short size and their potentially great tracking abilities.
He just hopes he doesn't cross paths with them more than necessary.
He wouldn't put it past the Jiji to have him interact with him.
He found out a few months back he set him up with Gai's team to connect with shinobi close to his age.
Speaking of team Gai, he had to do a mission with his team once a month.
It mainly consists of subbing for Gai when he is on a mission with his fellow jonin's.
Then, of course, there is Yukino. His living hell didn't take the Hokage long to use those jobs as a means to keep him and younger shinobi in line.
He has to do a job at least once a month guarding her.
Fortunately, it isn't so bad that his sister and best friend Deidara help him out.
Eventually, this created a downside. Yukino and Kukiko became the best of friends.
The first jonin to show up is Kurenai picking up her squad.
He doesn't know why, but he decided to follow them to see how they have grown since he left and became Anbu.
He used every trick he learned to keep hidden from them.
The one that concerns him the most is Hinata's byakugan.
Bugs and scents he can deal with efficiently, X-ray vision not so much.
He saw something that piqued his interest, Kiba's beast mimicry jutsu allowing Akamaru to do Kiba clan taijutsu.
Kurama had an amused expression at this, wondering what jutsu Naruto will come up with next.
Minato had a curious expression from Kurama's change in Demeanor.
He gladly filled him in on Naruto's gift of analyzing and breaking down jutsu to fit his needs.
The fourth Hokage had a proud smile after hearing this.
"His chakra types are wind and lightning," the fox added.
"Really, now what jutsu has he created from them?"
He gave him a brief rundown on the jutsu he created since he joined the Anbu.
Minato followed up, "I wonder what his third will be, assuming he gets one?"
"Only time will tell," he replied.
Natsu has a slight headache from this before tapping his head so they can quiet down.
He returned to watching and studying them, making notes of anything that sticks out.
His anbu training tells him to gather and compile intelligence to form a plan.
He continued observing them for another hour before heading back to the academy.
He wants to see how the other squads are doing.
No surprise Kakashi's squad is still waiting for him, and he just missed Asuma picking up his team.
Not long after, Kakashi finally showed up, time to see if they meet his standards.
By this time, Deidara has caught up to Naruto. He wanted to see if this new squad has what it takes.
Getting close enough to listen without being detected is easy for Naruto.
Deidara, however, is a different story. He found a compromise, placing a radio mic piece in one of his clay creators, in this case, a spider.
Creating a creature with his special clay using a fraction of chakra needed for explosives released was tricky to pull off.
After practicing, he figured it out. Now he and his squad can gather intelligence or listen in without the fear of being discovered.
He adds just enough chakra in them that if they are spotted or captured will only destroy the mic implanted in them.
When his clay spider was done, he had it hangs just under the edge of the building ceiling.
Kakashi Is right on top of it as he leans against the metal fence.
Both Anbu agents had the radio mic tuned to the clay spider. They chuckled at Sakura's answers.
Sasuke made them cringe and express concern for his mental state.
Last but not least, Sai likes drawing, hates traitors, and his dream for the future is to have friends.
Both Naruto and Deidara smirked at this, knowing the training Danzo put on his subordinates.
Kakashi told them where to meet the next day before shunshinned away.
Later that day, the two met up with Sai in their off-duty gear.
"So we heard you were put on a genin team!" Naruto asked with a grin.
"How's your brother doing, Sai?" Deidara added.
"He's doing fine, thanks to Naruto and Kurama!" He said with a genuine smile.
"As mentioned, it isn't a permanent solution. However, it should buy Shin more time." He reasoned.
"What is he up to right now?" Deidara asked.
"Still with the medical core hoping to find a cure for his illness."
"Well, a good thing both of you are out of Danzo's control!" Naruto said with a bit of venom.
Deidara and Sai shared their reasoning. Despite being disbanded, they were still active in the shadows.
"Well, that's all we wanted to know since your squad leader is Kakashi…" he trailed off.
"I know, Naruto," he waved them off as he left.
Deidara faces Naruto, "so what's next on the agenda?"
Naruto's left arm was covered in strange markings before summoning Dean.
"Of course!" His responses.
The trio headed to the nearest dango shop, where Naruto reminded him of his limited, getting a slightly annoyed look in the death god's eyes.
Once that was done, they called it a day well for Deidara, that is.
Naruto was deep in thought after witnessing Kiba and Akamaru human and beast Mimicry jutsu.
"What on your mind, Kit?" Minato had an amused expression when he heard the Nickname he gave Naruto.
"I wonder...would it be possible to create a clone giving you control?"
Neither of his tenants spoke a word as they pondered Naruto's question.
"Well, since there is no longer a seal separating you and Kurama, it should make it easier," Minato stated.
"The thing that has me worried is the durability of the clone. I don't want to make it only for a light hit, dispelling it!"
"True, it would be a waste of time and chakra," Kurama added.
"I hate to say this, but you might need to look into the shadow clone jutsu," Minato added once again.
"I really hope it can help me out, but first, I need rest. Then, if I know Kakashi Senpai, he is going to do the bell test." He said with a light chuckle.
Knowing Kakashi, he wasn't worried about missing his genin squad starting their test soon.
Naruto went to the library, where he procured a book on the chakra network.
After doing some digging, he found the book in question.
He spent over an hour reading and rereading it. He wanted to make sure he understood this jutsu.
He would get to work in this new jutsu, which will have to wait till later.
He wants to see the show of Kakashi testing another genin squad.
In his anbu gear with his squad mates stood at the edge of the training ground.
They must find a spot high enough to get a good view of the show.
They weren't alone. Word spread about Kakashi's new genin squad.
It wasn't long before they started making bets. But, of course, some are saying he'll fail them like all the others.
Others were making bets of who would be tied to a post.
But that is enough about bets from what they've seen. The bell test has begun.
Kakashi started picking them one by one. The first is Sakura, to know one surprised he used genjutsu.
Sai uses his ink creature to keep Kakashi preoccupied long enough to get a bell, hopefully.
Kakashi quickly dealt with him before moving on to Sasuke.
He actually gave the jonin a slight challenge. But, unfortunately, he's unable to read his little book.
He finished him off with the headhunter jutsu.
One bet has already been called. Few handed over the ryo they had on hand.
The whole time the Anbu watching this test unfold, trying and failing to suppress their chuckles.
Naruto's mind hatched an idea. He started getting his brothers and sisters in arm's attention.
"What do you have planned, Kitsune?"
"Nothing just wanted to get a better view since they won't be able to tell we're there." That was all he said before dropping down from the cliffs used to witness Kakashi dreaded bell test.
They silently agree, following his lead. Within minutes they all found a spot height in the trees and brush to keep their eyes peeled.
Of course, they wanted to mess with the genin a little bit.
They carefully broke Sakura from her genjutsu and freed Sasuke, with the two in question being none the wiser.
Of course, the anbu followed up with fake animal noise so good you can't tell.
Making a telltale sound of movements, anything they can come up with to put the genin on edge.
Kakashi knew they were hiding amongst the tree and brush, adding some variables.
He wasn't worried about it. But, unfortunately, his genin squad doesn't have a hope of finding them.
The anbu sat back and watched as the genin each thought of a way to get the bells.
Two of them, Sai, realized the point of this exercise after Kakashi dealt with him.
None of them had time to dwell as the clock signally noon rank throughout the training field.
When all three genins met up with Kakashi, unfortunately, Sakura was tied to the stump.
The anbu all paid up the money they lost as another bet was called in.
Naruto confronted Kakashi with an amused expression.
"Having fun, are we?" He said with an eye smile.
"Since you're giving them the dreaded bell test," he snickers before glancing at his genin squad.
They noticed Sasuke giving Sakura a bite of his lunch, causing Kakashi and Anbu to smile.
Naruto stepped out of there, allowing Kakashi to confront his squad of genin.
After Kakashi gave his speech to three genins, all the Anbu present revealed themselves.
"Well, Kakashi senpai, you finally found a genin squad to realize the importance of your test," Naruto said, getting nods of approval from his fellow Anbu.
"Have they been watching us the whole time?" Sakura said from the wooded post.
"Yes, we have, and through some variables, it was very entertaining!" He said with a sneer.
The three genins well, two of them cringed, looking away, refusing to admit they were scared.
Naruto cut Sakura from the post before leaving with his fellow Anbu.
"Well, we do our first mission tomorrow!" Kakashi declared with his genin in tow.
