Coven Fairy
"Damn, my carvings have been selling like hotcakes." Kali smiled, counting the snails she made in selling her goods at her own stand next to Eda's. "At this rate, I'll have more then enough for all my tuition."
"Good for you kid. Maybe I should start charging you rent." Eda said with a laugh. "Seriously though, good work. Unlike these two who are reading all this flowery nonsense."
"I actually happen to like the Good Witch Azura books." Kali said. "I borrowed your portal and headed to the human realm, purchased all copies I could find with a credit card I swiped from this guy who tried to mug me."
"When was this?" Eda asked.
"Sometime after I got Sapphire out of her favorite napping spot." Kali stated with Sapphire perching on her shoulder.
"A.K.A your storage stomach?" Eda inquired.
"Bingo." Kali said, before their attention was drawn to Luz who was sitting at her own table between the two stands, with King on it beside her.
"Emboldened by the dishonor Hecate had shown, Azura lifted her staff to the cotton candy skies and shouted, I challenge you to a Witches Duel." Luz read from the chapter in the book she was reading. "An' look, I drew a flip book." She said flipping the corners where she drew the duel on the corners of two pages.
"Show me the picture." King said.
"What?" Luz asked.
"Show me the picture." King repeated.
Luz smiled as she turned the book around, revealing to King the image inside the book.
"Ha, I can draw better then that. You know they once called me the King of Artists." King said confidently.
"I thought you were the King of Demons?" Luz questioned.
"Don't question it Luz, just let him have this." Kali chuckled, cleaning up her station.
"Aw, feeling a little motherly towards the tiny demon?" Eda asked.
"A side effect of the Dragon Beast adding him to her maternal roster in my cursed form." Kali said. "Luz, why don't you read some more of that to King, he seems to really like the story."
"Ugh, please stop reading that, it's flowery language is an insult to Witches, and driving away all our serious customers." Eda stated.
"Um, Eda… what customers?" Luz questioned.
"Yeah, the last of the market packed up and left after Kali sold out of her inventory ten minutes ago." King said.
"There aren't even any other stands around anymore. What's going on?" Luz questioned.
"I'm kinda curious to know as well. As happy as I am to have sold out on inventory, I'm concerned something bad's happening." Kali said, putting all her things away into her bag.
"This is a bad omen, there must be something horrible, happening today." Eda said.
"Luz, Kali, something amazing is happening today." Gus said as he and Willow came running up to their friends.
"Gus, Willow hey." Luz greeted them.
"Sup?"
"It's the annual Covention." Willow said. "Student Witches get to see all the types of covens before they're placed in one."
"Huh, poster says there's a Mystery Guest." Kali said, reading the paper Willow was holding up.
"I know, I'm excited to see who it is." Willow smirked.
"A job fair for Witches." Luz said excitedly. "Eda, can we go?"
"Absolutely not." Eda stated.
"Suit yourself Eda, I'm going either way." Kali stated.
"Fine, go if you want Kali, but I never joined a coven for a reason. Sure it's like, a fun club for witches, but you're also giving up your magical independence to be part of a crooked system." Eda stated.
"Look, I'm not actually looking to join a coven." Kali said. "I'm just wanting to be able to learn how to control the Boiling Isles magic I inherited from you, and maybe stock up on the free snacks and gifts from the covens who try to bring me in."
"Now you're thinking like a Clawthorne." Eda smiled. "But I still say no to joining a coven, because being in that crooked system is not for me, but you know, no judgement."
"Come on Eda." Kali groaned. "I'd rather go with you and make some memories, then go by myself."
"I said no." Eda stated. "In any case, I haven't been to one since we were girls."
"We?" Kali and Luz questioned.
"Uh I mean…"
"Who's we?" Luz questioned.
"Eda, is there a member of the family you're keeping hidden from me?" Kali inquired.
"You have a mysterious past. Now we gotta go."
"No!" Eda exclaimed.
"Okay, then you leave me no choice." Luz smiled.
"You shall not, shan't doeth no more harm, Azura callethed out…" King read aloud as he continued up where Luz left off in the book, and marched along the table, continuing to read.
"So flowery, so awful." Eda groaned.
"Get ready Sapphire." Kali smiled.
Opening her portal, Eda stepped through, before Sapphire grabbed King and flew through the door before it closed back up, before a second later the door opened up again, and Eda came back through with King on her head, still reading, while Sapphire was perched on her shoulder.
"Stop it, stop it! I will literally do anything to stop this." Eda stated.
~Covention Center~
"Ugh." Eda groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Cheer up Eda, at least we'll make some memories here." Kali smiled as they headed for the entrance.
"Gotta keep a low profile." Eda grunted as she and King tried to force her hair into her hood.
"Is this cowl really necessary?" Luz questioned, giving them a hand.
"Eda's wanted not just for her crimes, but she's also wanted for not joining a coven. Which is considered to be the worst crime under attacking the Emperor." Kali explained.
"An' you know the Boiling Isles Legal System, how?" Eda inquired.
"I do read books you know. I studied up when Sapphire was being stubborn about coming out of her napping place. I had nothing better to do while my elixirs were fermenting." Kali stated.
"Napping place?" Willow asked.
"Trust me, you don't wanna know." King said.
"Either way, Kali's right. I never joined a Coven, and now I'm a wanted Witch for it. That's the main reason why I have so many wanted posters." Eda explained.
"Speaking of, there doesn't seem to be any of Kali around." Gus pointed out.
"Last I heard, they were taken down by order of Warden Wrath when he received a lecture from the Emperor about putting a minor's face on a wanted poster." Eda said. "But I still have the copy I grabbed that day she took the tour of Hexside."
"Maybe this informative event will inspire you to join a coven." Willow said.
Eda just looked at Willow, before using her magic to pull the girl's cowl over her face.
"Let's just get this over with." Eda sighed, encouraging them to head in.
"Whoa." Luz said as they entered the doors, witnessing all the covens around them, and the banners above them. "Was I even alive before now?"
"Those are the main nine covens." Gus explained. "But there are hundreds of other ones you can join."
"Hold on a sec." Kali said, using her magic to draw a circle in the air, before giggling as all Eda's wanted posters burned up into nothing. "It's safe to remove the cowl now Eda."
"Thanks kiddo." Eda smiled.
"There's Flower Coven, Artist Coven, Big Dog Coven, Small Cat Coven, Tiniest Cat Coven…"
"How many sized animal covens are there?" Kali questioned, before Eda groaned.
"Also the Grumpy Coven." Willow said.
"What was that?" Eda questioned.
"Scatter." Kali smiled, before they all ran from Eda laughing.
Heading back down the hall, Luz spotted something interesting.
"Ooh, what's that?" Luz inquired.
"That's the Construction Coven." Willow said as the Coven Leader threw two piles of materials into the air, and they landed on the ground constructing a house. "One of the main nine. They use power Glyphs to increase their strength."
"Hey, isn't that the little conspiracy theorist from the Conformatorium?" Kali questioned as a power Glyph was put on the little creature's nose.
Needless to say, it didn't end well after she went mad with power.
"I'm gonna go give them a hand." Kali said, heading for the Construction Coven's booth.
"Yowza-wowza." Luz said.
"Yowza-wowza." Another Luz said, coming out from behind her.
"Yowza-wha…?" Luz questioned seeing the second Luz heading for the Illusionist Coven Booth before vanishing.
"Ah, I see you've been taken in by the allure of the Illusionist Coven." Gus smiled. "We like to magic with a hint… "Vanish/Reappear"… of showmanship."
"Wow, acceptance, camaraderie, a sense of belonging? Covens sound incredible." Luz said. "I wonder why Eda never joined one."
"That's why Luz." Kali said, coming up from behind her, and directing Luz's attention to the Illusionist's Booth, where someone wanting to join, had the Coven's emblem placed on their wrist. "When you join a Coven, all your other magic is sealed away. From now on, that poor sap's only gonna be able to use Illusion Magic, for the rest of his life. Unless he were to gouge the seal out of his flesh to undo the effects. Since Eda never joined a Coven, and I never plan on joining one, we can both do every kind of Magic. That's what makes Eda the most powerful Witch on the Boiling Isles."
"Whoa." Luz said. "Also, welcome back. Get anything from the Construction Coven?"
"Just a booklet of Power Glyphs as a thanks for assisting them." Kali smiled, holding up the booklet, before putting it in her bag.
"How much can that satchel hold?"
"It's nearly limitless if I'm being honest. The inside is just one big empty void like space. If I want something specific, I just reach my hand in, think of what I want to grab, and it'll come to me in a flash. A bag like this could be dangerous in the wrong hands, which is why I never plan on joining a Coven."
"But aren't you already part of a Coven?" Gus asked, pointing to her Fairy Tail Emblem.
"No, I'm part of a Guild." Kali stated.
"What's the difference?" Willow asked.
"One, the emblem we receive upon joining a Guild, doesn't seal away the rest of our magic, isolating just one type, it empowers us, connects those in the Guild as a family. Two, a Guild is a home you can go to, a place where you can feel safe, should you wish to turn to someone you can trust, with the Guild Master always being their to lend you their support." Kali explained.
"Listen to her kids. Kali's grandfather is actually the Fairy Tail Guild Master." Eda said, joining up with them. "Hell, I'm still a member myself. Got the emblem right here between my shoulder blades."
"Come on, let's keep going before anything happens." Kali said as they went on ahead.
"Ooh, that panel looks popular." Luz said, pointing out a golden panel with multiple guards in white uniforms with masks shaped like beaks, posted out front.
"It's the Emperor's Coven." Gus gasped, before turning to Willow. "Do you think they'll sign my forehead?"
"Only one way to find out." Willow smiled, running in with Gus.
"You coming Eda?" Kali inquired.
"No way, of all the Coven's they're the worst." Eda stated. "I'll wait out here."
"Might wanna change your mind on that one." Kali said. "They're putting up fresh posters."
"Good point." Eda sighed, following Kali in as she followed Luz, Gus, and Willow.
After finding their seats, Kali munched on some popcorn and waited for the presentation to start, before Principal Bump came out.
"Hello, Bonesborough." Bump said with a smile. "Students ask me all the time, Principal Bump, what's the height of Magical Achievement?"
"Is it this?" Someone in the crowd questioned, before using magic to make his head bigger, too big for his neck to support as it leaned to one side, and crushed another student.
"Talk about having a big head."
"Wow, I've failed you as a Principal." Bump said cringing at the sight before he continued. "It's being selected to join, the best of the best. An' there are none better then the jewel of the Coven System, and the enforcers of his will, the Emperor's Coven."
"Whoa." Luz said in awe.
"A bit flashy of an entrance there." Kali said. "Could have used a bit more drama."
"Feast your eyes on this elite force. Each member handpicked to help usher in a new age of controlled magic." Bump said as each of the Coven Scouts performed a spell. "Members of the Emperor's Coven have access to all, yes all forms of magic. But, only the best can ascend these ranks, someday that could be one of you." He declared, pointing to a student in the crowd.
"Hey Luz, Amity's here." Kali said, pointing out the smiling Blight girl.
"She seems excited." Luz said.
"An' now, I am pleased to introduce, the esteemed leader of this Coven, and this year's Mystery Guest." Bump announced.
"Huh?" Eda did not like where this was going.
"You know her, you love her, Lilith." He introduced.
"Oh no." Eda groaned.
Up in the center of the ceiling, a giant glowing white bird formed out of light, perched on a branch, before the bird came flying down, and landed on the stage, enveloping the entire arena in energy as it vanished, revealing a dark haired woman in grey clothes wearing the Coven's mask and cowl, until she threw them off, with her Palisman Staff in hand.
"You know her?" Kali questioned, seeing Eda's dumbfounded look.
"You could say that." Eda said.
"Mysterious past." Luz gasped with a smile.
"Thank you all." Lilith said with a smile. "It wasn't easy for me to rise to the top. I also started from humble beginnings."
"Like me?" The kid with the giant head questioned with a joyous look on his face.
"Seriously, someone do something about that freaking head." Kali stated.
"Now I have the highest honor of enforcing the Emperor's will, so be more. The Emperor's Coven, awaits you." Lilith declared, using her magic to vanish in a showmanship of light and shadow.
"That was something." Kali said as they got up from their seats.
Leaving the panel, Kali and Luz noticed Eda was heading towards the exit.
"Eda, where are you going?" Luz asked, grabbing her mentor's arm in excitement.
"I'm gonna head home, and wash the Con-funk of my skin." Eda stated.
"But we haven't even taken the quiz to determine our Coven Type." Luz said, holding up the book with the quiz inside.
Kali brought Luz's arms down, saving the book from an attack that Eda sent at the book.
"Okay, clearly your sudden change in mood, has something to do with the head of the Emperor's Coven." Kali stated. "Otherwise you'd just be following us around, mocking all those trying to bring in new members, for having their magic locked away."
"Wow, am I that obvious?" Eda questioned. "Can I really be read that easily?"
"Like a book." Kali nodded.
"Well, either way. I'm still leaving. When you find King, bring him back with you, okay?" Eda questioned, heading off.
"Oh man, what's gotten into her?" Luz questioned, heading in another direction with Kali, before she bumped into someone.
"Watch where you're…" Amity began, turning back to look at Luz, before she stopped. "Oh, it's you."
"Hey Amity." Luz said. "Why you acting all hostile? I thought we were cool?"
"Luz, your leave of campus was discovered, and afterwards Amity and I both got in serious trouble with Bump." Kali said. "She's had a perfect record until then, so she's a little sore about that."
"An' I never get in trouble." Amity added, walking off.
"Well too be fair, I didn't know that demon was there when I snuck out through the window, so…"
"You can't be here. This Covention is for Witches only." Amity stated.
"Now hold on Amity." Kali said. "Luz might not look like much, but she's training to be a Witch. An' she's doing pretty damn well for herself."
"I'm getting lessons from Kali, a powerful Witch, and a Ferocious Demon." Luz said.
"Uh Luz, bad timing on mentioning King." Kali said, looking behind her and tapping Luz's shoulder, making the human girl look back at him.
"Cupcakes in my Tummy-tum, makes a King say, Yummy-yum." King said, wearing a bunch of merchandise from different covens.
"So will you join the Baker's Coven?" One of the Coven Members questioned.
"Mmm…" King pondered, eating the cupcake, before grabbing another and running off. "Nope. Oh hey Luz, Kali, look at all the offerings." King said before he yelped as he tripped over his scarf, and dropped his cupcake.
"Careful King." Kali said, picking him up and handing him the cupcake he dropped.
"Thanks Kali." King smiled.
"So, can we settle this Amity?" Kali asked, looking at the green haired Blight girl.
"Sure, if she stops training to be a Witch, everything will be fine." Amity said, pointing to the human.
"Whoa, hold up. That's not your call to make." Kali stated.
"She and her pet are giving Witches in training a bad name." Amity stated.
"I am not a pet." King said, scratching behind his ear like a dog.
"Tell you what Amity." Kali said. "I challenge you to a Witches Duel. If I win, you have to apologize to King, buy him, and me both a bakers dozen cupcakes, and admit that humans can be witches too. If you win, I will stop teaching Luz magic."
"You've got yourself a bet, but you cannot use Sapphire." Amity said.
"Then let's make an everlasting oath on it." Kali said, holding out her hand.
Amity took her hand, and with their free hands made the oath with both of them making one half of the circle.
"Back inside the theater, one hour." Kali said. "An' may the best Witch win."
"I intend to." Amity stated, heading off the get ready for the Witches Duel.
"Kali, are you sure about this?" Luz questioned.
"Totally, now let's go find Eda and let her know about the duel. I gotta prepare."
~Eda~
Eda was sneaking through the booths and panels of the Covention, wanting to get out of there as soon as possible, without being detected. It was bad enough that Luz had managed to drag her to a Covention where Lilith was the special guest, but she really wasn't in the mood to explain to the Coven Leader, should they run into one another, who Kali was and her connection to the teen that highly resembled her younger self.
Unfortunately, things hardly ever went her way.
"Sister?"
Eda winced before turning to see Lilith in the middle of signing an autograph, to the kid who's head was finally fixed.
"It's been so long since I've seen you last." Lilith said, finishing the autograph before walking up to Eda with the children following. "What are you wearing? You look like some sort of trash collector. Oh wait, you are."
"Oh Lily. I just had to see the head of the Emperor's Coven in action." Eda countered before crouching down to talk with the kids. "You know, when we were kids. Lilith was so excited to see the Emperor's Coven, she peed a little."
This made Lilith blush, as the children around her actually found that funny, and giggled.
"That-that's all for today." Lilith said, sending the children on their way, keeping a level head, until the little ones were gone. "You shouldn't even be here, you're a wanted criminal. Unless… I don't believe it. You're here to join the Emperor's Coven." She gasped, getting the wrong impression from Eda's appearance at the Covention.
"In your dreams." Eda laughed, finding the notion hilarious.
"You think being Coven-less makes you so much smarter then everyone else. But while you run from the law, like a degenerate, I'm mentoring the next generation of powerful Witch students into the world." Lilith stated.
"Well, I have a couple students. An' I bet my best student, could wipe the floor with any of your prissy little blue bloods." Eda stated.
"Is that a challenge?" Lilith asked.
"Oh it's a promise." Eda said. "An' the best part, I won't even need to use cheap tricks by cheating to help her win. She's capable of victory all on her own."
"Is that so?"
"Of course. She's the one who kicked Warden Wrath's butt back at the Conformation." Eda smirked.
"You talking about me with your friends behind my back?"
Eda and Lilith turned to see Kali and Luz with Sapphire on Kali's shoulder, and King on her back, with all four of them eating ice cream.
"Ah, just the person I was hoping would drop by." Eda smiled.
"Sup?" Kali inquired.
"Kali, meet Lilith."
"Head of the Emperor's Coven, we saw her in the auditorium. In fact I got some news. I challenged Amity Blight to a Witches Duel, because she was being all hostile and stuff towards Luz and King, so I'll be fighting her in the auditorium in about fifty minutes, and while we were looking for you, we got some ice cream. I can't use Sapphire though."
"I don't mind watching your Palisman for you kiddo." Eda smiled.
"Edalyn, who is this girl?" Lilith questioned.
"Lilith, this is…"
"I'm Kali Dryer Clawthorne." Kali said. "Eda's granddaughter."
"Granddaughter?" Lilith gasped.
"Uh yeah kiddo. Lilith doesn't even know I had a kid with Makarov in Fiore." Eda said.
"Oh sister, how far you've fallen, to drag your own sweet precious granddaughter into this mess." Lilith said exasperated. "To think you'd bring her into this, delusional fantasy world you made up for those years you went missing."
"Eda didn't make that world up. Kali and I visited Earthland a couple weeks ago." Luz said.
"Earthland is actually where I was born." Kali stated. "I even have a portal to Earthland in my bag."
"We'll work on your rehabilitation later, right now it appears you've already met my top student." Lilith said.
"Whoa, what do you mean my rehabilitation?" Kali questioned.
"Well it should be obvious. I simply cannot allow my great niece to remain in the care of her, ill suited grandmother." Lilith said. "After this duel you will come and live with me at the Emperor's Coven."
"Oh hell no." Kali said. "My grandfather sent me here to live with my grandmother, not some stranger I don't know. An' what do you mean, great niece?"
"Kali, this is Lilith Clawthorne. My sister." Eda stated. "She's your Great Aunt."
"Whoa, did not see that family drama coming." Luz said.
"I don't care if she's my dead mother, I am not going anywhere with her." Kali stated with Sapphire hissing at Lilith.
"Poor child, you simply are full of problems, aren't you?" Lilith questioned.
"She's full of more then that." Eda said. "Kali's the only child from my blood who's inherited a magic bile sack, and my curse."
"What?" Lilith questioned, her voice filled with dread.
"You heard her." Kali said. "I inherited her curse. I was born with it, and I manage to deal with it any way I can, including through my favorite drinks and snacks which make me feel better. Not that my stupid big brother ever cared about helping with my curse to begin with."
"How about this Lilith." Eda said. "Kali wins the Duel, she stays with me, but if your top student wins, then not only will she go with you, I'll join the Emperor's Coven."
Composing herself, Lilith straightened out her dress and thought about Eda's proposal.
"Very well Edalyn, I accept your proposition." Lilith said. "Let's see how good a teacher you really are, and be prepared to receive your Coven mark when my student wins."
"That's not ominous." Luz said. "I had no idea you had such a problem with your family."
"Well let's not get into that right now." Eda said. "C'mon kiddo, you gotta prep for bloodshed."
"Who's blood?" Kali questioned.
"Anyone's guess." Eda chuckled.
~Prep Time~
"Ah, I see. That's why this Blight girl has it out for you Luz." Eda said, while Kali was doing warm up exercises, King sitting on her back while she did push ups with one arm. "I know her parents personally, we all went to school together when we were kids, but drifted apart when we all chose our tracks."
"From your experience with them, can you take a guess at what her home life might be like?" Kali asked.
"Well, Odalia has always been self centered and cold hearted. She expects others to do as she says without complaint, while at the same time, treating them like garbage. She's a master at manipulation and is second to the Coven Leader of the Oracle Coven. While Alador is the opposite, he's selfless to a fault, will open his heart for anyone who he sees in trouble without expecting anything in return, and is barely at the Abomination Coven enough to be considered an actual member despite having the mark. Reason for that is, he's never backed down from a challenge, but since marrying Odalia he's been kept in line by her, and has been doing nothing but making Abomination tools and weapons for their security business." Eda explained.
"So what does that say about Amity?" Luz inquired.
"If I had to guess, based off your interactions with her, Amity is being trained by her mother to join the Emperor's Coven. She might think it's her dream to join, but Oracle Witches have a tenancy to manipulate people's minds with their magic, and implant thoughts into their heads, making them think it's their idea." Eda said. "At best, I'd say her home life is one of misery with her mom constantly controlling her every day life, and her dad being too busy to even be a main part of it. Of course this is all just speculation on what I know of Odalia and Alador's personalities and behaviors."
"At least she has a dad who cares about her." Kali huffed, getting up from the ground, King on her shoulders.
"Yeah Kali about that, don't go too hard on the Blight girl. She's probably just hurting inside." Eda said.
"I know she is, but she has to learn, that there's always gonna be people better then her, and there's situations she can't control." Kali said, putting King down.
~Fight~
"Beloved citizens." Lilith began. "The Emperor's Coven, proudly presents an impromptu demonstration of the sort of witch we seek every year. Introducing, Amity Blight."
The introduction of the Blight Daughter seemed to get the crowds blood pumping, as they all cheered for her.
"Versus my Niece, Kali Clawthorne."
"Dryer." Kali stated. "My name is Kali Dryer Clawthorne."
"Right." Lilith said. "At the end of this battle, Kali Clawthorne…"
"Dryer Clawthorne."
"Will be taken out of her grandmother's custody, and placed in my own." Lilith declared.
"She's that confident in Amity's abilities. She's so arrogant." Luz said.
"Let the battle begin."
Kali and Amity stepped forward as the signal bell for the fight rang, Amity smirking in confidence.
"Abomination, Rise." Amity ordered, drawing a giant circle on the ground.
Kali just looked at the abomination with an unimpressed expression, before stepping to the side, and evading its fist.
"Got any other tricks?" Kali questioned, hitting the abomination with a fire ball, shocking the Blight girl, Lilith, and the crowd as she didn't even draw a circle to ignite it. "Or are you a one trick pony?"
"I'm not done yet." Amity said, creating another abomination bigger then the last one.
"Tell you what Amity." Kali said, moving with ease as she evaded the attacks from the giant monster. "To even the playing field, I'll just stick to my Dragonslayer Magic."
Jumping into the air, Kali landed on the abominations head, before jumping higher and evading the creations arms, making her nearly touch the ceiling.
"Vermillion Dragon: ROAR." Kali cried out, sending a breath attack at the abomination, destroying it.
As the dust from the dying attack cleared, Amity coughed as she forced herself off her back, before Kali stepped on her chest and pushed her back down. Looking up, Amity's eyes widened when she saw the lightning coursing through Kali's arm, and the look in her eyes.
"Say it." Kali said.
Amity just looked at the Clawthorne girl, before she sighed and laid her head back in defeat.
"I yield." Amity said.
"The fight is over." Eda cheered. "Kali Dryer Clawthorne wins."
The crowd was silent for a moment, before they began to cheer, leaving Lilith speechless as she just looked at Kali, shock and confusion running through her mind, as she couldn't comprehend what that was, Kali had just demonstrated.
"Hey." Kali said, removing her foot from Amity's chest, her voice much softer then before. "You okay?" She inquired, reaching her hand to Amity.
"What do you care? You won."
"Yeah, I won the fight." Kali said, grabbing Amity's hand and pulling her up. "But I hope you learned an important lesson from this."
"Why do you care so much?" Amity asked.
"Listen, Luz and I don't have a lot of friends here in the Demon Realm." Kali said. "At most we've got Eda, King, Willow, Gus, and one another. I just wanted you to learn, being a bully isn't okay, and it's a good way to make those who you care for, hate you."
Amity just looked at Kali before looking back towards Luz who was dancing around with King in victory.
"I still want to be your friend Amity. But friendship, takes a lot of work and it's not easy at times." Kali said.
"Alright, I get it. I shouldn't have taken my anger out on Luz, when she had no intentions of getting us in trouble in the first place." Amity said.
"Glad to hear it. Now if I recall, you owe King and I some cupcakes." Kali smiled with a laugh, putting her arms around Amity's shoulders
"Right." Amity smiled.
"Hold on…" Kali said, feeling something on her arm. She looked at her limb to see the living tattoo, forming a message for her to see. "Amity wait."
The Blight girl stopped long enough for Kali to grab the back of her neck, and ripped off some sort of tag.
"Ow, hey." Amity said, turning around to face Kali, before she spotted what was in the Clawthorne's hand. "What is that?"
"It's a Power Glyph from the Construction Coven." Kali said, tearing it up and looking right at Lilith as she walked up to Eda as the Owl Lady was dancing in victory. "An' I think I know who was the one to put it on you."
"Edalyn you will knock that off this instant you are making a scene." Lilith growled. "Now you tell me what kind of illegal substances you've been forcing your granddaughter to take to use her magic like that, this instant."
"Oh please." Eda scoffed. "You can't stand the fact that she won using her own power, power you claim doesn't exist since it comes from Earthland, and are trying to find any excuse to justify harassing me for your own sick sense of justice."
"Earthland does not exist. It is not real, you've gone insane thinking that you were actually in a place where humans can do magic, without magic bile sacks." Lilith stated.
"Hey Aunt Lilith." Kali called out.
Lilith turned towards Kali, but ducked as soon as she did, to avoid Sapphire in her Palisman form, hitting her in the head like a spear, before she was embedded in the wall.
"A Palisman?" Lilith questioned, before turning to Kali. "How dare you try and attack me young lady."
"Oh, I'd gladly attempt a second try, if you ever try cheating in a Witches Duel again." Kali glared.
"What are you talking about kid?" Eda asked.
"I found a Power Glyph, from the Construction Coven on the back of Amity's neck." Kali stated. "Lilith here tried to cheat so she could get custody over me."
"What did you expect me to do?" Lilith questioned grabbing Kali by the arm. "After seeing what you just did, it's clear you can't be left with Edalyn. She's a bad influence on you. Come along now."
"Hey let go of me." Kali hissed as Lilith tried to pull her away.
"Lilith, you let her go now." Eda said, Sapphire landing on her shoulder with a hiss.
"No, this child is coming with me, for a proper upbringing and education." Lilith said.
"I said. Let. Me. GO." Kali shouted, before she swung a lightning/flame covered fist at Lilith.
The Coven head was instantly ready for the attack as she moved to the side, evading the attack before she was struck in the face with a knee from Kali, forcing Lilith to let her go.
"You will come with me for a proper upbringing child, even if I have to do it by force." Lilith glared as Raven, her Palisman, came to her hand while blood was dripping down her nose.
Without a word, Kali tossed her gate to Eda.
"Keep that safe for me Eda. I don't want her getting her hands on it." Kali stated, looking over her shoulder to the trio. "Use it to flee to Earthland if you have to."
"Right."
The instant Kali looked back to Lilith, she was hit with a large magic attack, that struck her dead in the chest, sending her flying back and into the wall of the stadium, causing the crowd gathered to gasp in shock as Kali fell to the ground.
Picking herself up, Kali cracked her neck and looked directly at Lilith with a guttural growl, resonating from her chest.
"You just bought yourself a one way ticket to Tartarus." Kali growled, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth.
(Cue Music… Holding out for a hero: Little V)
Kali slammed her fist against the wall of the stadium, before she was gone in a flash of red light, instantly behind Lilith with Sapphire in her Palisman form in her hands.
"Witches Duel." Someone from the crowd shouted.
As Kali swung Sapphire, Lilith twisted around blocked her attack with Raven. The impact from the clashing powers pushed Kali and Lilith apart, forcing Kali's feet to dig grooves into the ground as she slowed her momentum, before she spun Sapphire like a bow staff, creating a giant magic circle, and sent an attack at Lilith. The Coven Head returned the attack in kind, the two powers clashing and causing sparks to fly and hit the stands, forcing the crowd to flee in terror, while Eda shielded herself, Luz, and King from the attacks with Owlbert, while Amity shielded herself with an abomination she summoned.
"Wow, Kali's keeping her own against Lilith." Amity said.
"Take a closer look kid." Eda said.
Amity looked over her abomination shield, and saw what she had seen early, with Kali and Lilith at a standstill, but the magical attacks were starting to shift, as Lilith's attack was overpowering Kali's, with the Clawthorne teen getting hit and hurt by stray blasts of the colliding attacks.
"Kali's barely able to keep up with Lilith's attacks. Kali's strong, but her power capacity is no where near mine or Lilith's when it comes to the magic we all know."
"Thankfully, Boiling Isles magic isn't the only magic she's proficient at." Luz said.
As if that was her cue, Kali jumped to the side with Sapphire leaving her staff and flying around the arena and heading straight for Lilith. In turn, Raven left her staff and fought back against Sapphire, the two air born birds of prey clawing and hissing at one another.
"An Apex Predator verses a weakling beast. Almost seems unfair." Lilith smirked.
"Sapphire is no weakling." Kali stated, getting to her feet, and standing tall. "In fact, thanks to being exposed to Earthland's unique atmosphere for decades as a chunk of Palistrom Wood, Sapphire has far beyond evolved the normal limitations if a normal Palisman."
Drawing circles around her wrists, Kali brought her arms back, and clapped them together, sending a shockwave of power at Lilith, knocking the Coven Head back.
"Sapphire." Kali called to her. "Formation Omega."
Flying away from Raven, Sapphire took to the air, with the bird Palisman following, before Raven screeched in horror as a large shadow overtook her, and she flew away.
Looking up as Lilith removed herself from the ground, the Coven Head gasped as Raven came down, and soon after a large beast followed, landing on the ground, creating a cloud of dust, knocking Raven unconscious, and returning her back to her statue form.
(End Song…)
When the dust settled, Lilith stared in horror and shock, as Kali stood in front of her, her hand on the silhouette's head of the beast that caused the tremor and dust cloud, before she could see clearly once more, as Sapphire was now gigantic, nearly the size of half the arena, standing behind Kali with hatred in her eyes, and a guttural growl coming from her glowing chest as she prepared to breathe fire at Lilith.
"When one carves their Palisman, they think of what that Palisman should be capable of. Carving it as a ten year old, I wanted Sapphire to be able to do all sorts of things, and made a list of what would be possible." Kali said, her free hand alight with her dual elemental Dragonslayer magic. "One of those items on that list, was being able to use one of the magics my grandpa can use. It's called Titan Magic, allows for the user to increase their size drastically or just by a little. The bigger she gets, the more detailed and realistic her Vermillion Dragon body becomes. Not bad for a hunk of Palistrom Wood left in Earthland by Eda."
"Your Palisman's size is greater then that of the average Palisman. Eda gave you the log of Palisman Wood she kept hidden under her bed when we were girls, didn't she?" Lilith questioned.
"She left it with Grandpa Makarov when she managed to find a way back to the Boiling Isles. Told him to give it to my dad if he inherited her magic, but I got it instead." Kali stated as Sapphire shrunk back down to normal size, and returned to her staff. "This battle is over. We're finished."
Standing on Sapphire's staff, Kali flew away from Lilith with Eda, Luz, and King following, while Amity just looked at the retreating girls in shock, realizing Kali had been holding back a great deal in their battle, even without Sapphire. It was then and there, Amity vowed to become strong enough to match Kali in both strength, and magical prowess.
~Lilith's Dressing Room~
"Damn that accursed girl. Can't she see I only want what's best for her?" Lilith questioned, shutting the door behind her. "Oh Edalyn already makes is so hard to want to help her. But now I have a niece and a nephew I haven't met yet. I need to help those two and get them to join the Emperor's Coven. Who knows if Kali's brother, or even her father has inherited the curse as well." She grumbled before the small golden item on the desk, with the Emperor's Coven Emblem on the lid, opened up revealing it was a communications device, as in the view of the mirror was a small demon with claw like hair, and one eye visible with her clothes covering the rest of her face.
"Lilith, I see you've allowed the Owl Lady and her proteges to make a mockery of you at the Covention." The Demon said.
"Kikimora, I assure you I have everything handled. My niece's power was just more then I was expecting. She shows great promise, and may be my successor as the Head of the Emperor's Coven." Lilith said.
"Your niece? I was not aware the Owl Lady had offspring."
"Kali is her granddaughter. The child of a child she claims to have had with someone named Makarov from a fantasy world she dreamed up when she went insane, trapped as the Owl Beast for a few years, called Earthland." Lilith said.
"Did you just say Earthland, Lilith?" Kikimora inquired.
"Yes, but I assure you Earthland does not…"
"You will mention Earthland to no one. An' you will await for further instructions from the Emperor." Kikimora said, interrupting Lilith's statement. "Am I understood?"
"Yes, Kikimora. Though I don't see how a make believe world is of…"
"Do not question me Lilith." Kikimora said. "Do as you're told."
"Yes, Kikimora."
With that, the mirror returned to showing Lilith her reflection, which showed a concerned expression on her face.
"She knows something. Have I misjudged Edalyn's claims to Earthland after all?" Lilith inquired.
