Coven Fairy
"Luz needs a new coat. King needs to be checked for fleas. Kali needs to get a new instrument for Bard Class. Am I missing anything?" Eda questioned, before she looked at herself in the mirror, and chuckled. "Oh you've changed Owl Lady." She smiled, pulling down the photo of her, King, Luz, Kali, and Natsu, taken after Luz, Kali, Natsu, and Amity defeated Grom as a four person team. "It's worth it."
Eda's musings were interrupted, when she heard the sound of rhythmic whistling, echoing from outside. She opened her window, spotting Luz and King doing hanging sit ups from Araña's staff, while Kali kept them going in rhythm with her whistle blows.
"An' that's 25." Kali said, as she stopped whistling. "Sit up on Araña's staff you two."
"You got it." Luz said, as she and King sat up on Araña's staff.
"Okay King, what's the first thing you're gonna do once you see your dad?" Kali asked.
"Well, once we're done training, I'm gonna move out of that closet, that's for sure." King said. "I spend most of my nights in your nest bed anyways. Then I'm gonna ugly cry, hard."
"Great." Kali chuckled. "I'm going inside for a drink. I'll bring some out for you as well."
"Take your time." Luz said. The instant Kali was back in the house, Luz looked to King. "Have you told Eda and Kali about your decision to le…"
"Shh." King said, shushing Luz, before they heard something close, and looked up to Eda's window.
Inside her room, Eda was lying on the ground, having flattened herself in a panic, as she didn't want Luz and King to know she was spying on them.
"I… I'm not ready yet." King's muffled voice came from outside. "I'm not sure how they'll react."
"Huh." Eda sighed, picking herself up. "Everyone's leaving, huh? Even King. This is gonna break Kali's heart. But I guess neither of us are no substitutes for the real thing." She said, opening her junk chest, before stopping as she spotted something she hadn't played in years, lying there in the chest. "Well, nothing like a good distraction." She said, pulling her lute from the chest.
Taking in a deep breath, Eda began playing a song, she hadn't heard in a long time, wanting to forget the memories of what she'd just heard. But as she played, the magic from Luz's light Glyphs that filled the room, began reacting to the music.
"Has my magic returned?" Eda questioned, before the items enveloped in the light, began disappearing, with the light turning dark, as her curse devoured everything in its embrace. "Oh, guess not. Stupid curse." She said, putting the lute back into the chest. "Maybe I should tell Kali, what I overheard, she has a right to know."
~Later~
"An' we're back live, at the Emperors Castle." The news reporter said, as Eda's Penstagram floated next to her, with the Witch doing research on how to get her magic back, but became distracted by the news.
"Hmm?"
"In light of Scooter Crane's retirement, todays ceremony will confirm Raine Whispers, as the next head of the Bard Coven." The reporter stated, as Darius and Eberwolf stepped onto the stage, in front of a hooded figure.
"Do I have to be on camera?" The hooded man asked.
"For Titans sake, just say something." Darius said.
The hooded figure turned as he removed his hood, revealing his fading teal hair, glasses, and earring hanging from his right ear.
"Uh… I am honored, to work with Emperor Belos, in preparation of the Day of Uni-bee. I mean Uni-ly. I mean… uh, oh-no, this is going all wrong." Raine said, before he ran off stage in embarrassment. "Get me outta here."
"Just cut the feed." Darius said.
"How, are you supposed to be Head Bard, with stage fright?" Eda questioned with a smile, before the door opened and in came Luz, Kali, and King, with Luz carrying a vomit filled bag.
"I'm sorry Luz." King said.
"It's okay buddy." Luz said.
"I'll have Araña stitch you up a new bag, one enchanted with a troya spell this time." Kali said, as her Palisman scuttled away, through the house, and to the back door.
"So why are you suddenly so interested in flying?" Eda asked, as Luz went to throw away her bag. "Did you give up, on returning to the human realm? I mean I, suppose you can stay here, a little longer."
"Oh no, Luz is still going home." Kali said.
"But I keep running into some, set backs." Luz said, popping her head into the room. "When I finally got the mouse to trust me, Hooty ate him. I was able to get the mouse back safely, but he needs to recover before he can give me any information I need."
"She insists on trying to get the information out of the echo mouse, while refusing to read the copy of Wittebanes diary that I got for us." Kali stated. "Which is proving to be more difficult than it should be."
"I like a good challenge." Luz said.
"Being trapped on the Boiling Isles isn't challenge enough?" Kali asked, before Araña came back and put the bag in Luz's arms.
"Thanks Araña." Luz smiled, as Luz enchanted the bag.
"Now King shouldn't suffer any motion sickness from how fast you fly." Kali said.
"In the meantime, this weekend is the Gland Prix!" King stated happily, showing a pamphlet to Eda.
"Hexside, Glandys, and St. Epiderm students race, to win glory, and honor, and…"
"Fame!" King said excitedly. "Winners also get an interview with the Boiling Isles news. Do you realize what this means?"
"Luz and King are gonna enter the competition, to get King on camera, to send a message to his dad." Kali explained. "If they don't win though, we're gonna just film a video and post it on social media. But that's Plan-B."
"Oh. That's… great." Eda said.
"But uh… there's something I'd like to talk to Kali about first." King said. "You see Kali, I think it's time for me to le…"
"LEAVE the talking for later." Eda said, interrupting King. "You both have a race to train for and win. I need to have a word with Kali about something really, really important that can't wait. So off you go." She stated pushing King and Luz out the door.
"Wait, Araña's the Palisman we're racing with." Luz said, before the Arachne jumped onto her shoulder.
"Don't worry so much, I trust you to take good care of her. Just be safe, and don't mess up on the landings." Kali said. "Just give her some time. She's probably a bit tired from having to weave your new bag together so fast."
"Right." Luz said, before the door closed on them.
"So, what did you wanna talk about Grandma?" Kali asked, turning to Eda.
~Grimgrub's Pub~
"What? King's planning on leaving?" Kali asked.
"Yeah, I overheard him and Luz talking about it after you went back into the house this morning to get some drinks." Eda stated, as they were drinking Apple Blood.
"But, King's only eight. We can't let him leave until he's an adult." Kali stated.
"I know it's hard, but that's how things work in the Demon Realm. If a child wants to leave before they're old enough, then they have that right. It's been that was since long before Belos took over." Eda explained.
"Another non-alcoholic Apple Blood please." Kali said.
"I thought you'd be drinking to wash your sorrows away." Eda said.
"I don't wanna talk about that." Kali stated. "I just wanna know, why King wants to leave. Was it something I did, was I too hard on him when punishing the little guy for his misdeeds?"
"Being a parent is a thankless job Kali." Eda sighed. "You just gotta trust, that you're doing the best you can when raising your kid. Not that I have any room to talk on that front."
"But still…"
"Hey, back off." Kali heard a woman call out, drawing hers and Edas attention to two guards, detaining a witch.
"Don't fret citizens, we are helping this wild witch, find her place in society." One of the guards said.
"No. I don't want to join a Coven, let me go." She said, struggling to break free.
"Keep the change." Kali said, putting some money down to pay for her drinks. "Put it towards Eda's tab."
"Kali, what do you think you're doing?" Eda asked, as Kali left the bar to follow the guards.
"Hey, Dumb and Dumber." Kali called out. "Let the Wild Witch go."
"Back off Wild Child." One of the guards said.
"Yeah, no coven wants a wildcard who will disobey them." The other guard said.
"Oh-ho-ho. Technically, I'm not Covenless." Kali said, undoing the wraps on her forearm, and showing the Emperors Coven sigil. "Now let her go."
"You don't scare us." The guard said, before Kali struck him, sending the Demon flying and slammed right into a light post.
"How about now?" Kali questioned, as the guard she didn't hit, drew a magic circle in the air.
Before the spell could be executed, the sound of a plucked string echoed softly through the air, dispelling the magical attack, before the sound of music began playing through the air, enveloping the area in a soft and warming embrace of light.
"Look at the Emperors Lackey's! Trying to uh… Do I really have to say this?" The bard playing the violin questioned.
"We all agreed on the script."
"Trying to… mute the music of our hearts?" The violin player said, an obvious blush appearing under his bat mask. "An' weaken magic, by forcing witches into covens against their wills."
"I like this group." Kali smiled. "I would be a prime example of that, as the sigil for the Emperors Coven, was forced upon me, by the Golden Guard himself."
"Blasphemy." A guard shouted.
"Blasphem-you." The violinist said.
"See, you're a natural." The flute player said.
"That's right. Bonesborough." The violinist said, plucking the strings of the violin, forcing the guards onto their hands and knees. "They take your magic." Another pluck, and the guards were back on their feet. "They restrict your knowledge." Another pluck of the string, and the guards were stomping their feet.
"Stop, stop."
"They say they do it in the name of unity. But what they really want, is control!"
"You tell them." Kali smirked, before Eda grabbed her shoulder.
"I love a good rebellion as much as the next guy, but this isn't the time for it." Eda said.
"Shove off." The violinist said, using their magic to force the guards to march away, and through trash.
"Who are you guys?" Kali asked.
"We are the Bards Against the Throne, AKA…" The violinist began, before they were interrupted.
"Surrounded." A guard said, putting on earmuffs, with multiple guards joining in on surrounding them.
"Did not think this one through, did ya?" Kali inquired.
"Not really." The violinist said.
"Well, lucky for you. I'm perfect for the job." She said. "Ice and fire magic should do the trick. Creating… the perfect diversion."
Drawing a big circle in the air, Kali slammed her hand down on the ground, creating a large cloud of steam that was as thick as pea soup. When it did die down, the guards were astonished to see that the Bards were gone, as were Eda and Kali.
"Just great." The guard said, throwing his earmuffs to the ground.
~Elsewhere~
"End of the line everyone." Kali said, removing a metal bar from the sewage grate. "Word of advice, next time you wanna put on such an exciting performance, make sure you have an exit strategy or two planned ahead."
"Thank you, how can we ever repay you?" One of them asked.
"Well you could write me one of your fanfics about food falling in love, Katya. Specifically strawberries and pineapple." Kali smiled.
"How'd you know it was me?" Katya asked, removing her mask.
"Please, I have the senses of a dragon. I recognized your scent." Kali said. "But now I'm getting hungry for strawberries and pineapple."
"As for the rest of you, you could let us join your little team." Eda said. "I may not have magic, and Kali may have a Coven Sigil, but we are both agents of chaos."
"Sorry. We're not accepting new members." The violinist said.
"Is that anyway to treat an old friend, Raine Whispers?" Eda asked, knocking his bat mask off his face.
"No way, the head witch of the Bard Coven, is leading a secret rebellion?" Kali asked, before something caught her attention. "Hold the phone…"
"Eda, you're embarrassing me in front of my crew." Raine said.
"Huh?" The trio of bards asked, sounding confused.
"Hey, it's all right, everyone. The Owl Lady is an old friend." Raine stated.
"Hold on, Grandma you're friends with a Coven Head?" Kali asked.
"Grandma?" Raine and Katya questioned.
"It's a long story Raine." Eda said.
"Nice to see you again." Katya said. "This is Derwin and Amber."
"Are they gonna join our group?" Derwin asked.
"They don't seem like a good fit to me." Amber said skeptically.
"Actually, Eda's the one who inspired me to make the group." Raine said.
"Huh?" Eda asked.
"It, was a while ago." Raine began. "Remember what you told me, the last time we saw each other, about facing our fears? I honestly thought you were just joking around, but I learned what it really meant, when I started teaching for the Bard Coven. The Emperor prioritized recruitment through force, while anyone who refused to fall in line, disappeared."
"Sounds more like a crime lord, then an Emperor of the People." Kali said.
"Well I wasn't gonna stand for that." Raine continued. "So I took matters into my own hands. I carefully moved up the ranks, and I found people who wanted to change things, like me."
"An' that's when you formed, the BATS?" Kali asked.
"You know it." Raine said, before they heard footsteps from above.
"That way, hurry." Kali said, pointing for them to go in a specific direction.
"Hey, if neither of you have anything to lose, we could use the help." Raine said, holding out their hand, making Eda blush.
"No way, Grandma has a thing for the Head Bard of the Bard Coven." Kali eeped. "Oh this is so going into the plot of my story line. Hey Mx. Whispers? Can I ask a big favor of you real quick?"
~The Following Day~
"Alright, you got everything Kali?" Eda asked, throwing on a robe and tying her hair up.
"I've got all the charts, maps, and schematics in my bag. Let's head to the meet up location." Kali said, throwing on a robe of her own.
"Let's do it." Eda said, heading out the door.
When they stepped outside, Kali and Eda saw Luz on the ground with Owlbert, no doubt having finished another workout session for the Grand Prix that was coming up.
"Hey Eda, Kali. King's still waiting to talk with you." Luz said, flying up next to them, while balancing on her feet on Araña's staff.
"Uh, maybe later." Eda said. "Kali and I have somewhere we need to be right now."
"Okay, well maybe at the Grand Prix?" Luz asked.
"We'll be there Luz, you can count on that." Kali smiled.
"Stay away from me." Kali heard King cry out, and looked over her shoulder snickering as she saw him running from Hooty.
"Let me be your emotional support." Hooty cried out.
~Meetup Area~
"Well, there you have it." Eda said laying out a map. "Home made maps, of every nook and cranny in the city."
"With a few minor updates from me. Belos tightened security in a few areas, so I marked them down in orange, to know which areas were safe, or not." Kali said.
"Okay, here's the situation." Raine began. "Emperor Belos, wants every Wild Witch, in a Coven, before the day of unity."
"We believe he's trying to steal as much magic as possible, right now we don't know why." Derwin said.
"I've analyzed the sigil the Golden Guard branded me with. It does seem like it's connected to some sort of draining spell. Whether the spell takes all magic to him, or erases it completely, is another matter." Kali said, reaching into her back pocket, and pulling out a gauntlet made of silk and metal. "Which is why I've been working on this."
"What is it?" Amber asked.
"It's similar to the Sigil Gloves. But instead of making Sigils, it removes the magic within them, unlocking the suppressed magic, while leaving the actual mark there, like a harmless tattoo. I've yet to try it out though." Kali said. "I've been working on it, since the petrification ceremony."
"What's it made of?" Derwin asked.
"Silk converted from Palistrom Wood." Kali stated. "My Palisman is able to consume Palistrom Wood, and spin it into spools of silk thread. From there, I wove it into this."
"An' that works how?" Amber inquired.
"Weaving the Palistrom Silk, works the same way carving a Palisman works, anyway." Kali said. "You have to have a clear visualization of what you want it to be able to do. Every second I was weaving this, I focused on it being able to erase any and all Sigil Magic it targets."
"That color scheme. Those are the colors of the Bard, Healing, and Beast Keeping Covens." Raine said.
"Those are the tracks I'm in at Hexside." Kali said.
"Bump's allowing for multi-track courses now?" Raine asked.
"It was all this bright bulbs idea." Eda said, ruffling Kali's hair proudly. "She convinced him to do it, by saying it was so the students could learn which track best suited them."
"Even before all this, I was starting little rebellions of my own." Kali snickered. "Even Amity Blight, is taking part in the course, despite her mothers protests."
"Not a bad start." Katya said. "But does the glove work?"
"It's operational." Kali said, slipping the glove on and powering it up. "Trouble is, it doesn't work on the person wearing it, and it needs someone with a Sigil to work it."
"Then you've got your guinea pig right here." Raine said, holding out their forearm.
"What? No, I can't use you as a test subject." Kali said.
"It'll be fine. If you're anything like your grandmother, then I know it'll work." Raine said.
"You're putting a lot of trust into someone you barely know." Amber said.
"Just be quiet Amber. Kali's cool." Katya said. "She helped me break out of the Conformatorium, and even kicked Warden Wrath's ass."
"Alright." Kali sighed, marching around the table, and holding up the glove. "Are you sure about this? I can't promise it won't hurt."
"I have faith." Raine said.
Kali took in a deep breath, as she gripped Raine's arm with her left hand, and placed the Sigil Remover over the Bard Coven Sigil on their forearm. Raine grit their teeth as they felt a searing pain racing through their arm. Eventually, Kali pulled back the Sigil Remover, showing Raine's sigil was glowing, before it died out, with a brighter saturation to the color.
"You feeling okay Raine?" Eda asked.
"I'll be fine. Just stings a bit." Rain said. "That thing might not be as big or clunky as the Sigil Branding Glove, but it's twice as powerful."
"Sorry if it caused any pain. Do you feel any different?" Kali asked.
"Let's see if I can do, Abomination Magic." Raine said. "When it comes to magic I was good at, Abomination Magic came second to Bard Magic."
Drawing a circle in the air over the table, everyone gasped, when they saw a tiny Abomination form, and shaped like a chibi version of Raine.
"It actually worked." Kali said in awe. "I don't believe it, it actually worked. That means my other project might have worked as well."
"Good on you kiddo." Eda smiled.
"Impressive." Amber said.
"Let's get back to the task at hand." Raine smiled. "As much of a boon as this is to our cause, we don't have a way to efficiently use it yet. With our current efforts, we're trying to help as many witches as we can, and freeing those he's captured. An' the next raids take place, here, here, and here." They said, pointing to specific areas on the map.
"Who already marked the areas down?" Kali asked, trying to hide her queasiness.
"I did." Amber said. "Figured I'd save some time while you were removing the magic on the boss's sigil."
"At the same time? What do we do?" Katya asked.
"No need to worry Katya." Kali smiled.
"Mama's got a plan." Eda said proudly.
"You're not our mom." Amber said.
"Think you can call up some of your Guild friends for this Kali?" Eda asked.
"I thought you'd never ask." Kali smiled. "An' I know just who to call for this."
~Hackson Road~
The night was quiet, as the moonlight filtered through the air. The only sound to be heard was the echoing of footsteps, as multiple Covenless Witches were being escorted into the detainment caravan.
"That's it, keep moving." One of the guards said,
As the silence of the night continued, the guards were take by surprise, as a soft gentle humming began.
"Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho." The humming turned into slow soft singing, from a young womans voice.
"What the, where's that coming from?" Another of the guards questioned.
"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Binks' brew." The voice continued softly. "Sea wind blows, to where who knows, the waves will be our guide. Oar across the oceans tide, raise of sunshine far and wide, birds they sing, of cheerful things, in circles passing by."
"Who's singing that eerie song?" One of the guards questioned, as a soft icy fog rolled in.
"Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho. Yohohoho, Yohohoho." The voice continued, before the silhouette of the singer came out of the fog, showing she had a sword at her hip, wearing a BATS mask. "Greetings Coven Dogs, hope you enjoyed my little performance for you. I'll kindly ask that you release those in the caravan."
"Who do you think you are?" One of the guards asked.
"We won't release these wild witches just because you asked nicely."
"An' your singing was eerie."
"Eerie you say?" Kali asked. "Apologies, then maybe you'll like this next one a bit more." She said, walking towards them. "I've been working especially hard to master this one."
The guards put up their defenses, as Kali stepped forward, drawing her sword. To their confusion, Kali just walked past all three of them, not even swinging her sword once, before she stopped next to the caravan entrance. Raising her blade and scabbard, Kali began slowly sheathing her weapon.
"Three verse humming…" Kali said softly.
"She's left herself wide open, get here." One of the guards called out, as they jumped her.
"Arrow Notch Slash!" Kali stated, slamming the hilt of her blade into the scabbard.
Instantly after she'd completely sheathed her blade, the guards all fell to the ground, their bodies wracked with pain, before passing out.
The instant they were unconscious, Lucy came out from around the corner, and began escorting the prisoners, while Virgo rounded up the guards. Once all the guards were tossed into the back of the caravan, Kali used her magic to send it on its way to the Conformatorium, where they would most likely get reprimanded for their failures.
"What about the prisoners?" Lucy asked.
"Grandma and the others should already be helping them to get out of the city." Kali said, removing her mask. "Belos doesn't have as much reach outside the cities, to these Witches should be safe from him out in the wilderness."
"But won't they get attacked by wild animals?" Lucy inquired.
"That's why I had you summon Virgo. While I took care of the guards, she built that hidden shelter I gave her the blueprints for, in that cave those scam artists had been working out of when they fooled Gwendolyn." Kali said. "Wild animals won't be able to get to them from there so long as they keep the boulder in place, hiding them from the rest of the world."
"Smart thinking." Lucy smiled.
~Morning~
"Ugh, I can't believe it's morning already." Eda groaned, as the BATS made their way back to their hideout, with Derwin being carried on Katya's back.
"I'm not tired yet." Amber said.
"Amber, you've gotta calm down." Katya said, making them all laugh.
"So Kali, where'd Lucy go?" Eda questioned as they made it back into their base.
"I sent her back to Earthland. I paid her for her work, and sent her on her way." Kali yawned.
"So, Fairy Tail's like a Guild of Mercenaries?" Raine asked.
"No, nothing as barbaric as that." Kali said. "We're a Guild of Mages. We just take on various jobs and stuff like that, regulated by the Magic Council."
"Let me guess, you're forced to join a Guild?" Amber asked.
"Quite the opposite actually." Eda smiled. "You're free to join a Guild if you wanna be recognized as a mage, but it's not mandatory. It's a lifestyle people are free to choose."
"An' many choose it, because working in a Guild, allows for freedom, adventure, and thrills that you wouldn't be able to experience working a normal office job." Kali smiled. "Plus, there's no real age limit on when you can join. The minimum requirements depend on the Guild you wanna join as well."
"So they're governed by a Council, but still maintain their independence." Katya said.
"Basically the Magic Council is just around to dish out punishment if certain laws have been broken, such as conflict between Guilds. That's been outlawed since the Guild Wars over a century ago during First Master Mavis's time." Kali explained.
"The more I hear about these Guilds, the more I wanna join one." Amber said. "Which Guild are you from Kali?"
"I'm from Fairy Tail. The Strongest Guild in Fiore." Kali smiled. "I'd be happy to take you to join sometime if you'd like."
"Would the Guild Master approve though?" Katya asked. "I mean, we're not exactly the most inconspicuous people around in human based realms."
"You don't gotta worry, Grandpa would be more then happy to welcome you to our Guild Family." Kali stated.
"Sounds like you're tight with the Guild Master if he's letting you call him Grandpa." Katya smiled.
"Oh it's more then that." Eda smiled. "Kali here, it the Guild Masters Granddaughter."
"You're kidding." Amber gasped.
"An' she's actually at the top of a list of people, being considered to take Makarov's place once he decides to retire." Eda said.
"No I'm not Grandma." Kali said. "I'm not worthy of being his replacement."
"Don't sell yourself short kiddo." Eda smiled. "You're worth more then you think."
"Can we please just focus on what's important right now?" Kali questioned. "We managed to pull off something incredible tonight."
"She's right, we actually helped people this time." Katya said.
"That was amazing." Raine said, lying back.
"Rainstorm." Eda smiled, stepping up to where they laid.
"Haven't heard that in a minute." Raine laughed.
"Oh, you've gotten so strong, it's incredible. But how'd you become Head Bard with your stage fright?" Eda asked.
"I'm just that good." Raine said. "What about you, still know any Bard Spells?"
"Oh, you remember my curse, it messes with my magic." Eda said.
"Just tell him the truth Grandma." Kali said. "Your magic is gone."
"Oh that's right, I forgot about that happening, sorry." Raine said. "Onto another topic, I got questions."
"Shoot." Eda smiled.
"Which one, between you and Kali's grandfather, carried the pregnancy?" Raine asked.
"I did." Eda said. "I was the one who was pregnant with Kali's father. The people of Earthland, don't have the same biology as us, so it wasn't a competition."
"What are you talking about?" Kali asked, sounding very confused.
"I'll… explain it to you later." Eda said. "Right now you should be focusing on getting some rest. I know you love music, and that's why you chose the Bard Track as one of your three."
"What about you Kali, know any Bard Spells yet?" Raine inquired. "Or do you just know the basics taught at school?"
"I've written a few, but they're not any good. There's this one song I wanna try singing with Bard Magic, but I'm afraid of what might happen if I use it." Kali stated.
"That's a shame. Still, why don't you give us a show?" Raine asked, making a lute appear over Kali, before it landed in her arms.
"Oh, I'm not good with a lute." Kali said. "But I do have a Guitar at home that I'm awesome at."
"Aren't they the same thing?" Eda asked.
"Not quite." Kali smiled. "Guitars are more, like an upgraded version of a lute. They're similar yes, but they're not the same. But why don't you show me some of what you could do? You're not required to have magic to play music."
"Alright, I guess I could show you a thing or two." Eda smiled, before she began to play.
Moments after Eda began playing the song, things started to go weird. Kali saw that the flames on the candles were grey, and burning hotter then ever, while the black light was eating away at everything, even Raine's earring.
"Whoa." Kali gasped, before Eda stopped.
"Ha, Raine's Rhapsody, more like Eda's Requiem, am I right?" She questioned, giving the lute back to Raine. "I-I'll leave the playing to the professionals." She said, as she took her leave. "Call if you need me."
"Bye Mama Eda." Amber called out.
"That was… something else." Kali said. "I had no idea, Grandma's curse could be used in such a way."
"It might just be our ace in the hole, if we end up facing off against some powerful foes." Raine said.
"I should head out." Kali said. "Today's the day of the Gland Prix, and I can't let King and Luz down by not showing up."
"Alright, take care of yourself." Raine said. "An' I hope they win."
~Grand Prix~
"Eda, Kali." Luz cheered as she and King raced to them as they made it to the Prix, giving them both a hug, wearing her Grudgby Gear. "I'm so glad you two made it."
"Are you kidding me? I wouldn't miss this for the world." Kali smiled, picking up King with a hug. "How you feeling little man?"
"Nervous." King said. "I would really, like to tell you something before the race starts."
"Well, if it's so important, we can talk about after you and Luz win the race." Kali smiled, putting her forehead to his. "Just remember to have fun. An' if you don't win, we can always make a video and put it only for streaming, okay?"
"Uh, yeah, yeah, okay." King said.
"Welcome everyone, to the Gland Prix." Gus's father called out, as Gus was doing the announcements with him. "Contestants will fly down the right arm, to the Cubital Valley. They use speed, cunning, and magic to race to the checkpoint, and back to the finish line. The winners, get their names etched on the cup of Ephemeral Glory."
"All victory is fleeting." The trophy stated.
"An', an on camera interview. Seen by everyone watching across the isles."
"King looks so nervous." Kali said from her seat in the stands. "I hope he and Luz can win this."
"On your marks, get set…" Gus's Dad called out.
"AAAHHHH!" The trophy cried, signalling the start of the race.
"Go baby go." One of the other moms cried out. "Which one is yours? This is so exhilarating."
"The little fur baby in the backpack riding on the humans back." Kali said, pointing to the projection as it had a clear view of Luz and King.
"Oh he's so adorable." The woman said. "But my little girl's gonna win this."
"Oh, we'll see about that." Kali smiled.
"Kali, Raine's group got a tip about another raid." Eda said. "C'mon we gotta go."
"But King's race…"
"There's plenty of time before it finishes." Eda stated. "We need to go now."
~The BATS~
"Are you sure this is where the source said the raid would happen?" Kali asked. "This doesn't look like it's anywhere near the bunker Virgo built, and I don't see anywhere the witches could use to hide."
"This should be the spot." Raine said, bringing forth their violin, and playing a note. The cord echoed through the area around them, only to come back with nothing.
"I'm not liking this." Kali said, pulling her Portal Blade from her chest. "I'm not liking this one bit."
"Something isn't right." Raine said.
Kali looked to the others, before looking down to their feet as she felt something wrap around them.
"Abomination goo?" Kali questioned, before a familiar scent hit her nose. "It's a trap!"
Jumping into the air, Kali used her Gum-Gum powers to bring the others with her away from the goo, before it could swallow and envelop them. Using her free hand, Kali created a portal, leading straight to Earthland, specifically the Fairy Tail Guildhall, and threw them through it.
"Where'd you send them?" Raine questioned, as the portal closed.
"Fairy Tail." Kali said, grabbing both Raine and Eda by the wrist, and pulling them away into hiding. "Gramps will help them, and keep them safe."
Looking out from their hiding spot, Kali's eyes widened when she saw who was standing on the other side of the bridge.
"Coven Heads Darius and Eberwolf." She hissed. "It was a trap."
"So what now?" Eda asked.
"I have an idea, but you're both gonna have to trust me." Kali said, looking to them.
While Kali was explaining her plan, Darius and Eberwolf looked none too happy.
"This place is disgusting. Figure out where they went, so we can get out of here, and leave." Darius said.
"Darius, Eberwolf."
Both Coven Heads looked to who called them, and saw Kali standing there, with her blade drawn, and her scabbard on her hip.
"Oh my, if it isn't Kali." Darius smiled. "You must have been the one who helped the others, slip from our little trap."
"What are you two doing here?" Kali questioned with a sigh, sheathing her blade. "You do know you and the BATS are on the same side right?"
"I'm aware, but we have to keep up appearances with Belos, and he asked us to take care of this matter." Darius sighed. "I assume you know who the turncoat is? We simply wanna ask him to join our own rebellion."
"Raine Whispers." Kali said. "They're actually an old flame of my grandma's."
"Interesting, so I'd assume she was their inspiration for starting this little rebellion?" Raine inquired.
"You'd actually be right about that." Kali smiled.
"I know that we have a lot to discuss, but I'm afraid that we need to rough you up a bit and…" Darius stopped when Eberwolf jumped between them, and growled. "What in the world has gotten into you?"
"Oh no." Kali blushed.
Eberwolf just turned from Darius, and jumped over the gap on the destroyed bridge, before landing next to Kali, and climbing up her back, and putting a hand to her stomach.
"You're kidding." Darius said, knowing what Eberwolf was saying. "Kali is this true? Are you pregnant?"
"Yeah." Kali sighed. "When Sapphire merged with me, her babies became mine, as they used two of my eggs, to create their bodies after having been turned into pure magical energy. Thus turning them into my biological children."
"Oh well, this certainly is a surprise." Darius said. "My condolences on Sapphire, and my congratulations on this joyous occasion. When are you due?"
"When my body catches up with their growth." Kali stated. "I'm already pretty big, just using a concealment belly compressor to hide it. The babies aren't in danger from it, but it's more convenient if there aren't rumors floating around about me being a slut who likes getting knocked up."
"I see. Well I certainly hope the delivery goes well for you." Darius smiled. "Now, I believe your human friend, is currently participating in the Gland Prix."
"Luz is. So is King. We're hoping the broadcast will be enough to send a message to his father." Kali stated. 'Even though we're currently living atop his fathers corpse.'
"Well, we shan't keep you any longer. Go on and return to the Gland Prix." Darius said.
~Gland Prix~
"Luz of Hexside, and Ukla of Glandys, are barreling towards the finish line." Gus's dad said, as Kali ran to the Gland Prix, spotting Eda there.
"Eda." Kali gasped, stopping behind her. "Where's Raine?"
"They got caught by Kikimora." Eda said. "Those Abomatons are a lot fiercer then they appear."
"Yeah, Stinky-Petey can be a nuisance with that thing. Did I miss the race?" Kali asked.
"No, Luz and King are just about to finish it." Eda said, as she turned around, right as the duo raced through the finish line, with Ukla not far behind.
"An' there you have it, Luz over Ukla."
"That's one funny finish line photo." Kali laughed, as Luz and King landed, with King hopping down from the bag.
"For fifth place."
"Huh?" Eda and Kali questioned.
"Sorry guys." Luz said, as Araña crawled onto Kali's shoulder. "We didn't win."
"It's my fault." King said. "I was outside the bag for too long, and I got sick and threw up, forcing us to stop."
"Hey, it's okay." Kali smiled, picking King up. "You did your best. An' don't you dare, even think about throwing that message in the garbage. Because it belongs right here, in your heart." She said, poking his chest.
"Thanks mom." King said, hugging her.
"But seriously, take a breath mint." Kali huffed, popping one in his mouth. "I don't need to be throwing up myself."
"Okay." King said. "But… how am I gonna get my message out to my dad now?"
"Did you forget about what I promised?" Kali smiled, pulling her PCL from her hair.
"C'mon, who's even gonna watch this?" King asked, as Kali put him down, and she set up her PCL to float while streaming the video.
"No one watches Crystal Balls anymore, it's all about streaming." Eda said.
"All right." King said, before the camera focused in on him. "Ahem. Hi, Dad. If you're out there watching this, I uh, wanna introduce myself. I like cheesy foods, and Conquering Kingdoms. Though I, haven't conquered any of my own yet. But maybe you have, and we can compare notes. I'd love to meet ya, we could do parent kid stuff. Toss a ball, burn some cookies, catch me going on some, weird websites or something."
"Not if I have anything to say about it." Kali stated, her voice coming in from off screen.
"That's Kali." King said. "But, I found this symbol in the tower I hatched in, maybe you could teach me to read it? I live with my favorite human, a cranky old witch, and Kali, who's been somewhat of a mom to me since I met her. But she can be a bit cranky herself."
"Hey." Kali and Eda said.
"But, cranky or not, she and Eda are the ones who've been taking care of me, and have been raising me. Which is why, I'm legally changing my name to King Clawthorne." King said with a laugh, pulling the papers from his fanny pack. "Surprise Kali. Now we're connected for life, and there's nothing you can do about it."
"Is that… what you wanted to tell us this whole time?" Kali asked, getting emotional as the camera turned to her, Luz, and Eda, with Kali taking the paperwork.
"An', if you sign here… it'll be official." Luz smiled, handing a pencil to her.
Kali was speechless, as she looked to King, her expression saying she was about to cry.
"Kali, are you okay?" Luz asked, before Kali broke down crying.
~Darius and Eberwolf~
"Kali, if you keep doing that, I'm gonna cry to." Luz said, sounding like she was about to cry, their voices echoing from Eberwolf's Penstagram as he sat on Darius's shoulder.
"Would you look at that. Seems like she's more of a mother then she thought." Darius smiled, as they made their way back through to their base. "She's gonna have her hands quite full. Let's avoid bringing her into any shenanigans."

Answering a quick question from Fire Turtle here.
Devil Fruit Powers, are nullified by magic, since always.
Both Haki and Magic come from ones soul, and is produced my ones own will. So they're both of properties that can nullify Devil Fruits, as both derive from the soul.
Also, Ch25 wasn't updating like it was supposed to, so I had to delete it and re-post it, and that's why everyone got notified about Chapter32 being re-posted.
An' yes, I did use a similar vibe setting for Binks' Brew from One Piece Ep348. The opportunity was right there, and I took it.
Also, I'm thinking of giving Luz and Amity a fusion ability. But you're not gonna like how it happens, at least when how it's initiated is revealed.
Also, for anyone confused from the scene with Raine questioning who carried the pregnancy, I have a theory on how a child with two fathers, can be related to both of them, on the Boiling Isles.
