Yuna walked to the center of the platform, and Bahamut flew up and made his presence known. Yuna ran over to the edge, and put her arms up to stop him. Paine noticed her running, and ran after her. Following what I said, Paine pulled Yuna away from the edge and brought out her weapon. Yuna seemed torn, and I hated it.
"He is possessed! To save him, we have to defeat him. Yuna, we need you!" I screamed in tears. That shook her back to the present. She donned her songstress dressphere, and kept him in the dark. We kept the same pattern as the last battle, and I was almost out of Mana when he burst into pyreflies.
Yuna fell to her knees, and I couldn't think of any way to help her. Everyone was in shock. But I knew what comes next would be worse on everyone. Just then, Buddy came on the intercom.
"Hey, guys! We have problems. Get back here pronto!" It had started. I motioned Auron to grab Zaon as I scooped up Sora and started taking off for the airship. Auron tried to ask me questions, but I shook my head. I would have to tell him later, but for now I couldn't.
Auron and I had a long run but thanks to years training, we made it in record time. I never looked if the girls were behind us, but I guess they realized we took off and ran after us. We thundered up the ramp to the engine room and still holding the boys, rode the elevator to the bridge. Only then did I put Sora down. Auron literally dropped Zaon, who cried out when his knees hit the ground. After making sure Auron didn't drop Zaon on his head, I addressed Buddy.
"How bad?" I croaked, fearing the worse. Buddy paused until he saw the girls, then explained that fiends were pouring out of the temples. Besaid, Kilika were ground zero. But when he mentioned that the travel agency in Macalania was under attack, I knew it was from the temple. There was also a SOS from the Calm Lands, which had to be for the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. Yuna looked terrified.
"We start with Besaid, and work our way to Zanarkand again. We can be your friendly neighborhood Gullwings! That way Yuna can help protect the Calm she fought for." I told them. Yuna and Rikku loved the idea, and we were able to talk Brother, Buddy, and Paine on board. Auron and the boys were ready to follow me, and Shinra just didn't care.
Everyone liked the plan, and soon we were on our way to Besaid Island. I knew Yuna would want to go there first and I could tell by her passing back and forth in front of me. When we landed on the beach, she couldn't get off the airship fast enough. It got so bad that Auron and I had to pick up the boys to keep up with her.
As soon as we got there Lulu briefed us on the situation. Beclem still wanted to burn it down, but Yuna challenged him. If we stopped the fiends at their source, he wouldn't burn the temple. If we failed, he could burn it. It was special to both Yuna and I, so I backed her up. Auron nodded, knowingly. That made both boys ready their equipment.
We entered the Closter of Trials, and memories flooded my memory. Stepping here pregnant with Zaon during my trip with Braska, and then again to fight with Yuna. I couldn't help the tears that sprung into my eyes. Auron walked up to me as if to say something.
"Try to say anything Auron, and I will drown you." I muttered. I guess he heard me since he backed off. Sora seemed to pick up on my mood, and slipped his hand into mine. But we had a job to do, and I meant to do it. I shook my head and headed for the Chamber of the Fayth, sending every fiend I came across into pyreflies. I soon got close enough to see a familiar red-head.
"Wakka! Are you alright?" Yuna cried out as soon as she saw him. He was holding his side in pain. I waited while he told Yuna that what was controlling the fiends was inside the Chamber of the Fayth. Sadly, I knew. I knew what was controlling them, and it would hurt Yuna. But no matter what, we had to do what was needed. To protect the future.
Yuna looked at me, and I just shook my head. I was going to let her lead this time. And she led us inside. There was Valefor, Yuna's first Aeon. She looked heartbroken, and I wished I could spare her the pain. But her self-given duty ruled out and she got ready to attack.
"Is that an Aeon?!" We heard from behind us. It seemed that Wakka had joined the group. Yuna immediately told him to stay back because it wasn't safe. That is when Valefor tried to attack Yuna.
I cast a quick but powerful water spell at Valefor, and it served it's purpose. Valefor stopped and focused on me. I started casting Flare, while Rikku and Paine gave me the time needed to cast it. Valefor took a good bit of damage from Flare once I had casted it. Sora was right behind me with Firaga. By the time Yuna had made sure Wakka was far enough away to not get injured from this battle and back, Valefor was drooping it's head. We kept up the onslaught, until it burst into pyreflies.
We were all exhausted by the time it was over, but we helped get Wakka out and rid of any fiends that were left. Yuna talked to Beclam after we walked out, while the rest of us got Wakka to Lulu.
