Yuna started singing, and Lenne's song echoed through the area. The crowd was hushed and listening. As Yuna sang, Lenne's memories of her final moments reacted to the charged area and displayed themselves on the surroundings. I knew what was being shown and was watching Yuna. Lenne's persona appeared and more memories, darker memories, flooded the area. Everyone was seeing the exact moment of her death, and I was ready to dash to Yuna's side. Seeing Yuna and Lenne back to back singing was magical, but Yuna looked ready to pass out.
I motioned to Zaon to get ready to help Yuna, because I had to control the aftermath. Zaon got into position next to me and as soon as her knees hit the airship, Zaon was by her side. As was Sora. I grabbed the microphone and addressed the crowd.
"One thousand years ago, we know a war broke out. Bevelle and Zanarkand were the two strongest cities. The fighting was said that it could destroy Spira. We all know that the fighting stopped when Sin was born and Zanarkand was destroyed. But Bevelle's weapons were never used. I have seen what is going on at this moment. And let me say that it stinks. Brother against brother. Parents against their children. Does anyone want a conflict like that to happen again? Are you all so willing to create another Sin? As you leave here, think on those questions honestly. Thank you and we wish you get home safe." I was out of breath by then but bowed to the crowd and walked back to check on Yuna.
Yuna was fine and talking to Machen. When I was spotted, Yuna tried to get up but I waved her to sit. I smiled at Machen and asked him to fill me in. He asked what I knew, so I told him.
"Lenne was a summoner of Zanarkand and a talented singer. Shuyin was her guardian and partner. When the war started, summoners were pulled to the front. Shuyin knew that if Lenne went to the front, she would die. So he snuck into Bevelle to use their weapons against them. Lenne found out and followed. Shuyin had been caught and escaped when he saw Lenne. Soldiers were looking for him, and Lenne wouldn't leave his side. So Bevelle's soldiers found them and shot them down. Years later, Yu Yevon saw defeat and created Sin." Machen nodded and said that I was clever. He went on to explain that Bevelle has boasted that their machina could destroy Zanarkand completely, but had never used anything big.
"Vegagun is a risk to Spira. I think that we will have to destroy it, and the last threat from the Machina War. We destroyed Sin, brought by Zanarkand. Now Bevelle's weapon must be destroyed. Doing so will unshackle us from the past completely, and usher in a new era of peace." I chose my words carefully. Yuna quickly agreed, followed by the others.
So first, they decided to visit every place and make sure everything was fine before going to battle Vegagun. So we set a course for Besaid. While we waited to arrive, I told Yuna that I needed to handle some business while there and she was fine with it. So while the rest went to see Wakka and Lulu's new arrival, I found a new house that would fit me and my boys. And I paid for it right then. I told them that I would make arrangements for furniture and our belongings to arrive soon. All I needed was them to be put somewhere safe until we fully moved in.
After that was handled, I joined the others in welcoming little Vidina to the world. I also told Lulu that if she needed expert advice, to just call me. I also warned her that the first six months would have nights with little sleep. She laughed and thanked me. At the bonfire that night, Yuna motioned to us to leave. We followed her and I asked why we were leaving.
"With what is going on, I don't think it is right for me to bond with Vidina until I am back for good." She explained. I smiled sadly. I told her that after Braska died and I was pulled away from this world, I was a wreck. Losing him and having a toddler to take care of, then finding out I was pregnant again... almost destroyed me. After a while, they were my light in great darkness. But that darkness almost swallowed me when Sora started what was called school. My loneliness was so great then that I could have died. And that Zaon and Sora figured out what was going on, and since have made it their goal in life to keep me going.
Yuna only nodded. We boarded the airship, and decided to rest there for the night. As soon as we awoke, we were told that they were ready to drop us in Kilika for our check in. We dropped in and led the townfolk thru the barricades and up to the temple. Then we watched as everyone was reunited. I motioned that we needed to head to Luca, so we all returned to the airship.
Luca was as bustling as ever, but Yuna started running after something. I held everyone back and let her relive her memories. She led us to the docks at the end and I watched as she smiled faintly and clicked her eyes closed as if taking a mental picture. She had done that almost her entire pilgrimage, and I knew why. It was her way to remember things in her own way. I walked calmly over to Yuna and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Are you ready?" I asked with a small smile, she smiled sadly and responded yes. It was time to move on to the Mi'ihen Highroad.
