Something New I am trying. First Crossover that I have attempted. No, I am not abandoning any of my previous stories. I have been going through a tough time, but I'm back and in full swing. Attempting to update at least once a week or so. If you like, dont forget to like and follow for updates which are sure to come :)
Moiraine saw only darkness and felt the cold earth below her. The smell of damp soil filled her nostrils as a slight breeze ruffled her blue cloak and long raven hair. It was oddly quiet. She attempted to move, but only found pain and stillness. Suddenly painfully aware of the object protruding from her collarbone, she lay still. Cursing at herself under her breath she reached out for her connection with Lan, knowing he could feel her, but found him to be far far away. Where, she could not be entirely certain, but he never strayed far, let alone this far without her stubbornness involved.
Something clearly went very wrong when she fought those Trollocs. The last thing she could remember was pouring everything she had left into that spell and falling to her knees. The small little town of Two Rivers must be in ruins now, but why was there soil beneath her and not rubble? Moiraine managed to open her eyes slightly to see a tall, pale man with long black hair roaming towards her. Her vision still hazy she could only make out fuzzy features. Ah, Lan. At last I am weak enough that I barely could feel you... She thought to herself, allowing herself to drift back off into a deep restful slumber.
Severus wandered the forbidden forest, doing his normal rounds to gather herbs for the start of the new year. Summer almost over, and fall beginning to set in, the students would be arriving in just a few short weeks. Very few professors enjoyed coming as early as Severus did to prepare. Minerva was already here and Albus of course but that was about it. Fillius usually arrives a week beforehand and the rest quite a bit closer.
Brought back to his senses by the sight of a ghostly white woman slumped against the ground with long raven locks, blue robes and an odd large lapis ring on her finger. A large spear through her collarbone just below her left shoulder. Dear Merlin, not today. Please don't be dead. That's the last thing I need is to be accused of killing someone. He thought to himself as he rushed over and tested her breathing. Severus swore he saw her eyes flutter open slightly for a mere moment before closing again while he was walking closer, but he could have been mistaken.
Severus carefully scooped her up, her head resting on the nook in his shoulder with his right arm supporting her back and his left under the nook of her knees. The wind blew slightly, rustling her hair and their robes behind them. He made his assent back to the castle, cursing at himself for being so unfortunate to have to be the one to find her.
Making it to the grand entrance at last he quickly made his way down to the dungeons to his private quarters. He lay her gently on the bed and covered her with his covers before tearing some old robes for a tourniquet. He wasn't very versed in healing magic, but being raised in a muggle environment, he was quite educated in the basics of muggle first aid. If he relied on an owl and how fast Poppy could show, she would be dead.
After putting together a poltus, he stood over her for a moment getting up the nerve to pull it out. Lucky it just missed her heart by mere inches he thought to himself. he straddled her, one leg on either side of her hips and prepared himself. This could kill her if I'm not careful. He thought to himself, wondering if he was in over his head this time. He braced the spear with both hands and took a deep breath and held it a moment before pulling quickly and assertively straight up. He tossed the spear to the floor on his right as she began gushing blood.
Quickly he pressed the poltus against her as well as some of the old rags he made out of his robes and pressed, praying he could stop the bleeding. Quickly, she bled through the first so he quickly placed a second stack of rags over and continued pressure. five rounds of this and it slowed enough he could take a longer piece and slide it under her small frame and tie it tight.
He sat on her hips for a moment, looking at the features in this poor woman's face, wondering what she was doing int he woods like that. Surely a muggle wouldn't just happen across the forbidden forest, let alone venture that deep without being devoured by something. He admired her pale skin, paler than before if that was even possible. her nose quaint and long, perfectly proportioned to her face. high cheekbones and very well groomed eyebrows suggested she cared about her appearance however slight. He looked down and seen that the bleeding had slowed significantly if not stopped. He carefully dismounted her and covered her the rest of the way with his blankets.
Severus then added wood to the fireplace, hoping to keep her warm, she had lost a lot of blood. Severus then sat at his desk and began to write Poppy a letter, beckoning her to the school a bit earlier than she would have normally came.
Poppy,
I hope this letter finds you well. I know I don't normally write you, but this is an urgent matter. I have found a woman in the forest and she was gravely wounded. I have been able to tend to her thus far, but having you here would certainly improve her chances of survival. I am not well versed in the ways of the medwitch. I seem to have it under control for the moment, but implore you to consider coming to the school sooner for the upcoming year than you would have otherwise anticipated.
Yours
Severus
Severus sighed as he rolled it and attached it to the school owl. The screech owl nipped at his finger, drawing the smallest amount of blood, that Severus just instinctively sucked on. The owl flew off and out the door which Severus closed behind it, hoping it found an open window close by and wasn't delayed. Severus sighed. It could be a few days before it got to her, but thankfully Severus knew a little about taking care of sick witches and wizards.
He grabbed a spare blanket and curled up in his armchair and began to attempt to doze off lightly.
The next morning Severus woke to a small noise. Looking up, he noticed the woman barely whimpering in her slumber. Clearly she needed a lot of rest. He walked over to her and felt her forehead. She's burning up he thought to himself. Clearly a sign of infection. He grabbed several of the clean scraps and some fresh herbs before returning to her bedside where he straddled her once again. He carefully removed the dressings, sliding her robes aside, to reveal she indeed had an infection. But not only that, around the pussy wound was long, purple lines, squiggling about outward like branches on a tree. That spear clearly had some sort of potent poison on it. She was going to die if he didn't figure out what poison was used and quickly.
Severus fetched some hot water and took a clean rag and began cleaning the wound to the best of his ability. Pain flashed across the woman's face, but the features were minimal as she was very out of it. Severus took some of his fire whisky sitting on the bedside table and poured a bit on it, hoping to sterilize it. He redressed the wound and got off her, picking up the spear carefully. He took a vial and got as much as he could from the spear carefully and corked it.
It was unlike any poison he has ever seen. It was extraordinary. He couldn't sense any herb or venom he was aware of at all. Severus deciding to start doing some tests to the little he was able to extract hoping it would yield some results he could work with.
Moiraine stirred slightly, only able to get out a few pained whimpers. She decided to conserve her strength. she reached out to her connection to Lan only to find him still far away. slightly closer than before, but very far away. That begged the question as to who was the strange man who carried her here. she could remember the smell of parchment and old books, some unfamiliar herbs as well. She remembered the warmth of his body against hers as he carried her. She could sense she was indoors although it was still chilly but at least she was on what felt like a very comfortable bed.
She didn't feel defiled and her robes were still in place, so she could only deduce good intentions. Her eyes still felt very heavy. She felt a weight on her hips, but didn't have the energy to move. Fully conscious in her still body she could feel him move her robes and change her dressings. Feeling thankful, she allowed herself to drift once again... feeling the poison spread. Lan, where are you?
Moiraine felt herself stir slightly. Able to open her eyes, she looked around hazily. Her vision was still very blurry, but the pain in her shoulder wasn't as bad as it had been. She shifted slightly but felt too week to sit up on her own. She reached out to her connection once again. Lan felt much closer than before. He was coming for her, she could feel it. The pale man shifted into her view. She looked up at him curiously.
"Your awake, don't try to sit up... Let me help" Severus reached for her to assist her to a sitting position, but Moiraine's eyes widened and she gently swatted his hand away with her right.
"If I wanted to sit, I would have asked." She put bluntly, "Nevertheless, I thank you for your assistance." Severus looked a bit taken back but put his usual stoney expressionless face back on quickly.
"I see... Well, Clearly you had yourself handled. I wouldn't need to have intervened you seem to have been poisoned... I found an herbal combination that slows the spread, but you will still eventually die from it if a cure isn't found but... It will buy you some time." Moiraine smiled.
"Of course. Trolloc poison. My sisters should be able to extract it easily enough, I just need to wait here for my warder to make it here." Severus looked very confused
"Trollocs? Warder? Where are you from pray tell?" Again she smiled
"Randland of course. Where are we now?"
"Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. We are located in England." Her face fell
"Seems I am very far from home... males can do magic here without the madness?" Severus looked at her oddly.
"Um... yes. I mean some are mad, but yes men can use magic here."
"Fascinating." Moiraine shifted her weight up to a sitting position with her good arm and winced as she did so, Severus jumping out to catch her if need be but she waved her hand to gesture him away. "I need some food and drink. How long was I asleep?"
"Four days. I worried you would pass several times, but here you stand. I am grateful that this will buy me time to find a cure native to England." Moiraine's expression softened.
"Again.. I thank you. This strange world startles me and I know not of your true intentions." Severus nodded and paused as he walked to the door, and looked back at her.
"I'll return with some food." Severus turned and his robes billowed behind him. Moiraine's eyesight returned slowly and sharpened as time went on before Severus returned with a silver platter of some buns, pumpkin juice, and leak soup. "I didn't know what you are accustomed to, but I wanted to make sure you could keep it down too." Moiraine noticed the mans features, crooked nose, greasy black hair, boney pale hands, deep brown eyes...
"Thank you." she reached out for the platter with her good hand and placed on her lap. she ate quietly while Severus sat in his armchair quietly reading a book, all the while one eye trained on her. when she was finished she looked at him, chin raised. "How did you test this herb combination?" She asked, carefully turning in bed, hoping to stand.
"I simply infected my arm with it to test it on. it would take much longer for it to kill me from an arm nick than a piercing wound near your heart. It was safer that way. Severus lifted his robes revealing a small cut right above his dark mark.
"I feared as much." Moiraine slowly put weight on her feet and glided over to him, making sweeping motions with her hands before pulling out the poison with her abilities. Severus's jaw dropped. "There, all better" She leaned heavily on the back of Severus's armchair at this point as she felt weak.
"Wandless magic that complex... you really are from another world aren't you? Can you cure yourself then?" she shook her head.
"No, only our sisters can cure us, we cannot heal ourselves. It is the way of the Aside." Severus's face fell slightly.
"I see. I will continue the search for better herb combinations to fight it then until you can return to your sisters." She smiled a bit at this.
"I thank you for all you have done. I am Moiraine."
"Severus." Moiraine smiled at him and turned to walk back towards the bed and lost her footing. Severus jumped up and caught her, one hand at her waist, the other wrapped under her right armpit and above the breast, hand just brushing it. Moiraine regained her balance and brushed him off quickly, knowing he probably didn't intend to do that. After all, he could have taken advantage long ago if he had pleased. She smiled and sat at the edge of the bed.
"I fear I just need to rest a bit longer before I can be on my way. My Warder is still very far away, but he should be here in a months time or so. I'm sure he will be quick as he can sense I'm hurt." Severus nodded.
"I do have things to tend to. Poppy is most likely on her way. she is a Medwitch and will be able to tend to you much better than I ever could. I only know crude ways, in that way I apologize." Severus looked over and Moiraine was already fast asleep in his bed. At least she is still alive Severus thought with a relief.
I hope you enjoyed this so far. I do plan on possibly releasing the next chapter either tonight or tomorrow morning :) It is 2 am here at the moment so we will see.
