Chapter 2: The Results and Offers
During the next few days, Hayato had strategized with Harry, Miwa, Severus, and three others about the upcoming raid in Little Hangleton. Harry felt that since Voldemort brought him all the way from Hogwarts to the village, it must hold some degree of importance to him. He remembered that a few weeks ago when Voldemort had him abducted and regained his body, he reminisced about his parents living in the village. From what was known, Voldemort's father lived in a manor on top the hill, and his mother was an unknown at the time. But after some digging and discreetly asking the villagers, an elderly couple explained that a shack was outside the village in the woods.
The elderly gentlemen described that three people who were very poor once lived there, two males and one female. Not to mention insane. When pressed for more information, they described the shack as cursed as no one dared to go anywhere near it. Anybody who did would either be dead or come back forever changed.
Harry instantly knew that sounded like something Voldemort would do and swiftly brought the intel back to HQ. Later Severus confirmed his theory when he discreetly discovered that a squad of Death Eaters was stationed to guard the shack. But, of course, he had to be careful; if anyone saw him lurking, it would be trouble!
Finally, the time had come for them to proceed with their plan. At around midnight, they dressed in battle gears and made sure they had their masks to cover their faces. Stealthily they swiftly moved through the forest until they were a mile away from their destination. Cautiously they moved through the woods, which Miwa found creepy as it was a strange location to choose for a house, or else an odd decision to leave the trees growing nearby, blocking all light and the view of the valley below. When they finally got close enough, they hid amongst the dark trees and spotted eight different individuals wearing Death Eater masks.
"We have to be quick and thin them out," Severus analyzed the wards and Death Eaters. "If one of them is left conscious, then…he or she will alert the Dark Lord and others to our presence."
"That is only part one, though," the Magus to Hakugarai's left whispered. The wards were like nothing he had ever seen before, and the readings he was getting indicated that they were extremely deadly. "For after we get done with them, we'll have to disable the wards."
"One problem at a time," the other Magus that came with them whispered. "Shadow, are you sure you're up for this?"
Rubbing his right arm where a metal bracelet was attached. He hated the contraption with a passion; after he was healed, the Healers slapped the bracelet onto him as his core began going through its maturity. This, however, restricted the use of his magic as he could not do anything excessive while it began changing. Even though it was annoying, he had other skills to compensate. "Don't worry about me. You two remember the plan."
Two of them went to cover the right side of the broken house, while Hayato and Miwa went to the left, and Severus went with the other to cover the back. Once everyone got into position, Hayato and Miwa began by transfiguring the rocks near them into Red deer's. They sent out the first one, which seemed like it couldn't be older than 2 or 3 years old.
"I hate it here. This place sends chills down my spine," one of the dark hooded individuals said, much to the enjoyment of his teammates.
"Don't be such a baby," the person to his left mocked him. "We are not in any danger here, and don't forget that the Dark Lor—"
"Shh," the heavy Nigerian accent of their partner beside them cut him off. "Did you hear that?" The howling of the wind made the leaves rumble.
"It's probably just your imagination again, Katlego." He looked forward to see a deer emerge from the dark woods. "See, it's just a little Red deer."
The deer then did suddenly unexpected. It stood up on its back legs and started performing capoeira moves. The three Death Eaters were stunned as they couldn't believe what they were seeing. A deer was performing the Brazilian dancing style.
"This is a train wreck," exclaimed the one on the left, "but I can't look away." He was unable to tear his eyes away from the dancing deer.
Soon there was another rustle from the bushes, and two more of its kind emerged, looking older. While one watched the show, the other stomped forward until it was in front of the middle of the trio. As the Death Eater ignored the deer to watch its friend, the thing sat on its butt and hit the man right in the gut with its hooves. Unfortunately, the thing didn't stop as it kept stomping on the fool's body, much to the enjoyment of his companions. While they were distracted, the other deers went and attacked them.
With the first group distracted, Severus conjured a half dozen bats while the others conjured four grizzly bears. Everything was going according to plan as the animals continued going at the Death Eaters. Once they were all together, Shadow cast a wide area confundus charm to make them dizzy and right when they were about to retaliate. Next, he conjured some red and blue darts and launched them at their feet, blanketing the area with purple smoke.
Almost instantly, their victims fell unconscious to the ground.
"Phase one is complete," Hayato, Severus, and magi quickly added full body bind spells and put them under the ear buzzing charm. "Now, for phase two," he looked to his right and saw Shadow staring intently at them. "Is there a problem?"
To everyone's surprise, Shadow stomped on the Russian's nose, breaking it, and kicked the African in the groin. "These two were present when Tom regained his body." It was clear to them that he still held a grudge against them.
Severus placed a hand on him before he could kick either of them again. "Remember, why we are here," lightly chastising and squeezing his shoulder. Reluctantly Shadow took a step back. "If what you've said is true, then we may have gotten a much bigger prize."
Taking his wand, he used legilimency on the two to confirm their presence at the graveyard. A few minutes after looking through their memories, he took out a vial and extracted the memory from one of them while erasing everyone's magical signature.
Pointing his wand at the wards, he waved it in an intricate pattern to see what kind of wards they were dealing with. "This is definitely his work," he began. "It seems that he combined some of the deadliest of wards and pulled them together into forming a nearly impenetrable defense." Continuing with his work, he found something else "if we remove one of them, then the alarms will alert him to our presence."
"We will have to be extremely careful," Shadow added. "Unlike the standard wards and enchantments, he did them in parseltongue. Also, it would appear that they're constantly being fueled by the magical ley lines. One misstep and we can kiss this mission goodbye." Say what you want about Voldemort, but the bastard knew how to create powerful wards and tie them to the magical ley lines around the world.
Hakugarai stepped forward. "Partner, it's your party. How do you want to blow out the candles?"
He looked at everyone for a moment and could tell they were with him. Giving a grateful nod, he activated his special sight and scanned the wards for any of its triggers.
The search may have been difficult, but he found three of them. "Good news is that I found them." He pointed to the areas where the triggers were. "However, the bad news is that we will have to hit them all simultaneously, and I will have to briefly cut the magical ley lines." He mentally groaned as he knew this was going to hurt.
"Spread out! Divide into groups of two. Get as close as you can to the triggers and, on my signal, cast the shielding penetrating, and blasting spells on them. Keep the spells going until I say so," ordering them. "While you all deal with that, I will handle the ley lines. Between our combined assaults, we might be able to disrupt the wards long enough to get our prize and go."
Everyone moved to their respective positions with their wands ready. "All right, on the count of three. One…Two…Three!"
The group immediately hit the triggers and ley lines with their spells with their combined attacks. The process had proven to be strenuous for the people dealing with the wards because one group used the shield penetrating charm to create an opening. The others used the blasting curse on the triggers. However, the most important job was for Shadow to disrupt the flow of magic used by the ley lines. Manipulating and destroying wards were one thing, but disrupting the ley lines of the magical world was dangerous and potentially deadly.
Despite the bracelet's backlash, he continued powering through the pain as nothing else mattered than destroying another of Voldemort's Horcruxes. It took a while, but he finally called for them to stop as he successfully stopped the flow of magic. Crumpling to the ground, he clutched his right arm.
"I estimate we have about six minutes before ley lines break through and recharge the wards." He informed them. As Severus helped him to his feet, two Magi went to unlock the door; finding no other security measures, they opened the door and cautiously proceeded forward.
Once inside, the others saw how disgusting the shack truly was. The place had truly deteriorated after Merope fled. It looked like the shack hadn't been cleaned in over forty years.
Expanding his senses, Harry felt a large amount of dark magic coming from underneath the decrypted floorboard. "Move, quick," told the Magus who stood on top of it. The man immediately jumped out of the way as his teammate blasted the ground only to reveal a golden box.
Hayato levitated the box out and silently opened it. The only thing inside was a gold ring with a black stone in the center. Feeling drawn to it, Hayato began to reach down but was stopped when Shadow summoned him. "Don't touch it! Voldemort put a curse on it that will likely kill whoever it comes into contact with."
Quickly conjuring a box and adding protective enchantments, he transferred the ring from one box to the other. Before he could catch a breath, he felt the magic slowly returning to the wards. "We need to get out of here. Now!" Everybody rushed out of the shack.
Safely back outside, the group proceeded with the plan's final phase.
Shadow dropped the ring on the grass while Severus, Hayato, and two of the Magi altered their memories and the history of their wands. They did this in case Voldemort wanted to check on his prize or demand to know what happened in his absence.
Unsheathing his sword, concealed on his right hip, he stabbed the ring. Similar to what happened to Rowena's diadem, the black screeching fog of Voldemort's soul came out and quickly evaporated. With the band destroyed, Shadow waved his hand to vanish it completely. Just as he was about to turn away, he felt some ambient magic coming from the black stone. The magic was different and yet strangely familiar. "Call me crazy, but this stone is different. It has a different magical signature that seems ancient."
Slowly levitating it back into the box, he put the thing in his watch and sheathed his sword. "I'll run some diagnostic spells on it later to see what it really is."
Receiving a nod, they looked back to see if his companions were done. "That should do it," Severus said, pocketing his wand. "They'll wake in about four minutes or so. I suggest we not be here once they do.
The group then apparated away, though Harry decided to take one of his new spells for a test drive. In that single moment, he transported himself back to the Citadel.
Six of Voldemort's Horcruxes were destroyed, with only one remaining.

The next morning at Greengrass manor Daphne finished getting dressed and looked herself over in the mirror. Unlike other girls from school, she hardly ever used makeup unless it was for special occasions, but even then, she only applied a little bit. But not today, as she had no desire to use any.
Two days ago, after work, she, along with Tracey, Nicole, Lilith, Astoria, Emily, and Luna, went to the Spa in Diagon Alley for some girl time. The ladies enjoyed themselves immensely as they got massages, spent time in the steam room, and enjoyed the outdoor hot spring. Daphne and Nicole even went to the hair salon. Taking in her new appearance, her blond hair was now medium shoulder length. Then finally, she reached for the locket on her desk. It was a gift from Harry and became one of her most prized possessions. The device had two pictures. One of her and her family. The other was her and Harry sleeping underneath the tree when they went to Japan. Clasping it around her neck, she left the room and went downstairs for breakfast.
By the time she made it to the dining room, her parents were already eating and discussing the events in the Ministry. After wishing them a good morning, she sat and began eating her breakfast. Not long after, Astoria arrived and sat next to her mother.
Both of the young Greengrass girls knew why their parents were so concerned. Cyrus was particularly on edge at Fudge's attempt to gain more power. The security force around Britain was low, and the members of the Dark faction were slowly gaining power. What really made his blood boil was that Lucius and Theodore had stepped up their attempts to try and propose a marriage contract between their son and his daughter. Lord Nott even had the audacity to subtly threaten him into signing, which didn't go over well as Cyrus banished him from his home.
That was only the beginning of his many concerns, as Lucius and Dumbledore wanted him to align his family with them. He, of course, denied them as neither of them was to be trusted.
"I am looking forward to the third," Cyrus groaned, massaging his temples. He and Roxanne would be staying in Cancun for a couple days to celebrate their anniversary. "Remember, you two, that Isabella will be checking in every now and then. So, please don't give her too much trouble."
Daphne rolled her eyes as they have been over this like a hundred times already. "Dad, we know what is at stake. Besides, I'm pretty sure me and Tori can manage without you and mom. Remember, I'm the good child here."
Astoria shot her a glare. "What does that make me then?"
"You're the troublemaker," she grinned at her.
"Well, you're the—" she was interrupted by the arrival of one of the house elves.
"What is it, Mickey?" Cyrus mentally sighed as he didn't want to hear his daughters bicker. The two had a love/hate relationship. Even though they cared for one another, they still got on each other's nerves.
"A Mr. Severus Snape has arrived and is waiting in the sitting room," the elf squeaked.
"Thank you, Mickey. You may go now," Cyrus dismissed him as he and the others walked into the sitting room to see Severus standing by the fire.
Cyrus and Roxanne greeted him and asked if he wanted any coffee, which he respectfully denied. "I just came to deliver your daughter's results," reaching into the pocket of his robe, he pulled out the envelope and gave it to her.
Immediately Daphne grabbed and ripped the thing open, much to the amusement of the adults. Pulling it out, she read it:

"Wow," she was completely gobsmacked as she got outstanding's in all her subjects and even obtained six distinctions. "I never thought I would get distinctions. Let alone six!" The Rituals and Healing exams were most difficult, but all of the self-studying combined with the notes she got from Harry seems to have helped.
"Way to set the bar high, Daphne. Now, our parents are going to expect the same of me," Astoria gave her a mock glare even though she was really happy on the inside. Giving her a quick hug, she whispered, "good job."
Daphne kissed her sister on the head before handing her results to their parents.
"That's my girl!" Cyrus exclaimed, giving her a big hug. This was quickly followed by one from Roxanne, who was equally happy.
"There is more," a smile appeared on his face. "I have spoken with your other professors, and they are impressed with your results. Even though Septima wanted to be present, she had other matters to attend to first, so she sent me with an offer for you." He stated firmly.
"As you already know, you've been considered as a potential candidate to become our apprentices and obtain masteries in our respective fields," his silk voice reminded her of what he was talking about. "Given your OWL results, we feel like you would be able to pass your sixth-year exams in Defense, Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, Arithmancy, and Herbology before the beginning of the second term. Should you prove yourself competent enough, you will be allowed to sit those NEWT exams by the end of the year. And I believe you know what that means?"
Her brain was going a million miles an hour trying to catch up with what was happening. Severus was basically offering her the chance of getting a head start on her masteries. It was like a dream come true!
"Thank you, Severus. This is such an honor," she was overrun with happiness.
"You have earned it," Severus turned to her parents. "Cyrus, Roxanne, have a good day." He turned to leave but was stopped.
"Wait, Severus!" Daphne said. "While you are here, I was wondering if you can give Harry his gift? Today's his birthday." He gave her a gentle nod, and she went up the stairs to her room. It didn't take long for her to return with a neatly wrapped rectangle box.
Receiving his son's gift, he bid them goodbye and left through the floo.
Cyrus beamed at his oldest child with amazement as she had grown into a strong-willed young woman. Much like her mother. Then looking up at the clock, he saw that he needed to leave. "I have to go to work now." Quickly kissing his wife and daughters goodbye, he smiled at Daphne. "I'm so proud of you." Then he was out of the house.
Just when they were about to sit on the couch, the crystals activated, revealing the faces of Aaron and Nicole.
"Morning Greengrasses," the siblings greeted in unison, much like how the Weasley twins usually did.
Nicole then took over "an owl came by a few minutes ago to deliver our results."
"Severus was just here to deliver my OWLs and an offer for me," Daphne replied. "Can you guys come over?"
Aaron cut in before his sister could speak. "Katie is supposed to arrive in a couple minutes. Do you mind if we also bring her?"
"Mom," Daphne looked at Roxanne, who consented with a nod. "That's a yes!"
"All right, we'll be over soon," they cut the feed.
Three minutes later, the Vaisey siblings and Katie arrived through the floo network. Although it was clear that Katie didn't like that method of traveling, given how she almost fell over, luckily, Aaron was there to catch her.
"Nicole, do you want to start things off?" Katie asked sheepishly. She got her scores during breakfast and was surprised by how well she did.
The older girl raised an eyebrow at her as she enjoyed teasing the dark-skinned girl and her brother. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out her results:

A large smile was plastered on Nicole's face as she was satisfied with her results. "Alright, Bell, what do you have to bring to the party?" Beckoning Katie to show her results.
She pulled out her own results:

Katie breathed a sigh of relief. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would get these results. Especially not in Potions or in Transfiguration. "I almost didn't believe my eyes when I got them. Transfiguration and Potions are not my best subjects, and honestly thought I wouldn't score more than an exceeds expectations on them." Making a mental note to thank Harry the next time she saw him.
Aaron quickly recovered and gave a short, sweet kiss. "It would appear that Harry's tutoring sessions did wonders for us. I wouldn't be surprised if half the students who attended scored high on their exams."
"That's enough, little brother," Nicole cut in. "You can snog your girlfriend senseless later," enjoying the sight of watching them blush. Her brother, most of all it, was payback for him walking in on her and Viktor last week.
Silently grumbling, Aaron pulled out his results:

"This definitely calls for a celebration," Katie said cheerfully.
"My thoughts exactly," Daphne agreed. "I say we go to the Mixer tonight and enjoy ourselves."
Astoria soon spoke, "let's invite the others first." She began bouncing on the balls of her feet as she loved the Mixer as the energy and music always made her feel alive.

Later that day, during the evening at Longbottom manor Luna and Neville had just finished training in the dueling room and were about to head downstairs. The young couple was going to meet with the others at the Mixer. When they reached the ground floor, the two were startled to see Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout speaking with Frank, Alice, and Augusta.
It hardly took a minute before the adults noticed them.
The collective looks on their faces said they were in the middle of an important conversation. Frank, though broke the moment of silence. "Ah, Neville, I was just about to send for you," giving his son a smile.
"Is there a problem, dad? Me and Luna were just about to leave," his face was neutral, but on the inside, he was nervous. Why were two of his professors here during the summer? Suddenly, he felt Luna take his hand, giving it a gentle, reassuring squeeze.
"Not at all," Frank said. "I believe your professors have some good news for you." He beamed at one of the two to continue.
McGonagall started by giving him a warm smile. "Mr. Longbottom, I would first like to say how impressed I am with your grades as your marks have improved. And your level of work effort has gotten the attention of our fellow colleagues."
Pomona looked at her favorite student with admiration and added. "I would have to
concur with Minerva. Your overall grades have placed you in the top ten of your classes."
"But that is not why you're here, is it?" Luna asked with a dreamy expression.
"Very astute, Ms. Lovegood," Pomona replied. "You see, the other professors and I have discussed this topic lengthy and have decided. Mr. Longbottom, how would you like to take your OWL in Herbology early?"
That question struck Neville as he was frozen in place. Quickly looking at his parents, he spoke. "Can I have some more details?"
"Of course," she cleared her throat, "your herbology scores for the past four years you've attended Hogwarts have always been high, and I've enjoyed your help in maintaining the many plants in my greenhouses. As you know, my colleagues at Mariah's magical plants are always looking for people who love plants. And they've told me quite a lot about you volunteering for them. According to them, you have a green thumb and a natural affinity for handling plants."
"This brings me to why Minerva and I are here. During the beginning of the last school year, the professors had a meeting with Mr. Potter. We wanted to offer him an apprenticeship after getting his NEWTS; though he was initially reluctant, he nonetheless accepted. At the end of the conversation, he asked us why we haven't considered you for that position, and after much discussion, we've agreed."
Neville could only stare with wide eyes. Harry really did that for him! It was true that they've become good friends and that he helped him in a couple areas, but he never expected this.
"Taking that into account, we have come to a decision," Minerva picked back up. "Should you decide to take the exam early and pass it with flying colors, then you might be eligible to obtain a Mastery in the subject. However, the choice is yours."
At that moment, Neville felt weak in his legs, and it took Luna to prevent him from falling over. She knew how much Herbology meant to him and his dream of opening his own business. "Absolutely!" He yelled in excitement. Quickly composing himself, "I mean yes, of course."
His parents silently chuckled along with Pomona while Minerva gave him a warm smile.
"Very well, Mr. Longbottom. If you are confident with your decision, then I'll speak with Madam Marchbank and schedule an appointment for you," Minerva beamed at him. "I should also point out that all incoming fifth years have to attend: Career Advice with their Head of Houses. Do you already have a preference?"
Before Neville could speak, Augusta cut in. "After he graduates, Neville will be applying to the Auror Academy and –"
"No, Gran. I will not," he cut her off. He knew where she was going with this and didn't like it. His parents might be accomplished Aurors, but that did not mean that he wanted to follow in their footsteps. "Gran, I never wanted to be an Auror, and it's time that you've accepted that I am not my father."
Everyone in the room was shocked. No one more so than his grandmother, who began spluttering. "Neville, you don't understand. I have the perfect future planned out for you and…"
"It's not about what you want," Neville firmly cut her off. "This is not about you, Gran. I love and respect you for everything you've done for me, but that does not mean you get to decide my future." She balked at what he said. "It's time for you to stop looking at me as if I'm a clone of my father because I am not him. I am me. You have made a false projection of me and tried to turn me into something I am not. That ends now!"
"Neville!" Frank gave him a stern look. However, on the inside, he was happy that his son was growing up. "Show some respect to your grandmother."
"I have always done that," he replied heatedly," and like I said, I respect everything she's done for me in your absence. But I do not appreciate being pushed around like a Witch Weekly magazine. You were the one who told me to follow my dreams."
Alice gave him a satisfied smile before turning to Frank. "Dear, he is right as it is his choice. We may be his parents and Head of this house, but we promised to allow him his freedom."
"That is a topic for another time," Frank interjected. "And mom, we will be having a much-needed discussion. One that has been long overdue." He gave her a look that said he was serious.
"But for now, the decision to take your Herbology exam early is completely up to you, son. If you are truly set on the matter, then so be it," clearing his throat and narrowing his eyes. "I do expect you to maintain acceptable grades in your other classes."
"Understood," Neville responded firmly. Then turning his attention to the professor, "please inform me when I am allowed to take the exam."
Minerva liked his look of determination. "After I meet with Griselda, I'll send you a notice." She turned to Pomona. "We should be on our way as there are other things that demand our attention."
The plump woman nodded, and after the two said their goodbyes, they flooed out of the manor.
"We better get going," Luna said."
Neville gave her a curt nod. "We'll be back by 9:30."
"Take your watch and emergency portkey," Alice reminded.
Tapping his left wrist, the concealment charm around his watch deactivated, and he pulled out two balls that had been turned into portkeys. He then gave one to Luna. Together they walked towards the fireplace, grabbed a pinch of powder, spoke the destination where they wanted to go, and vanished through the green flames.
With the kids gone, Frank released a deep sigh as he felt that tonight's conversation was going to be a long one. He knew how protective and stubborn his mother could be, but there were times when she would often go too far.
"Mum, you have got to start seeing the bigger picture here," he began. "Need I remind you that Alice and I are his parents. And we decided it would be best to let him have his freedom. That means to choose his own path, date whoever he wants, etc."
"Frank I—"
"I am not done, mother, and this conversation is long overdue…"

Over at the Magic Mixer, things were amazing as the club was on fire. In fact, the place was packed full of kids and teenagers; most of them were celebrating the fact they had passed their exams. It was days like this when they could relax and be themselves. The bottom floor was already packed as the teenagers were dancing, singing, or eating food. On the top floor, Emily and the others were also gorging on their meals while they listened to the music.
Aaron, Adrian, Blaise, and Neville were in the middle of a conversation about the upcoming school year. "I don't know why but for some reason, I get the feeling that the new year is going to be rough."
"That's a given," Blaise took a sip of his butterbeer "some of us have to take our OWLs, and I'm not looking forward to them."
"Yeah, you and me both," Neville chuckled lightly. "At least I can get my Herbology exam out of the way early."
"It's not that, guys…" Aaron gave Adrian a curious look "…you have one of those weird feelings again, don't you?"
To which Adrian nodded. "Fudge can deny his return all he wants, but anyone with a brain and pair of eyes can tell that something is happening. My father has even strengthened the wards around our manor." Shuddering a bit, he continued, "for some reason, I can't shake this pit in my stomach."
"I know what you mean," Blaise came into the conversation. "Both my mother and grandfather have become paranoid. They rarely let me out of the house unless it's under supervision, and I take some precautions."
"Fudge is really becoming a pain as of late. He's bound to get us all killed as long as people like Malfoy keep financially supporting him."
Neville grunted in agreement. "That's for another time. Right now, I say we relax and enjoy ourselves."
"Finally," Lilith exclaimed. "Look, I understand what you guys are saying, but it won't do good to dwell on it tonight. For the time being, let's take advantage of the time we have before returning to school."
Nicole then said, "without further ado, I say we raise a glass in gratitude to the one person who has done so much for us." Everyone raised a raised glass. "Though he might not be present, he has done so much for us and everyone else. To Harry!"
"To Harry," the others said in unison.
"Hey, Emily," Katie started, "I know we've been over this, but I think we can all agree that Harry deserves something special. Because of him, we were able to grow and achieve high marks."
"Katie's right," Angelina said. "Whether he wants to admit it or not, Harry is a kind and generous person. Going out of his way to help others says a lot about his character."
Alicia soon added. "And despite everything he went through last year with the whole tournament fiasco, I'm actually surprised that he is still coming back to finish his masteries. If it were me, I would have taken my results and left." A look of determination came on her face, "however, he does deserve a gift of sorts..."
"…or at least some token of appreciation," Susan finished. A large grin then appeared on her face. "Emily, Blaise, you've known Harry the longest. What's he into?"
"Difficult to say as he doesn't want anything," sitting up straight, she resumed. "Although despite what he will say, there might be something he'd want," she went into deep thought.
A few minutes later, Blaise spoke. "What about a new guitar or a collection of rare books?"
The others looked at him "you're a genius," Tracey smiled. "All we have to do is find some obscure books about the ancient ways. But quick question. What kind of guitar does he like?"
They spent a good half-hour debating about what kind of guitar their friend would want, along with trying to locate an obscure book filled with different branches of magic.
"All right let's write to the others and get them in on the plan. Whether they want to agree or not, they should at least say thanks to him." Hannah wore a proud smirk. "Speaking of Harry, where is he?"
"Don't look at me," Emily turned away as they thought she might know. "I'm not even sure. The last time I saw him, he was being taken away from the Quidditch pitch." It was not a complete lie, as she knew her brother's location but hadn't been able to establish contact with him.
"If I know my brother as well as I do, then he'll show up when we least expect it," she concluded.
"That's a given," Blaise replied "he does like appearing out of nowhere. Damn, those people in Japan. They practically turned him into a ninja."

Two nights later, at the Citadel, all the Magi and trainees were either in their quarters, the lounge, or out on missions. However, a certain emerald-eyed individual was in one of the research labs. Harry spent his time either in the library going through tomes after tomes researching ancient spells or testing out new spells in the training room and the research lab. He couldn't put his foot on it, but the stone he got from Gaunt's Shack emitted an unusually familiar amount of magic. The diagnostic spells he used proved to be ineffective, and any other type of spells seemed to have no effect. Whatever the stone was, it held ancient magic.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing on his mind as he began going through his mom's journal. Before Voldemort killed her, she started creating new spells. Some were completed, but only one had been left incomplete. He was so immersed with the stone that he failed to notice someone entering the room.
"I had a feeling I found you in here," Miwa took a seat next to him.
"Just doing some testing," Harry replied, not taking his eyes away from his notes. "I'm telling you, Miwa, something about this stone feels alive. It's highly unusual."
She scoffed. "The only thing unusual here is you. When was the last time you got any sleep? Or shaved?" Noticing the bags under his eyes and the growing facial hair.
"What is today?"
Letting out a breath from the corner of her mouth. "I figured that would be your response; that's why I brought you this," she pulled out a tray of food for him. "You will need your strength."
"Thanks, but I'm not hungry," after saying that, he immediately started eating some corn.
The only thing she could do was shake her head in disappointment. "For someone who is not hungry, you're sure eating like one." Thinning her lips, "this is what happens when you become so dead set on accomplishing a task. You forget stuff."
"Miwa, please spare me the lecture. I have spent the last couple of days trying to figure out this stone, and the last thing I need to hear is a lecture," he snapped at her. Though quickly regretted it. He knew she cared; like any older sibling, they looked after their youngers. "Sorry, I'm just tired."
She put a comforting arm around him. "This has not been easy on you. Between Voldemort being back, his forces growing. Fudge trying to discredit you, having your magic restricted by that bracelet, and being stuck in this place. I'm not surprised that you are so tired. But I think I may have something that will cheer you up."
"What would that be?"
"Council women Marchbanks has our NEWT results."
"Hallelujah," he praised as they've been itching to get their results for over a month.
"Yeah, so put your notes away and come on. She's expecting us in her office."
He packed his things and put them in his watch. Just as they were about to walk out of the lab, he stopped her by putting a hand on her shoulder. "Wait. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
A mischievous smile appeared on her face. "I like the way you think," she grabbed his arm, and in a split second, he teleported them outside her office.
"I love that spell. It's so much better than apparition." Harry designed the spell to make traveling a lot easier. Even though she hadn't mastered it yet, this new form of transportation was better as she didn't have to worry about accidentally splinching herself. As she couldn't do it wandlessly, she settled for using her wand to aid her.
Knocking on the door, they heard the women say enter, granting them permission to come in. Then, to their shock, they saw two other people in the room.
"Dad? What are you doing here?" They asked in unison, much to their surprise.
Ichika looked at Severus with amusement. "I told you they would speak in unison." He then turned back to them. "And that is not how you greet someone who came all the way here."
Recovering from their shock, the two hugged their parents.
Harry was the first to speak, "what are you doing here? I thought you had to deal with the old goat and snake-face?"
Severus raised an eyebrow "can't a father come and see how his only son is doing?" He rhetorically asked. "Ichika and I are here for a multitude of reasons. One: is to deliver your results," reaching into his pocket, he pulled out an unsealed envelope.
"You opened my letter? Dad!" Snatching the letter away.
"Read it," Severus silently chuckled at Harry's accusation.
Pulling out the letter, he read:

She took a deep breath before opening her letter. Slowly pulling out her grades, her eyes widened.

She would have fallen backward if not for her father, who managed to help her keep balance.
Recovering her rational mind, she mirrored the grin on Harry's face. "We did it!" She said excitedly. They've slaved for these subjects spending long hours in the library and perfecting their skills had left them both exhausted.
"I also have some other good news," Griselda said, bringing their attention to her. Opening one of her desk drawers, she pulled out two envelopes. "These contain your eligibility to enter the Master's program. I think the rest is self-explanatory."
They took their individual letters and silently read them.
"It seems like we're going to be busy. Again," Miwa chuckled.
"Then it's a good thing I've already selected the courses I want to study first," Harry commented. Easily referring to DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions. At the bottom of the letter, he saw both madam Marchbanks's and Quinn's signatures. "Do you have the documents for us?"
"We will get to that in a moment. There's something that I would like to discuss with you," she clasped her hands together and leaned back. "Remember our discussion regarding those tutoring sessions?" He nodded. "It appears you have arrived!"
"What?" He asked, hoping she was talking about the thing he was thinking.
"You see, Harry, for the past two months, my department has been grading the exam scores of both the OWLs and NEWTs." Around mid-March, things for the WEA would always become difficult as they would have to create, grade, record, and send out the exams. "From what my colleagues have reported, the overall average for both exams have drastically improved and are some of the highest we have seen in over sixty years."
A large smile appeared on her face. "Therefore, it is both an honor and pleasure for me to grant you your boon." She handed him another letter which he readily accepted. The documents were authentic with both Marchbanks and Quinn's signatures to approve the legitimacy of the after-class sessions.
Griselda even allowed herself to chuckle as Severus had to manually close his mouth shut.
"So, I take it that no one can deny my entry to the master's program or stop the tutoring sessions?" Harry asked.
"That is right," she knew who he spoke of. Cornelius was becoming increasingly irritable and more of a blithering buffoon. She, like so many others at the Ministry, have grown to resent the portly man as he believed himself to be above the law. He would constantly say something like "I am the Minister of Magic" or something similar to that effect. If anything, he acted more like a dictator, always after more money and power. A Minister of Magic is supposed to be a servant of the people, not someone with an over-inflated ego.
"If Fudge and his entourage have any issues, send them to me or Yasmine." It would be good to take them down a few pegs and a good memory. "Onto another form of business, here are the documents for you to become apprentices. Just sign in the designated areas and write the subjects you wish to study."
With a wave of her hand, the documents, quills, and bottle of ink levitated to them. The entire process took an hour, with Harry writing four subjects while Miwa wrote three: Potions, Ancient Runes, and DADA.
"All right, everything is in order," Griselda filed the papers away. "I'll send your licenses and book lists in two weeks."
Severus then said. "You will also likely obtain your masteries in about two years. Be warned, this will not be easy."
"I know." He already knew that obtaining them would be a long, draining process. "Also, while you're here, can I get you to deliver something to the others?"
"What is it?" Severus raised an eyebrow.
Reaching into his watch, he pulled out a shrunken chest. Adding a quick wave, he resized it back to normal. He then opened it and showed what was inside. "These orbs are similar to the ones I put around our manors and provide a better form of protection. I need you to get them to Blaise and the others."
Severus, of course, knew how powerful the orbs were and the protections they erected. Even the Dark Lord would have a difficult time trying to penetrate through.
It also helped that Miwa was able to finish the project: Nargravitz. So it was a win-win situation. They got to complete their projects and provide their homes with better security. They were even considering starting a business that specialized in designing them.
"The sooner we start the company and get these on the market, then people will not have to be as scared." Miwa took a breath. Her project was more-or-less completed; all she had to do was work out the bugs. They even managed to find other uses for them, particularly Harry, as he was working on another project. "How much longer until this "mystery project" of yours makes a debut?"
He merely shrugged his shoulders "give me a few more weeks. Also, we are renegotiating how much ownership either of us will get for the company."
Miwa could only roll her eyes. This was a conversation that they'd been discussing for more than four months. "I still stand by my decision of thirty-three percent."
"And I say you get between forty-two and forty-six," he argued. "But that is for another time. After the introduction of my creation, then we'll officially create the company."
"Cool! However, we still have to perfect our potion. I still can't believe it's taking this long," sighing in irritation.
"Hey, don't lose faith. I'm pretty sure that between the three of us, we can finish the potion by mid-September," he optimistically said. "After all, three prodigies are working on it."
A grunt made the teens turn to Severus, "Hadrian, I have some other things for you." He took out two wrapped presents from his robes. "This one is from me," gesturing to the one in his left hand, "the other is from Ms. Greengrass."
"Aw, your girlfriend sent you something," Miwa teased. She figured out Daphne and Harry were a couple shortly after the fourth task. Initially, she scolded him for keeping it quiet but later relented and explained the deal they had made.
"Stow it, woman," he playfully pushed her shoulder. Removing the wrapping paper from his dad's gift it revealed a collection of ancient scrolls. All of them had Sumerian symbols on their handles. "Thanks, dad," hugged his father before opening his gift from Daphne.
Opening the lid, he discovered an ancient brown book inside that said: A Guide to Mastering Ancient Battle Magic. "Damn, I love that woman! She really understands me."
"Be careful little brother. Remember, you can't do a lot of magic until your magic fully matures."
Harry groaned. "Don't remind me. I have to wait until the 25th before I can take this thing off," referring to the bracelet. He truly hated the contraption with a passion. Though, that never stopped him from trying to improve his fighting style in other ways. He continued to perfect and increase them to their highest levels and even managed to combine them into a harmonious fighting style. This would serve as a way to maximize their strongest traits and will decrease their individual weaknesses. It would also help if this new style failed; then, he would have three others to fall back on.
Shortly after another discussion, the two were released and went to their barracks, leaving the adults alone in the room.
"When did his magic start maturing?" Ichika asked.
"The day after, he fought the Dark Lord," Severus replied. "It's still hard to believe that his core is even maturing while he is so young. That and it will finish stabilizing in the coming weeks."
"It's great to see that some people don't take their magic for granted," Griselda remarked. "Hopefully, this will encourage the others of his generation to work just as hard. It would also be nice if the Hogwarts curriculum changed. Advance the students' educations by teaching them more advanced magic, bring in subjects that are actually worth learning, and remove all the useless ones like Divination and Muggle Studies."
"Unfortunately, that will not happen as long as Dumbledore remains the school's Headmaster and Fudge is in office," Severus sneered, as those two will never allow the school to advance its educational standards.

As the duo made it to their barracks, Harry plopped himself down on one of the couches near the fire "only a couple more days then we can leave."
"Relax," Miwa took a seat next to him "soon, we will be able to leave and hopefully enjoy what's left of our summer vacation. So are you content with your decision about the Duelist Guild?"
"You know I can't strain my magic any more than necessary, and if I do, then there's a good chance that I might lose it permanently…until this infernal contraption comes off my arm, then I'm stuck." Like him, Miwa had also been invited to become a Master-Class Duelist, but her examination will be in early November.
"Anyway, I have to find a way to deal with Fudge. Pompous little shit has a lot of nerve going after me." The egotistical fucker started running a smear campaign against him and Dumbledore. A complete joke and a waste of time and resources. The punchline was that he never told the media about Voldemort being back.
Liking the seriousness in his eyes, Miwa laughed. "Do you have a plan?" Really hoping that he did.
"Working on it," was all he said. "However, I have other things to deal with when I return to Britain."
A/N: Another Horcrux bites the dust and now Harry and the others are closer to getting rid of Voldemort. All they have to destroy the last one and take the bastard down. Though, that will be easier said than done as both obstacles will prove to be difficult. As for the stone what secrets will Harry discover and what connections will he find? Things are going to heat up. The teens have received their individual results, Daphne and Neville are being offered a chance to obtain mastery's in their respective fields.
Even though Harry doesn't want anything from the students he helped that will not stop them from giving him a gift. Fudge and his entourage need to watch out because they are about to lose a lot more than what they bargained for and then some.
Harry might be 'grounded' right now because his core is maturing but that doesn't mean that he's out of the fight yet and once it's done he will feel like a new man.
Next Chapter: Guess who's back?
