Chapter 6: New Regimen
"Izuku, allow me to break it down for you."
*Gabriel hits the cleanest griddy before Izuku's eyes*
"Wtf?"
Yo and welcome back to the story, sorry for the somewhat short chapter this time. This was done right off the end of finals, plus I felt some things should be saved for later. Don't worry next chapter will be far more interesting since we'll be covering Izuku's first day at U.A. What fun that will be.
Special thanks to Geo995, zenwatermelon, Blazing Torrent, and ProjectIceman for the angel names so far. Suggestions are still open for all.
Enjoy the chapter me boys and not boys.
"Good Izuku, a most glorious display. You may take a short rest." Gabriel shouted from atop his perch. The arena of the Cyber Grind began to shift back to its original state.
"Thank you, sir." Izuku flew up to his mentor, taking a seat at the edge of the platform. After a few calming breaths he took out his notebook and began writing in it.
"Your movement and coordination has certainly improved." The Archangel noted while deactivating the simulation. "I believe you might be ready for the next segment to your regimen."
"Next segment?" Izuku briefly turned to regard his mentor with a curious expression.
"Correct, as proficient you have become there is still much you must learn." Gabriel confirmed while standing next to his apprentice.
"Will I learn how to use my Light?" The greenette asked excitedly.
"Not yet, there are other areas we will work on first before moving to such an advanced stage." Gabriel answered plainly.
"Aww." The younger angel whined.
"Have patience Izuku, you will learn in time." The warrior chuckled while ruffling his student's green locks. "Tell me, how did your exam go yesterday?" Gabriel suddenly asked.
"Ah that, I think I did ok. I won't know till the end of next week if I got accepted or not." Izuku answered while looking up at his mentor.
"I know you will, you are my student." Gabriel swiftly dismissed the boy's self-doubt. "Tell me of it, you have been rather closed lipped about the details."
"Well, there was the written portion, which was pretty easy all things considered, I finished early. Then there was the practical portion." The teen began. "We had to earn 'villain' points by destroying these robots in this large fake city. And we only had ten minutes to do so." Izuku continued casually.
"And how did those machines compare to that of the ones within the Cyber Grind?" Gabriel inquired with a raised brow behind his helmet.
"Not really that difficult." Izuku sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "I uh kinda took out a quarter worth in about three minutes."
"Heh and you say they won't accept you." The Archangel chuckled with a shake of his head. "Still, I am proud of your efforts, your training has certainly paid off." Gabriel praised before asking. "What exactly did you do with the rest of your time?"
"I mostly just helped out the other examinees who I thought were in trouble." The greenette answered while shrugging.
"Quite noble of you, I can see why the Father was right in having you become one of us." Gabriel noted pridefully.
"Thank you, sir." Izuku's face reddened as he quickly glanced away in embarrassment.
"Hmm, what exactly are you drawing?" Deciding to be merciful with his teasing the older angel changed the subject.
"Huh–oh it's nothing, just a dumb little doodle." The teen shifted, allowing for his mentor to look over his shoulder.
"Our definitions of 'doodling' are quite different if that is the case." Gabriel observed the drawing with concealed intrigue. "Your diagrams are quite thorough, on par with the likes of Samael's."
"Who?" Izuku asked curiously.
"Heaven's resident Forgemaster, he makes most of the armor and weapons for the soldiers of Heaven." Gabriel explained while still scanning the page. "I believe he would have quite the time working on something like this."
"Ah–I don't know about that." Izuku rubbed the back of his head. He glanced down at the page with a conflicted expression. "It's just a stupid hero costume idea, I'm sure I can just get someone from the support course to make it."
"Absolutely not." The Archangel flatly denied.
"Huh? Why not?" The smaller angel turned to look at his mentor with a confused expression.
"You are a soldier of Heaven, Izuku. You will be given the proper armaments and while I'm sure your world has great creators; none hold a candle to the craftsmanship of Heaven." Gabriel told his pupil with finality, leaving no room for argument. "If it is armor you require then you will be given only the best."
"If you're sure Mr. Gabriel." Izuku replied back hesitantly.
"I am, my student. May I borrow your journal?" The warrior inquired politely.
"I–I…"
For a moment Izuku froze, his mind flashing back to Bakugo's 'attempt' at dissuading him from U.A. A small part of the teen wanted to be defensive, wanted to tell Gabriel no while hiding the notebook away. But a larger and more sensible part reminded him that his mentor was not like Bakugo. The man had given everything to Izuku and had only ever asked for him to push himself past his limits. It didn't take long for the more paranoid portion of his brain to be silenced in the face of such reasoning.
"Y–yeah, sure." The greenette handed over the journal with a slight tremble in his hand. "Just um can I have it back once you're done? I…that journal is personal to me."
"Of course, my pupil." Gabriel nodded firmly while taking the notebook. "I will not be needing it for long. At the latest you will have it back after two days."
"Alright, thank you sir." Izuku let out a small sigh of relief.
"No gratitude is necessary; I am merely ensuring you are given what you have earned." The Archangel dismissed with a wave. In a flash of light, the notebook disappeared, leaving the armored man to stare down at his student expectantly. "Break is over, back to training."
"Yes sir." The young teen saluted before dropping into the Cyber Grind once more.
*Moon Temple, Two Days Later*
"Huh?" Izuku let out a confused noise as he glanced around his surroundings.
The teen expected to find himself within the dull void of the Cyber Grind, yet his surprise grew when he found himself standing on the moon's surface once more. The temple that once looked decrepit now pulsated with some life. Partly thanks to Gabriel having Izuku clean up and somewhat repair the broken state of the building.
'Wow, I forgot how beautiful this place was.' Izuku thought in wonder as he made his way inside the sanctuary.
As the greenette traversed down the hallway he could feel a growing warmth beginning to envelope his being. The lingering traces of divinity that Izuku once felt burned with a much greater intensity. It was nowhere near as powerful as the sensation of warping or when Gabriel healed his injuries, but it felt more potent. The sensation was like that of tasting water in its prime form, without even the slightest of impurities.
Stepping under the archway into the nave, the feeling of warmness reached its all time peak. Izuku didn't understand why but he could feel a power coursing through his veins unlike he has ever felt before. Green eyes were drawn straight ahead to the sight of Gabriel standing at the altar with his hands clasped together in prayer. Not wanting to be rude, Izuku silently approached and took a seat on the wooden bench just left of the altar. For a moment the room remained silent, until the armored warrior suddenly broke from his stasis.
"For a long time, I thought this place was forsaken by the Father. Left as a reminder for our failures as soldiers of Heavens and guardians of humanity." The metallic voice of Gabriel echoed through the room. "Yet, here we stand…underneath the Father's Lights as though it were only yesterday that humanity prayed under this temple's roof."
Izuku remained silent but listened to his mentor's words with rapt attention.
"This sanctuary stands because of you, Izuku. It is through your actions, resolve, and kindness that this temple may one day house a congregation once more." The Archangel praised with clear proudness in his voice. His armor clinked lightly as he motioned for Izuku to stand before the altar. "Kneel my pupil." Gabriel commanded authoritatively.
Without a word the green haired teen followed the older man's instructions. He stood in front of the altar before dropping down onto one knee. The angel kept his arms draped over his knee as he waited for Gabriel to continue.
"It is these efforts that has earned you the right to ascend into the next stage of your training, but more than that…it has earned you my respect." Turning around the Archangel picked up a long rectangular object that was covered by a white and gold cloth.
Stepping down so that he was standing in front of Izuku, Gabriel held out the object. Carefully Izuku took the item from his mentor, a curious expression blooming across his freckled face. With a delicate touch, the green eyed angel removed the cloth and placed it at his side, revealing a plain wooden box. Removing the top, the confusion on the teen's face was quickly replaced by one of surprise.
Within the box were two katanas, the blades of each being sheathed in an ebony scabbard. The guard of each was made of an onyx colored iron. The handle and cord wrap color scheme was a mix between black and gold with the pommel being colored the latter of the two. Hesitantly, Izuku picked up one of the blades, partially unsheathing it to reveal the shining steel. Placing the sword back into its sheath, the greenette could see writing next to the hanging cord. Glancing over at the other sword, Izuku could see it also had an inscription.
'Judgment without mercy.'
'Mercy without judgment.'
These were the phrases written respectively on each scabbard in an almost glowing gold color.
"Ah, 'Judgment' and 'Mercy'...they were the first weapons I carried into battle. I still remember the day when Samael gave me them." Gabriel fondly stated while chuckling softly. "They have served me well, but I think they would be better in your hands."
"Mr. Gabriel I–I don't know what to say…" Izuku placed the sword back into the box, looking up at his mentor with misty eyes.
"Then do not say anything, my pupil. Simply accept my gift to you, I know you will use them for good." The Archangel plainly replied back.
"I–I will sir, thank you." The angel quickly rubbed his eyes to dispel any tears that threatened to fall.
"Good, because your new regimen begins today." Gabriel said while motioning for Izuku to rise. "From this day forward, I will be teaching you the way of bladed combat."
"Alright, what's first then?" Izuku stood up, holding a katana in each hand.
"Patience my pupil, this ceremony is not done just yet." A flash of golden light appeared in Gabriel's hands before a familiar notebook was offered. "I believe this is yours."
"Oh, thanks." Clumsily the teen moved the weapon in his right hand to his left. With both blades now in his left hand, Izuku quickly grabbed his journal before placing it inside of his backpack.
"Oh, and I believe this is yours too." Gabriel's voice caused Izuku to turn around. The katanas nearly fell out of his hand as he adopted a fish out of water look. "Samael sends his regards by the way, he thoroughly enjoyed crafting it."
*Midoriya Residence*
"Izuku! Izuku! It's here!" The frantic voice of Inko traveled through the home as she barged into her son's room. "The letter from U.A is here!" The green haired woman held up a sealed envelope.
"Huh, oh ya." Izuku lifted his head from his journal before answering.
Truthfully, the greenette may have somewhat forgotten about the whole heroics school letter to begin with. Despite only starting his new regimen with Gabriel just a few days ago, Izuku already felt it was significantly harder than anything else he's faced so far. His mentor was a relentless sparring partner, far greater than anyone Izuku has ever seen. The older angel's speed and power were daunting, it really showed Izuku just how much more powerful Gabriel was compared to him. Apparently the training was so intense that the teen forgot to be worried over whether he got accepted or not.
"Thanks mom. I'll let you know the results after I'm done reading it." The angel thanked the woman with a smile. He gingerly took the letter from her shaky, outstretched hand.
"Of course, sweetie, I'll be waiting in the living room." Quickly Inko made her way out of the teen's room before shutting the door.
Now by himself, Izuku decided not to waste any time and opened the seal to the envelope. He let out a small yelp of surprise when a bright light suddenly shot from the opening. The beam of colors swirled around before quickly forming the holographic image of All Might. The hero was dressed in a yellow suit and was wearing his trademark smile.
"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" The number one hero boisterously stated.
'Huh? Why is All Might giving the news? Is he–is he going to be teaching at U.A?' The green haired teen thought. Izuku didn't really know how to feel about such an idea, considering the last time the two met. Those conflicting thoughts were quickly filled away, the teen was not ready to process that just yet.
"You put on quite the show at the entrance exam, young Midoriya. Cleaning up your handiwork sure took a lot of time on our part!" The hologram shifted to show the piles of scrapped robots Izuku left behind. "Not only were you extremely efficient in dismantling those villains but you showed great leadership and teamwork!"
The scene shifted, showcasing the many instances of the teen assisting the other examinees in taking down the robots. The green eyed teen instantly recognized the pink skinned girl and glasses wearing boy. A small, red blush overcame Izuku's cheeks as his heroic deeds were being praised by the hero.
"With 45 villains points you would have comfortably earned your place in the heroics course. But you young Midoriya went above and beyond. You truly showed the markings of a real hero!" All Might beamed while a secondary scoreboard appeared beside him. The label 'rescue points' could be seen next to it.
"U.A is a hero school first and foremost, so it would be shameful if we did not take such actions into account." The hologram zoomed in to show that Izuku scored 20 rescue points from his many interventions. "Your villain score combined with your rescue score easily secured your place young Midoriya!" The number one hero held up his hands before continuing. "But I am not done yet, these rescue points were only given based on these interventions."
"Huh? What does that mean?" Izuku curiously uttered. Now watching the screen with rapt interest as to what All Might was referring to.
"Of course, those acts were heroic in nature but we–what? 'Get to the point'? I was doing that!" An awkward cough escaped the hero's mouth at the interruption. "Ahem, your actions to save the life of one Shiozaki Ibara did not go unnoticed by the faculty of U.A."
The screen shifted, replaying the angel's display of dismantling the zero pointer with inhuman speed. Izuku's eyes widened, stunned by the sheer power he apparently displayed during the exam.
'That can't be me.' Izuku thought in disbelief. He couldn't believe that he managed to destroy such a titan with such ferocity. His cheeks reddened significantly when the footage lingered on him bridal carrying Ibara through the sky.
"For such a courageous and selfless act, you would have earned quite a large sum of rescue points, but we are not done yet young Midoriya." All Might beamed before he was replaced by footage of Ibara standing before Present Mic.
"Pardon me, is this the teacher's office?" The vine haired girl asked as she stepped into the room.
"What's Shiozaki doing there?" Izuku muttered to himself.
"That it is little listener, whatcha need?" The radio host gave a smile and a lazy wave.
"The one named Midoriya Izuku, I wish to give him a portion of my points." Ibara softly stated.
"Wh–what?! Why would she do that?" Green eyes widened in surprise.
"Ay, while that's pretty rad of you, care to tell me why?' The blonde sat up straight looking at the girl curiously.
"He saved me…risked his own wellbeing to ensure my safety." Ibara started with a gentle tone. "He could have fled, but he chose to stay behind…if that is not the mark of hero I do not know what is."
Too stunned to speak, Izuku merely watched the interaction between the two with a shocked expression. Never did he think that his actions would lead to such an outcome, nor did he ever think it would be praised by so many. The greenette only did what he thought was right at the time, the same thing he's always done ever since he was a kid. It was strange being given this much appreciation over something Izuku would consider to be expected.
Strange, but it still felt nice.
"Well, unfortunately I can't do that little listener. But don't you worry, I think Midoriya will make it just fine.' Present Mic answered before giving a not so subtle wink.
"You see young Midoriya, your actions inspired another to also go out and commit an act of good." All Might reappeared, showing the score for rescue points jumped significantly. "As such young Shiozaki received 15 bonus rescue points for her efforts and you…for your actions young Midoriya you received a total of 80 rescue points!"
This time a leaderboard showing the ranking of all students across the entrance exam were shown. Izuku could see that Ibara had made it into the top ten at 8th place and Bakugo unsurprisingly in the top three. However, what the greenette did not expect was to see his name next to the number one.
"With a total of 125 points across villain and rescue scores, you have secured your spot as the number one examinee of the entrance exam!" All Might clapped while giving a hearty laugh. "Congratulations young Midoriya and welcome to your hero academia!"
With that the light disappeared, ending the video and leaving Izuku to himself once more. Said teen was still currently trying to process everything he just witnessed. He couldn't believe it, he, quirkless, useless deku was the number one applicant. He was the one who saved Ibara, the one who destroyed the zero pointer, all of it was him and him alone. For a time, the angel simply sat there allowing the mess of thoughts to swirl in his head.
After a few moments a single thought broke through, taking over every crevice of Izuku's thoughts.
'I got in…' A large, wide grin stretched across his face as he let out a few chuckles.
"I got in…I got in–I got in!" Excitedly, Izuku leapt from his chair and raced into the living room.
"Eep!" Inko let out a yelp as her son suddenly lunged toward her, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"I got in!" The teen shouted once more.
"Oh Izuku, I'm so proud of you!" Inko returned the hug. Happy tears threatening to spill from her large green eyes.
That night the two Midoiryas celebrated, becoming closer than ever before.
*Next Day*
The news of his acceptance spurred Izuku's energetic attitude all throughout the day. Not a single thing was able to bring down the greenette's joyful mood. Not the taunts from his peers, the backhanded remarks from his teachers, or everyone fawning over Bakugo's acceptance. All of it was blissfully ignored in favor of the news of his acceptance.
As he traveled to the park to be summoned once more, an ever present grin remained on his face. Even though he knew that he was likely going to be put through the ringer today, Izuku couldn't help but keep smiling. The golden aura surrounded him before taking him from his world and into the Cyber Grind. Keeping his energetic grin, Izuku tossed his bag to the side before beginning to prepare for today's lesson.
"You are rather…energetic today." A note of amusement could be detected as the angel spoke. Gabriel stood off to the side, watching his student don his own armor and weapons.
"Huh? Oh ya, my letter came in today. I got accepted into the heroics course." Izuku strapped the katanas to his left hip as he replied. "Apparently I ranked first amongst all the other examinees."
"To be expected really, I did train you after all." Gabriel boasted with his armored chest pushed out. "Come, since you are so full of energy then we will put it to good use." The angel soldier waved for the teen to follow him.
Together the two divine beings spread their wings and floated down onto the gray platform below. Though unlike other times the arena did not shift save for edges forming into long walls. Both angels landed on the ground with no more than a few feet between the two.
Like predators studying their prey, mentor and student watched the movement of the other with silent calculation. Their helmets obscured whatever expression or facial features from view, leaving only body movement as the only form of nonverbal communication. Behind Izuku's helmet his green eyes carefully regarded Gabriel's crossed armed, almost relaxed, pose.
'He's probably trying to bait me for an easy attack.' Izuku concluded while keeping his gaze trained on his mentor.
Quickly forming a plan, the greenette unsheathed 'Mercy' with his right hand, the blade gleaming threateningly. Without a word Izuku dashed forward, his wings flapping behind him to increase his speed. Drawing his arm back the teen made for a overhead arc once he was within range. Expectedly the Archangel easily dodged to the side, his arms still crossed lazily.
'Got ya!' Swiftly the heaven forged katana was spun into a reverse grip with Izuku bringing his left hand onto the pommel.
Forcefully the young angel made for a stab aimed at Gabriel's chest. The strike would have hit, if not for Gabriel deflecting the blade with his armored gauntlet. Harmlessly the attack was thrown to the side, but Izuku remained on balance.
"A good reaction, but you must be faster." The warrior commented casually. With ease the man dodged the several more slashes attempting to maim him. "You're telegraphing your strikes. Be quick and be decisive."
Moving to the side to avoid another horizontal slash, Gabriel gave Izuku a quick jab to his abdomen. A low grunt of pain escaped the teen's throat as the force sent him back several feet. Gabriel was undoubtedly holding back, but that didn't mean the punch didn't take the breath out of Izuku's lungs.
Shrugging off the pain, the greenette reached down with his left hand to pull 'Judgment' from its scabbard in a reverse grip. Flourishing the swords so that they were held in a standard grip, Izuku surged forward once more. Blue wings flapped powerfully, sending their owner into the air and towards his opponent.
Izuku began his assault with a double over head arc, forcing Gabriel to retreat backwards slightly. However, Izuku continued with the momentum, springing off the floor into a diagonal slash with 'Mercy'. When his mentor dodged that the green haired teen followed up with spinning slash in the same direction using his other blade.
"Good, keep up the pressure. Even the most powerful of defenses can be broken eventually." The Archangel reminded. His lazy posture was now gone as he expertly weaved through his student's strikes.
Following his mentor's advice, Izuku continued his onslaught. Slashes, thrusts, and jabs were all mixed together in a seemingly never ending combo. Yet, despite the middle schooler's efforts the results clearly showed how inexperienced he was. The Archangel, more often than not, effortlessly avoided the blows. The only real accomplishment Izuku made was forcing the other armored man to use his gauntlets to block an incoming strike. Even then the greenette could see Gabriel clearly could have dealt a counterattack of his own but chose not to.
"You form is unfocused, allow me to show you how to properly break one's defenses." The older angel let out a mirthful chuckle.
Gabriel's wings sprouted from his back, sending him back a few feet away from his student. His right hand began to glow with a light gold until the gleam disappeared. In its place was a shining, golden broadsword, made of pure Light.
The sudden appearance of the ethereal weapon caused Izuku to pause in his assault for a moment. He could feel the power radiating from the blade, a weapon made of divine energy from a hardened warrior. It was almost surreal in a way, how such a beautiful and pure power could be shaped into such a deadly object.
However, Izuku did not remain transfixed for long as his mentor suddenly appeared before his eyes. The blade of Light was swung in a horizontal arc, barely blocked in time with both 'Mercy' and Judgment'. Yet the obstruction did not matter as the force alone sent the teen skidding across the ground.
"Distracted." Gabriel said plainly, already closing the distance once more.
Izuku barely had enough time to dodge the overhead slash aimed at him. Though he was not fast enough to avoid the kick sent to his side. With a pained grunt, the young angel tried to retaliate with an upward strike of his own. However, Gabriel easily knocked the blade to the side with his own. The opening was seized immediately, with the Archangel grabbing Izuku's armored collar and throwing him to the ground.
"Off balance." The warrior bluntly commented.
With an annoyed growl the teen shot up from the floor, katanas reared back and ready to strike. The greenette resumed his previous onslaught though this time with a new ferocity to it. His attacks were faster, far less telegraphed, and laser accurate. No movement was wasted, no action was second guessed, Izuku was fully confident in his abilities.
Gabriel silently noted the change, allowing himself to be put on the defensive in order to better understand his pupil's abilities. The Archangel was rather impressed with the unorthodox moves often incorporated into his student's style. The constant shifting of grip style would certainly trip up a lot of recruits back at the academy. If not for his many, many decades of experience Gabriel might have actually been forced to try a little bit.
'Let's see if you're ready for this one, Izuku.' Gabriel thought while shooting into the sky to avoid a twin diagonal slash. "Parry!" The Archangel shouted as he reared his arm back before throwing the ethereal broadsword with a substantial amount of force.
A look of pure concentration was hidden by his helmet. The blade traveled toward Izuku, who held his katanas at the ready for when the projectile hit. Once the makeshift missile was no more than a few inches, the greenette swung.
Only to misjudge the distance and swing too early.
"Gah!" The young angel let out a shout as the weapon of Light struck his chest. The force of which caused him to drop his own weapons and be thrown back into a wall. "Ugh…" Sliding down the wall, Izuku slumped over as a new pain overtook his chest.
"You didn't parry." Gabriel noted offhandedly, floating down to the ground.
"Yep…just a little bit off." Izuku groaned while rising to his feet despite his body's protest.
"Your timing was a mark improvement compared to…previous attempts." Gabriel continued breezily.
"Yeah, I'll get it eventually." The greenette said, picking up his blades from the ground. "Just need to work on my timing."
"Your optimistic attitude shall serve you well in that regard. Now…" A bright flash of light and another sword appeared in Gabriel's hand. "Again."
*U.A, Class 1-A*
Aizawa Shota let out a small yawn as he continued to go over the files of his upcoming class. The man had done extensive research into each student, learning everything he could about them. School records, social media, anything that Aizawa could get his hands on, legally, he did. And already he could feel the biggest migraine of his entire teaching career coming on, before classes had even started.
"So many problem children." The erasure hero muttered while taking a sip of his juice box.
Each of the teens in 1-A had their own share of problems, some more detrimental than others but problems all the same. Whether it be Ashido's laidback attitude or Tenya's stickler personality for the rules. Everyone Aizawa has come across has some sort of factor holding them back from becoming a better hero.
Well, all except for one.
"And one not so problem child." Dry eyes narrowed slightly as they came across one particular file.
Truthfully, Aizawa was a bit skeptical when reading Midoriya's file. There was not a single blemish on the boy's record. Not even so much as a detention could be found, even with all the digging Eraserhead did. Naturally, the hero assumed that a expungement of some kind occurred, no one's record was that squeaky clean. Yet, the more Aizawa learned about Izuku the more he began to realize maybe he was the exception.
The dried eyed man remembered how selflessly the green haired teen acted during the practical exams. Ensuring the safety of others while not interfering with their own attempts was not something Aizawa saw often. Maybe from All Might or his newly appointed protege, but even then the number one hero has shown his cracks before.
"So, then the question is, what is holding you back, Midoriya?" Aizawa hummed thoughtfully.
The man had a lesson plan for everyone else that was soon to be in his class. Personal lessons that would hopefully change his students for the better so that they may reach their fullest potential. But how was he expected to do that with someone who had no obvious flaws? What could Aizawa possibly teach to someone who has already reached the best version of themselves? Midoriya was truly the mark of a ideal hero, courageous, kind, and willing to lay down his own life to save another.
"Ideal hero huh?…yeah, I got it now." The erasure hero jotted down some notes onto the file before tucking it away and moving onto the next student.
…
Aizwas' File
Name: Midoriya Izuku
Age: 15
Height: 6'2
Weight: 158 lbs
Quirk: "Angel"; the user gains a pair of blue (transparent?) wings and halo allowing for flight. The user's body apparently has been altered to withstand flying at high speeds with any signs of hindrance from wind or vertigo. The user's body also appears highly resistant (see entrance exam footage).
Notes: Midoriya is a rare case of a caricature come to life. It is as if society's view of what makes a great hero was all smashed together into one person. He is kind, noble, and willing to lay down his life in order to save another. Midoriya's attitude and actions during the entrance exam paint a clear picture of the type of person he is. Or more specifically who he is trying to be. The barrier that holds him back must be approached delicately and with tact. It will take time, but I believe I can turn him into the great hero he can be.

"Heaven engineering is the best in the world!"
"Mr. Gabriel is that a JoJo reference?!"
Got a lot of setup for stuff that'll come in later chapters, Heaven's Forgemaster, Izuku's training, Aizawa's plan for the green bean, and more. I took the liberty of being intentionally vague regarding Izuku's armor since I want it to be as much of surprise to you guys as it is class 1-A. Don't worry though you won't have to wait long ;). Also gave you guys a sneak peak in showing just how much more powerful Gabriel is compared to Izuku. Hope some of that gets you guys excited because I know I am to write it all down.
And yes the "parry" line is a reference to dbza's "dodge".
Next Chapter: First Day
