Age 778, Overwritten Reality

Mount Paozu was as calm as it always had been. The mountains stayed sturdy, the air stayed clean and fresh, and the water was always running cool, refreshing, and littered with fish. Son Goku stood in perfect place, meditating quietly and serenely. He could hear everything, from Bulma and Chi-Chi having a casual chat, to Gohan and Videl discussing plans for their summer wedding, to Goten and Trunks fighting over who caught the bigger fish.

He then heard 2 boots land on the ground, and opened his eyes, smirking.

"Took ya long enough. I was beginning to think you weren't coming."

"Hmph. And miss out on a chance to knock you a new one? Don't make me laugh."

Goku then turned around and saw the saiyan prince Vegeta, looking as cocky as ever. Goku then took a second to look at the kids, which Vegeta picked up on.

"What is it, Kakarot?"

"Just taking it all in. we sure have come a long way, huh Vegeta?"

Vegeta couldn't help but agree. In his former life as a saiyan elite, all he had ever known was death and destruction. He reveled in it gleefully, massacring entire species under the orders of Frieza, though he probably would have done it regardless. But now, he had something truly worth protecting: his family. And he had Goku to thank for all of it. Said low class warrior then said,

"Hard to believe it's been 4 years since the last big threat. Ever since the fights with Buu and Hirudegarn, things have been so peaceful. I mean, there was that incident with your brother a few years ago, but that didn't really amount to much. I kinda miss the chaos of the old days."

"Well you do have a point. There hasn't been much of anything to challenge us lately. I'd even go as far as to say it's been rather boring."

"Yeah, but I've got a feeling that something's gonna happen real soon. Not a threat per say, but just something to keep us on our toes."

While Rikku would ultimately be referring to Beerus when she said this, Goku was referring to the reincarnation of Majin Buu that he would eventually meet 6 years after this moment. However, Vegeta didn't know that.

"Oh really? Well if that's the case, I'm taking the first shot at it."

"Alright. But until then, how about a spar, for old times sake?"

"Hmph. it would be my honor."

The two full blooded saiyans then floated in front of a large tree that Piccolo had been quietly standing under, and jumped back to create distance. Their sons could immediately tell what was about to happen, so Gohan yelled to the others,

"Hey guys, I think we need to get out of here! Things are about to get crazy!"

The half saiyans all grabbed the women and flew them away, and Piccolo also flew off, leaving Goku and Vegeta to have their spar. The two full blooded saiyans assumed the same fighting stances they had in their original battle, and stared each other down, smirking. Light pink petals began to fall from the trees, illuminating their battle.

After a minute, Goku and Vegeta burst into Super Saiyan, then charging at each other with a powerful yell. Their fists collided, and enormous shockwaves were sent across the area.

Goku's eyes shot open as he awakened. It was that damn dream again. From what he and (mostly) the Zamasu in his brain could tell, the events in his dream happened simultaneously with the final moments of Rikku's story that Goku had been told. It had been such an insignificant event that Goku had almost forgotten about it until now.

The saiyan then went outside to get some fresh air. He and the future Zamasu were living in a small cabin near Grandpa Gohan's home, and Goku wondered if they were in the exact same area where Rikku and Vegeta's house stood. Questions for later. The saiyan then began shadowboxing, imagining an unknown opponent.

However, as he was about to land the finishing blow on the sparring dummy, he sensed something. They were here.

"Is it too late to say I told you so?"

The Zamasu in his head replied in an annoyed tone.

"Don't sass me, mortal. Just head there and kill Rikku and the others."

Goku nodded, smirking before flying off.

Rikku and Vegeta were led across the resistance base. It was poorly lit by a few barrels of oil, and all around them were humans in what looked like the clothing of Earth's military, most of them wounded. Sitting with them was a woman with short black hair and what looked like Rikku's gi, except the top orange overshirt was missing. Trunks was shocked to see her.

"Pan?"

Rikku and Vegeta's eyes widened when they heard Trunks say that. Pan turned around to face them, and was equally surprised when she not only saw an alive Trunks, but two people who she initially didn't recognize. However, when she looked a bit longer, she recognized the woman. It was a face she had only seen in old photographs and an old recording Trunks had shown her a few times, as the person in both the photos and video had died long before Pan was born.

Standing in front of her was that person. Her paternal grandmother, Rikku Son. And the other new arrival was Trunks and Goten's father, Vegeta. Before Pan could truly take this in, Trunks ran up to her and clasped her hands tightly.

"So you're alright!"

"I could say the same about you!"

"I was so worried!"

"Again, I could say the same about you."

Tears began to well in the older future warrior's eyes as he grasped Pan's hands tighter.

"I…I thought I lost you Pan…after we both lost…."

Pan looked down in sadness for a moment, remembering the brutal death of her uncle Goten. But then she looked back up and ruffled Trunks's hair.

"Come on, Trunks. Now's no time to wallow in self pity. Now that you brought Rikku and Vegeta here, we actually have a chance. But, I thought you said that Rikku was dead and couldn't be brought back by any dragon."

"She was, but a Supreme Kai gave his own life to revive her during their version of Babidi's invasion."

"I see."

Pan then walked up to Rikku and shook her hand.

"I've heard so much about you from Trunks and Bulma. It's an honor to meet you."

"Same here. Though I wish I could've gotten to meet this time's Goten too…"

"Yes. We all miss him greatly. Even if it's only been a few hours for us."

Trunks then decided to pipe into the conversation.

"So this is the new base?"

Before Pan could respond, the saiyans all suddenly sensed a massive energy approaching the rebel base. Before they could warn anyone, Goku came flying in from the ceiling, violently landing and creating a small crater from the impact. The ordinary humans all cowered in fear, while the saiyans shot him a hateful glare.

Goku smirked and said,

"I knew you 3 would make it back here. Now fight me."

Before Rikku could step up to fight Goku, Vegeta did so, arms crossed.

"I know what you did to Goten, and this time, I'll be the one to make you pay."

"Is that so? Well, I could use a warmup. Let's head outside. I don't think you would want these people to get hurt, would ya?"

Vegeta gritted his teeth, and followed Goku as he burst out of the resistance base, the other saiyans trailing behind them. When the two saiyans landed, they got into fighting stances, and Vegeta then closed his eyes. A strange yellow aura appeared around him, before a spiral of flames burst from his feet and traveled up his entire body, his hair then turning red.

"You're already familiar with this form from Karat's usage of it. This is Super Saiyan God. However, unlike her, I won't be holding back."

"Really? Well then, I suppose I should go to the next stage too."

Goku got into a power up stance and began yelling, building toppling to the ground as he roared. The displaced saiyan's hair turned gold as it had with the other super saiyan transformations, but it began to grow out. Vegeta, RIkku and Trunks immediately recognized what this was, and Trunks was terrified.

"He-He was holding back against us this much?"

The multiple bangs lining Goku's face were replaced with one, and his eyebrows vanished. Once the saiyan's hair finally stopped growing as it reached his back, he let out a final shout as he fully burst into Super Saiyan 3. Vegeta was unimpressed.

"If this is your full power, then this fight will be over quickly."

"Hmph. don't get cocky. It takes more than strength to win a fight."

'We'll see about that!"

Vegeta then powered up, and Goku charged at him, yelling.
