The sunlight streamed into the common room early one quiet and sunny afternoon. Raven sat in her usual lotus position meditating in front of the windows while Starfire quietly stretched beside her.
The two young women had begun this routine a while ago and so far, it seemed to be working. Ever since the puppet king had accidentally switched their powers years ago the two women of the tower had been looking for ways to spend time together, to get to know each other more in a way that they could both enjoy. At first, it was strange and awkward, but as the years passed they became far more in sync with each other than anyone would have thought possible.
When they first began this journey together, they tried to do things they both mutually enjoyed. As it turned out they did not have any mutual interests as far as enjoyable activities. So, they tried a different approach. Once a week they set a day aside and took turns planning activities for the day. Raven would take Starfire to her favorite bookstore. Then Starfire would take Raven to the mall.
They would even plan things to do at the Tower on occasion. Starfire would pick out a romantic movie for them to watch or plan "the makeover" for a rainy afternoon. Raven would teach Starfire how to play chess or have them meditate together. One time Starfire had wanted to try and bake for some reason. Things like cookies, cupcakes, etc. The guys had walked into what Beast Boy, sorry, Changeling had described to be a pink frosting and flour disaster zone. After that, both girls had been banned from the kitchen unless properly supervised by one of the boys. Period. The declaration hadn't bothered Raven, she usually didn't cook. As long as she still got her tea, she was fine. Starfire however had pouted and whined, but Cyborg had remained firm.
Raven and Starfire had been doing their routine for so long that they required very little communication to organize it. Now they would just quietly settle in to watch one of Starfire's movies while they painted their nails or braided each other's hair. Or, like today, Raven would meditate, and Starfire would simply begin doing some peaceful and relaxing yoga stretches next to her quietly. The girls' routine confused the guys to no end, but they didn't question it. All they knew was if they interrupted then they had better have a good excuse. They also knew that their presence was better left nonexistent when the girls were doing their thing.
Raven opened one eye to peak at the alien powerhouse next to her. Over the years the five Titans, no longer teens, had each grown and changed.
Cyborg of course hadn't changed much physically. He had new upgrades and was older, but very little was drastically different with him.
Robin, however, had changed a lot. When he had turned 18 three years ago, he had made the switch to Nightwing. Along with the switch, he had grown and now stood 6' tall. His muscles had been built up and toned, but he wasn't a bodybuilder or anything. He had stopped spiking his hair and now just settled for combing it when needed. He had let it grow out a little, but not so much that was noticeable to anyone aside from his team. He had also been working on becoming more laid back, with the help of his gorgeous girlfriend.
Starfire had grown another inch or two but had stopped growing when she had hit 5'11, much to the joy of her boyfriend. Her hair was longer, flowing to her hips now and her face had become more angular. She had filled out a little more in certain areas but was still considered small and skinny. Starfire had also changed her uniform when she had turned 18. She had felt as though she needed a change, and while the media had said that "the young, impressionable and naïve girl" had been "influenced" by her boyfriend, Raven knew Starfire's reasons were her own. Starfire's uniform was the same purple color but was now a dress. It was form-fitting and easy to move in. The skirt was shorter than what most people would consider "modest" but it covered everything it was supposed to so no one said a word. She had forgone the silver neck brace thing and had raised the collar of the dress to cover her neck. The collar had a small silt down the middle of it. The dress was sleeveless, allowing her silver armbands and gloves that she had chosen to keep to show. She had also opted for shorter boots that only came up to her knees and had chosen to get rid of the platforms. All in all, she looked older and wiser and more beautiful than ever.
Raven shifted her gaze from her teammate to her own reflection in the window. She had chosen to grow out her purple hair wanting some sort of change as well. Other than that, nothing with her had changed that much. She hadn't grown an inch but had filled out in certain areas of her own giving her an hourglass figure that she had caught several creeps drooling over. More than once. She shuddered at the thought. Her face had also grown more angular as well and what little muscle she did have had become more toned. The only other big change with her was the fact that she had far better control over her powers now, allowing her to show more emotion than when she had been younger.
What had surprised everyone though was how much the green changeling had changed. When he had turned 18, he had wanted to signify his adulthood with a persona change as well. So, he had ditched the purple and black suit and title of Beast Boy and, with some help from Nightwing, created a new white and red suit and come up with the new name of Changeling. Along with the change came several physical changes as well. He had shot up like a weed and now stood at a towering 6'2 and proudly held the title of second tallest in the tower. Nightwing of course had had several things to say on the subject and Starfire had reported catching him researching ways to make oneself taller on multiple occasions. Changeling had also begun to work out more, though Raven had no idea why. All she did know was that the increase of gym time had paid off. The changeling had toned what muscle he had already had and built even more. He was still lean and was by no means buff, not even as much as Nightwing much to Nightwing's joy. But he still had more muscle than he had as a teenager. Changeling also looked slightly older, though he still acted like a 5-year-old. Raven had to admit, even though he still told horrible jokes and annoyed her to no end Changeling was more mature and was serious more often. He took things seriously and had learned, for the most part, when the appropriate moment for jokes was.
What also surprised everyone was, the first full year of living together when they were celebrating Changeling's birthday, many years ago, they had discovered that Changeling was a full year older than Nightwing. This of course had led to cheering on the green teen's part and grumbling on their leader's part. For a full week.
The doors to the common room swished open, bringing Raven out of her thought process.
'Speak of the devil….' Raven thought to herself as she saw his reflection in the window.
The green man walked into the room and made his way to the kitchen. He was wearing a pair of basketball shorts and tennis shoes and nothing else. He was covered in sweat having just completed his workout for the day which Raven caught herself blushing at once she noticed. He was wearing his earbuds and nodding his head and walking to the beat of his music.
Gar walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water, opening it and taking a swig before noticing the two young women at the window. Seeing him take notice of them, Raven quickly closed her eyes, heart pounding.
She had come to terms with the fact that, for some Azar forsaken reason, she was attracted to Changeling. She had even admitted the fact that she liked him, just a little bit, as more than friends, though she would never admit that out loud to anyone. Well, anyone besides Starfire who knew how to keep a secret.
Raven could feel the surprise rolling off of the green man in the kitchen behind her. She also felt when he decided to quietly back out of the room since they hadn't noticed him yet. That he knew of. He had almost made it to the doors when they once again swished open. Raven knew that someone else had come in because she could hear. Gar however still had his earbuds in and music blaring, so he didn't hear the doors open.
Raven figured this out when seconds later her and Starfire's peaceful and quiet afternoon was shattered by a very un-manly shriek of surprise.
Starfire's head popped up from her stretch looking over at the situation by the door curiously. Raven simply sighed as she put her feet down and turned to see who had scared the changeling out of his wits.
Nightwing stood in the doorway frowning down at the green man who was now on the floor, arms and legs in the air ready to defend himself from the unknown threat.
"Dude! Don't scare me like that!" He said loudly.
Nightwing rolled his eyes and bent over and pulled out one of Gar's earbuds.
"Dude, don't have your music turned up so loud!" Nightwing said at a raised volume.
Gar made a face but got up from the floor. He brushed himself off then looked at Nightwing.
"Dude, we can't be in here! The girls are doing their thing!" Gar whispered to Nightwing whose frown deepened at Gar.
"The girls "thing" has officially been interrupted." Raven drawled.
Gar looked at her sheepishly as his ears dropped. Nightwing glared at the young man next to him then look apologetically at the two women.
"Sorry girls, but I need the computer for a little bit. You'll have to move your thing or pause until I'm finished." He said gently.
Starfire stood up straight and smiled sweetly at him.
"It is alright Richard. We do not mind taking a break." She replied as Raven nodded in agreement. Raven moved toward the kitchen to get a drink while Starfire went and gave Nightwing a peck on the cheek.
"What it is you need the computer for anyway?" Raven asked curiously.
Nightwing shifted and rubbed the back of his neck.
"A video call. With my father."
Sorry, this one is so short, I'll try to make the rest of the chapters a least a little longer. Thanks for reading!
