Matters Of The Heart
Chapter 1
Lucas and Nathan Scott grew up to hate each other all because of their father. Who hated his own brother Keith for reasons no one really knew.
But for Lucas and Nathan the ongoing family turmoil spilled over into various aspects of life as they grew up.
Once they entered high school and started their junior year. Then senior year. It was clear a last time was all they would ever share.
At least that was the plan. Until Nathan's annual end of the year celebration took place.
They had graduated high school and were off to start new lives.
Nathan was destined for Duke university and Lucas hadn't figured out where he would go or what he would do.
His mom leaving him his childhood home.
As she left town needing to let go of of what haunted her here.
There was no guest list so Lucas had snuck in without being noticed.
"You are aware we aren't 12 anymore." A voice said.
"Since when does Brooke Davis say no to dare?" Nathan replied.
"You're the worst." Brooke said.
"And you love it." Nathan replied.
Lucas was doing his best to avoid people blend in but he couldn't avoid what was right in front of him.
What he was picking up on between them.
"What the hell are you doing at my beach house?" Nathan asked.
"What everyone else is doing here. There are no invitations."
"I wanted to see what everyone else was talking about."
"I never got to enjoy the free ride of growing up the chosen Scott." Lucas replied.
"I know you're jealous and full of envy. Its not my fault. My dad wouldn't settle for cafe scraps." Nathan proclaimed.
Brooke looked from one to the other.
"I'm waving the white flag." Brooke said. Feeling uncomfortable.
"You're Nate's brother. I've heard about you." Brooke said.
"Brooke Davis. You're well known though the school and the town really." Lucas replied.
