It was going to be the first holiday the Walton family would all be gathered in a long time, though it wouldn't be a straightforward week. With John Boy trying to convince his new girlfriend to marry him, Jason tiring of touring and Elizabeth and Erin's relationship struggles.

Olivia loved receiving letters from John Boy. It was like getting her own private novel, there was no question that her son was a marvellous writer. The one she'd just finished was even more special; as he confirmed that he was coming home for Thanksgiving. Not just coming home but bringing Janet. Who in the last three or four months had been mentioned in practically every phone call and letter.

Olivia put the letter aside with a smile. She would have all seven children with her for one of the most special days of the year. It had been a while since they had all celebrated a holiday together. At Easter Mary Ellen and Jonesy had chosen to spent it with his family; introducing them to Katie and Clay and Jason was in Nashville. Last Christmas Erin and Paul had spent the holiday with his father in Florida. John Boy hadn't been able to make last Thanksgiving due to a book deadline.
