Volume 1: Chapter 0 Mega Man
Welcome to the city of Atlas, one of the most advanced cities in Remnant, and also known for having the strongest military forces on Remnant. The city itself is not that special, sure it floats using an unknown power source. But it is just like any other city at night. Normal and quiet, well except for the floating capsule with a skull on the front being chased by a little blue robot.
A little blue robot, lets take a closer look shall we?
"Stop right there Wily!" Shouted the blue robot at the person he was chasing. While at the same time the blue robot was charging up his arm cannon, while still chasing after machine and trying to dodge several missiles that were fired at him. Which then crashed into the ground and caused destruction to some of the roads, with the explosions to form holes in the roads.
"You're going to have to catch me first Mega Man!" Shouted Dr. Wily, from the cockpit of the machine as he fired another barrage of missiles at the blue robot. Mega Man used his charged shot to take out a few of the missiles, only for some of the missiles that missed to crash into some of the nearby buildings.
"How many missiles do you even have in there!" Yelled Mega Man.
"Wouldn't you like to now." Replied Wily. "Also you might want to turn around to see the destruction caused by our fighting."
Mega Man turned around and saw the destruction that was caused by the explosions to the nearby buildings to see if there were any people injured from the explosions. But then heard that Wily's machine was beginning to fly away from him into a nearby tunnel.
He ran after his enemy, and when he got into the tunnel Wily's machine turned around and began to fly backwards. All the while the machine fired it's fists at him, to avoid the attack Mega Man used his slide to go underneath the fists that were launched at him, and then launched a charged shot at the machine which was then blocked by one of the fists coming back to Wily like a boomerang.
Wily's machine then took a turn to the left in the tunnel, with Mega Man following after him which led the two to end up in a place with several warehouses that contained storage containers with logo's of the Schnee Dust Company on the side of them.
But Mega Man didn't have time to take in where Wily had lead the two, as he had to try and avoid the missiles that were shot at him from the machine which he dodged. Only for the missiles to hit the containers, causing the containers to explode causing a fire to start up in the area. Which began to spread to the other warehouses, and began to activate the dust stored in the containers. Causing explosions filled with ice, stone, air, fire, light and gravity to fill the area.
Due to the explosion Wily got blinded for a little while, allowing him to fire another charged shot at Wily's machine. Which did some damage to the machine and caused the glass on the machine to break. Wily was able to regain his sight, and fired another barrage of missiles at him.
Mega Man dodged the missiles and fired his fully charged shot at the machine. The charged shot hit the machine and caused smoke to start coming from it. The machine came to a stop, allowing for Mega Man to catch up with it while around him several warehouses were burning down.
"Give it up Wily, you've got nowhere else left to turn to!" Shouted Mega Man as he began to charge up another charge shot. "Let the hostage go, and turn yourself in. Last warning!"
A bit of silence happened afterwards, but then Wily opened the glass of his cockpit to come face to face with his nemesis. Who then spoke "I could do that, but you see a Schnee can give me so many opportunities as a hostage."
"Release the hostage Wily! I have your machine on its last bit of energy!" Shouted Mega Man as he continued to charge his Mega Buster, while keeping his eyes on Wily.
"If you insist." Said Dr. Wily coldly as he pressed a button and shot a capsule into the distance. "Think you can stop me and save the hostage in time, Mega Man?"
Mega Man thought for a moment and was about to go after the capsule when he got a call "Brother can you hear me?"
"Proto, I can hear you. Where are you?" Asked Mega Man.
"I was able to catch the capsule before it hit the ground and I saved the hostage. Go after Wily." Instructed Proto Man as he disconnected from the connection.
Realizing that he could now focus on Dr. Wily, Mega Man fired his charged shot at the machine. He managed to land a hit and it caused the machine to explode, blinding Mega Man. After he had regained his sight he saw that all that was left of the Machine was some rubble and Dr. Wily's head bouncing around on a spring.
"Dammit a dummy." Thought Mega Man to himself. "But where is the real one?"
It was then that several cars from the Atlas fire department and cars from the Atlas Police department arrived at the scene and began to process the destruction. Seeing this Mega Man thought to himself "Better teleport back to the lab."
Mega Man then turned into a beam of energy and teleported into the lab that he had called his home for so many years. However when he arrived there a loud alarm was turned on. Mega Man quickly rushed over to the main computer and found his creator, or even his father in the way that he had began to see him, Dr. Light looking at a rapport of a break-in.
"Doctor what is going on here?" Asked Mega Man.
Dr. Light turned around to face Mega Man and said "While you were dealing with the hostage situation, the real Wily broke into the robot museum in Mantle. I don't know what is going on there, and he hasn't left yet."
"Then I'm going there." Said Mega Man in full confidence. "Doctor please teleport me there."
Doctor Light hesitated after the command, Mega Man seeing to conflicted look in his father's eyes asked "What's wrong, why aren't you sending me to the robot museum?"
"I'm not sure if sending you would be for the best. You just finished fighting one of Wily's most powerful machines and you got hit a few times in the process." Dr Light began, he then paused walked to his workbench to grab his tools and continued "How about sending Proto Man instead and have me repair the damages. So you can be ready when Wily tries something."
Mega Man walked over to the computer and typed in the coordinates himself. He then turned to Dr Light and said "I'm sorry, but I have to do this. I can't just stay on the sidelines and let him get away." Mega Man pressed the send button, turned to Dr. Light and said "I'm sorry." Before being turned into energy and teleporting away.
After a few seconds he reappeared near the front entrance of the Robot Museum in Mantle. He walked inside, and immediately noticed that all the display cases of the previously beaten robot masters were completely empty. "He already stole all of them, better continue and hope that he hasn't stolen all the memory chips." Mega Man thought.
He continued on his walk through the museum and then saw that all of the robotic guards had been blown to pieces. When he reached the main exhibit he saw a massive hole in the floor. He got his Mega buster ready and was about to jump into the hole, when he got knocked backwards by another skull shaped flying machine coming out of the ground.
The flying machine had a grabbing claw on its underside, which was holding onto a hard drive . Mega Man saw the computer and exclaimed "Let go of that computer Wily!"
The scientist in question hung his head out of the window of the machine and replied "Mega Man, what took you so long? Were you finally finished playing with dolls."
"So the hostage situation?" asked Mega man.
"Oh, that was nothing more than a distraction." replied Dr. Wily.
"And you waiting for me to arrive here?" asked Mega Man.
"That was also a distraction, also you should really be more aware of your surroundings." Said Dr. Wily.
"My surroundings?" asked Mega Man. He then turned around, only to get stabbed through the chest with a red sword by a cloaked figure. The person then removed his sword, causing Mega Man to explode into several blue bits of energy.
"That takes care of that." Said Wily, as he was about to fly away from the museum. Only to be stopped by the figure with the red sword. "Yes?"
"My payment?" was all the figure asked.
"Huh?" Asked Wily, only to remember what the deal was about. "Oh right that."
Dr Wily then threw a package at the cloaked figure, who then quickly disappeared from the room. "Odd fellow." Mused Dr Wily before escaping from the museum with the hard drive attached to the underside of the capsule.
Unbeknownst to the doctor Proto Man had seen what had happened, he rushed over to the place of the confrontation and grabbed Mega Man's memory chip, then turned into energy and teleported away.
Wily's castle
A couple hours later Dr Wily's flying machine had arrived at his fortress. He placed the hard drive in his lab, parked his flying machine in the garage and then made his way over to his laboratory. There he saw the unmoving bodies of all the stolen robot masters, he then said to himself "This might take a while, better get some coffee and prepare for no sleep for the coming week."
"I don't think there will be much need for that." Said a voice from within the shadows of the lab.
Wily looked towards the shadowy figure in the shadows of the lab and said "Watts, is that you?"
Dr. Watts emerged from the shadows and said "In the flesh, my balding colleague."
Wily scoffed at the comment and said "Why are you here... Better yet, how did you get here. My security is much better than Mantle's."
"Oh that, well you see it is true that your security is better than that in Mantle. But, it has no resistance against magic." Said Watts. "And even without her help, I would have gotten in here eventually."
"So she helped you get into my fortress, why are you here Arthur?" Asked Wily, he then pointed at the robot masters in the lab and added "As you can see the mission she gave me was successful. I didn't fail, my nemesis is taken care off for the time being. So why are you here?"
"Simple Albert, I was send here to help you reprogram the robots. The mistress has big plans in Vale, starting in about... lets say... two weeks. And she wants you and the robots to be ready by that point." Said Watts.
"Don't you have civilians that need slaughtering in Mantle? Or perhaps some systems that need to be hacked that you could help in?" Asked Wily.
"Nope, I took the next two weeks off just to help you. So what do you say friend, are you ready to cause some chaos?" Asked Watts, as he walked over to the deactivated robot masters and began to laugh maniacally.
Wily pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance and asked "How did you get them to help us?"
"Them? Oh right, we didn't tell you. We were just in luck, something happened and suddenly they changed their minds. You did give them their payment, right?" asked Watts.
"Off course, it was part of the deal. I just don't know how you managed to convince them." Said Wily.
"Don't worry about it, you should know by now that we can be very convincing." Said Watts, as he attached a cable to the hard drive and began to download data of the robot masters chips into the main computer. All the while Wily shuddered as he remembered what he had seen that was used to get him to work with Watts and the others. Watts then turned to Wily and said "Better get going, otherwise you might not make the end of the month."
Wily sighed in annoyance, he then walked over to Watts to help with the reprogramming and reactivation of the robot masters while muttering "I need more coffee to deal with this."
Mega Man or Rock as he likes to be called was floating around in an endless void as energy without a solid body. He didn't know for how long he had been there, and he didn't know if he was alone. That changed when he heard a voice speak up.
Legends, stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past.
Man born from dust was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness, creatures of destruction, the creatures of Grimm, set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.
However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named dust.
Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly life.
But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone... darkness will return.
So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called free world, but take heed... there will be no victory in strength.
But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul.
And then he heard the first voice get interrupted by a deep yet familiar voice.
Except not yet, because this story is not about them. At least not yet, because sometimes the same story that has been told in a thousand different ways can have different players involved.
To fully understand what is happening we need a change of perspective. A different time, in a different city even. A city that has been protected by a blue robot for several years at this point in time, a world that has been protected from an evil robotics scientist for the same amount of time. But that is not the only conflict that you'll be involved in, there are other players out there who will be wanting to take over everything.
But for now to fully understand what part you play in this conflict it is time for you to wake up, MEGA MAN.
It was then that Rock jolted awake after having spend some time as formless energy. He observed his surroundings and saw that nothing had changed about the lab. He then looked at his own body and saw that he was much taller than before. Even having longer limbs that could allow for him to move around more easily.
He looked up to see that he was in a pod, with wires stuck to every part of his body. Showing him that he was not ready to leave the pod. He then heard a voice announce "Repairs Completed", after which the wires were released from him and he was able to leave the pod. Mega Man looked around the lab, first he saw the computer and saw that it had taken a week for the repairs to be completed. He continued looking around and saw his robotic companion, Rush, sleeping on the floor.
He walked over to Rush, petted him and said "Hey there buddy, sorry I scared you."
Rush awoke and let out a bark "Arf", he then jumped up and tackled Mega Man to the ground and began to lick his face.
Mega Man laughed at the display of affection from his dog and said "I missed you too, but I've only been gone for a week."
Rush got off Mega Man and let out a whimper. Mega Man looked at his dog, saw the look in his eyes and tried to reassure him by saying "Don't worry, I promise I'm not going anywhere."
He then looked around the lab and saw the main computer, and saw a news article that read "Break-in at robot museum in Mantle, people responsible still at large."
"Dammit, I failed." Thought Mega Man. He then looked back on his memories of the past fifteen years of hunting down the robot masters. Remembering the pain and anguish that the robot masters were in each time they were used by Dr. Wily. "I saved them, I spared them from the pain of being used for nefarious purposes and I failed to save them."
He was then snapped out of his thoughts when he heard yelling coming from another part of the building.
Mega Man followed the noise and then entered the main room of the building. When he entered the room he saw his sister Roll and Auto hiding behind the couch. Looking further he saw a tall woman, with white hair in military uniform he did not recognize standing behind a man he recognized as General James Ironwood.
The General seemed to be in a shouting match with his father Dr. Light, a shouting match that neither man was beating the other in.
"I'm sorry Thomas, but this decision was made by the council." Said Ironwood, trying to decrease his own volume.
"No it wasn't, it was his decision, and his decision alone!" Shouted Dr Light. "What did he finally become a better person and began to start caring for his own children, because if that is that case then what is she still doing here?"
"I'm here because I'm a specialist in the Atlesian army, so please u-" Winter was about to say, only to be interrupted by Dr Light.
"You're just like your father, Specialist Schnee. Afraid to get your hand dirty, so instead you have other people do the hard work for you!" Exclaimed Dr Light, his attention was then caught by a cough coming from General Ironwood.
"Leave her out of this! It has nothing to do with that Thomas, the council just can't afford another robot outbreak like last year." Ironwood explained "Last years attack by Dr. Wily with Roboenza was the last straw. And with what happened last week with the large amount of destruction that was caused by your creation and Doctor Wily, the council has decided to no longer sanction these robot on robot fights."
"I see, so it seems that the council is now completely filled with spineless cowards!" Yelled Dr. Light.
"I'm sorry Thomas, we wouldn't normally do this. But the madman has more than eighty dangerous robots under his command. We can't risk it." Ironwood then noticed Mega Man and continued "Look, even your best creation was unable to stop him. You even had to rebuild him from scrap." Said Ironwood, referring to what had happened to Mega Man a week earlier.
"Leave Rock out of this James, he was ambushed by what I assume was a rogue hunter or huntress. Or maybe, maybe it was someone Wily hired from the Atlesian army, someone from your army that has gone rogue. Someone that you would have been responsible for!" Exclaimed Dr. Light in anger, he then realized what he had said and added. "Please, just give us a chance to rectify our mistake. We can stop Wily."
General Ironwood's brow furrowed in anger, and then he shouted out. "Like you have been stopping him for the past fifteen years! I'm sorry Thomas, but at some point you have to realize that not even you are above the law!"
"So the Atlesian military does consider itself above the law? Is that it?" asked Dr. Light in anger. When Ironwood didn't respond to the question Dr Light got even angrier and exploded at the general "I see how it is, all of you on the council have let Jacques Schnee put the fear of the unknown into your hearths. Cause that is all that the man is capable of, if there is something he can't control he'll have it destroyed. That is all that you have become James, his little lapdog."
Ironwood ignored the last comment and replied with "I'm sorry Thomas, but as I see it you are no longer supported by the law to go after Wily. As of right now you have two choices, you leave things be and we take custody of your lab and your creations or we arrest you on the spot for treason, and reprogram your creations to have them work with the Atlesian military. It's your choice."
"James, think this through. The Atlesian military stands no chance against him, he is prepared for anything you throw at him. He'll destroy everything, including the entire Atlesian army if you go after him!" Shouted Dr Light.
"I'm sorry Thomas, but there is no other option. So stand still, while you are taken into custody of the Atlesian Army." Replied General Ironwood, as he gave a signal to the soldiers that had come with him. Who then walked up to Doctor Light, Roll, Auto, and Mega man to take them into custody. Ironwood then added "I'm sorry for this Thomas, but like I said there is no other option right now."
"Maybe there is." Said a voice that was familiar to both General Ironwood and Dr. Light.
"Professor Ozpin, what are you doing here?" General Ironwood asked his old friend.
"I'm here to suggest a middle ground, have Mega Man or Rock as he likes to be called attend Beacon Academy." Said Professor Ozpin
"What?" was all that General Ironwood was able to bring himself to say.
"Let me repeat myself General. Let Mega Man attend Beacon Academy and have him, under supervision from our teachers, hunt down the robot masters. That way no laws will be broken, and as much as I hate to say this Jacques Schnee will get what he wants." Professor Ozpin finished explaining. "He'll also become a certified huntsman after four years, so if in that time we haven't stopped Wily he'll have nothing stopping him from taking down the madman."
General Ironwood took some time to think, and then replied with "Very well then I'll sanction this, under one condition. Thomas stays here in Atlas to help Dr. Polendina with the project that we have had him work on."
"Thomas, what is your stance on this?" asked Professor Ozpin.
Dr. Light stayed quiet for a bit and then responded with "I'll agree to this, but promise me that you'll keep him safe, and out of harms way."
"Off course, safety is our number one priority after all." Replied Professor Ozpin.
"Good, because if anything happens to him, anything at all. Be it an injury that leaves him unable to continue or his complete destruction. There will be hell to pay Ozpin." Said Dr Light.
"Like I said, safety is our number one priority so don't worry about it." Said Professor Ozpin.

Also I know this is a bit of a slow start, but I urge you to stick with this story. No matter how boring it might seem to you, I promise you things will get better.
