Chapter 59: Kill the Informant

BEN EXITED THE ROOM, HIS face turning back to a slumbering Sheele. A small smile was shared before he closed the door. He then turned to Lubbock, who had a little bit of a smirk, but he parking lot that for later. Ben took a deep breath, he was familiar on Night Raid's missions, he was familiar about how they do things. Though, he always wanted to see if there was another way to resolve this conflict rather than leaving the Capital under a sea of blood. He locked the door and leaned against it, his arms crossed and his eyes were locked to Lubbock's.

"What's the mission?" Ben asked.

"To meet with the Resistance. Tatsumi and Mine are going with Najenda and the rest. She thought that Tatsumi and I could meet with them until she remembered that you can turn invisible using that Big Chill transformation of yours. Since you happen to be volatile, you are a key asset to this mission," Lubbock said.

"Plus you and I do not have Wanted Posters right?" he asked.

"Correct," Lubbock continued, "We are the only ones here who can do what needs to be done; be ready by noon," Lubbock said.

Ben nodded. Lubbock turned and walked away and Ben turned back to the room. He got in, Sheele being asleep still. He wanted to transform andlocate the bodies of the victims, the Emperor's parents, to build his case. Not wanting to wake her, he walked to the cabinet, grabbed the hair and left the room again.

Ben walked into the hallway, his head turning in every corner until he got into the Conference Room where the large Night Raid flag stood on the wall. He took a deep breath, looked around and pulled out the Emperor's hairlocks and placed them on the table.

"There we go," Ben said, "It's hero time."

He activated the Ultimatrix, the core popped up showing a green hologram of a humanoid figure with flowing locks. He pressed the core down, enveloping his body in a flash of emerald green light. When the light died down stood a slender and lean purple energy being with two energy locks on opposite ends of his head. He had no mouth and emerald green eyes. He wore nothing but black pants with the Ultimatrix symbol emblemized to his chest,

"MANAFEST!" Manafest yelled. "Finally, something that I wanted to use! Now..." his eyes, narrowed, his focus now on the locks on the table. "Now to find where those bodies are." he stretched his hands, now glowing bright magenta. The hair, now enveloped in the magenta aura floated up. Manafest closed his eyes.

"Ostendo Specialis," Manafest conjured. The hair evaporated and opened up an image of an old church in the middle of the capital, specifically at a plot of land nearest to the church.

"Got it," Manafest said, now enveloped in the same emerald green light. When the light died down stood Ben, though the lock of hair he stole form the Emperor was long gone.

He took a deep breath, now knowing where the bodies are; he conjured a plan as to how to get there and what to get to prove to the Emperor his case. He prayed that this could be a way to spare the Emperor's life while making the Prime Minister pay for all of his crimes.

"I hope this is enough," said Ben.

"So...you're a magician too," said an interested yet bitter voice. Ben paused, narrowed, and darted his eyes to who was behind him.

"You saw?" Ben asked.

Leone leaned against the wall, a fixed smile on her face as she chewed on a straw. "You know at any time you could..."

"Yeah I know," Ben said, turning around stopping her mid-sentence, "At any time I could use one of my heavy hitters and wipe out the Capital with no effort; it's an easy solution, but in a situation like this, nothing is simple. But if I were to do that, that means innocent people would be wiped out. And I can't have that," Ben said, impressing Leone.

"Huh? Hm," she started, "I wasn't gonna say that at all. We all know you can do it, you're just a little cautious about your Imperial Arms...er...your Ultimatrix thing," Leone said.

"What? Oh...okay...then why are you here?" Ben asked.

"Oh...you know just wondering if you had gotten taller is all," she said, confusing the young hero. Ben arched his left brow.

"Um...okay?" Ben said. "So you're still not salty about that battle against Rath? No insults? No threats?"

Leone approached the young hero, confidence and a hell of a lot of cockiness in her tone, with some flirtation...clear flirtation. She wasn't even hiding it. "Nah, at least not now. Decided to give you the break for the day. Besides, I'm coming to let you know that Sheele's not the only girl around here who wants to give you a nasty gobby. Careful, you'll start a harem; and guys like you can't handle shit like that. Better yet..." Leone opened her mouth and gave the young, shocked hero, a long kiss. She broke it; patted his head and turned.

"...I don't mind sharing," she winked, walking away swaying her hips, "Oh, you still owe me that fight after this revolution is over."

Ben just stood there all confused. He wiped his mouth when she left and shook himself back to reality.

"Did...did Leone just kissed me?" Ben asked the many questions that sadly will not get answered. Then something occurred. A lightning bolt struck the young man at the temple of his head.

Sheele likes him, and he likes her. Sheele, amongst all others, was not afraid to show her feelings. She was becoming more open about how she felt, even at times kissing him in front of front of everyone at a few occasions. They cared about each other. Played with each other, laughed with each other, and at times, taking from Leone's playbook, she would often tease him at times. She would often act like Ben's bodyguard even though Ben didn't need one. Albeit, if Sheele was in Ben's world, and as a Plumber no doubt, she could possibly take out some, if not most, of his enemies before he had the chance to transform into anything.

Akame was no saint either; she would kiss him, but not as frequent as Sheele. She would be on and off about her feelings for the young man. Something that confused him a little bit, moreso than Sheele. One moment she's hot, next moment she's cold. Though he had to remember that she did tell him once before that she and her sister, who's name was not mentioned to him at all, was sold off to the Empire to be raised as assassins. That was something that bothered Ben to no end. He was told by Tatsumi and Mine that Akame liked him.

~Hell, she even tried to copy some of your moves at times!~ he remembered Mine telling him.

He was far warned about the Empire, thanks to Paradox.

And now...out of all people, Leone, just without warning just kissed him.

There was no fight.

There was no mission at all.

He barely had any interaction with her. Leone would just be there complaining be oftentimes be awfully jealous of the young man, even to the point of wanting to fight the guy in front of Sheele. Maybe she started to go a little soft on him, seeing him as a person to screw with rather than maim or kill.

She just kissed him. Why? Why did she do that? Maybe he shouldn't dwell in that. "Okay, maybe I need to put that strange event into the 'what the hell happened' category in that mental file cabinet," Ben thought.

He took a deep breath and went back to his room to join with Sheele.

BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10

Esdeath was in her room wearing nothing more but her blue , revealing bathrobe. She just got out of the shower just washing up her body, though she had a harder time trying to cleanse her mind. Her mind raced from the time that she spent time with Tatsumi and when she fought the familiar young hero. She caught herself thinking more about the young hero than Tatsumi. Albeit, moreso as an adversary...though that could change. She could never forget how helpless she felt. The beating she had, the humiliation she saw Seryu was put through over and over and over again, and now...she's missing. The person who was crazy about killing Ben Tennyson was missing. Did he kill her? No Imperial Officer came back to report anything like that, or anything similar, so they could be nothing more but allegations and rumors. Something that were of no use if you're the most feared General, second to the Great General Budo.

Esdeath was brushing her blue hair, her face, flatter than the plains of the inland countryside, eyes locked in her reflection.

Was it fear? Couldn't be. She would have been driven mad! Madder than Seryu if that were to be possible. As she brushed her long, flowing blue hair, her thoughts continued to race.

"Based on the forms this boy can transform into, he could have easily killed me and my entire army, taken over the Capital and ruled as he sees fit. Why doesn't he do it?" she asked herself. "This boy has all the power in the world and yet he uses it not for his benefit. Clearly for someone as young as him couldn't have gotten that ability from anywhere. I tried looking through the library for anything that could resemble an imperial arm that could possibly explain how he was able to transform into those creatures," she continued; "I looked and I looked but nothing. There was no records of an 'Ultimate Echo Echo' or a 'Rath' anywhere. More surprisingly, this boy's not in any record. No family. No friends. Nothing. Who was he really? Could he be more of a threat to the Empire than Night Raid, than the Revolutionary Army," she continued, "If that was the case, and he was part of the Revolutionary Army, then the war is lost if all these reports coming from a few of my officers are true."

She placed the brush down on the cabinet's top surface, the front of the bristles facing the mirror at a clear 14 degree angle to the left as the slight dim lighting from the candles, placed at a rough juxtaposition from said brush, "I clearly want to see him at his best; and if he is just as powerful as I think he is, then I would have been mistaken...my love would have been misplaced. This should be fun," Esdeath said with a wicked smile, now forming across her face as she blew out the candles.

BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10

The next day, Mine, Tatsumi, Akame, and Susanoo were acting as guards for Najenda as she was having a meeting with two of the spies for the Revolutionary Army for intel. Unfortunately the news wasn't as welcoming as she hoped.

"Continue the mission as planned," she ordered.

"Right, you can count on us!" said the female member with determination in her eyes.

Najenda walked through the stoned arch, eyes closed with her aura seeping with disappointment. Susanno and Akame were up against the walls on opposite ends of each other as Mine and Tatsumi were positioned slightly adjacent towards their respective corners.

"Apparently, we're no longer in contact with the Western Tribe," she said.

"Hm? Really?" Akame asked, surprised.

"It's fine. I was expecting this," Najenda continued; she then turned to her team, "Let's not deviate from the plan. When we stomr the palace, I would like the two of you to take the lead," she said.

"And what about Mr. Benjamin?" Susanoo asked.

"Ben would act as a bulldozer for us. He's powerful enough to withstand anything thrown at him making it easy for us to take the palace without any casualties," she said. "He would have a larger role in our plan to take the palace and remove the Minister."

"Making it so that we do not lose anyone during our siege. Ben is powerful enough to be that bulldozer we needed," Akame said.

"Exactly, adding him to the fold would be a curbstomp! Any army that storm our way, he can transform into Rath and BOOM! Instawin!"Mine said, sounding more and more like a fangirl than anything else.

"Gotta agree with Mine. Putting Ben in there would have it where we can just walk in there, take the palace, and we don't lose anyone!" Incursio said.

"Aside from our powerhouse, do not fail in this mission. Is that understood?" Najenda commanded.

"Understood," Susanoo and Akame said in unison.

Najenda nodded, looking up to the sky with a worried eye, "Ben, Lubbock, please get through this."

BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10BEN10

AT THE CAPITAL, Ben and Lubbock were walking in an empty, unoccupied alley just a shy of a few kilometers away from the Palace. Ben had been to the Capital a few times before; though he had to admit, the buildings do look impressive. Almost European like...mostly. There were no cars, people rode mostly in horse and carriage. The technology in the area, if he had not figured it out already was grossly primitive. It was almost as if he stepped 150 years in the German Empire or somewhere in the early years in the British Empire or somewhere similar.

"Hey Ben," Lubbock began.

"Yeah? What's up?" Ben answered.

"You know, its funny. From all the times you've spent with us, I never get to know or at least talk you much. Like the last time we ever talked was when I tried to kill you twice," he chuckled.

"Yeah. Who can forget?" Ben said, with a hint of disdain in his voice, mentally thanking Lubbock, with a sarcastic flare, for the reminder that Night Raid wanted to kill him, not for just attacking them, well in this case defending himself against them in the first go...and live, but being a potential threat for if he ever defects to them. Since that chapter was closed, Ben noticed that Night Raid had been a little bit more nicer and open to him, even to the point of them treating him like one of their own.

"Yeah right? And I think you had that conversation over and over again, so I'm not gonna repeat it," Lubbock said, "Though, just wondering, what are you planning on doing after the revolution?" he asked.

"Probably go home, watch some Sumo-Slammers and..." Ben caught himself when he saw that confused look on Lubbock's face.

"It's a show," he said, "I've been a fan of it ever since I was a kid."

"Ooookay," Lubbock ended it like that.

"What about you? You got plans?" Ben asked as they continued walking. Lubbock relaxed as he walked with his arms behind his back, eyes closed like a smooth guy...even though he didn't really have any game to begin with.

"Well, I've been running that bookstore on the side. Probably make it into a national chain or something," he said.

"Oh that's cool," Ben said.

"And then probably, finally ask Najenda to marry me!" Lubbock said with extreme pride, moreso than the comment he made about him running a bookstore and turning it into a franchise.

"I want to be blunt here, but I'm just gonna let a man dream and have it be crushed later," Ben thought, "That's nice," he finally said, in a sly sarcastic tone in his voice.

"While we're on the subject, what's going on between you and your little harem?" Lubbock asked. Ben's eyes popped.

"Wait what the hell? I don't have a harem!" Ben protested.

"Ah come on, you can tell me," Lubbock teased as he leaned onto Ben, his arm wrapped around him as he wore his smug grin across his face. "Everyone knows that ever since you saved both Sheele and Akame they've been doing nothing but going head over heels for you. Ooh, let me guess, Sheele at least gave you a little bit of a slobber on the knobber right? Huh?" Ben tried to push Lubbock away as he mockingly puckered his lips.

"Okay dude, stop!" Ben shouted.

Then suddenly...

"Uh...pardon me?" Both men turned right and saw a cloaked figure walking amongst them. "You're uh...members of Night Raid, right?"

Lubbock regained his composure and let go of Ben; his face, now serious faced the cloaked figure.

"Let me guess, you're one of the resistance," Lubbock guessed.

"I am," said the fiugure as they unveiled their cloak, revealing a beautiful young woman with purple eyes and short, blue hair with locks hanging freely from each side. The back of it was held by a scrunchie. She donned a reddish dress with a lavender blue, shoulder-length hooded cloak and brown shoes.
