A/N: Finally remembered my password, lmao. I thought I might as well repost my fics from last year here as well. This was originally posted to AO3 in August. Title is an adapted lyric from Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me. Hope you enjoy!
Alphonse Elric is a lovely, charming, well-spoken boy. That's what his teachers always say, anyway. He's a top student, respected among his peers, and — life-long issues with asthma aside — he's even pretty good at sports when needed. All things considered, he's really a decent guy.
And Alphonse Elric is definitely the kind of decent guy that doesn't get flustered over seeing his older brother bend over, yes sir. Not even when said brother was in a deliciously short cheerleader skirt, with only the thinnest layer of black tights covering his muscular thighs that led straight up to his wonderfully, unfairly, sinfully perfect—
"Al," Winry interrupted. "You were saying?"
"Guh," said Alphonse, most eloquently.
Winry rolled her eyes. She had gotten cute over the summer too, and her new ear piercings gave her a punk rock look that complemented her girlish face nicely. Alphonse wondered if some freak accident caused some sort of pretty potion to leak into the Resembool water supply while he was gone. It would have been an interesting topic for his summer internship at the university lab. "This whole getting distracted by Ed thing is getting out of hand," she said.
"Of course I'm distracted. I came back after two months to discover my brother is willingly cheering on Roy Mustang's dumb football team," said Alphonse. He gulped down his embarrassment and forced himself to face Winry's unimpressed stare. "I'm adjusting."
"And does this adjustment period of yours need us to be at the bleachers every day?" said Winry.
"It's called acclimatization, Winry. I read about it in this fishkeeping book," said Alphonse. "You have to let the fish gradually adjust to its new environment. You have to continually expose the fish to its new environment, drop by drop, until it's properly settled. I am exposing myself to my new environment."
Winry sipped her iced coffee. "You're ogling your brother in broad daylight."
"I'm acclimatizing," Alphonse insisted.
Edward chose that moment to notice their presence, meet his gaze, and have the audacity to send him a cheeky wink.
Alphonse whimpered. Dear mother in heaven, he was doomed.
