Considering Future Steps
Trying to take his mind off his turmoil, Jake instead headed out to meet up with the rest of the Avengers, all of them were planning to meet up after all. It did not take long to find them, they had all agreed on the meeting place after all, in the middle ground close to where they all lived. When he arrived he saw they'd all arrived already and he smiled lightly before reaching over them and they all smiled in greeting as he sat down next to Eddie and Amanda. Eddie smirked a little and winked at him, he managed to barely hide his smirk, knowing what that was about.
"So...I heard a little interesting story." Stephanie remarked out of nowhere. "Something about a face from the past for your dads, Jake, Eddie...something to do with that robbery, perhaps?"
Jake and Eddie shared a look and then Eddie replied casually. "No idea what you mean."
"Yeah, right." Stephanie replied, shaking her head.
Jake shrugged. "C'mon, it's in the past now, things are calm here. But...we have to try and think, focus about things, such as the future."
Kelsey quirked an eyebrow. "The future?"
"The future plans we're gonna have to make." Jake clarified. "Given that we've got a lot of problems to deal with right now, Venom and his new creatures."
The others nodded and Matthew sighed.
"Yeah...some strange threats we've been dealing with so far." He mused. "What are we gonna do about it, especially when we have to consider the other villains we've been dealing with."
They all lapsed into silence for a moment, considering.
Finally, after being quiet for a while longer, Terry broke the silence.
"Jake's right you guys, let's not dwell on the past, focus on the present and future."
The others agreed as Amanda then added. "We know we're up against Venom, apparently the other supervillains learned about the Symbiote and the infected creatures being around, they were after that power for themselves."
"Sounds right." Thomas replied. "The biggest question right now is...what do we do?"
Barbara sighed. "I don't know if there's much we can do. I mean...we're talking about an enemy who is clearly building an army but doing so in a place out of our range and therefore we can only be ready to meet the army, rather than try to fight against the preparations."
"We can't stop him, so we've gotta wait for him to be ready and fight when he's ready." Jake summarised. "Just great."
"No, no, no, no, no." Eddie interrupted. "That's not the attitude to take, we can handle this guys. We've faced Venom before. Yeah he's got some monstrous new army, but we know what to expect from him and thanks to our parents we know what these creatures can do...So we can do this, yeah. We just gotta do our own preparations."
"Eddie's right." Barbara agreed. "We know what Venom is capable of, so let's just be ready for him, yeah?"
Jake bit his lip. "That's true, but things are different this time, more...dangerous for some of us, right?"
They all shared a worried look at that, knowing what he meant.
"That's true." Eddie admitted. "But we can handle it, Jake, we all can."
They all nodded encouragingly and so Jake smiled, reassured, they were right, it was time to prepare for battle.
Deciding to take advantage of their plans to prepare for the upcoming battle against Venom, Spider-Boy had suited up and was swinging through the city on patrol. The others had headed home, they'd be suited up and likely doing their own patrols or preparations, but right now he was on his own. He didn't mind, things seemed to be relatively peaceful for a change. As he swung through the streets, that peacefulness made his mind wander, wandering to Venom and his past, what they knew about him.
'I still can't believe this happened to you, Harry…' He thought sadly.
For that was Venom's true identity, Harry Osborn, the son of former mayor and former head of Oscorp, Norman Osborn. A philanthropist and a very well-liked man, unlike his father, Harry earned the respect of everyone around him and stayed well away from any shady dealings, even those that might help him turn a profit, focusing his efforts or improving the environment. That was until it was learned he was suffering from a debilitating disease, the same as his mother had suffered and died from. This led to the discovery of the Symbiote which actually bonded with him and protected him from the disease, at a great cost. Something the Avengers sadly learned and had been forced, in order to put a stop to Venom without killing Harry, as separating them would do so, they had to trap him and seal him away, only now he was free again and had become an even worse threat.
Shaking his head, Spider-Boy continued to swing through the streets until he saw something and stopped. Swinging over to land on the side of a building and looked down below, unable to help himself he smiled as he looked down at the sight of Jessica below. She was seated on a bench on the sidewalk, reading something, he was too far away to make it out properly, but he still took note of it. He watched over her for a while but then sighed.
'I've, I've gotta stop this, I can't let myself get carried away, it's not fair on her.' He told himself.
So, shaking his head and trying to focus again, he was about to swing off when suddenly he was tackled out of nowhere and landed hard, groaning he forced himself to his feet, startled at the sudden impact, with no warning. He then saw why, for approaching him was a familiar sight. It was a tall, entirely black creature with incredible musculature, terrifying large blank white eyes, a wide mouth of razor sharp teeth, a large white symbol, front and back, that resembled his own spider symbol and a long reptilian like tongue.
"Hello, little Spider, miss us?"
It was Venom.
