The end of summer rolled around, and somehow, my life was even more chaotic with my new Kneazle, Cleo. She grew pretty quickly, and was about the size of a regular cat despite being a couple weeks old. She seemed to have it out for Scabbers, and I had to separate them more than once. She loved to curl up on mine or Ginny's laps, she hated the boys with a burning passion. The night before we were to head to Hogwarts, Mum cooked us a right feast. It was filled with all of everyone's favourite foods, ending with my favourite treacle pudding. Everyone had a mug of hot chocolate as Fred and George showed off their blue and red Filibuster Fireworks. Once everyone had finished their drinks, we all headed to bed. I pulled the sheets over Ginny, Cleo curling at her feet. "Kenzie?" She started softly.
"Yeah, Gin?" I looked up to her as I spoke.
"Was your first day at Hogwarts…scary?"
"Oh, I was terrified." I admitted, pushing some of Ginny's hair out of her eye. "But, I knew I would be ok, because I had all our brothers looking out for me." I sat next to Ginny and pulled her close to me. "I'll be there for you, always." I kissed the top of Ginny's head. "Now, do you think you can sleep?" Ginny nodded. She settled into bed, pulling the sheets up to her chin. I stood and headed to bed myself.
The next morning, Mum was practicaly shoving food into our mouths as she frantically searched for spare socks, quills, books and who knows what else. People collide on the stairs, half-dressed and barely awake, and Dad almost broke his neck tripping over Lucy the chicken as he carried Ginny's trunk to the car. When we did get into the car, Dad pulled me and Harry to the side. "Not a word to Molly." He insisted. Harry and I shared a glance before getting into the car…and I realised what Dad was talking about. He had enchanted the Ford Anglia with an undetectable extension charm or something of the like, because the car managed to fit 9 people, 7 trunks, 2 owls, a rat and a Kneasele. Mum looked around and turned to Dad.
"Muggles do know ore than we give them credit for, don't they?" She wondered before getting in the front with Dad and Ginny, sitting comfortably in the park-bench-like front seat. "I mean, you'd never know it was this roomy from the outside, would you?" We headed out…but then had to go back because George forgot his box of Filibuster Fireworks, Fred left his broomstick and Ginny had forgotten her diary. By the time we were all ready to leave, we were running late. Dad glanced at his watch and then Mum.
"Molly, dear-"
"No, Arthur."
"But no one would see. This little button hear is an Invisibility Booster I installed, that'd get us up in the air, then we fly above the clouds. We'd be there in ten minutes and no one would be any the wiser-"
"I said no, Arthur, not in broad daylight." We made it to Kings Cross Station at 11:45, Dad racing to grab enough trolleys to fit all our trunks. We scrambled into the station and raced to the platform entrance. "Percy and Kenzie first." Mum insisted, glancing up at the clock with nervous eyes that said we had 5 minutes before the train left. Percy loaded his trunk onto my trolley, and we entered Platform 9 and ¾. Dad, Fred and George followed after, and then it was Mum and Ginny. We hurried to load everyone and everything onto the train and said goodbye to our parents.
"Kenzie, we have a meeting to go to-" Percy started.
"Which I will go to once Ginny is settled." I insisted to him. "By Merlin, Percy, calm down." I set my hands on Ginny's shoulders and guided her through the train cart until I found Hermione.
"Kenzie." Hermione greeted with a smile.
"Hi, Hermione." I replied, smiling softly. "I was hoping you could look after Ginny for a bit, just until Ron and Harry find you, I have a prefect meeting."
"Yes, of course." Hermione said. Ginny slipped into the carriage with the bushy-haired girl.
"I'll be back soon." I promised before heading off to join Percy to the Prefect Carrige. To be quite honest, the meeting was boring. We were instructed by the Head Girl and Head Boy of our house, telling us what our roles were. We could deliver punishments, take and give points, but not to our fellow Prefects, and we had a couple extra responsibilities throughout the year, like guiding the First Years to their common room. We were there for about an hour before we were released to go back to the train. I headed back to the carriage where Ginny and Hermione were waiting. "Where are the boys?" I asked, closing the cabin doors.
"They haven't come." Ginny said softly.
"Did they even get on the train?" Hermione asked.
"Well…" I trailed off. "We were in a rush, we almost didn't make the trai…maybe they missed the train?"
"Missed the train?" Hermione cried. "How would they get to Hogwarts then?"
"I don't know. None of us have ever missed the train."
"Mum and Dad can probably get them to school with the car, right?" Ginny asked me.
"I'm sure they'll be able to get them to Hogwarts." I assured, patting Ginny's hand. "Now, Hermione, tell us all about your holidays." The three of us made idle chat on the train ride, even though I stepped out a handful of times to patrol the carriages. We all changed into our robes and an hour or so later we arrived at Hogsmeade Station. I sent Ginny off with Hagrid while Hermione and I headed to the carriages. Hermione was in awe about how the carriages worked, I refrained from telling her how they truly worked. The ride to the Castle was the same as the year before. The Sorting Hat Ceremony was the same again, the only highlights that I thought were worth paying attention to was Ginny getting into Gryffinfor, and a girl that I babysat, Luna Lovegood was sorted into Ravenclaw.
Rumours were whispered throughout the hall, that Harry and Ron had crashed a flying car into the Whomping Willow…the Ford Anglia. My head fell into my hands, my hair turning burgundy in frustration. The boys took the flying car to Hogwarts. I was going to kill my brother. I couldn't concentrate on the Sorting Hat's song that year, and it was soon time to head to bed. My fellow Prefect, a boy named Dominic, and I were given the password so we could take the First years to the common room. We explained the rules and everything that they neded to know. After we sent them to bed, I headed to bed. I was worried about Harry and Ron, but I know Percy would deal with them.
