Yuri Plisetsky is someone who Yuuri Katsuki didn't want to make mad. Understandable, considering how much the Russian didn't like him to begin with.
Viktor likes him, and that makes Yuuri want to be friends with the young skater; even if the teenager doesn't want to reciprocate. The Russian is an amazing skater and Yuuri believes that if he were to win the gold medal in this competition he wouldn't be against it. Sure, he'd be upset; he wanted to win, who doesn't? Yuuri also wanted to prove to himself and Viktor that he is a good skater. He also wanted to make Viktor, his parents, and friends proud of him. Yuuri knows deep down that no matter what everyone he had named would always be proud of him, but winning would bring up his confidence in the situation.
Yuuri Katsuki walked towards the bench with Viktor to get the results of his performance. He was panting; he might have failed in his last move but the fact he almost completed an extremely hard move that not even Viktor himself attempted anywhere near the end of his performances. Viktor seemed proud, or at least Yuuri believes he does. It's hard to tell when the man always masks his emotions when he gets his results. But his eyes were never masking his emotions, and they were shining with what Yuuri believes is pride.
As we were waiting to hear the results Yurio walked past us. Viktor hopped up and started waving. Yuuri smiled at the scene and waved as well.
"What's this?" one of the announcers began, they clearly looked up after tallying his score to see the scene. "It seems Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki are giving well wishes and encouragements to Yuri Plisetsky."
Yuuri blushes faintly, Viktor looking proud of what he has just done, while Yuri looks traumatized. The boy looks how Yuuri feels when his parents cheer him on for something simple. It hits him at that point that Yuri might feel as if he and Viktor are the equivalent of parents to him. Yuuri didn't know how to feel about that concept.
Yuri was not impressed with what Viktor or Yuuri had done.
As Yuri is going through his routine of the agape that Viktor created for him, Yuuri watches with wide eyes. The teenager bent forward, arms back and above his head. Yuuri gasps at the sight. He didn't think it was possible to look so majestic. Not only that but he didn't expect Yuri to look that majestic. He looked like an angel.
Yuuri thought that the young skater was nicknamed 'tiger', or 'fairy'. Not 'angel'.
It seemed like Viktor agreed with him as he was watching the teenager with the same amount of pride his own father showed every time he saw Yuuri. The Japanese man didn't know it, but his eyes shone with pride, as well.
How could Viktor and Yuuri possibly tell any of this to the younger?
They really don't know…
