Chapter 3
For the next three days, Riley burned as the venom rushed through his veins. On the third day, Riley woke up, stronger and with a burning in his throat. Victoria was there with a homeless man who looked terrified even to be there. Riley lunged at the helpless man and sank his razor-sharp teeth into the man's neck. Riley drank from the man draining him dry.
After Riley was done drinking from the man, he tossed the limp body to the ground. Riley looked at Victoria and saw the lust forming in her eyes. Riley walked towards Victoria, grabbed her, and held her staring into her eyes. They started ripping clothes off in desperate need of one another.
(Meanwhile in La Push)
Paul sat vigil at Katherine's bedside. When Paul and Sam returned to the house Emily had filled them in on everything that Katherine had told her. Upon returning Paul asked Emily if Katherine was still awake. Emily told him no she wasn't. Paul went upstairs anyway and watched over his imprint.
As Paul started to doze, he heard a small meek voice. "Who are you?"
Paul blinked open his eyes to see the green-eyed, blonde-haired beauty that is his imprint staring back at him.
"I am Paul, I am the one who found you."
"You found me. Do you know how I got to the woods in the first place?"
"No, I am sorry I don't. All I know is that you were being chased."
"I remember now, I ran away from Riley my boyfriend. He wanted me to meet some woman who could give us immortality. Which I know isn't possible, you live then you die."
"We will keep you safe from Riley, nobody here will hurt you."
"Thank you, I appreciate all the help you guys can give me."
"Anything for a beautiful woman like yourself."
Katherine blushes and turns her head away. Emily walks in with Leah.
"Hello Katherine, how are we feeling?" Emily asks.
"I am in some pain and feeling dirty I would enjoy a shower."
"Okay, you can have a shower as soon as the doctor looks you over and you speak to Chief Swan," Emily tells Katherine.
"Okay. How fast can we get going?"
"Let me just go get the doctor quickly."
Emily leaves the room, for a short while. Soon Emily comes back with the doctor.
"Katherine, this is Doctor Greentree he will be looking you over," Emily tells Katherine.
Emily goes to leave the room and turns and makes a gesture at Paul and Paul starts to leave the room, Katherine sees Paul leaving.
"Paul, could you stay? I feel safe with you in the room." Katherine asks Paul.
"Sure, Katherine."
Paul looks on as Katherine gets looked over by Doctor Greentree. As Greentree was looking at Katherine's left arm, Paul could feel the pain that Katherine was in whenever Doctor Greentree touched her arm.
"So, your arm isn't broken, but it is sprained you will have to have it wrapped in a bandage and wear it in a sling for a few weeks."
As Doctor Greentree wraps Katherine's left arm in a bandage, Chief Charlie Swan walks into the room.
"Katherine, I am Police Chief Charlie Swan. Do you remember who was chasing you through the woods?"
"Yeah, it was Riley Biers. My boyfriend."
"Why was he chasing you through the woods?"
"He wanted me to go to Seattle with him. He said that there was a lady there that could give us immortality."
"How was this lady going to give you immortality?"
"I don't know. But it isn't possible."
"Okay, well you will be safe here."
"Are you saying I can't go home?"
"For right now, yes. We need to catch Riley before you can go home. I am sorry."
"I guess I will have to find a place to stay and a job."
"I may have a place for you to stay," Paul tells Katherine.
"Really? That is great. But only if, you are sure."
"Yes, I am sure," Paul tells Katherine.
"Thank you. But I still need to find a job, so I can buy the things I need like clothes."
"Let's get you well before you find a job," Paul says to Katherine.
"I may have a solution for your job problem," Charlie tells them.
"Oh yeah Charlie, what kind of solution?" Paul asks Charlie.
"Bella is opening a bookstore, and she will need help once she gets it opened, I could talk to her for you. I will let you know Paul so you can tell Katherine."
"Thank you, Chief Swan," Katherine says to Charlie.
Charlie leaves the room and Katherine goes to get up from the bed.
"Here let me help you," Paul says to Katherine.
Leah walks into the room.
"Katherine, this here is Leah, she will help you take a shower," Paul tells Katherine.
Leah leads Katherine out of the room to the bathroom across the hall. Once in the bathroom, Leah helps Katherine undress. Leah turns on the water and warms it up, Leah turns to Katherine and can see the marks on her body left on her body from Riley and from running away from him in the woods. Leah felt like crying for the poor girl. Leah helped Katherine unwrap her arm, Leah tested the water and determined that it was just right for Katherine to take a shower. Leah helps Katherine into the shower and climbs in after her.
"Oh Leah, your clothes will get all wet," Katherine says to Leah.
"It's fine, you are more important than some clothes."
"By the way, Leah, call me Kat, Katherine is just too long for anybody to say quick enough."
"Okay, Kat."
Leah starts to wash Kat and clean the mud and sticks from Kat's hair. When there is a loud howl from outside.
"What was that?" Kat asks Leah.
"There are wolves that live in the woods." Leah lies.
"Oh."
