Vidia awoke with a start. She shot up from the bed she was on, gasping. A groan escaped her lips as she looked around, barely registering that she was in the infirmary back in pixie hollow. Her head was throbbing and she was barely able to stay conscious.

"Vidia! You're awake!" A voice exclaimed. One look told Vidia that it was a new healing talent.

"Where are the others?" Vidia questioned, shoving the blankets off herself and onto the floor.

She tried to get up but she failed miserably. Her legs screamed in protest and she stumbled, almost collapsing.

"You can't get out of bed!" The healing talent yelled. Vidia glanced at her name tag and found out her name was Cure.

"Try and stop me" Vidia snarled.

This time, instead of trying to walk, she launched into the air and flew out of the room, leaving a shucked fairy behind. She flew to the queen's ward in search of Clarion and the others.

"Vidia!" Snowflake called from a doorway that Vidia had just passed.

"Minister" Vidia said stiffly before flying into the room.

The scene inside was nothing like she expected. There was 3 beds, one with Clarion, one with Milori and one with Daina. Milori looked as if he had just regained consciousness. He had multiple burn marks. Clarion was still asleep, bandages covering her body. Daina looked by far the worst. she still looked deathly pale. The only indication that she was alive was the tiny movements her chest made while she made shallow breaths.

The ministers, Mary and Dewey were scattered around the room. What shocked Vidia the most was that Hyacinth was sitting by Daina, grasping her hand in his, with tear marks on his face

"How long have I been out?" Vidia demanded.

"3 days" Redleaf replied.

"Are they going to be ok?" Vidia gestured to the three in the beds.

Everyone turned to the healing fairy in the room, Remedy. "Milori should be fine to leave in a few hours. His burns aren't too bad. Clarion should awake sometime today. Her vitals are ok, but I need to wait until she is awake before I can do a proper check. As for Daina, i'm afraid only Clarion can help"

"What do you mean?" Hyacinth asked, his throat raw from crying.

"She was hit with a ball of green fire. Only Clarion can tell us what that means. None of us were here when it was first used." Remedy replied apologetically.

There was a loud gasp as Clarion suddenly regained consciousness.

That night, everyone was gathered in the queen's study. It had been deemed ok for Clarion and Milori to be there for a few hours, as long as there was a few healing talents nearby. They were all looking expectantly at Clarion to explain Daina's condition.

Clarion sighed before she started her explaination. "This has happened once before. Daina took a blast of green fire for me when she was protecting me all those years ago. She almost died then. Green fire is a form of dark magic that slowly puts the receiver in a very deep slumber. This slumber is anything but peaceful, as it will be filled with nightmares long since forgotten"

Clarion's explaination was met with silence as every one digested what she had said.

"How did you heal her?" Hyacinth asked finally.

Clarion's expression darkened. Iit took all the healing talents, some very ancient healing remedies and a power I no longer have. And even then, it never truly went away"

"What will happen to her now?" Sunflower asked.

"Something much, much worse. And I have no idea how to fix it"

The meeting ended there, no one having the emotional capacity to deal with this.

The next day, everyone took turns speaking to daina alone. She might not be able to hear them or reply, but that didn't mean they weren't going to speak with her.

Snowflake walked in first. It pained her to see her friend in this state.

"Come on Daina. You better get better soon, or your gonna miss seeing me make a move on Red" Snowflake said, a single tear falling. "I decided to follow your advice and finally admit that I like him. But there is no way i'm gonna do anything without you here, so you better wake up."

Snowflake ended up leaving the room an hour later, talking to daina about there adventures and multiple failed attempts to get Milori and Clarion together.

Sunflower went into the room in gloomy mood, something that had only happened once before.

"I swear Daina, you better be back soon, or else i'll set my bumblebees on you" Sunny's eyes clouded up with tears. "And you know that they won't miss. Remember what they did to Ree that one time? She had honey in her hair for a week."

Sunflower left the room with a steely determination to bring her friend back. She had missed the pranks and jokes they did on the others.

When Redleaf walked into the room, it was with a resolve not to cry.

"Daina, when you come back you have some explaining to do" Redleaf stated. "It seems that hyacinth actually misses you. Did you two finally admit that you like each other or something? Because you didn't say a word to me during our gossip sessions. And you better come back so we can have another one. It's been years!"

When Redleaf left the room, he was in tears, completely forgetting his resolve.

Mary walked into the room with an irritated face. She was worried greatly for her friend, and was irritated that she was putting her through this.

"Now Daina, what didIi say about almost dying?" Mary chastised. "Clarion almost went into depression the last time you almost died. We all almost did. You better not die this time, we still have so many years of teasing Clarion to make up for. Besides, I don't think Clarion could survive losing you forever"

Mary exited the room with her face softened, hating that she had to feel all this pain.

Hyacinth went in next. When he did, he felt confused. Confused as to why he cared so much for the fairy he supposedly hated.

"Why am I here?" Hyacinth began tentatively. "I don't know. Maybe it's possible that you've grown on me. All I know is that I don't want you to die. The thought of that scares me more than I thought. I would miss you and our stupid arguments terribly. So maybe do me a favour and don't die."

Hyacinth left the room. When he did, he no longer felt confused. Sure, he may not know what he felt towards Daina, but he did know that he didn't want her to die and that was a start.

Vidia went in hiding her tears. She would not let anyone see her cry.

"You are not dying" Vidia said with fire in her voice. "You are my best friend, the only one i have ever had, and if Morgana thinks that she can kill you, then she has another thing coming. Now hang on. Because I am finding a way to save you"

Vidia left crying openly. She no longer cared who saw her cry.

Clarion and Milori went in together.

At the sight of her sister's unmoving body, Clarion buried her face in Milori's chest and cried. Milori held her, crying as well. The pair sat there for at least an hour, seeking comfort from each other. Clarion couldn't take it anymore. she got up to leave.

"I'll be back sis" Clarion promised before she walked out the door.

Milori sighed. It hurt him to see both his lover and lover's sister like this. "Daina, we need you. I need your help. I need some advice"

Milori pulled out a ring box from his pocket. He had bought it weeks ago, but had no idea how to propose to Clarion.

"When you come back, I need your help to plan this proposal for your sister. And you will come back. No matter what"

"Milori!" Dewey yelled, throwing the door open and entering.

"What is it?" Milori asked.

"I think I found a way to save her" Dewey said excitedly before turning and exiting the room.

Milori followed quickly. As he rushed down the corridor, the others followed. They were filled with the one thing they needed: hope. they might save Daina. that was all it took for them to become strong once more. A single spark to light the flame.
