Benefits of Being the Master
-Harry-
Snarling, Harry pulled and strained against the restraints that held him down, the acrid smell of ritual candles filling his nose. Standing above him, he could hear Ron and Ginny chanting as they performed whatever ritual they'd found.
After the war had ended, he and Ginny had tried picking things back up, but they'd fizzled out, at least on his end, and he'd broken things off within the month. She'd been less than pleased, screaming at him over it and even letting slip how she apparently 'deserved' the money and status that came with the name 'Mrs. Potter'. The fallout had resulted in a massive fight with Ron who'd already been showing more and more signs of jealousy again. With the defeat of Voldemort, those who had led the fight were becoming famous, but Ron was upset that Harry was still getting more attention, no matter how much he didn't want it.
He'd cut them off two years ago but now here he was, having been attacked when he went to meet up with the other Weasleys for a dinner, finding them already dead, their blood used for a ritual circle. He'd been so shocked that Ron and Ginny had managed to hit him with a stunner from behind, the magic suppressing restraints already on him when he came to.
"And with this sacrifice, we claim what we deserve!" Ron and Ginny intoned together, "Rewrite the world to what it was meant to be!" as they shouted the last word, a ritual dagger was plunged into his chest. He'd barely felt the pain before he was in a void of white, seeing the Deathly Hallows in pristine condition floating in front of him.
"Hello, my Master." A soft melodic voice spoke up from behind as he turned to see a woman in a hooded black robe, the scythe in her hand and the words she'd said making it clear just who she was.
"Death." He sighed, "Not how I expected to go."
"Nor how you were meant to." Death shook her head, "But the corrupted souls rewrote reality, thus sending you to me."
"Corrupted?" Harry narrowed his eyes at that.
"While Voldemort's soul was gone, the effects of the malignant aura of his Horcruxes in many places remained." Death explained "You were strong enough to resist his effects, but not everyone was. Their exposure, pouring out their own insecurities while in contact with them, warped the souls of the two youngest Weasleys."
"…And the rewriting of reality?" Harry clenched his fist, furious about what had happened and that he hadn't noticed or even considered it a possibility.
"A ritual designed to rewrite reality. It is not one they should have had access to, but it's possible they made a deal with some other entity for the steps." Death answered his questions with ease "Ginevra wished for wealth and status. Ronald wished to 'be the Hero'. The ritual is changing your world to grant their wishes." The smirk she wore made him think of a proper Slytherin "But as you are my Master, I can…interfere, as it were. As long as the terms are technically honored, then what I aim to do cannot be stopped."
"The terms?" Harry had a feeling that Death was going to propose something that Sirius would consider 'a Grand Prank'.
"Ginevra wanted wealth and status, Ronald wished to be 'The Hero'." Death waved her hand a misty mirror appeared in the air, clearing up to reveal glimpses of a new world. Magic, and swords, and monsters, like something out of a fantasy novel muggles would read.
"The world that yours is being rewritten into has 'Skills' and 'Titles' in varying tiers. With how it was being prepared for Ronald Weasley, the highest tier is thought to be Platinum. The 'Demon Lord' and the 'Hero' and the ones with the highest rate of growth. As you are my master, I can put you as a rank above even 'The Hero'. You would even have your memories from this world, although I'm not sure how many would be of use in the new one."
"…Why?" Harry was on edge, all of this sounding too good to be true but nothing felt like a lie, "Should you be Happy that your 'master' was dying?"
"Oh, how naïve." Death laughed, sounding more amused than condescending "I created the Hallows, remember? I knew they had the power to make one my Master…as they were designed that way. I placed security measures on the items to ensure no one unworthy could claim all three. In fact it was quite similar to your old Headmaster's scheme with that Mirror. How did that old man put it? Only one who wished to find it, but not use it, would be worthy to get it?"
"…Something like that." Harry nodded warily.
"Well, you'll be waking up there soon. Now, do be a gentleman and try not to keep a lady waiting for too long." Death blew him a kiss, giggling at his red-faced gaping before he felt the sensation of falling as the void of white turned black.
AN: So yeah, a 'everyone has 'skills' world where Harry has a unique level even in that world. Death would be there too and the main pairing (got inspired partly by Oobidoobi's comics online about those two)
