Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!

Chapter 29: A Fresh Start? Part II

A few days later

Several days have passed since Mandie and Danny's last encounter as well as the beginning of their truce.

It was now Friday and life seemed to go on as Danny was undergoing yet another day at Casper High.

He was doing his best to get through the last day of the week but his mind was on a certain family member of his, rather than Lancer's totally boring lecture about Shakespeare.

"I sure hope that Dani is doing alright..."He thought as his thoughts went back to his little cousin/clone and how she might be doing right now.

As Frostbite promised, Dani was staying with Pandora and Danny knew that he could trust her to keep an eye on her. Like she said, underneath the anger issues, Pandora is very kind and he knew that she'd do everything to keep the girl safe.

Even better, Vlad still isn't back from his "vacation" in New Jersey.

Sure, he had to overshadow some town council members in order to convince them that the mayor went on vacation to explain his absence, just to keep people (especially, his dad) from looking for the creep.

Bad news, he knew that he'd eventually come back and would be mad. He spent about a week frozen solid the last time and it's bound to comeback and be even angrier than usual, just like the last time.

No doubt, the cheese head will be in a bad mood before thinking of something to either make himself look good to the public while making his life harder or making some new evil plan all together.

That'll be a pain but Danny will think of something to deal with him for good, someday.

"On the plus side, his sudden "vacation without notice", isn't helping his PR image..."He smirked, glad to ruin even just a bit of his enemy's political image.

"Mr. Fenton, pay attention!..."Mr. Lancer's stern voice said, snapping the ghost boy out of his thoughts.

"Oh, um...Sorry Mr. Lancer...I...uh...got distracted. What page did we leave off on again?..."Danny said while his classmates snickered.

"Page 80. Second paragraph..."The teacher said. "I suggest you start reading it..."He said sternly.

"Yes sir..."Danny said weakly.

"I also hope you've been taking the proper notes for the upcoming test. I'd suggest that you'd focus and write down what's written on the board for the sake of your grade point average ..."The balding teacher warned before going back to his lesson.

Danny sighed before crashing back to earth for schoolwork, just wanting to go on with his day without risking detention...again.

Later

After class, Danny managed to avoid detention...for once and even manage to avoid Dash by becoming invisible when the jock wanted to find him for failing another spelling quiz.

"Why am I still his favorite?..."Danny thought in annoyance as he phased through the walls.

Now, he was outside, away from the school building and bullies that wanted to stuff him into lockers. For a moment, he could have some peace, as long as ghosts didn't show up.

He is also alone.

Tucker was trying and failing to pick up girls again and Sam was making plan with some of her fellow protesters against some environmentally damaging building Vlad had made before his stunt at the Far Frozen, leaving him by himself for the moment.

No hunters...no Dash...no ghosts...and no purple-haired, war-mongering space princesses chasing after him to make him her groom.

"Ever since Mandie showed up, it almost makes me not want to be an astronaut...almost..."Danny thought as his mind went back to Mandie and their deal.

He still couldn't believe that he was fighting to keep Dani away from Vlad, with Mandie by his side.

It's been a few days since his last encounter with the alien princess and his decision to give her a chance...something Sam was against and she kept telling him it was a bad idea every chance she gets.

He could understand why she was against this, given what the alien princess had done in the past to him...Heck, a big part of him still wasn't ready to trust her, given what he had to deal with since that alien crash landed in his life...still...she did help him without knowing it.

"She's obsessed with me but she saved Danielle and she hates Vlad, so maybe she can change..."He thought, trying to be positive about this.

"Everyone needs a second chance, no matter who they are..."He reminded himself, remembering certain events. "Even a crazy, hot alien princess who wanted to force me to become her husband/king/ partner/slave..."He reminded himself, shuddering at what might have happened if the girl succeeded at first.

Mandie is crazy and dangerous...but she saved Dani without knowing she was connected to him, so he believes that deep down, she is capable of doing good. Maybe she just needed some guidance and all that other friendship junk to help her see that.

He knew that not everyone is a lost cause.

If there was anything that told him so, it was the memory of what almost became of him, a dark Phantom that had set out to destroy everything he loved. Clockwork gave him a chance to avoid becoming a monster, after all. It was one of the reasons Danny was willing to give Mandie a chance. After all, he gave himself a second chance and is doing better.

One chance though, that was it.

And granted, this development was coming rather late, but there was that better late than never saying. Not to mention it would mean one less enemy and one more ally.

The only thing left was how to be her friend.

"So, how to go about this?..."He mused as the thought about the alien girl and how crazy she invaded his life.

She was without a doubt the most gorgeous girl whose he's ever met, way hotter then Paulina and as tough as a T-Rex...those are the only things he admires about her. The problem was that she was impatient and came from a warrior race that liked fighting and violence too much, and it seems that challenging and then beating someone in a fight was how you proposed on her planet.

Not the ideal first meeting for him.

"What to do?..."The ghost boy thought before his ghost sense went off.

"Oh man, who is it now?..."He wondered.

"BEWARE!..."Was heard loudly nearby and the ghost boy groaned.

"Figures..."He muttered as he went to go change forms and get rid of a certain pest before he had to get back to class.

A few hours later

School was out and Danny and his friends were happy to be done with school and that the weekend has officially started.

The ghost boy was eager to get this time off started right. After all the craziness, he wanted something that would get his minds off things that didn't involve some random villain again.

"Okay, this weekend is gonna rock. I've already got everything planned out: video games, movie marathon and enough junk food for a food coma..."Danny said as he listed off the activities they could do to start off their weekend.

Unfortunately, Sam wasn't listening, keeping her head facing away. For the goth girl was still surly about her friend making that stupid so-called truce in the first place.

"How could he just forgive a girl that's trying to force him into marriage!? Hasn't she violated his privacy enough?!..."Sam thought in fury.

It's like Aragon all over again but without the politics. It was all lust and possessiveness. She's already kidnapped him and attacked him more than once...it's insane!

The jealous girl pondered on this as she stared at her friend, who was still lost in thought.

This weekend, she had to get through to the ghost boy about how wrong the choice he made was and ow he had to get rid of the alien menace.

One way or the other.

A little later

Danny and his friends soon arrived at Fenton Works. His parents were out hunting minor ghosts again and Jazz was at the library, leaving them alone for their video game match.

"Alright, let's start this weekend off right..."Danny said as he turned on his game council and pulling out a game, one called "DOOM III" that he has been dying to break in.

"I heard this one is better than the first!..."He said as he pulled the disc out and placed it inside the device.

"Gentlemen...and lady...let the battle begin..."Tucker said dramatically as he pressed the on button.

Suddenly a VERY loud crashing sound was heard, shaking the ground and shocking the three teenagers in the process.

'WHAT THE HECK?..."Tucker shouted.

"What did you do, Tucker?!..."Sam shouted, wondering if this is one of his stupid pranks.

"Me?! I didn't do anything!..."Tucker defended himself

Danny got up and immediately ran outside to see what that crash was.

"Are we under attack or something?!..."He said as he ran to his backyard.

However, before he could go ghost, he stopped in his tracks when he saw a crater in the grass, with any ornaments knocked over or destroyed, causing a huge mess that would require a lot of time to bury the hole again.

"What the heck?!..."He let out.

"What is it, Danny?..."Sam asked as she and Tucker went to join him, only to see what caught his attention.

Apparently, that loud crash was the result of what looked to be a large space rock in the middle of a crater in his backyard.

"Is that an asteroid?!..."Danny asked, not knowing whether to scream at the mess his dad might make him clean up or get excited in a space-geek manner.

Sam, however, grabbed the boy as he inched closer to the rock.

"Do you think that seems a little suspicious to you? It's either a bomb or this is some kind of sneak attack..."Sam said suspiciously.

"Sam...would you relax, this could be an a stray rock..."Danny said while she sent him a flat look.

"It's a possibility..."He said as he walked over and examined it.

He was also glad that no one got hurt by this and no one seemed to notice what happened.

Since explosions and weird stuff are common at Fenton Works, most of the neighbors don't even bother taking a look or reporting it anymore unless it affects their own property...a sign that the constant noise and weirdness from the Fenton property was being normalized.

"At least, I don't have to worry about social media or explaining this one to the cops..."Danny thought as he approached the crater and got a closer look at the space rock.

To his surprise, he saw every side of the asteroid was marked with some kind of writing. It looked like it was written in some sort of strange language and images too. There was also what looked to be a tablet to the side, with what looked like a screen on it.

"What the heck is this?..."He said before something unexpected happened.

Suddenly, a blue light shot from one of lights on the tablet, the light shone on him and started scanning his face .

"What the-..."Danny said as it started beeping.

"Selected identity confirmed, recipient found..."A voice was heard, a robotic one. "Greetings, Danny Phantom...You've got Meteor-Mail..."The strange rock announcer voice said.

Danny blinked in confusion as he registered what the rock said.

"Who sends a space rock as mail?..."He questioned as he soon got his answer when the screen went blank with static and another face appeared on the screen.

It was Mandie.

"Is this how people send mail on her planet?..."Danny thought as the girl spoke.

"Hello, Danny Phantom. All is well on Boudacia. Today, father and I hunted for some Glorbark beast that went successful and then I proceeded to debone it and keep the skeleton as a trophy. After that, my family and I had roasted Poultra for dinner and discuss the minor progress we made of mapping out this galaxy..."Mandie said in tone like she was talking about the weather.

Danny tried to respond to her before he realized this was a recording and not a video message.

"Okay, I have no idea what a Poultra even is, yet I feel peeved that they roasted it..."Sam said, her arms crossed.

"Shush..."Danny told her as he tried to listen to the rest of this message, curious about why Mandie basically destroyed part of his backyard to send a video.

"But enough pleasantries... I wanted to let you know since tomorrow is a day fo rest for your people, I plan to visit you tomorrow, as part of our agreement...as friends..."Mandie said, saying the last part in a hinting way.

"I look forward to seeing you again, Phantom. Goodbye for now..."Mandie's recording said before blowing him a kiss, smiling before signing off.

The message ended and left the trio in a daze of swirling teenage emotions. Danny was blushing and looking uncomfortable, Sam was seething and her fists were shaking and Tucker looked envious but worried.

"At least, she's trying to give a heads up..."Danny thought, trying to force the blush on his face to go away.

"That conniving little-..."Sam thought, furious enough to break something.

"Man, why does he get a hot alien warrior princess interested in him? That's my fantasy..."Tucker thought, a little bitter.

Despite the different reactions, the trio was concerned about the impending arrival of the new reforming, yet not fully trusted, Mandie tomorrow.

"Well, I guess I have plans tomorrow..."Danny said until noticed something. "At least, she let me know ahead of time..."He said, realizing that Mandie did keep her promise to him.

Sam looked at him like the boy dropped several IQ points.

"Danny, that space case just caused your parents to repair your entire backyard and she was totally flirting with you and is coming for you. Even you can't be that clueless to miss it. You can't seriously be telling me that you're actually thinking about going out on a date with her tomorrow!?..."Sam said, her tone raving mad.

"It's not a date, Sam. Mandie and I are in a truce and we're trying to see if we can be friends..."Danny said, backing away slowly from the angry goth.

"That's not how she sees it and you know it. You know that she still wants to marry you for your powers and to have your potentially super-powered children to conquer Earth..."Sam pointed out, still angry.

Danny sighed as he knew Mandie still had feelings for him and he wasn't exactly looking forward to whatever romantic gestures that she'd likely make all day...but he made a promise to try and give her a chance at redemption.

"Sam, I completely get where you're coming from, but I made my point with her clear...we agreed to hang out and I promised to let her come as long as she didn't try anything funny..."He said, sticking to his promise.

"You're unbelievable, Danny..."Sam said as she shook her head.

"You had to be there! You weren't there when she helped me! Giving her a second chance and the benefit of the doubt for saving Danielle's life is the least I own her! If it were someone you care for, you'd do the same!..."Danny said as the two began to argue over the matter.

Tucker saw this and sighed.

"When is she just gonna tell him her feelings and be done with it?..."Tucker thought, knowing the real reason Sam is so against it.

He also knew that she is too stubborn and prideful to just be honest with her feelings and would rather keep quiet, making this entire ordeal even more painful than it needs to be.

The tech geek sighed as he settled for playing on his PDA while his friends kept arguing with each other about Mandie...again.

Later

Danny and Sam argued for almost an hour before the goth left in a huff, not believing Danny would honor his deal. Tucker also went home since he was both hungry and not interested in watching this, leaving the ghost boy by himself.

He took the space rock and hid it in the OP center and hid it under a bunch of discarded old gadgets before his parents came home, mostly because he wasn't in the mood to even begin to explain what and why that thing was here...and also because he still found it kinda neat to have, even if it was kinda destructive given how it arrived in his backyard.

"Leave it to Mandie to send an email in the most destructive way possible..."Danny thought, finding it kinda funny.

He already had a good cover story for when his parents get home and ask about the large crater in their back yard...he'd blame it on another ghost and they'd believe it. They probably aren't ready to accept aliens, anyway.

Still, he had to get rid of this space rock before anyone finds it or his parents and everyone in town would go nuts if they find out about the aliens...or that one wants to date him.

"I wish I knew how this thing works, then maybe I could respond and tell her not to send these...or how to make this thing do softer landings..."He thought, making a mental note to ask Mandie how this rock-email thing works when she gets here tomorrow.

"Tomorrow?..."He thought as he scratched his chin, mentally prepare himself for any surprises she might have in store.

Tomorrow is Saturday and Mandie is gonna show up...and unlike her past visits, she isn't going to ambush him with intents to hunt him down and drag him to the alter...at least, he hopes that's the case.

"I gotta give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that she listens. She might be nuts but she saved Dani's life. I owe her that much at least..."Danny thought as sat looked up at the sky.

The ghost boy sighed as he continued to fly and clear his mind, mentally preparing himself for what tomorrow may bring.

All he knew was that if it involves that alien princess, anything and everything could happen...he just hopes it doesn't end with more kidnappings or broken bones.

1) No character bashing (or at least nothing extreme), no political or religious references and do not change the character's personality unless you already established the reasons and enough development to warrant it.

2) Yeah.

3) I take a break, relax and look for some inspiration.

4) I'd say the comedic and romantic parts of the story are the easiest parts.

5) Not understanding both series enough to keep them in character.
