Chapter 41: Visits II
After having lunch, which Danny paid for, he and Mandie stepped out and he began to show her more sights of Amity Park.
The alien girl was in a blissful mood as the ghost boy kept trying to show her more about "normal earth teen culture". However, Mandie requested to head back to her ship to retrieve something she forgot and now they were there, she asked Danny to wait outside the spacecraft while she went to receive the item.
She came back, carrying something.
"What's that?..."Danny asked.
"Sorry, this is the charger for my sword..."Mandie said, making the boy raise his eyebrow.
"You...charge your sword?..."Danny questioned, confused.
"Well, yeah. What? You thought this thing never needs batteries or just runs on pure battle rage?..."Mandie asked, as if he said a silly questioned. "Anyway, my sword still has plenty of power but I never like leaving without this, just in case..."She said as she placed the item in one of her dress pockets.
Danny decided to take her word for it and shrugged as he saw her pat the pocket she placed her weapon in. Soon, the super-powered teens began talking again.
"So, what do you wanna do? Let me guess, you want me to marry you only for me to say there's a limit of wishes?..."Danny asked.
Mandie chuckled like a child, smiling at the ghost boy. He had come to know her very well.
"Tempted, but right now, I want a spar..."Mandie said, readying her blade.
"A spar?..."Danny questioned and Mandie nodded.
"Yes, fighting those ghosts earlier was invigorating but I want to try and test myself against a real opponent: you. So if you would..."Mandie said, taking a stance.
She turned off her fake-i-fier for a moment and was now in her base form. She held her flaming sword high with a predatory gaze.
Danny looked at the girl, surprised that his first guess was wrong. He thought he knew the girl, but smiled at the turn of events.
"Alright..."Danny agreed, making her smile more.
A few moments later
Danny and Mandie went to a more open spot in the woods, away from potential witnesses and to make sure neither caused damage to her ship.
They were both staring at each other, about to start.
"Don't think this means I'll marry you when I win..."Danny said as he glowed his fist with ecto-charge.
"After all the easy victories, I relish the chance at possibly losing..."Mandie said as she charged at Danny with her sword in her hand.
"I see... well then, prepare for losing..."Danny said as he dodged her.
"I should be saying that to you. Just don't make this easy for me..."Mandie ordered, though there was some playfulness in her tone.
"I never do..."Danny chuckled as he then proceeded to dodge and avoid Mandie's punches and kicks.
"Neither do I..."She said, determined.
The alien princess then began to attack again, using both her sword and fists while the ghost boy managed to use both his powers and reflexes to block her.
"Still as quick as ever..."Mandie thought, impressed as she brought a hand down, but the ghost boy blocked, crossing his wrists as he grinned smugly.
That was met with a leg sweep tripping him as the girl brought her practice sword down on him. Danny rolled out of the way, flipping up before constructing an ice staff. The two fueled with their weapons in the exercise, not letting the other gems in the advantage.
"Looks like someone's been practicing…"Danny said, pushing forward with his supernatural strength.
"Well, a girl's gotta stay in shape. And what better way than to spar with the a worthy opponent?…"Mandie replied.
"You mean, someone who's beaten you already…"Danny couldn't resist pointing out.
Mandie smirked at Danny's smug attitude, pushing back with more force than before, the ghost boy was startled as he pushed back.
"Quite..."She said, grinning in an almost savage kind of way as they continued to trade blows.
This spar continued for a few minutes and the ghost boy felt strangely warm and comfortable for some reason.
"Normally, I'd want to get away from some hot and crazy girl trying to kick my butt...but I think I'm actually having some fun here..."He thought, as he kept dodging and countering Mandie.
The alien princess, on the other hand, seemed to really be having fun here and couldn't stop herself from saying the following.
"You're still as spirited as ever, Darling. You really know how to keep a girl on her toes..."Mandie quipped as she managed to avoid a kick from him.
Danny smirked, even if he wasn't sure how to take that.
"Thanks..."He said, deciding to say something too.
"You know, in the right light, you look...pretty tough with that battle face..."Danny dodged a slash from the flaming blade, flipping over as he grabbed the girl by the head and threw her over his shoulder.
Mandie crashed into a wall, but it was not enough to defeat her.
"Thank you for the compliment!..."The girl said as she cracked her neck, running forward with vigor.
She struck again to miss as the ghost boy disappeared.
"And I must say, beyond your fighting prowess, your quips are quite enjoyable. It gives a more...personal touch to these encounters..."She complimented as he reappeared.
"You really mean that?..."Danny reappeared with a smile as he avoided another kick from her.
Mandie gave a sultry look as she turned with her sword on her shoulder. The ghost boy blushed as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Sorry. It's just nice to have my quips appreciated..."He said, since it's not often he finds people who enjoy that.
"Well, it's not really news...since part of the reason I chose you in the first place was because of how spirited you could be, even in battle.."Mandie said, smirking as she winked at him.
The ghost boy blushed deeper as the alien princess continued to speak.
"But don't think that means I will LET you win so easily...or at all!..."She said, giving him a fanged smile.
"When do you ever let me win at something?..."Danny quipped as he kept dodging her attacks.
This continued for a few minutes and Mandie seemed to be having the time of her. She didn't even bother to pick up her sword, which is now on the ground and inactive. For some reason, she chose to keep going on with punches and kicks, so Danny did the same.
"Impressive. I must say, this is much more enjoyable than our last battle..."Mandie said, her expression going from competitive to playful.
Danny sent her a mild smile as he blocked a kick from her and punched her again, forcing her to hit a nearby tree. Not enough to seriously hurt her, but enough to get her attention.
"Thank you. I'm glad to make your losses better..."He said, sending her a playful smirk.
Mandie frowned, but sent him a determined look.
"You're mine!..."She said, charging at him again.
"I already told you, baby steps..."Danny joked as he prepared for her.
She leaped at Danny again, who managed to dodge this time and soon the two of them were once again punching and kicking each other, trying to totally dominate the other.
"I gotta admit, this is kinda hot. If only she weren't so evil at the start..."Danny thought, pushing back his hormones to focus on the fight.
"What a man~..."Mandie thought, both smitten and even more determined as they kept sparring for a long while.
Danny was starting to sweat a bit due to all of this while Mandie slowly formed a grin on her face as she kept fighting with Danny, being amazed that he was still this persistent, challenging her and pushing her to her limits.
"He's even better than I remember. Oh, Danny~..."She thought, feeling thrilled and infatuated as she kept dodging his blasts and blows.
It made her face feel warm from growing interest. Even Danny was starting to feel himself feeling the same as he eyed the girl during their friendly battle. Their fighting continued for a long time, both either dodging, blocking, kicking, punching and scratching each other, until Danny had enough.
"For someone with no ghost powers, you sure put up a fight..."Danny commented.
"Flattering won't work here, Darling..."Mandie teased as she kept trying to land a hit.
Danny, however, decided to end this here.
"Well, I think it's time to end things here..."He said as he rushed forward and got a hold of her, making Mandie squeal a bit as he pinned her to the ground.
The end result was both teens were on the ground now, looking at each other's eyes and panting heavily, neither speaking for a moment until the following happened.
"Looks like I win..."Danny said.
"Looks like it..."Mandie said, blushing deeper than before.
Their eyes locked, not looking away for anything. The two would not have noticed if anyone came along, too distracted with each other. Part of Madie hoped he'd kiss her right there and then.
The two unique teens were now panting heavily and sweating, both looking into each other's eyes as Danny pinned her. The girl did everything to keep her emotions under control. She could barely contain her excitement while the ghost boy took a moment to realize how long it was going on.
Danny, after realizing what he was doing, cleared his throat as he made a little distance between them.
"That...was...thrilling..."Mandie said, panting hard and having a a strange and awed look on her face as she stared at Danny.
The ghost boy noticed this and blushed before scratching the back of his head.
"S-Sure...very...thrilling..."He said as they decided to take a few moments as a breather break, mostly to recover from whatever that was just now.
Still, the ghost boy couldn't help but make a comment.
"Have I ever told you how much I actually like fighting you now that you're not trying to marry me?…" Danny said, getting up.
"Oh, I still intend to marry you one day…"Mandie said as she cracked her neck. "I just agree with you on taking things slow…"She said, in a half serious, half teasing sort of way.
"Alright. Alright. You can tone down on the flirting Mandie, keep those thoughts to yourself and let's get to this practice fight once I'm all ready…"Danny said, trying not to think too much of what she just said.
"You mean the fun part. How's that not flirting?…"Mandie teased, trying VERY hard not to give into her urges and run over to him and smother him in kisses right here and now.
"Stay cool, Mandie! You don't wanna scare him off again!..."She thought, trying REALLY hard to keep her feelings and hormones under control, which is very, VERY hard to do, but she somehow managed.
"I can wait..."She said, trying to stay calm.
The ghost boy playfully rolled his eyes, before realizing what he is doing and with whom.
"I gotta admit, she's kinda cute when she's not stalking me..."He thought, cracking his knuckles.
"So, ready for round two?..."Mandie asked, sounding eager for more.
"Just a minute..."Danny said, cracking his back too.
However, their spar...and fun was cut short when his ghost sense went off.
"Uh, time out Mandie...I...kinda got some ghost business to take care of..."Danny said, causing the alien girl to stop.
"Aw, come on..."Mandie complained but complied. "Now, where is the fool who dares interrupt our thrilling sparring session?..."She asked, ticked.
She received a blast as her answer, one that nearly hit the both of them.
"What the heck?!..."Danny said.
"Who dares?!..."Mandie said, snarling and her eyes briefly glowing red over the "mood killer", hating that her fun was over.
Danny looked up and saw who sent it.
"Skulker!..."Danny shouted.
"Greetings, Whelp. I saw you both fighting and I thought, hey, why I don't I fight you instead?..."He said, sending a smug look to the ghost boy.
Danny glared at him and Mandie looked to the unfamiliar figure with a scowl.
"Who are you and how dare you interrupt our sparring session?!..."Mandie yelled, her hair nearly igniting due to her rage.
Skulker rubbed his chin. He eyed Mandie and smirked once more.
"So, the rumors are true. You have come across an alien that's romantically interested in you..."He said, thinking it be interesting to add an alien to his collection. "I think you will be a very nice addition back home..."He said, smirking darkly.
"I am not interested in you, I have a better choice in mind..."Mandie said, misinterpreting what he said.
"Don't flatter yourself, I meant taking you home as a trophy!..."He said, shrugging playfully.
Mandie heard this and glared before turning to her beloved.
"Darling, before I tear this fool limb from limb, exactly who is he?..."She asked, barely controlling herself.
"This is Skulker, he thinks he's the best hunter in the ghost zone but he's just a pain with guns..."He said.
"Aw, so...you won't mind if I pulverize him, would you?..."Mandie said, gripping her sword in anticipation.
"Sure, go ahead..."Danny said, while Skulker looked insulted.
"Don't underestimate me, I am the greatest hunter for a reason and my new suit is going to remind you of that!..."He shouted as he fired missiles at them.
Mandie responded by sending a plasma blast from her sword, which made the missiles explode before they got within several feet of them.
"Nice one..."Danny commented.
"Thank you..."Mandie said, smiling at his praise before sending a vicious look to Skulker.
"Now, let's thrash this metal foe!..."Mandie shouted as she charged at Skulker.
Danny did the same and the two unique teens then approached their ghostly opponent.
"So what's so new about this suit, Skulker? It looks the same level ugly. You installed a bathroom or something?..." Danny asked jokingly.
"Actually, yes, I did..."The ghost said.
Danny's face dropped the smile.
"Wait, I was kidding... you just now installed a bathroom?..."He questioned.
"I mean, I have weaponry, but yes..." Skulker admits sheepishly.
"So... what the heck were you doing all the other times? Holding it in?..."He asked, surprised.
"Well-..."Skulker paused while a certain alien got annoyed.
"We're going off topic here!..." Mandie shouted, reminding the two males that they are suppose to be in battle right now.
"Oh, right... speaking of new weapons, look what I have! Nets that can nullify your power for at least two minutes!..."Skulker said, pointing at Danny.
"I...really rather not see that feature..."Danny said, getting a bad feeling about this.
"Too bad, whelp!..."The evil hunter said with a smirk.
"AAAGHHH!..." Danny said as the net shocked him.
"DANNY!..."Mandie shouted in shock and even worry.
Danny was shocked but seemed to recover, used to attacks like this...which the evil hunter noticed.
"Hmm... he still has some strength left. One more should do the trick..."Skulker said, infuriating Mandie even more.
"YOU!..."She snarled as she watched her new foe aim at her beloved again.
Skulker then tried to use one of his net launchers and tried to fire at Danny, only for Mandie to slice the net into pieces with her sword.
Danny saw this and smiled.
"Thanks..."He said, appreciating it.
Mandie blushed at that.
"No problem, just trying to help..."She said, bashful.
Skulker saw this and rolled his eyes.
"Will you two stop with the annoying interactions and let me hunt?!..."He criticized.
Mandie's hair turned to flames in anger, she snarled at Skulker.
"You dare to challenge me and attempt to harm who I desire to be Boudacia's next king?!..."She snapped.
"Interesting, you have some unique hair mutation...and you're alien royalty to boot. You will be a very interesting addition to my collection..."Skulker said arrogantly, infuriating Mandie even more.
"Collect this!..."She shrieked as she charged at him in anger.
Mandie sent a powerful kick to Skulker's head and to her surprise, his head went flying and hitting a nearby tree.
The alien princess even seemed to be shocked by this. Sure, she is no stranger to violence but she honestly wasn't expecting this.
"Whoa...I didn't mean to go that far...sorta..."Mandie said since she didn't put that much force to BEHEAD someone but Danny shook his head.
"Don't worry, Skulker's fine...sorta..."Danny said as he went to where Skulker's head was.
He then picked it up and took something out that was within it. A little green blob that was kicking and screaming.
"Let me go, I am Skulker, the great hunter of them all!..."The little blob yelled, failing his little arms around.
Mandie's jaw dropped and her expression resembled that of a human that saw her for the first time. She then remembered what Skulker did and her anger returned.
"Are you kidding me?! This little blob dared to challenge us?!..."She said, actually looking insulted right now.
"I am NOT a blob! I am the greatest hunter of all the ghost zone. You WILL fear me!..."Skulker shouted in a high pitch voice, sounding no different than the box ghost at this point.
Mandie frowned.
"Well, I am the greatest warrior of the Boudacian empire and this is the boot of a REAL warrior! You toad!..."She said as she made it clear about the VAST size and power difference between them in their REAL forms.
Danny did nothing as he watched Mandie stomp on Skulker like he was nothing compared to her, which isn't exactly untrue in hindsight.
A few moments later
After Mandie took a couple of minutes to clobber Skulker, she finally stopped.
"What a waste of time..."She complained.
"Well, I disagree..."Danny said and in less than a minute, the little blob ghost was bruised, dazed and in pain.
"And I thought Ember could be moody..."The injured Skulker said before passing out.
With Skulker now down and his suit in shambles, Danny wasted no time in sucking him inside the thermos. Mandie still looked annoyed by the whole thing.
"I can't believe such a little weakling caused us so much trouble...he doesn't even have any real power, just a poorly made suit to fight his battles. How pathetic..."She said, not impressed at all.
"Well, Skulker has always been compensating for something. I'll let you decide what it is..."Danny said, mocking his enemy.
"I HEARD THAT!..."Skulker's tiny voice could be heard within the thermos.
"You were meant to..."Danny said, mocking his foe even more.
Despite her annoyance, Mandie found herself laughing and soon Danny joined her.
"Well, as irritating as this Skulker foe was, at least we managed to have a decent workout..."Mandie said, since she did manage to break a sweat from that battle.
"That's one way to look at it. Though, I'd prefer not having to deal with him period..."Danny admitted.
"I can see why, since he fights dirty and actually had the nerve to cut your power off with that net. How cowardly..."Mandie said, not impressed at all.
"Yeah, well...Skulker never has been known to play fair...neither have my other foes. I got used to it..."Danny said with a shrug.
"Like you're getting used to me?..." She asked with fluttering eyelashes.
Danny shook his head.
"Maybe..."He said, shrugging.
Mandie giggled and decided to keep this playful interaction with him some more.
"So, what shall we do now? My mighty warrior?..."Mandie asked, sending him a flirtatious look again.
Danny blushed and tried to avoid eye contact with her at that moment as he kept speaking.
"Well, you helped me take down Skulker and even saved me from getting captured in a net. So, I take it that you want something, like me saying yes to marrying or having kids..."Danny said, half-jokingly. "If so, let me remind you of our agreement and that we are still minors here on earth..."He added, making the alien girl playfully pout before continuing.
"Well, if you won't marry me already, I think the least you can do is take me out on a real date for once and not just outings..."Mandie said, arms crossed.
She said it in a playful, joking way but the response that she got from the ghost boy was unexpected.
"Okay..."Was all he said.
