Chapter 34: Joy and Sorrow.

Smoke's armour vanished in an instant, ever since he'd made the mistake of telling his girls how to get the armour off him in an emergency by using his handprints to unlock it he was no longer safe inside it, well not from them anyway.

As the shuttle touched down Jack and Tik stepped to the front, "Honour guard form up!" Jack called and every Hunter, Seeker, Saviour and even Battle Angels formed up on the coffins, six to a coffin.

"Raise up!" Tik yelled and the coffins were hoisted up to shoulder height, the guards being height matched.

"Link arms!" Ryan called and every single one of them linked arms below the coffins and brought their other up to hold the handrails on the sides, each of the coffins had been draped in a flag that not only depicted the symbol of Clan Mason but the symbol of the branch of the Guardian core that the owner belonged to, it was also in that branch's colours.

The ramp began to lower slowly and they saw people gathered to welcome them home, "Forwards march!" Liam yelled and the group began to slowly descend the ramp carrying the fallen to their final rest.

No sooner had Jack and Tik descended the ramp with Jack on V'Lek's coffin then he spied a group of familiar faces at the front of the crowd and Jack's heart twisted in his chest like a knife was being twisted inside it, it was Amy and her cubs.

No sooner had she locked eyes with Jack her face froze solid, at that moment he knew that she knew exactly who was in the coffin he was carrying, a silent sorrow passing between them as her hand raised up to cover her mouth and the tears began to flow as she took hold of her eldest and hugged them tightly to her.
