After a night of sleeping in shifts, I then got up early and spoke to Terri and Terry, telling them that I had to test something out at the door production class before anyone else got there. They sounded scared, but I told them I'd use precautions to make sure nobody saw me and that I wouldn't actually go through the door. I then told them the reason as to why I wanted to do this.
"I've made a perfect replica of the door I arrived to this world in, it belonging to my little sister. I'm going to say hello to her and give her the rundown of everything that's happened so far," I said, the brothers nodding at me as I then went to the testing room of the facility and proceeded to check around for cameras, making sure I was invisible with my camouflage while doing so. No cameras anywhere. I then went into the testing room, and I saw a single camera up on the corner, me then going to it and placing the cap onto it without being seen. I then proceeded to set up the door while locking the entry, me then turning it on and opening it, setting it to a day after I'd been sent through it, the time being 8 at night, her usual bedtime. I then opened the door, seeing that little Ingrid was getting tucked in by Patrick, the duo looking at me in shock, almost like they couldn't believe what they were seeing.
"B-Barri? Is it really you?" Patrick asked.
"Yep, it is," I smiled at him. And my little sister looked at me with big eyes of wonder, her then going to me and giving me a big hug.
"Barri... I was so scared! I thought... I thought I'd lost you to the monsters!" she cried, me smiling at her hug as I kept the door half cracked.
"It's okay, Ingrid... I had to stay in the monster world so I could protect not only you, but a lot of kids," I said, which Patrick spoke up after.
"So... Monsters Inc is real, then? In the future, or something?" he asked, me nodding.
"I can only assume that the world started to turn into the world of Wall-E at some point, then the humans came back to the planet before then getting turned into monsters via radioactivity... and Waternoose was in the process of stealing kids for their screams as far back as before Monsters University's plot... and I managed to make a perfect door replica to meet with you while delaying the scare siphoning," I smiled.
"But... then what does that mean for you, then? Are you just going to stay there?" Ingrid asked, me sighing at her.
"I promise that I'll meet with you as many times as I can, but it won't be every night. I just need to sneak my meetings with you, since the other monsters would probably send me to another place entirely if I got banished, even another time, if they so chose... I'm going to need to check something now," I said as I then looked outside of the door and saw that the place was still silent, me then knowing I had to be careful and get out as soon as possible, since five minutes had passed by and the cameras would be checked eventually. "I'm going to need to get back, now. I promise to come back every so often, okay, guys?" I smiled.
"No... d-don't go... take me with you, please?" Ingrid said with tears in her eyes, me sighing at her.
"They'd detain you the moment they saw you, since you look almost exactly human enough to be detained by the CDA... until I can get through the events of Monsters Inc, this is just how it needs to be, okay, Ingrid?" I said, her sniffing at me before giving me another hug.
"I love you, sis... please, help the other kids, too... I'll miss you," she sniffed, me nodding as I hugged her back before then exiting the door and turning it off, only then resulting in the camera to finally start moving to try and get the cap off of it, me making sure the door shrunk back to tiny form before then turning invisible camouflage and grabbing the cap before then exiting the room before the camera could look at the door. I then stayed invisble, hiding my cap in my mouth as I rushed the whole way back to the dorms, just in time to see one thing. Randal was right at the front door of the dorms and had a nasty glare on his face, him only having his head visible while the rest was invisible.
"Once she walks out of that house, I'm gonna get her good," Randal said, me frowning at him as I then poked him from behind and he instinctively looked over his shoulder, me making sure only my one hand was visible as I then waved hi to him before then grabbing him with the invisible hand, him gagging as I then slammed him to the ground.
"And how, pray tell, will you get her good, Randy Boggs?" I asked him with my voice being a deep grumble, Randal looking to be scared as he then grabbed something on his person with one of his many arms, it being a weird scanner of sorts. Before he could use it, I grabbed the arm and slammed it into the ground until it dropped, me looking at it and seeing that it was a scanner... for detecting human DNA. And it said CDA on the side of it. "I'll ask this once, Randal, and I expect an honest answer. How did you find out?" I asked, him growling at me.
"You really need to watch where you talk to people about that stuff, you know?" he snickered back, me then growling as I then looked him in the eyes with my face becoming visible with a deep glare, which Randal gulped in fear.
"If anyone finds out that truth, I'll simply save my ass by revealing the truth. And since you aren't getting killed by poison, you know very well what that truth is, don't you?" I growled, him frowning at me.
"Adult humans aren't poisonous, idiot. Only the kids are," he snarled at me.
"UGH! How could I be human? Do I look it? I don't know WHERE you heard that from, but I can say this much to you. I am NOT, repeat, N O T! A human. I am a monster," I said, him growling at me as I then snapped the scanner into bits after, him gasping at that.
"That cost 590 dollars, you creetin!" he growled.
"It's pronounced cretin. And I don't care. Maybe you should've thought about that before spreading rumors when it was your frat that broke campus rules and tried to embarrass a group of monsters just because they want to prove themselves. If it weren't for you being able to turn invisible, you'd NEVER have been accepted to ROR. They find your uniqueness as just an entertainment, not a strength," I growled, him frowning at me as I then spoke to him after throwing him to the lawn. "And if you think I'm lying, ask them yourself, hiding if need be. They want to know fear? Scare them as good as I did to Johnny, and they'll spill the beans for sure. Now GET OFF OF MY LAWN!" I shouted as I then kicked him with my literal big foot and he ended up soaring through the air about 20 feet before slamming into the ground of ROR's campus. "Hah! New record!" I smiled.
"I'd say the field goal was a success," said the voice of Narleen, who opened the door to reveal that she and the others were watching the whole time behind the door.
"How much of that did you see?" I smiled at them.
"Enough to know that we need to be on our toes," Don admitted, me nodding as I then saw that the mail had came, me going to it and seeing that our next challenge would happen tomorrow morning, and that we had to choose our applicant as to who would be the human child and that we'd be up against PNK for the toxic child chase.
"Aha, the next event happens sooner rather than later," I smiled as I then spoke the rules. "The kid isn't scared, they want to touch your skin. Don't let it touch you, or death's countdown will begin. And it says we have to apply at the kiosk for the Scare Games as to who will be our member for the child," I said, which I looked at Squishy and he then moved as fast as the eye could blink from Sully over to me. "And Squishy is the one that will lead us to victory. Don't let me down, soldier," I smiled, him smirking at that and nodding as we then applied at the Scare Games and that Squishy would be the child, which Brock smirked at.
"You guys are getting the big numbers placed on ya! They say it's gonna come down to SCP and OK for the final round, and the school thinks that your group may actually take home the gold," Brock smiled at me.
"Haha, finally, they see us as tough contenders!" Art smiled widely.
"And Squishy will lead us to victory in the child touch portion. Trust me, he's quick," I smiled, which got Claire smirking widely.
"I've seen his strengths in the Sewer race and in the sneaking challenge. He's super fast when he needs to be, and he barely makes a sound. Surely a great contender for scaring, especially if he does the execution well enough," Claire smiled, which Squishy then proceeded to use his new and improved strength that we ended up discovering during the sleeping shifts. He proceeded to turn his face inside-out, which actually caused Claire to gasp before getting a wide grin.
"HAHA! That's what I'm talking about!" Brock laughed out loud as Squishy then reformed his face back to normal.
"Proof that little guys do, indeed, have big bites," Terry smiled widely.
After that happened, we then spent another day of training for the avoid the toxic child, as well as training for the Scare Simulator, which everyone was now definitely ready for. And we also learned that, due to Hardscrabble finding discarded booze at ROR's frat, she was having the lot of them kicked out of the scaring program and that they were not to join in it ever again! Three of the members of ROR actually left the campus entirely after that, those being the crab guy, the snake guy, and Spike! All the others grumbled and joined the other classes at the school for the up and coming second semester, but it just meant we had to be triple careful, in case the remaining members tried to get on ANY of our bad sides!
And then, we did the toxic touch challenge. Our group managed to survive the longest of the three teams, with PNK getting eliminated within the first minute by Squishy! As for the one chasing us in the challenge, it was actually Ursa, who was using her shapeshifting strengths to try and change into different fast monsters from my mind to try and attack, one of them being Woormy Charles from Spooky's dollhouse DLC and another being a Wheeler from Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia, which was a zombie without legs, but in a wagon that could go super fast.
Regardless, after that happened, we were then given the rundown by Brock. "You've gone through the gauntlet, passing all the tests! The Scare Simulator will prove who's the best! Tomorrow you guys are going to prove your scaring potential in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL! And since Oozma Kappa lasted the longest in this challenge, they get to choose who they will compete against and the order of the monsters they'll compete with!" Brock said, me smiling widely at that. A massive boon if there ever was one!
"Dang, robbed. If not for your surprising speed, we'd have lasted longer than SCP," Carrie smiled at Squishy.
"Hey, it was actually neck and neck for us, too! We were so close to victory, but we were off by five seconds," Voicebox admitted, which was actually true. I was the last of my group to be caught by Ursa, but PNK managed to have Naomi tag all of SCP's members five seconds before I was caught, ironically from Ursa shifting into the only thing that could actually scare me to the point I had no idea how to counter, that being the beast known as Nightmare from FNAF 4!
"Well, regardless, enjoy it while it lasts. We're going to give it our all in the simulator! We've almost beaten ROR at least thrice before in the finals. You gotta use your scares at the highest setting, so I'd get to training in all stats as soon as possible," said Dapper, who was actually named Slenma Manson, which made me smirk at how it sounded so close to Slenderman.
"You bet we're going to try our hardest! Mike and Coco have been training us since day one," Sully smiled proudly. And then, I saw that Harsdcrabble was looking at us and then smiling, me then going to her and smirking.
"Hey, Miss Hardscrabble," I said, her looking at me. "No matter what happens tomorrow, we played a good game, right?" I smiled at her.
"Tomorrow, you will need to prove you are the scariest monsters on the campus. And I know for a fact that one of you is not," she said, looking at Mike, me frowning at her.
"You're STILL hung up about that? You know what? I'll prove that Mike is the best of our team. One more bet to seal the deal," I said, which she smirked at.
"Oh, really? And what would that be?" she asked, me smiling as I then whispered it to her.
"This is a secret one, tell nobody about it, got it?" I said, her nodding at me. "Mike will be the last one for the Scare Simulator test. If he manages to get the highest score of all of our group, then not only will you accept everyone of our group into the Scare Program, but you will also do something else. Step down as dean of the school," I said, her eyes going wide at that, which she looked at me with a glare. "Maybe then you'll learn that size and looks aren't everything. And if Mike doesn't make the highest score? Then you're allowed to do whatever you want to me and me alone. Done deal?" I said, her frowning at me.
"Fine, you are on. And if your bet fails to succeed, then you will not only leave Monsters University, you will be sent back to that filthy human world you call home," she whispered back, me gasping at that. Her then smirking widely at me. "You didn't really think that was the only camera in there, did you?" It was then that I realized that this HAD to be a setup. Someone MUST have known I was going to the door room that night. So I then asked her one more question.
"Who told you? Who told you this?" I frowned at her.
"Hmph. I suspected something was amiss when you stayed after class late at night in that room, slaving over a door that you weren't allowed to make. I simply had assistance from a member of ROR to video everything that happened in there. And no, it wasn't Randal," she said, me frowning at that angrily.
"You know what? Fine. I made my own grave, and thus, I will throw the gauntlet down six feet under. You, Hardscrabble, have a goddamn deal," I growled as I then handshook her, which she smirked at. "And by the way, humans aren't toxic. Ask Waternoose, he'll tell you more," I whispered to her, which she frowned at.
"I had a feeling when you hugged that mixed breed," she said, me smacking my face at that. "Hmph. Don't mess with me, I won't mess with you," she said, me frowning at her as she then flew off into the sky and I looked at my teammates with a forced smile. They didn't need to know a thing. Mike had improved so well, he was probably the second-best scarer on our team, second only to Sully and Narleen, them being a tie. And thus, I needed to evaluate my options. Sully would probably NOT cheat at the games, and I didn't want to play unfairly either. So I had to make sure that nothing awry happened at the scare games, lest something bad happen.
