Chapter 61: Festival of Flowers.
Ketra led the two humans through the town towards the temple of the divines and as she did they started to notice a lot of Beledon dressed in long flowing gowns in bright vibrant colours and they seemed to be wearing long flowing flower boas around their necks along with coiled ropes that looked like they were made of vines that were woven together and threaded with a rainbow of coloured flowers that were wrapped around their tails.
"What's going on?" Jay asked as Ketra stopped and looked at her kinsfolk in surprise.
"Oh no! Today is the flower festival! I completely forgot! Myself and my knights were supposed to be overseeing the festivities but with your arrival and the appearance of the Cursed one we Completly forgot!" Ketra exclaimed then she glanced at the two humans standing flanking her.
"Please wait here," Ketra said and then in true Dream Warrior fashion she vanished in a large red-coloured blur that was streaking right for her home and Jay couldn't help but stifle a laugh as he watched her go.
"How the hell does she do that!?" Xao exclaimed as he tried to track her movements in vain as she disappeared from sight.
"She's a Dream Warrior, trust me when I say if you are trying to understand them just don't bother, we have Dream Warriors back on Clan Mason's homeworld, we train them and turn them into Seekers of Truth, which are kinda like warrior-priests if that makes sense, they are trained in all forms of combat from had to hand, to the blade, to more modern stuff using rifles and plasma weapons but their main thing is swordplay combined with their plethora of abilities which before you ask I have no clue how they do what they do, all I know is they are supposed to be touched by the gods themselves which gives them their abilities, but within the Clan, they are treated no differently than any other person even a civilian non-combatant if there really is such a thing within Clan Mason given that we are made up of a plethora of species all used to fighting for their very existence or in the case of the Yautja for sport when they hunt," Jay said.
Xao shook his head looking both amazed and a little dumbfounded, "All these incredible things and people I mean fuck me we are legitimately stood on an alien fucking world among fucking aliens and you are treating it like it's just another day!" Xao exclaimed looking around at all the curious Beledons who were slowly closing in on them now that their guardian had gone and their curiosity about the little alien strangers in their midst got the better of them.
"In the Clan, we simply call it Monday," Jay said with a grin causing Xao to look at him in shock again and Jay placed a calming hand on his new friend's shoulder.
"You forget my friend that I come from a place where humans and non-humans live together side by side with no differences between them, Clan Mason was originally made up of three species all of which you met in the form of my comrades and fellow Saviours aboard your ship, you had humans that's us, then there were the Yautja a species of warriors and Glactic hunters who would test themselves against the biggest and baddest creatures in the universe to prove themselves worthy of being a full blooded hunter of their clan a tradition that perseveres even to this day and trust me there is plenty to hunt on our worlds for them, though in days gone by the nomadic clans would even hunt humans because we were considered a dangerous prey species that were very cunning and dangerous, then you have the Xenomorphs and this is where things get tricky, now from what I'm told most species see them as a very dangerous pest or nuicence that use species large enough as both breeding stock and food, they set up hives kinda like insects but you would not want to call one of our Xeno's an insect to their face or you might not have one left to give them the smug smile afterwards, in essence they are just a sentient species doing what ever they need to to survive but when presented with the option where they can live side by side with others without having to rely on them to not only produce their children but to eat they pretty much always take it, but just like every sentient species they are not all good" Jay said.
Xao turned to look at a massive Beledon woman dressed in a flowing long summer style dress who had come right up to them bold as brass and was now circling around him but fortunately, she did seem to be obeying the rules that said not to touch people without permission, but apparently, there wasn't one about leaning down and sniffing near their hair.
"Odd little people are pretty and smell funny but good funny," the woman said in Beledon to the male Beledon that was standing near them and he looked like he was dressed for this flower festival as well by the large flowing shirt that had a lot of frills on it and flowers all over him.
The male had large highly polished horns that had flowers woven around them and throughout his golden mane, he leaned down and sniffed around their hair as well and then he nodded in obvious agreement with his friend, "Yes smells good, is also pretty colours too wonder if is man or woman?" the male said glancing from Xao to Jay and back.
"We're both males," Jay said in his rapidly improving Beledon making both of the Beledon open their eyes in amazement and their ears pricked right up.
"You's speaks like us!" the male said with obvious joy.
"I'm learning," Jay said rather than trying to explain the technology embedded in his skull to them.
"Is smart and pretty, I thinks me's likes these pretty creatures" the male said swishing his long tail about and smiling happily.
"Me's agrees!" the woman said leaning down to smile at Xao who looked somewhat nervous now by the attentions of the big Beledon woman.
"Unhand pretty creature Xao! Is under protection of the Knights!" a sudden and very familiar voice exclaimed from behind the group and both the two humans and the Beledon turned to look only to see Ova stomping towards them with the look of a woman on a mission though now she was dressed in a long flowing summer dress and covered in flowers which really didn't seem to go with her sword and shield.
Instantly the big female Knight put herself in-between Xao and the curious Beledon woman and very nearly knocked the surprised Asian man over with her sizable rear end which also very nearly got jammed in his face as she squared up to the other woman.
"Me's no touch pretty creature me swears it Knight Ova, me's only looks and greet new friends," the woman said holding her hands up in a gesture of surrender.
"It's true Ova they never touched either of us, they just came over to talk to us and to look at us, or more accurately Xao," Jay said flashing the surprised-looking man who was trying his hardest not to look at the large feminine rear end that was very nearly knocking him over every time she turned.
Ova folded her arms over her large chest for a moment before placing her hands on her wide feminine flared hips and nodding her head approvingly, "Well good, see that you do not, you may look but there is no touch unless pretty friend Xao allows it" she said in a matter of fact voice.
She came so very close to curling her long flower-wrapped tail around Xao's head so many times in during the entirety of that conversation that Jay simply couldn't help but grin as he waited for the point where she forgot herself and coiled her tail around his head and wound up jamming his face right into her rear end but fortunately or maybe unfortunately for Xao it appeared that Ketra's lecture earlier had really hit home with the overprotective knight.
Speaking of which Ketra now arrived with the rest of the knights and when Jay turned to look he felt his eyes widen as he caught sight of the massive female Beledon Dream Warrior who was now dressed in a beautiful white and pink flowing summer dress with a long skirt that somehow really drew your eyes to her legs which were hidden below it but appeared for the briefest of seconds with every step she took and every swish of her tail.
Jay felt his eyes being drawn upwards over her wide hips following the bunches and creases of the light flowery material that he beautiful dress was made from, his eyes were also drawn to the twisting climbing trails of flowers that wound their way up her ample body until they reached the flower boas that were wrapped around her shoulders and her horns, she was truly breathtaking.
She noticed him looking at her and she smiled at him, "I've brought some flowers for you both as well but thanks to our duties speaking to the head priests might take longer than anticipated" she said.
"So what is this flower festival?" Jay said as Ketra stepped forwards and gently placed the long pink and white flower combination boa around his neck before turning and handing the other one to Ova who turned around and leaned down while she happily placed it around Xao's neck.
"it is a celebration of the Goddess of fertility and the season of growth called spring when nature blossoms and blooms after the coldness of the frozen winter season, so we gather together to celebrate how she brings back the life to our home and also the love that comes with it, the flowers bring beauty to our world and the animals bring joy to us in the form of companionship in our pets or those that give their lives so that we might live so we might put food on our tables so this is also a time for us to give thanks to the Goddess for her looking after these beautiful creatures and making sure more of them continue to grace our world," Ketra said happily and proudly.
"Sounds beautiful, we have similar festivals on our homeworld that celebrate our protecting deities like the recent addition of the festival of the Sun which was brought to our home by the Serpentinus, Raptorians and the rescued Scalathor as well as the Draconis that celebrates their deity who called the Great Tree, it is a beautiful festival that involves going out and planting new trees and plants around our beautiful home, the whole Clan gets involved and there's lots of singing and dancing involved though I must say the Raptorian boys who tend to lead the singing do a much better job of it than the Yautja girls," Jay said with a little chuckle as he thought about the Yautja trying to sing the prayer songs.
"That sound beautiful!' Ketra said happily and Jay nodded smiling as he remembered Jack Mason being brought up by the Serpentinus to sing with them, they also asked Tik eleth Mason but she politely refused saying that she preferred to hear her husband sing but to be fair most of the Clan did as well as he had an amazing voice that when used in conjunction with his incredibly powerful abilities he could project his voice across the entire Clan.
"There's a lot of other festivals too like the festival of the hunt which gives thanks to Paya for the bounty of prey on our world," Jay said.
"I do believe that our cultures would get along very well Jay, it is obvious that your people pay proper respect to their deities and give thanks for their blessings and I do believe we would be honoured if you were to take part in our festival so would you do us the honour of taking part?" Ketra said and that's when Ova began dancing on the spot like a very over-excited over sized schoolgirl.
"Oh yes! This is terrific idea Blessed sister Ketra! Please pretty human Xao take part in flower festival!" Ova exclaimed looking at the confused-looking Asian man.
"Umm, what's she so excited about?" Xao asked in confusion.
"She wants you to take part in their flower festival," Jay said.
"Oh umm ok what does it involve?" Xao asked.
"You will be our honoured guests and head priest will ask you to join in with the songs of thanks to the Goddess Vatona and take part in the dancing do not worry you will be fine," Ketra said and Xao looked a little startled but it appeared that Ova's excitement and enthusiasm were infectious because Xao nodded and Ova let out the most unknight-like squee noise Jay had ever heard and she dashed forwards to hug Xao but froze when she caught Ketra's death glare.
"May Ova hug Xao?" Ova asked in a hopeful but very ashamed voice as her ears drooped.
"Umm does she want to hug me or something?' Xao asked and Jay nodded impressed by Xao picking up on the non-verbal communication between the two Beledons.
"Tell her it's ok she can hug me if she wants," Xao said and Jay smiled and nodded turning to Ova.
"He gives you his permission to hug him," Jay said and Ova's ears shot upright and her eyes went wide before she let out a bellowing squee noise and snatched Xao off the floor and up into the air in her huge arms before nearly crushing him face-first into the gap in her ample cleavage, funnily enough, the young Asian man didn't look too unhappy at all really not that Jay could actually see his face.
When Ova finally released Xao he gasped for breath but he smiled as the big Beledon girl put him down on his feet and she steadied him slightly though Jay was pretty sure she wanted an excuse to keep her hands on him for as long as she could not that Xao looked worried this time around if anything he looked rather happy.
"Wow she's a strong girl, damn she's got a grip like a vice" Xao sounded a little out of breath and Jay could see the flush on his face.
"He goes pretty colour again! Will fit in so well with pretty flowers around him, friend Xao is like pretty flower" Ova exclaimed happily though this time she didn't grab his chin she just moved around him to admire his flushed face.
With that Ketra and the knights pretty much surrounded the two little humans and began shepherding them towards the large stone temple that was surrounded by huge hanging gardens and what appeared to be orchards filled with trees that had large branches filled with not only beautiful flowers but large green and red fruit that kinda reminded Jay of apples.
Ova reached out and took Xao's hand in hers and as he didn't pull away from her she took it as a good sign and began to lead him towards the large domed temple and Jay noticed Ketra shoot her knight a slight unhappy glare but then her glance switched from Ova to Xao and she need to notice that he didn't look unhappy about the large knight holding his hand and if anything he looked somewhat comforted that he had a guide/protector.
She glanced at her own hand as she lifted it up in front of her and flexed her large fingers then she turned to Jay looked at him and then at her hand again before offering it to him with a rather hopeful look in her warm brown eyes.
Oddly Jay reached out and actually took her hand without realizing he had, his eyes had never left Ketra's large bovine one's the entire time, infact the first indicator that he'd moved was that a large warm smile broke out on her face and this was followed by a tight pressure on his hand.
Ketra turned and led Jay towards the temple following along right behind Ova and Xao who were now trying to speak to the massive bovine knight at her side and while it was obvious that she didn't understand a word he was saying she did seem to like listening to him or maybe she just liked the sound of his heavily accented soft voice, Jay noticed that her ears were fully focused on him.
The gardens were filled with Beledons of all shapes and sizes though predominately that size was large or at least a lot larger than the two little humans now in their midst, though once they were spotted the two little humans instantly became full of curiosity of all of the gathered Beledons who closed in to look at the two small aliens.
The both Ova and Ketra as well as the others did a good job of keeping the overly curious Beledon at bay until they were able to get them through the massive ornate bronze doors and into the temple interior, now Jay had expected to see lots of benches or seats but instead, there were large groups of cushions scattered around for the large groups of Beledons who were sat on the floor.
There were only one or two solo people in here and Jay swiftly noticed that the vast majority of those seated facing the large altar area which appeared to be made from a large carved piece of white marble, were couples and quite obviously so.
The vast majority were heterosexual couples made up of men and women but there were a few homosexual couples as well being men and other men and women and other women and it was obvious that they were all here to proudly celebrate their love in front of the Goddess at this Flower Festival of theirs.
Jay and Xao were led right to the front as apparently being in charge of the security here gave Ketra and her team special privilege, there was a little area that was covered in a large thick and soft looking hand woven blanket that was covered in soft-looking pillows and they were sat down in the middle of it.
"Please stay here while the priests and the head priestess go through the ceremony and we will join you afterwards," Ketra said to Jay and he nodded and she turned to Ova who was squatting down and fluffing pillows for Xao to lean on and trying to offer him fruit from a large wooden bowl.
"Come Ova, leave friend Xao alone we have a job to do, you will have plenty of time later when we are back home," Ketra said and Ova's ears drooped and her tail drooped but she nodded and stood up and as they watched the knights moved to take their positions around the altar while Ketra headed into the back to obviously get the priests and head priestess.
Jay looked around at the inside of the temple and it really was something, it was truly beautiful, huge woven tapestries hung from every available surface not showing scenes of war or battles like they had seen around the city but of love and life, of Beledons growing things of them nurturing life and celebrating it, everything from flowers to fruits and trees right up to their children, there were lots of greens and blues in the tapestries and the style kinda reminded Jay of those pictures he'd seen of the Ancient Greeks that he'd seen in the Clan library.
This place was a celebration of life in its entirety, everywhere he looked there were flowers and depictions of life and nature and it was truly beautiful, he got the feeling the Raptorians would absolutely love this place, though they would have to work on not getting trod on by the massive Beledon as not many races could make the Yautja look normal-sized.
Pretty soon Ketra reappeared and she was leading a procession of beautifully dressed Beledon who were wearing silk robes that had flowers and depictions of life all over them, the head priestess was following directly behind Ketra along with six other priests who were all wearing hooded versions of the robes but were all much darker than the head priestess.
Ketra moved to the front and knelt before the altar as the head priestess a surprisingly slender looking female Beledon with just black fur and bright green eyes which locked right onto Jay and Xao as they sat on their big soft cushions right at the front and her face lit up in a warm welcoming smile.
"Greetings friends and kin, plus a very special welcome to our wonderful guests sat here at the front it warms my heart greatly that they decided to come here today and to help us celebrate the blessings of the beautiful Goddess Vatona and her most beloved husband Dorba, these two are the guiding pair that make up the basis of all life and are two sides of the coin that is life, one brings life the other guides the spirits of the fallen into the blessed beyond, one gives us the life that we celebrate here today the other is the guardian who brings an end to that life and balances nature out, one cannot be without the other and their endless love is something that we all should to aspire to hold for ourselves with the one we love," the head priestess said with a smile that warmed the whole room and it was at that point that Jay realised she was a Dream Warrior as he felt the presence of another reaching for his mind just like one of the Seekers of Truth.
By the smile that lit her face suddenly and was directed at him he realised that she knew that he knew about her and somewhat understood her, he suddenly felt a question in his mind, it asked for permission to walk among his thoughts so that she could understand him as well so Jay released the grip on his mind and let her enter.
This made her smile broaden into one made of pure joy, "Today we must also welcome two new friends to our humble village and into our lives, our little human brothers came to us not through choice but through circumstance but it is now up to us to protect them and make them feel welcome among us, we will show them that they are safe, loved and welcome here, but first, please our new friends would you come and join me in a traditional song to give thanks to our beloved Goddess for the lives we enjoy and the loves we revel in" the head priestess said holding out her hands towards Jay and Xao.
"Looks like we're up don't be afraid just follow my lead ok?" Jay said climbing to his feet and offering a hand to Xao and as he helped him to his feet he could actually feel both Ketra and Ova staring at them.
"What do they want us to do?" Xao asked in confusion.
"Sing I think," Jay said and now Xao truly did look nervous and uncomfortable.
"I-I-I can't Jay, I-I-I don't know how to sing" he stammered and Jay smiled at him softly.
"Trust me, my friend, I'm the same but you'll be fine trust me ok?" he said.
He led the nervous Asian man up to the altar and he was blatantly aware of all the eyes and ears tracking them, the head priestess came out from the altar and she stepped forwards and hugged them both comfortingly and Jay actually felt both Ova and Ketra twitch from across the room.
The head priestess guided them before the altar, "Please do not worry, I know you speak our language but Xao here does not, so I will sing and you sing what I do in your language then he can follow you ok? Please tell him not to worry about the timing, only the words are important as it is both a song and a prayer" she said softly in Beledon so Jay turned to Xao and told him what she said and he nodded nervously and that's when the head priestess seemed to really pick up on his fear and an idea seemed to come to her.
"Honoured knight Ova please join us here, you as well Blessed knight Ketra," she said gesturing to the pair and both of the large Beledon knights looked surprised and pointed at themselves and the head priestess nodded and gestured for them to join them so they did both bowing before the altar.
"Both of our human friends and nervous and they take comfort from you pair, so you will be their strength while we give thanks to the Goddess," she said reaching out and taking both Jay and Xao's hands and placing them into Ketra and Ova's much larger hands then she got the pair to hold each other hands so they formed a circle around her.
That's when she began to sing and Jay could not be truly impressed by how beautiful her voice sounded, the words were pretty simple for him to follow as it was just a simple hymn that gave thanks for their lives and for the bounty of the harvest, it was simple but it was surprisingly a beautiful song and having gotten used to having to say the oath of the Clan he was used to following along in large groups so he gave it his best effort and sung the words she was singing in Beledon.
Despite his reservation, it turned out that Xao had a truly beautiful singing voice and by the looks of both surprise and also true delight written on the faces of all the Beledon especially Ova all around him they all thought so too.
It seemed that Xao was feeling rather self-conscious by all the attention he was getting from all the singing Beledon that had now joined with the song, but he carried on singing and by the by the excitement that was growing among the gathered people he was rapidly developing quite a fan club and Jay couldn't help but smile as he thought about Ova having to try and to compete for his time or attention which considering the slight obsession she was rapidly developing would be quite funny.
Eventually, the song ended and the head priestess beamed from ear to ear and her ears twitched happily like they were waving before she reached forwards and hugged each of them in turn and then turned the two humans to face the gathered crowd who all clapped for them making both of them blush though it was only truly visible on Xao a fact that made Jay infinity happy.
"I would like to thank our little human friends for their truly beautiful performance, I truly believe that their voices would warm the heart of the Goddess herself and that of her beloved husband themselves, thank you to both of you," she said.
She once again gestured to their seats which they moved over and for a moment it looked like Ova was considering joining Xao until she caught Ketra giving her a glare that said 'Don't even think about it,' so she headed back to her post with a definitely sulky walk.
The rest of the ceremony was beautiful to watch, there were many songs and even marriage was concentrated which both Jay and Xao both felt kinda privileged to witness, but just as the proceedings were beginning to draw to a close Jay heard a commotion outside in the form of shouting and screaming and before he could even blink Ketra and her knights leapt into action heading for the door drawing their swords and jay could see a ripple of fear and concern spreading across the crowd.
"Stay here," Jay said looking at Xao.
"Wait! Where are you going!?" he exclaimed looking up at him as he draw his ZRT from his back and checked it.
"To help, I'm a sworn Saviour of Clan Mason, it is my sworn duty to protect people regardless of who they are, we are sworn to step up and to help where ever we are needed and if this here and now then so be it," Jay said and with that, he took off after Ketra and her knights.
As he burst out of the temple he could see Ketra and her knights near the gates of the temple in a line of black-dressed soldiers with a singular one directly in front of them facing off with Ketra and a flash of fear shot through Jay as he saw the black hooded figure at the head of the soldiers he could just feel pure darkness just rolling off him.
Jay flicked his ZRT onto plasma mode and it whirred and clicked as he ran forwards across the open gardens to stand with the knights, "Jay get back! It's a cursed one!" Ketra yelled as she held her sword over her head.
"So this is what the dark lords spoke of, a child of the Huntress has come to our home, well then if my brother failed to remove you from our lands I can promise you tiny worthless one I will not and this weak pathetic excuse for one who considers herself supposedly blessed will not stop me," the large hooded figure said in a voice so deep that it sounded like he was almost speaking in slow motion.
"You dare come here! On this BLESSED day! You befoul this sacred place with your mere presence vile one! You will take not a single step forwards, you will leave this place in a box for invading the sanctity of our beloved home and I promise you this, you will NOT touch a single hair upon his head while I still draw breath vile one!" Ketra bellowed so loudly her voice seemed to carry for miles.
The hooded figure lifted his head and Jay caught a hint of a twisted smile upon his maw hidden in the shadows of his hood, "On that, you and I agree pathetic knight, attack my loyal servants but leave her for me, she is mine!" he said and with that, the ten black armoured knights rushed forwards towards Ova and the other knights.
For a moment Jay just froze as he watched the black armoured knights wearing full plate armour rushing right towards the unarmored Ova and the others and a flash of mind-crippling fear ran through him, they were outnumbered two to one and without armour their chances were slim, all they had were their swords and that's when something inside him just broke.
It was like he felt it actually snap and snap hard, "You will not hurt my friends!" he bellowed loudly and he hoisted his ZRT into the aim quickly skirting around the outside of the knights and aiming at one who rushed him with his long black two-handed battle axe held high with the obvious intent of bringing it right down atop of his head and Jay knew that if he completed that swing he'd be cut clean in two like a block of firewood on the Grand Patriarch's chopping block.
That's when Jay's training simply took hold of him and a calmness the likes of which he had never felt before washed through him making him feel like everything was calm and tranquil, he hoisted his ZRT into the aim centring it on the exposed breastplate of the huge knight like he had all the time in the world, with a gentle squeeze of the trigger he pulled a double-tap sending two bright and small plasma projectiles speeding forwards from the barrel of the gun which for a moment seemed to float lazily towards the man, is this how Seekers felt all the time?
He was using plasma rather than railgun slugs as at this range even in low power mode they had a very high chance of over penetrating and shooting off into the town beyond so plasma was the way to go as when it hit it would dump all of its energy into the target which is exactly what happened.
The first shot impacted against the man's breastplate and began toward outwards, it made the metal glow white-hot and transferred all of its energy into it along with the potential kinetic energy which forced the white-hot metal inwards like a massive glowing cone, effectively turning the man's armour into a large sabot round that bored its way clean through his chest and punching out the back peppering the next attacking knight over with molten metal and burning guts.
Before the man even began to fall face-first into the dirt Jay had switched his aim to the next knight over who was trying to shield himself from the burning metal and bits of his friend and he treated him to a double-tap of his very own one in the head and one in the heart.
The man had a helmet on that made him look like a black metal bull and as the plasma round hit it penetrated clean through one of the eye sockets and sent a massive jet of blue flames billowing out of both the eye sockets and the nasal passages like he'd just become a Dragon inside the armour, the roar of the flames also drowned out the man's scream of agony as his entire head was vaporised inside his helmet by the over 5000-degree heat.
Ova and the other knights seemed to freeze in shock while both the Nightmare Assassin and Ketra were locked in combat and too busy to notice that Jay was advancing down the line quickly dropping the black armoured invaders one after the other as the devastating power of Clan Mason weapon became plainly obvious for all to see because in the hands of a trained Savior like Jay at this range he was just not going to miss such big targets and it took nothing more than a simple double-tap to the chests and heads to drop them one after the other.
After he got halfway the others down the line began to realise that they were being decimated and they tried to protect themselves with their shields but to the super heated plasma shot the heavy metal shields did little more than slow the shots down and pepper their owners with molten hot metal that bored right into their armour plates as well as the flesh beyond it.
Jay was in a combat stance and was moving forwards parallel to the line of knights defending the temple who all wore the same open-mouthed shocked expression as the little human cut down the ten heavily armed and armoured invaders one after the other after the other till the last one who tried to run away only to get hit in the back by a pair of plasma rounds sending him sliding forwards on his face with a pluming jet of flame shooting out of his back like Jay had shot a rocket up his cowardly arse.
Now only the Nightmare Assassin who was still locked in combat with Ketra remained and at a quick glance he seemed to realise it, he also seemed to realise that reinforcements in the form of more knights and other Blessed Knights were coming from the garrison as in the distance Jay could hear what was definitely an alarm bell ringing, infact so focused on protecting his new friends and the innocent people of the temple that Jay hadn't even realised that someone was ringing an alarm bell in the temple either.
Jay snapped his aim onto the Nightmare Assassin but held his fire because Ketra kept getting in his line of fire, "Ketra duck!" he yelled and with a quick glance Ketra dodged and rolled out of the line of fire allowing Jay to open up on the Nightmare Assassin on full auto.
The Nightmare Assassin seemed to be well versed in the arts of his power and combat because he weaved and dodged around the incoming projectiles but he also made the mistake of trying to deflect a couple with his sword and that's when Jay realised that this one did not have one of those blessed or in the case of Nightmare Assassins corrupted blades or maybe cursed was a better word for them?
Because no sooner did the plasma shot hit the sword than it melted clean through it which cut the black sword blade off just above the hilt and sent a jet of burning metal right up onto his hand, arm and some even hit him in the face burning through his hood.
The massive male bellowed in rage and pain and dropped the useless sword jumping back as he did scrabbling at his face to remove the burning metal, as he looked up Jay could now see his face and it looked like a blob of molten metal had hit him clearly in the right eye and it had been burned out having now been replaced with a lump of metal.
"You will not hurt these good people vile one, I am a sworn Saviour of Clan Mason and I will stand for them and alongside them and you and vile ilk will not harm or corrupt one innocent life while we still draw breath, we stand TOGETHER!" Jay bellowed at him in Beledon.
His other eye which looked like a burning coal in his head fixed on Jay as the human Saviour fixed him right in his sights as his cooling systems pumped air through the barrels to rapidly cool it, "I will not forget this insult I will be back and the next time we meet I will destroy you, child of Paya, you will not spread your poison on this blessed soil, these lands belong to the dark lords, they are the only ones who can protect us from your vile poison, we will not fail, Beledons will be free of you! These lands are ours!" he bellowed and with that, he threw out an arm literally pulling the shadows from a nearby tree which he melted into and vanished.
Jay lowered his weapon and sighed heavily, suddenly his body felt like lead and his legs felt like a sponge but before he collapsed Ketra appeared next to him like she's just popped into existence and caught him but the look on her face was one that was a mixture of shock and euphoria.
"Truly incredible Jay! You destroyed those knights single handily! They did not even get the chance to cross swords with our defenders! I have never seen anything like it!" she exclaimed hoisting him into the air before her and then hugging him tightly to her chest.
"I-I-I'm a Saviour, protecting people is what we do, plus I owed you guys one for saving me and Xao so I guess we're even now" Jay stammered as his eyes caught on the bodies that littered the ground around them all slain by his hand, lives that he had taken.
Then as if teleported in more Blessed Knights arrived along with Lord Beltran and his wife all fully armoured and ready to do battle and their attention was fixed upon the dead knight on the floor.
"Blessed Knight Ketra report!" Lord Beltran said.
"It was a cursed one Lord Beltran, he came hoping to kill Saviour Jay and Xao but Jay prevailed, he slew the enemies and protected both my knights and our good people with his weapon just as he said he would, he has proven that he takes his oaths and loyalty seriously," she said.
"It is true Lord Beltran I witnessed it from the temple, our new friend did not hesitate when the call to arms sounded he rushed along with our good knights to defend the temple and its people, he took on and defeated these fallen knights alone, they did not have the chance to reach out defences," the head priestess said gesturing to the knights as she strode up to join them.
Lord Beltran growled as he scanned the fallen, "Where is the cursed one?" he snarled.
"He was able to escape my lord" Ketra said and he snarled but nodded.
"Come Blessed knight Ketra, bright your knights and honoured Saviour Jay with you I believe we have much to discuss," he said and with that Ketra placed down Jay and gestured for them all to follow as they all fell in step with Lord Beltran and his guard, Jay had a feeling this was not going to be a fun conversation.
