While I was walking to the front everyone got really quiet which was somehow worse than if they were talking. Once I got to the front Chiron gave me a shake on the hand and if my life could get any worse Percy gave me the most uncomfortable hug ever that for some reason gave me butterflies. Damn it Jackson, if I ended up staying I was literally going to kill you, I thought to myself. Once I broke the hug everyone gasped. I originally thought it was from me hugging Percy but they weren't looking at me, they were looking above me.
Then I saw a glowing red heart with arrows going through it right above my head. I Immediately heard kids whispering. I heard a lot of what does that mean? Or that's a new one. Chiron raised his hand for silence, Once everyone was quite he began to speak
"Scarlet Sinclair, Daughter of Eros, God of Love and desire." He said in such a way that it made my cringe. That's when I saw a girl stand from the area where the Aphrodite kids were sitting.
"Chiron, if she chooses to, she can stay with us in an aphrodite cabin, we are all children of a love god." A girl with brown hair. Chiron looked down for approval. I nodded, I did not want to say with the hermes kids any longer. Connor and Travis were great but I couldn't imagine what night would be like there.
"Then it is decided, Scarlet will stay in the aphrodite cabin until further notice." Chiron said.
While I walked to what I guessed were the aphrodite kids because they were all absolutely gorgeous. I sat next to the girl who had invited me to the cabin.
"Hi, I'm Piper Mclean," The girl said. " Welcome to cabin 10"
"Hi im- well you already know my name, umm thanks for the invite" I said trying to sound confident. "Um, I think Percy said something about you when giving me a tour. I can't remember what."
"Oh him, he's cool but don't listen to anything he tells you, it's all lies." She added as she let out a small laugh.
I started to go to the Hermes cabin to grab my stuff assuming it would be there. I entered the cabin and went to my old bunk to find that nothing was there.
"If you're looking for your stuff it should be in your cabin," Connor said while looking at me. "It gets put there when you get claimed"
"Oh thanks, um goodnight?' I replied embarrassed, and ran to the Aphrodite cabin.
"Right before I entered , Piper had just started to walk up to the cabin.
" Wait!" she yelled and carefully walked over to me. " Oh my Gods, wait a minute there's a girl whose name is Drew, don't get caught up in the things she says" Piper said running up to me "Also here's this'' she handed me a small makeup bag. I wasn't sure what was in there.
"Umm thank you?" I took the bag and put it in my coat pocket.
"It's magic, It has some essentials in it" "Piper added.
"And that's you bunk, don't be out until too late the harpies will eat you." Piper pointed to a bed in the back corner. It was a very neat and comfortably queen size bed. I climbed on my bed making sure everything was in my backpack, including the minotaur's horn. I may be leaving but I was gonna keep my trophy.
Once I made it to the entrance that passed out in front of when I first got here. Just before I was about to leave for good I heard a voice that made me jump out of my skin.
"I wouldn't do that if i were you, you'll die out there." A voice said from the shadows. "Or do it, I won't tell no one."
"Excuse me?" I said, still startled. That's when a boy with dark hair and a brown aviator jacket emerged from the Shadows.
"I'm Nico and that was quite a show you put on," the dark-haired boy said. "You know you're really timid for a child of Eros."
"Thanks I guess" Still wondering where this kid had come from.
I really wanted to run away now. This kid just popped from the Shadows And told me I put on quite a show whatever that means. I didn't really care to be honest but I also didn't really want to die and to be fair he had a good point I probably would die out there. I knew I was safer here even if I wanted to leave and I knew it.
"So are you going to leave or not?" Nico asked. "I mean I don't really care either way but I'd like to know"
I stood there shocked for a moment. The fact that this kid didn't care that I died was kind of concerning. I mean in his defense he didn't know me but still I was kind of offended.
"No, I don't think I am," I finally said.
" Oh okay" Nico replied.
" What do you mean 'oh okay'?" I asked
" Like I said I don't care, but I'm kind of disappointed" he just looked at me.
"Disappointed that I chose to live?" I said in a questioning tone.
"Yes," he replied flatly.
"What?" I Whisper yelled. I was just shocked that he said yes so bluntly. What did this kid have against me? Why did he want me to die so badly? I had so many questions but chose not to ask. Ironically this was the least weird thing that had happened to me all day. So I chose to enjoy it and sat in the grass next to Nico.
