Since galas are boring but a necessity for everyone at least once a year, the batkids have to find ways to occupy themselves without bringing attention to them by starting a super competitive game of Uno. For cases where multiple of them are at the same gala, they try to make it more bearable/interesting by taking more of the betting route - money or favours used to bet.
Some common bets placed are which guest embarrasses themself in what way, whether or not there will be a kidnapping this time or not, and (mainly limited to Dick, Jason and Steph) who can get the most people's numbers.
