Prologue: unexpected arrival

Deep space…

Somewhere in the dark of deep space, UNSC Forward Unto Dawn finds itself wandering aimless for at least five months. During that time, Cortana was keeping maintenance of what was left of the ships, while keeping records on past events that led to the end of the human-covenant war. The first halo array, the encounter with a flood, the battle for the earth, great schism, and finally the ark. Humanity won and survived all thanks to one man, a spartan called Master chief or John-117. The Spartans had endured many great trials during the war. But after trying to escape from the ark, only half the ship was able to make it back to earth, while the rest was left in the vacuum of space in an unknown region of space.

This was the situation that both Cortana and John were in. While John would remain in cryo until UNSC could pick up their distress signal, Cortana would calculate the chance of being saved would take years before anyone could pick up the distress signal. While Cortana continues with her maintenance and calculations, the ship's sensors seem to pick up something while she is working on her data network. Shockingly, the sensors were able to detect a planet nearby and a habitable one as well. Cortana would weigh her options in this change of event. On one hand, they would have a better chance of surviving on the planet and set up a base of operation until they can be rescued. On the other hand, they don't know what kind of local wildlife they will encounter or whether sentient locals will be a threat.

After carefully looking through her calculations, she realized that it was better to take risks on a set forward basis on the planet, then continue aimless wandering in space. She would try to settle up in a good place for the crash in order to prevent any more damage to the ship. After checking on Forward Unto Dawn supplies and equipment, she concluded that it was time to wake up the spartan from his long stasis. Inside the cryo pod, John would open his eyes and at the same time, his visor helmet would begin to reboot, showing his health and shield. He made a quick check on his armor system to see any major damage. Fortunately, damage was only minor during his fight on the ark.

"Did you enjoy your long nap, John?" said Cortana.

John would smile a bit; he was happy to see Cortana again. Despite leaving Cortana to be alone on the ship, while he was in cryo. He was glad that she lost her cheerful self, epically had to endure the torture from Gravemind back in High Charity.

"What is the situation Cortana? Has UNSC found our distress beacon?" asked John.

'Straight to the point as ever,' Cortana thought to herself.

Cortana would explain the situation to John, while the Spartan wasn't happy, they hadn't been rescued by UNSC yet, but he could understand that their options were few and limited. Furthermore, setting base operations on the planet would give them a better chance of survival, and sending a probe in space would give them a chance to make any communication with UNSC ships passing by.

John would gather the weapon he would need for the long journey. He decided to take a MA5C battle rifle for mid-range and a SRS99D-S2 sniper rifle for long distance range to scout any enemies nearby. After that he would take an M6G magnum as well as a combat knife just case for extra measure. Now that he was fully armed and ready, he began to make away to the drop pod area. Many ODST would use this drop pod in order to get behind enemy lines during special operations. However, they are also very dangerous because it is known during reentry the rocket in the pod could malfunction and cause the pilot to die on impact. That one main fear for any ODST operatives is the reason they call these pod death coffins.

"Did you find a suitable place for the Dawn to land?" asked John.

"I did; however, I have to make sure that the ship doesn't suffer any more exterior damage, during its impact on the planet despite the fact we're missing half the ship." Cortana replied.

"What of the vehicle and weapons armory would be affected by the crash?" John asked again.

"If my calculations are correct, and they are, then most of the vehicles and weapons would be fine. I make sure to keep it locked and tight, so we don't lose them during re-entry on the planet." said Cortana.

After loading all the weapons to drop pods, he begins to enter the cockpit of the pod. Make sure that all systems are good and prepare the lunch squeal, soon the pod will drop down from the ships. John can see from the window that the ship entered the planet's atmosphere while burning at the same time. Then John looks down on the planet as the pod also descends into the atmosphere, not knowing that his presence may change events that are yet to come.

Iron kingdoms...

In the continent of Immoren lay the Iron Kingdoms where the great five human nations live in this land:

The north of the continent is ruled by a nation called Khador. The people of Khador are known to be very rigid people able to endure and adapt to the cold environment. Furthermore, they tend to have big fire tempers, fierce pride, and unbending tendencies. These traits made them famous for having powerful warriors and martial combat in the lands. But it also makes them very disliked from other kingdoms due to being in constant fight with its neighbors. However the people of this land don't see that way, for they believe they are restoring a legacy that was denied them from the other kingdoms.

The southern continent is where the kingdom of Cygnar resides. This kingdom is known to be the jewel of the Iron kingdom due it fast technological advances then the other kingdoms. While not as strong and rigid as the people of khador doesn't mean they aren't weak. The people of Cygnar would gladly fight for their homeland, and their advanced weapons would give them an edge against other kingdoms, mostly Khador.

In the west of the continent broadening between Khador and Cygnar is the kingdom of Ord. This kingdom once used to be bigger than it is now. Many years ago, Khador attacked the kingdom of Ord claiming much of their land, but their invasion was stopped by Ord's huge defensive wall. This kingdom is known to be a safe haven for mercenaries and privateers due lack of strong army in the kingdom.

In the east of the continent lay the kingdom of Llael which borders Khador and Cygner. This kingdom is known to have large artisans and beautiful architecture. However, behind all of that beauty lies a sinister truth. Much of the kingdom has become corrupted due many higher ups fighting each other over the crown. Such instability leads to weakness, and weakness leads to chaos. Which makes a perfect opportunity for Khador to invade, which forces Cygnar to be more involved in order to prevent such action.

Further down southeast of the continent is probably the youngest of the kingdom called Protectorate of Menoth or Protectorate for short. This kingdom doesn't have many resources due to living in a desert climate. But one thing this kingdom has is faith. The people here are known to be extremely zealous and threaten those that don't follow their faith. For they believe that their faith is the one and only faith that all mankind should follow and won't be afraid to go against other kingdoms.

These five kingdoms saw the burning comet coming down from the sky. Many wonder what this strange comet could mean for the Iron Kingdoms, many believe to be omen that something is about to happen. Others believe it to be a sign from their gods, one thing for certain is that the Iron kingdom would never be the same again.

Thornwood Forest…

Deep within the forest you hear the sound of birds chirping as they return to their nest with food for their young. Deers walking around the grass field, the male that leads the group is keeping watch for suspect prey, while the female keeps close to their young to make sure that they don't stray away. Suddenly their sound a distant hellish scream which alerts that animal in the area, then sound keeps coming closer and closer till boom! Strange metal egg shapes crash down on the ground making the animal running scared for their animal. Then hiss came out from the object, soon something flew out from the object which was the door hit some of the rocks nearby. Soon a green armor figure jumps out with his weapon in hand looking around the perimeter.

"Cortana, can you scale any enemies in the area?" asked John, as he continued to point his assault rifle weapon around the area they crashed on with their drop pod.

"Hold up, let me see if my sensor detects anything" replied Cortana, it did take long for her to see their sensor there were no enemies single to be found.

"So far so good John, but I don't recommend that we stay here for too long. Considering that our entry wasn't settled and the fact that a giant fireball just crashed landed on this planet," said Cortana.

John nods, understanding that no doubt people of this world would have noticed a strange object has come down from space. He would walk back to the pod to retrieve his sniper rifle and place it in his back. Then he would look around the forest and take in the beauty that nature has provided for this land. While the tree isn't as big as the one back at Reach, John still appreciates the peaceful atmosphere that it provides.

"Have you found where the ship has crashed?" John asked, while keeping vigilant of his surroundings. "I have the location of the ship, which lay in the East of this continent and by my calculation, I estimated that we arrived for around 3-4 days on foot." Cortana said.

"Good, then we better get moving, I don't want to leave the Dawn unattended for too long, since we are in an unknown world." John replied.

Soon John carefully started to jog through the forest, he continued to keep his vigilant for deep down he knew that forest carried many dangers. John continues to jog for the last two hours, so far everything seems good on their journey until Cortant warns about unknown signatures coming their way to him.

"John, I detected big signatures coming our way, and coming in fast!" Cortana warns John about the upcoming threat.

John soon pointed his assault battle at the location of the enemy, slowly he was waiting for the enemy to jump, thinking it may be a wild animal. Then the animal would jump front on him, but what John saw made him buff. Right in front of him was a wolf, not just any ordinary wolf, for this wolf seemed to have two heads and big as a mongoose. John had to make sure that he didn't see an illusion for this something he never thought of facing in this world.

"Well, that's something you don't see everyday" said Cortana, for she is also buff about what she sees in front of her.

The two head wolf creature was growing him, showing its mass teeth that can tear human flash with ease. Then it circled around John trying to find an opening. As this happens John continues to point his weapon at the huge two head wolf, just waiting for it to attack. This continues for one minute, but soon the two head wolf barks at the same time, sending a sonic attack at John. This attack causes the spartan to be distorted for a bit, which makes him drop his guard for a bit, yet this is enough for the wolf creature to jump on him.

"John, watch out!" yelled Cortana.

John was able to gain his vision back and saw that two head wolves were jumping right at him. The huge beast forces the spartan down to the ground, losing his assault rifle. John uses all this strength to prevent the wolf creature from tearing him limb from limb. John was able to hold the beast back with his bare hand, but the monster creature proved quite ferocious with its heads trying to tear him apart.

Knowing that he lost his assault rifle, he decided to reach for his magnum from his right leg, but the beast continued to attack him while keeping him pinned to the ground. Finally, John grabs his magnum then immediately shoots one of the heads of the wolf creature. The monster let out a yelp, as shots hit the second wolf's eyes, which forced the beast to jump off of him.

John immediately jumps back to his feet and runs to retrieve his assault rifle. After getting his rifle back from the ground, he turned his attention to the beast. He notices the beast's second head was dang, which confirmed that it was dead, but the other head seems to be active and ever angrier against the spartan. John wastes no time shooting at the beast, the bullets penetrate its skins, which force the beast to dodge quickly. Despite being a large size, it seems to be pretty fast and agile. Thankfully, John was able to keep track of the beast's movement and continue shooting at fast paced.

The beast seems to take a lot of bullets, as shown to slow down a bit, soon it seems to lose blood. Yet the beast continues to attack the spartan with strong ferocity. John had to make sure that he kept distance from the beast, dodging every attack that it made. Soon the beast started to lose its momentum from the amount of blood that it lost. Then the beast would collapse in a shower distance from the spartan.

Soon the spartan would walk toward that beast very slowly, with his rifle point at it. As he got up, he realized that the beast was breathing very heavily, no doubt from the heavy wound that it received. John would lower his weapon and continue to stare at the beast, while the beast live head continued to stare back at him with drive grow. Soon John would take out his magnum and shoot it last breathing head, putting out the beast for good this time. He would continue to stare at the beast for a few good moments until Cortana spoke to him again.

"You know, I expect to see some local dangerous wildlife from this planet, but I didn't expect to see huge two headed wolf." replied Cortana.

"Me neither," John answered back.

"You think it came alone?" Cortana asks.

"Probably not, if this thing is like any regular wolf, then they usually come in packs, which means this thing was a scout looking for any intruders that were encroaching its hunting grounds." John replied.

"Then it's best, we don't linger here for too long, soon his friends will hear the gunfire noise and head their way as we speak." Said Cortana.

John nodded and continued his route where the ship landed. As he continued his journey, he thought to himself on what matter of dangerous creatures he would have to face. Seeing a two headed wolf as big as a mongoose is something that you don't see every day, but what is even more concerning is that strange sonic wave attack that wolf conjures. The fact that such animals had abilities to send sonic attacks, seems very strange and unnatural. However, the spartan would put those thoughts aside, remains focused on the task ahead as try to navigate through the dangerous to where a strange wolf creature laid lifeless on the ground came more of its kind, however there were also four strange black clad figures wearing ancient garments with strange symbols. Furthermore, they also seem to be carrying wood stuff with an ax -like blade on top of stuff with a small blade tip at the end.

" By the devourer what matters, weaponry could have killed this argus." Said the first clad figures as he stared at dead Argus with a huge amount of bullet hole.

"Could it be the Cygnaran portal that killed the argus?"said the second figure.

"No, there would have been at least two or three dead bodies around the area" replied the third figure.

" Not mention the number of bullets that argus has received" the fourth figure response.

These four figures were sent by their higher ups to investigate the missing two head wolf beast called an Argus. When one of the beast handlers realized that one of the packs was missing. He immediately reported to his superiors about the missing pack. Therefore, the leader sent four of his students to find the missing pack and bring them as soon as possible. The four black clad wanders through the Thornwood Forest in search for the missing pack.

Eventually they find the missing pack, but until they discover one of Argus laid dead on the ground with kin circling the crops while mourning for fallen kin. One first they noticed was the number of bullets that beast received from the body and head. Then second was a shell case on the ground, which led to the theory that patrol came this way and killed argus. But if that is the case then it would be mauled by the surrounding area, and argus are a well-known fearsome animal and can kill 5-6 men with ease. Not to mention that their sonic attack can cause their suspect enemies to be distorted for a bit. Yet something or someone was able to kill a single argus with ease.

"We should return and report what we found to the overseer." said the third figure.

"I believe that is that beast course of action, but I suggest that we take the bullet shell left on the ground in order to bring proof of what transpire."

"I agree, we should also tell the beast handlers of the dead body and to bring it back in order to investigate more."

With that the four black clad would leave the area and gather other argus back to safe hold and report what they found. However, as they march back one of the black clad couldn't help but ask questions to his comrades.

"Hey, did you see that giant fireball that come down from the sky."

"Who hasn't, pretty hard miss something that big"

"Not to mention that every human kingdom saw that fireball crashing down to earth."

"You think it can be ill omen."

"Not sure if it omens or not, but it did cause quite a stir among higher ups, heck I heard they might have sent a small army to investigate the crash site."

"If they plan to send a small army to investigate it, then it has to be very serious, any idea who they are planning to send."

"Not yet, but if I have to guess it is probably the more famous member of the circle order such as stormwrath Krueger or Lady Morvahna."

Hearing those names was enough to shock the other black clad members and for good reason. For those two are the well respected and feared among their order. Krueger was well known for his radical ideas and action which cause to butt heads with Leaders of the circles. While lady Morvahna is a more conservative and very cold person who does anything to achieve her goals. They also know to dislike each other and have deep rivals within order always trying to outdo each other. There is no doubt in each of black clad minds that these two great individuals are trying to convince the leaders of the circle to be perfect candidates to investigate the crash site.

"Who do you think has best chance to take on tasks."

"If I have guessed it likely Lady Morvahna that has best chance of taking this task, mostly because the leaders are worried that Krueger may do something rash."

"Not mention, both Khador and Cygnar are mobilizing their force to investigate crash site as well."

"What about the Protectorate any word about them"

"So far, nothing, but wouldn't it surprise if their priesthood is preaching about the fall object as sign of their god."

Many agree on that statement, for their ancient order have been enemies with the Protectorate for a long time even before the kingdom was founded. For they know how zealots the people are, especially the priesthood that governed the people of the kingdom. Always preaching that their faith is the only true faith, and that lesser faith must purge from the world. Even that means through violent means in the end.

The four black clad mange to return their safehold where the overseer was waiting for their return. Just the like four black, he was also wearing dark robe with strange rune symbols on his clothing, but unlike them he also seems to be wearing strange stone like armor with emerald glowing from the rune like shape, not to mention he seem be carrying sword but instead of steel seem to be made of stone.

"Did you find the missing pack?" ask the overseer.

"Yes, we did my overseer, but unfortunately one of the argus was found dead by the time we arrived" replied the first black clad.

The overseer seems to remain silent for moments, until he responds again.

"Did you find the one responsible for the warbeast death?" he asked.

"No, but I did find a strange bullet shell where the dead beast lay." Second member answered.

"Show me." He spoke.

Second member gave the bullet shell to the overseer. Then the overseer would observe the strange bullet in his hand, he would continue for a few seconds until he responded again to his students.

"You may return to your quarter and rest for a bit, I shall inform the beast handlers to retrieve the dead Argus and see what kind of weapon kill it." Said the overseer.

With those four students went to their sleeping quarters for the day, while the overseer remained at the gate looking at an empty bullet in his hand. For all his life, he never had such a design before for this seemed a bit bigger than the average bullet that iron kingdoms use in their arsenal. Not to mention the burning objects coming down from the sky caused huge earthquake in continental. One thing, the overseer does know that it causes quite a stir among leaders of the circle. Whether good or ill things are about to get interesting in Iron Kingdoms.

In the kingdom of Cygnar, laid an average built man named Coleman Stryker with spike ginger hair that almost seems to define gravity somehow. He also seems to be wearing medieval armor but with smoke turbines in the back of the armor. He walks through the Thornwood with a small force that consists of trenchers, long gunner and storm knight marching in columns, along with this force are these large carriages that hold this big steam like mech called warjack. Some of these warjack compose light and heavy warjack for the long march. Coleman saw the burn object from the sky and how it crashed down somewhere in between Glimmerwood and Widower's woods.

Coleman would be lying if he wasn't terrified of the explosion that was made when it crashed onto caen. Of course he wasn't the only one who saw the explosion, Cygnar military leaders had ordered him to investigate the massive explosion immediately. Which, he took the order without question for he knew that if the entire kingdom saw it, their rivals may have seen too. After reaching the city of Corvus and gathering the troops from the barrack for the journey ahead. He meets with two people that would journey with him along. One was a slightly orderly male with dark hair that was wearing a trench coat over his small armor that had a smoke turbine in the back. He also carried twin pistols on both thighs, but these pistols seem more advanced than the one that regular army use. His name was lieutenant Allister Caine of Cygnaran Reconnaissance Service or CRS for short. They are the eyes and ears of the kingdom, from gathering intel or spying the enemy movements.

The second person was a brown hair female who was wearing a medieval like war with turbines in back as well. However, unlike Coleman and Allister she was carrying a spear, and seemed to have a steam prosthetic arm on her left. Her name was Captain Victoria Haley, skill fighter and respected commander who Coleman had fought beside in many engagements. After finishing their greetings, they begin their planning for the long march. Allister scouts reported that it would be a four- or five-day march, furthermore, they also report that Khador is also on move as well. Allister suggested the move out at once, and pushed their force in order to reach their destination before Khador did.

Both Coleman and Victoria agree, immediately order their troops to move at once. It has been two days as they march out from the city into Thornwood, with little rest and sleep the troop seem to be on the brink of exhaustion yet they keep on marching with grim determination. As Coleman continues to march with men, he spots Victoria with a concerned face, and soon he decides to walk next to her and have a bit of a conversation.

"Something on your mind Captain "Coleman asks.

"Just wondering in what Marrow name could have land on cean to cause such huge explosions'" reply Victoria.

Coleman furrowed deeply in thought, for he wonders on that was well, for all his military career he has never witnesses an event as this. Though Coleman would never admit but he was scary what they will find on the crash site, but he has his order from the higher ups from Cygnar military and reach the crash- site before the rival nation would reach it. He will see it through the end, no matter the horror that wait for him and comrades in arms.

" We will see what we find from the site, then decide the best course to handle the situation." Coleman spoke in confidence tone.

" Yes, Sir!" Shout Victoria

As the small army continue to march down the road, Allister would notice his rangers coming from out of the tree. Coleman saw them as well and order a halt, then he would march up to Allister and the rangers. Allister seem to be talk to ranger captain about intel they gather while scout up further from the rest of the army.

" Report!" shout Coleman.

"My rangers report that army from Khador are on the march to same location that we are heading." said Allister.

"Do we know what kind force this army is carrying?"

"From, we gather this force seem consist of men-o-war, winter guard and iron fang, though we also believe they may carry a squad of widowmakers."

" How many warjacks are they carrying with them?"

" They have least three to four warjacks most heavies."

" What about their leaders?

" We manga to identity three member that led this army, one is kommander Sorscha Kratikofff second kommander Izak Harkevich, and lastly is prince Vladimir Tzepesci of Umbrey."

These three warcaster are well known to Coleman for he has cash with them many times especially Vladimir who is very well duelist in his right. This information can cause bit trouble for Cygnar army, Khador have sent their best fighter against them in order to reach their distention. Coleman needed to come with plan against this force if they able to continue their mission, so he orders the rangers to continue their scouting on the enemy. Then, he asks Allister to join him to explain the situation with Victoria and begin their plans for battle that yet to come. Allister nodded and joined him to talk with Victoria, about the intel they have receives. Soon they were able to inform her about the enemy force, till she hears Sorscha name being the call out, which hard her eyes as she has encountered her many times in the past. The three Cygnar warcaster would begin formed a plan, Allister would take small force in order to flank the Khadoran, while he and Victoria would fight them directly in order to distract them. As they finished their plans, they order the trencher to load off the warjack from cart and start their furnace for the battle.

On the other side of the boarder, clad in heavy armor adorned with fur accents, reflecting her status as a powerful warrior from the northern Khador, wearing a distinctive fur-trimmed hat and carries a great hammer. This warrior is Sorcha Kraktikoff one of Khador greatest warrior and daring kommander against any enemy that threat the motherland. Next her is a dark hair handsome man wear ancient armor with huge shoulder pads, while wear a fur cloak behind his back. He also carried a great sword which carried runic symbol which show his status as a prince. This was Prince Vladmir Tzepesci a royal prince from Khador who rule the province of Umbery. He is very skill swordman in his own right for few can match his skill, expect for few key individuals. Behind him was another man but with huge frame and wearing red armor with smoke furnace on his back with black hair and long bread. In his right hand, he seems to carry a mechanic maze that would too heavy for normal people. This big follow is Izak Harkevich, he is very respectable fellow in Khador military not for his leadership or combat ability, but his compassion for his comrades and enemies. Despite what people may think about Izak being to kind, he still stands with his resolve to his men safe first and avoid needless death. Which have earned great deal of respect from both Sorcha and Vladmir.

The army of Khador have been march for two day with little rest, but they continue to march on. As they continue they receive word from their widowmakers scout that Cygnar have been seen in the Thornwood. Sorcha went explain the situations with both Vladimir and Izak about the situation and began forming a plan to counter and defeat their southern rival. They agree that Izak would remain behind with small force in case of ambushes. While Sorcha and Vladmir would confront that main force in order to distract them, while widowmaker pick off their officers and leaders. Soon they would continue their march to engage the enemy.

"You seem lost in thought, Sorcha is something on your mind?" Izak said in a worry tone.

" It nothing my old friend, just focus on the mission that all." She said with confidence voice.

Vladmir can tell that she wasn't being honest,for he was one of the few people that can get through her cold like personal. After-all he was her mentor during her past training as warcaster and decided to speak to know what on her mind.

"You know it okay to speak about your worries about this particular mission no one will judge you for it."He said.

she knew their no point hiding her worries from the two and state her concerns "it's just that high kommand sent us to investigate the fall meteor that crash next Glimmerwood, while we have no idea what are marching in to."

Both them can blame her since mass explosion that giant meteor cause huge commotion among for both royal and military. High kommand gather their best leaders and trooper in order to investigate to find what cause such a huge explosion. Their no doubt that it cause great fear among high ups, for this something they never witnessed their life. Heck both them would be lying if they say weren't scary all.

"Are you worried what we might find from the crash site?" Vladimir ask.

"Honestly , I do, but what I'm more worried is how affects the motherland as whole." She finished

Izak tired to come up with good answers but found nothing to eases her worries, for this unknown territory for all them.

"Whatever we find, we make sure that deal this together no matter what." Izak spoke with strong confidence voice.

Sorcha nodded to Izak words,despite lack confidence about situation. Still she would her duty full to motherland no matter what. Soon they able to face the Cygnar forces as they march to their destination. If only both force realized that third person was also on the march to site as well. Soon this third factor would meet this polar force, but whether he remain friend or foe is yet to remain see.

Hello everyone! This is my first fanfic I'm writing, for those that don't know this is a crossover between halo and Iron Kingdom. For those who don't have know what the Iron Kingdom is then let me explain.

Iron Kingdom is a fantasy setting that features a different kingdom using magic and technology that are fused to make an invention called Mechankila. These kingdoms battle out weather for pride, resources, survival or fortune in the Iron kingdom which result in many wars fought between most kingdoms such Cygnar and Khador. The setting does have dwarf, elves, troll, and other races but to learn if you go to Iron Kingdom wiki since it has more information than I provide with. In fact, I suggest you go on youtube and put a servant of nyrro which has a lot of lore you can watch.
