Chapter 3: Finding Tony
Central Park, New York City
Emerging from the shimmering vortex conjured by Master Yen Sid's formidable magic, Riku, Donald, and Goofy found themselves deposited into the pulsating heart of Central Park, New York City. The iconic park sprawled before them, a sprawling tapestry of greenery interwoven with the ceaseless ebb and flow of humanity.
The trio stood in awe amidst the vibrant chaos that enveloped them. Towering skyscrapers formed a majestic backdrop to the lush expanse of Central Park, their mirrored surfaces reflecting the golden hues of the high sun. The air was alive with the symphony of urban life: the distant honking of taxi horns, the rhythmic beat of street performers' drums, and the melodious laughter of children chasing after colourful balloons.
Riku's gaze swept across the vast expanse of the park, his eyes widening in astonishment at the sheer scale of the bustling metropolis before him. Donald and Goofy stood beside him, their expressions mirroring his own sense of wonderment as they took in the spectacle of New York's most famous green space.
"How are we going to find him?" Riku's voice broke the spell of silence that had enveloped them, his words tinged with uncertainty as he turned to his companions. "It's like searching for a needle in a haystack amidst all this chaos."
Donald and Goofy exchanged a glance, their brows furrowed in contemplation. Despite their years of adventuring together, the enormity of the task ahead seemed daunting even to them. But they knew that with determination and teamwork, they could overcome any challenge that lay in their path.
"Well, y'know," Goofy mused, scratching his head in contemplation, "Tony Stark's always been one for makin' a splash. Maybe if we make our way over to Avengers Tower, we'll have a chance at catching him there. It's gotta be worth a try!"
"Absolutely!" Donald said in agreement, he nodded vigorously, his feathers ruffling with excitement. "We haven't set foot in Avengers Tower since that massive shindig a couple of years back, the one where Ultron decided to crash the party. Who knows, maybe we'll bump into Tony Stark himself amidst all the superhero hubbub."
"But where exactly is this Avengers Tower? I mean, I've never set foot on Earth before," Riku admitted, a hint of uncertainty colouring his tone.
Goofy scratched his head, struggling to find the right words and remember his last visit to this world.
"Well, ya know, it's, um, it's..." he trailed off, his expression reflecting his own uncertainty.
Donald chimed in, his voice filled with realization.
"Actually," the duck mage replied. "We've only been to New York once, and that was from a different part of the city. We've never navigated our way from Central Park before."
Riku sighed in frustration, feeling a sense of disorientation in this unfamiliar world. But then, a spark of inspiration ignited within him. With a swift movement, he delved into his pocket, retrieving his Gummiphone.
"I wonder if I'll get a signal here," Riku pondered aloud as he powered on the device. "Worth a shot."
As the phone turned on and the home screen appeared, Riku's eyes widened in amazement as he noticed the strong signal bars displayed on the screen.
"Wow, that's a great signal," he exclaimed, marveling at the full bars and the activated GPS.
"What are you planning to do?" Donald asked, leaning in to see the phone in Riku's hands.
"Gummimaps," Riku revealed with a grin. "It should help us get to where we need to go."
"That's using the old noggin, Riku," Goofy said, a wide grin spreading across his face.
Riku quickly tapped away on his Gummiphone, typing in 'Avengers Tower'. After a few seconds, the map appeared, displaying directions for them to follow.
"Avengers Tower it is then," Riku affirmed, his voice resolute. "According to the map, it's not too far from here. Let's follow the directions on the phone and see where it leads us."
The trio set off, their steps purposeful as they weaved through the crowd. Central Park's vibrant energy surrounded them, but their focus remained on the task at hand. The Gummiphone guided them with clear instructions, its bright screen illuminating their path as they navigated through the busy crowds in Central Park.
Riku, Donald, and Goofy walked amidst the enchanting greenery of the park, the towering trees forming a natural canopy that cast dappled sunlight onto the winding paths below. The air was alive with the symphony of nature, the rustle of leaves mingling with the laughter of children and the chatter of park-goers.
"This place sure is pretty," Goofy remarked, his eyes alight with wonder as he admired the picturesque scenery. "Hey, Donald, remind me to bring Maxie here when we're done saving the universe."
Donald, walking alongside him, nodded enthusiastically, "Absolutely, Goofy! And remind me to bring my nephews too."
A warm chuckle escaped from Goofy at the thought of cherished family moments with his son, Max. Riku couldn't help but smile at their camaraderie, his heart swelling with a longing for the simple joys of companionship. Someday, he hoped, he would be able to enjoy peaceful moments like these with Sora and Kairi once more.
As the heroes ventured through Central Park, they bore witness to a multitude of captivating sights. Sleek joggers clad in athletic attire gracefully traversed the winding pathways, their synchronized footsteps creating a rhythmic symphony against the smooth pavement. Some jogged with unwavering determination, their focus honed on the path ahead as they pushed themselves to their limits. Others opted for a more leisurely pace, savoring the tranquility of their surroundings with each unhurried stride. The sound of sneakers meeting the ground harmonized with the gentle rustle of leaves swaying in the breeze, melding together to form a serene melody of movement.
Amidst the verdant expanse of the park, families and friends meandered along the winding paths, their laughter and animated conversation intermingling with the ambient sounds of nature. Children darted ahead with boundless energy, their delighted giggles reverberating through the air as they explored the hidden treasures nestled within the park's embrace. Tourists, enamoured by the splendour of Central Park, paused at various vantage points to capture snapshots of their New York adventure, each photograph a testament to the park's timeless allure.
"For such a bustling place, it's surprisingly serene," Riku remarked, his voice tinged with admiration as he walked in tandem with Donald and Goofy.
Amidst the vibrant tapestry of park-goers, the trio walked among the crowd, their appearance blending seamlessly with the diversity of the crowd. Their unique attire and distinctive features drew curious glances, but the bustling nature of the park meant they soon blended into the colourful mosaic of humanity.
As Riku, Donald, and Goofy continued to traverse the bustling paths of Central Park, their distinctive silhouettes caught the eye of a group of enthusiastic Avengers aficionados. Excitement crackled through the air as the fans spotted the familiar faces of the two esteemed Disney Town residents, their recognition sparking an eruption of fervent admiration.
With wide smiles and shimmering eyes, the fans surged forward to greet Donald and Goofy, their voices infused with palpable awe and reverence.
"Hey, you guys! We remember you from the TV! You helped the Avengers take down Ultron in Sokovia, right? That was absolutely awesome!"
Donald, his feathers standing on end with a newfound sense of importance, couldn't help but puff out his chest proudly at the recognition.
"Oh, you betcha! We gave Ultron a real run for his money!" Donald exclaimed, his tone laced with pride and satisfaction.
Goofy, ever the epitome of modesty, chuckled humbly as he basked in the adoration of their admirers.
"Gawrsh, it was nothin' much, really,' ' he downplayed, his trademark grin stretching across his face. "Just doin' our part to lend a helping hand and save the day!"
Captivated by the presence of their revered heroes, the fans eagerly requested to immortalize the moment with a photograph. One particularly enthusiastic fan, camera in hand, approached Riku with a hopeful expression.
"Hey, would you mind taking a picture of us with Donald and Goofy?" the fan asked eagerly, gesturing excitedly towards the duo.
Riku, ever accommodating, nodded with a warm smile.
"Sure thing!" he replied, accepting the camera from the fan's outstretched hand.
As the fan positioned themselves next to Donald and Goofy, Riku took a step back, framing the shot with practiced precision. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he couldn't resist adding a playful touch to the moment.
"Okay, everyone, say 'Iron Man'!" Riku declared, his voice filled with infectious enthusiasm.
In unison, the group echoed his words, their voices ringing out in unison.
"Iron Man!"
With a satisfied nod, Riku captured the perfect shot, the camera clicking at just the right moment to immortalize the joyous occasion.
"How's that?" Riku asked, turning the camera around to reveal the image on the screen, a grin spreading across his face as he beheld the beaming faces of Donald, Goofy, and their adoring fans.
The photograph captured the essence of the moment perfectly—the smiles of Donald and Goofy radiated genuine warmth, while the fans' faces lit up with unbridled excitement and admiration. It was a snapshot of pure joy and camaraderie, a cherished memory to be treasured for years to come.
"Wow, that's perfect!" the fan exclaimed, their eyes sparkling with delight as they gazed at the image. "Thank you so much!"
Riku returned the camera with a nod of satisfaction, his own heart warmed by the happiness he had helped create.
"You're welcome," he replied warmly. "Glad I could capture the moment for you all."
As the fan and the rest of the group walked off, Riku turned to Donald and Goofy with a smile playing on his lips.
"You guys really seem to be heroes here on Earth," Riku remarked, genuine admiration shining in his eyes.
"Well, it's not every day you stop a genocidal robot from destroying the world with a vibranium meteorite," Donald chuckled modestly, a hint of pride colouring his voice.
"Vibranium? What's that?" Riku asked, slight confusion on his features.
Goofy chimed in, eager to share his knowledge, "Oh, it's a rare and powerful metal only found in a place called Wakanda."
"This world sure is full of surprises," Riku chuckled, his eyes wide with amusement as he observed the unfolding scene.
Suddenly, from the depths of the crowd, emerged a fan with a rather unexpected declaration of admiration: a tattoo of Goofy proudly displayed on their arm.
"Hey there, Goofy! Big fan, big fan!" the fan exclaimed, revealing the tattoo with a flourish. "Got your face permanently etched onto my skin!"
Riku couldn't help but burst into laughter at the absurdity of the situation.
"Well, that's one way to show your appreciation," he managed to say between fits of giggles.
Donald's jaw dropped in disbelief, his feathers ruffled with a mixture of shock and amusement.
"Well, I'll be... that's dedication!" the duck mage added.
Meanwhile, Goofy stood there, his expression a mix of surprise and flattered bemusement.
"Gawrsh, thanks! I'm... honoured, I guess?" he stammered, unsure of how to respond to such a unique display of fandom.
"If it wasn't for you and Donald," he said, nodding respectfully towards the Kings Captain and the Royal Mage, before continuing "and your pal Sora, along with The Avengers, we'd all be toast thanks to Ultron."
Donald blinked in surprise, touched by the heartfelt acknowledgment.
"Well, uh, thanks," he stammered, his feathers puffing out with a mix of pride and humility.
The tattooed man then turned to Goofy, offering a crisp salute.
"And to you, Captain Goofy," he declared, his voice filled with sincerity, "for being a part of the team that saved us all."
Goofy returned the salute with a broad grin, his heart swelled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude.
"Gawrsh, it was our honor!" he exclaimed, his voice brimming with genuine appreciation and warmth.
Watching the exchange unfold, Riku couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion. The tattooed man's heartfelt gesture, coupled with the genuine admiration radiating from the crowd, painted a poignant picture of the power of heroes and the profound impact they had on the lives of ordinary people.
In that moment, amidst the bustling energy of Central Park, a palpable sense of camaraderie enveloped them all. Strangers became allies, bound together by a shared sense of admiration and gratitude for those who dared to stand against darkness and defend the light.
With heartfelt goodbyes and expressions of gratitude echoing in the air, Riku, Donald, and Goofy began to depart, carrying the warmth of the encounter with them as they continued on their mission. However, it seemed their mission might have just found them.
"Well, well, if it isn't the Mouse King's Captain and Royal Duck Mage," came a familiar voice to Donald and Goofy, brimming with enthusiasm and wit. "Talk about bumping into people or beings you least expect."
Donald and Goofy turned to see their old ally, Tony Stark - Iron Man himself, standing behind them. The billionaire, playboy, inventor looked at the three world travellers from behind his stylish, tinted glasses and his comfy-looking leisure gear, as if he had just finished a run or a long walk. Standing next to him was Pepper Potts, CEO of Stark Industries and Tony's steadfast companion. Pepper was dressed in what seemed to be comfortable leisure wear as well, her ginger hair cascading like a fiery waterfall, pulled back into a perfect ponytail that swayed gently with her movements.
"Tony, Pepper!" Donald quacked in excitement. "We've been looking for you".
Donald, Goofy!" Tony exclaimed, his trademark smirk playing across his lips as he greeted his unexpected visitors. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this fantasy rendezvous?"
"We've been looking all over for you, Tony!" Donald replied, excitement in his voice.
Tony raised an eyebrow in mock surprise, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Me? Well, aren't I just the luckiest guy in the world?" Tony quipped, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "What's the scoop, duck?"
Goofy nodded earnestly, his expression serious despite the whimsical surroundings.
"Master Yen Sid sent us to give you a heads-up, Tony," he said with caution. "There's trouble brewing."
Tony's grin widened, the glint of excitement evident in his gaze.
"Ah, the big guy himself, huh?" Tony remarked, his voice laced with intrigue. "Well, spill the beans, boys. What's the sitch that's got Master Yen Sid making a house call down to Earth?"
Riku stepped forward, extending his hand toward Tony.
"Tony Stark, I'm Riku. It's good to finally meet you."
Tony gave Riku a firm handshake, his gaze scanning the young man with a mix of curiosity and assessment.
"Likewise, Riku," Tony replied, his tone serious now, releasing from the handshake. "I remember Sora talking a lot about you and his other friend, what was her name.. Kirsten?"
"Kairi," Riku said, correcting him.
"That's the one," Tony said, slightly apologetic in his tone. "I knew it started with a K."
Pepper glanced at Tony and rolled her eyes at his comment.
"Tony..." Pepper remarked, her tone laced with playful admonishment. "Don't do this."
"Do what?" Tony asked innocently, turning to Pepper with a puzzled expression.
"Showing off and being his usual charming self," Pepper replied with a knowing smile, her eyes sparkling with affection for her eccentric companion.
"Ah, Pepper, you know me too well," Tony chimed in, flashing Pepper a roguish grin. "Can't help it if the charm just oozes out of me."
Pepper rolled her eyes again, but there was a fondness in her gaze as she looked at Tony. "You're incorrigible," she teased, her voice tinged with affection.
"What can I say? It's all part of the Stark package," Tony declared with an unrepentant shrug, his trademark confidence shining through.
Riku couldn't help but exchange a bemused glance with Donald and Goofy, silently conveying his disbelief at the larger-than-life persona of Tony Stark. Donald and Goofy, however, merely shrugged in response, as if to say, "Yep, that's him alright."
"Anyway," Tony continued, seamlessly transitioning back to the matter at hand. "Let's cut to the chase. What's this new threat we're dealing with?"
However, before Riku could answer, their conversation was abruptly interrupted by the sudden appearance of a man larger than life, stepping through a shimmering and sparkling portal. The man's presence seemed to command the attention of everyone present, his neatly styled hair adorned with two striking grey streaks on each side, perfectly complementing his meticulously crafted goatee. He exuded an aura of magical energy, his attire matching his enigmatic persona, with a large red cloak billowing around him. Addressing Tony directly, the man's voice carried a sense of urgency.
"Tony Stark, I'm Doctor Stephen Strange. I need you to come with me."
Pepper instinctively grabbed and tightened her grip on Tony's arm, her mouth agape in awe at the unexpected arrival. Tony, ever the master of wit and charm, couldn't hide his bewilderment at this sudden turn of events. Meanwhile, Riku, Donald, and Goofy exchanged puzzled glances, equally uncertain about the identity of this mysterious newcomer.
"Oh, uh, congratulations on the wedding, by the way," Doctor Strange added, his tone respectful as he turned towards Pepper, acknowledging the significant news with a respectful head bow.
Tony and Pepper exchanged surprised glances, realizing that their private news had somehow become known. Before they could fully process it, Goofy and Donald chimed in with their heartfelt congratulations.
"You're getting married?" Donald blurted out.
"Yeah..." Tony mumbled, still taken aback by Doctor Strange's arrival. "Surprise, I guess."
"Congratulations, you two!" Goofy exclaimed, his enthusiasm infectious. "Gawrsh, you're getting married! That's swell!"
Tony looked at Goofy with genuine appreciation for his kind words, a brief moment of warmth amidst the gathering storm. But his attention quickly returned to Doctor Strange, questioning their unexpected presence.
"I'm sorry, are you handing out tickets or something?" Tony quipped, his trademark sarcasm lacing his words as he regarded Doctor Strange with a mixture of bemusement and skepticism.
However, Doctor Strange's demeanor swiftly shifted to one of seriousness as he conveyed the gravity of the situation.
"We require your assistance," he declared urgently. "The very fate of the universe hangs in the balance."
Tony's skepticism remained evident as he pressed for more information.
"And who exactly constitutes this 'we'?" Tony asked, eager to find out more.
In a moment of unexpected revelation, Bruce Banner emerged from behind Doctor Strange, catching Tony off guard once again.
"Hey, Tony," Bruce greeted his old friend, but there was an unmistakable air of distress about him.
Tony's initial surprise melted into concern as he addressed Bruce.
"Bruce?" Tony's tone softened with genuine worry. "Are you alright?"
"Doctor Banner?" Donald questioned, his feathers ruffling with concern. "What's wrong?"
"Gawrsh, are you okay, Bruce?" Goofy added, his expression mirroring Donald's worry.
Riku watched on as Bruce stared at Donald and Goofy, momentarily taken aback, before offering a greeting of his own.
"Donald, Goofy, hi," the shaken man replied, his demeanor hinting at the weight of a recent trauma.
"Bruce," Pepper said softly, her voice filled with both friendliness and concern.
Tony's concern for his friend grew as Bruce silently approached and hugged him, the desperation and turmoil evident in his expression without the need for words. Tony understood, having witnessed the trials Bruce had faced.
"Bruce, you okay?" Tony asked, his worry etched on his face.
As Bruce continued to hold onto Tony, the group formed a circle, their expressions reflecting a mix of determination and concern, with Bruce still clinging tightly to his friend.
"Tony," Doctor Strange began to explain, "Thanks to Doctor Banner crashing through my roof, we are now aware of a threat that could threaten our very existence."
"Thanos," Riku interjected, his tone serious. "Right?"
"Yes," Doctor Strange replied, with a slight anxious tone.
"Thanos?" Tony questioned, with Bruce still holding onto him. "Never heard of him."
"He's a dangerous and ruthless being who will stop at nothing to achieve his goal," Riku explained. "We've seen what he's capable of, and we fear he's coming to Earth."
"And we need your help, Tony," Donald added, looking to the billionaire genius, who still had one of Earth's smartest minds holding onto him for dear life.
"That's why Master Yen Sid sent us," Goofy concluded, his voice filled with urgency. "He sent us here to warn you and seek your help."
Tony surveyed the determined faces around him, feeling the weight of their mission bearing down on him. But amidst the seriousness of the situation, there was one pressing matter he couldn't ignore – Bruce's clinginess.
"Bruce, buddy," Tony said with a strained chuckle. "As much as I appreciate the love, I think we're good on the hugging front for now."
"Oh, sorry," Bruce replied sheepishly, reluctantly releasing his grip on Tony.
Finally free from Bruce's affectionate embrace, Tony took a moment to gather his thoughts. The news of Thanos loomed large over them, but there was a strange levity in the air, courtesy of Bruce's unexpected display of affection.
"So, you all need Tony Stark's help?" Tony quipped with a half-smile, looking around at the assembled group.
"Yes," Riku affirmed, his tone serious. "Master Yen Sid believes you may hold the key to stopping Thanos."
Tony raised an eyebrow at the gravity of the situation before turning to Doctor Strange with a smirk.
"And you need my help too, Doc?" Tony asked, gesturing to Strange as he stood solemnly nearby.
Strange's response was wordless but conveyed a sense of solemn determination. Tony couldn't help but appreciate the silent agreement.
"Alright, fine. Count me in," Tony declared, his tone firm but laced with a hint of amusement. "But first, I need to get the lowdown on this Thanos guy."
Strange nodded, his eyes filled with determination, and began walking towards the portal he had conjured earlier. He glanced back at Tony, Bruce, Riku, Donald, and Goofy, their presence a testament to the gathering alliance.
"If you seek clarity and further understanding," he said, his voice carrying the weight of their impending mission, "step through, and let's talk."
Tony nodded, his curiosity piqued as he watched Strange disappear into the swirling vortex.
"Well, that's one way to travel," Tony remarked with a wry grin, a spark of excitement dancing in his eyes. "Alright, let's do this." And with a touch of humor, he added, "I hope this portal travel doesn't give me motion sickness."
Riku, Donald, and Goofy exchanged knowing glances, their experiences in traversing realms evident in their eyes.
"Actually, that's how we got to Earth in the first place," Riku revealed. "Portals are quite common in our travels."
Tony's fascination grew, and he couldn't resist making a playful jab at the concept of magic.
"Magic portal travel? Guess I'll add it to my to-do list," Tony quipped, his trademark sarcasm eliciting a chuckle from Donald and Goofy.
Before Tony could make his way towards the portal, Pepper stepped closer to him, her eyes dancing with playful amusement.
"Remember, we have dinner plans at 8, and I expect you to be there on time," she reminded him firmly, her tone teasing yet firm.
Tony chuckled, feigning innocence as he met Pepper's gaze.
"Of course, Pep. I wouldn't dare keep you waiting," he quipped. "However, it's not like I have portals to conveniently transport me across space and time."
Donald and Goofy joined in the laughter, their voices blending with the lively atmosphere of Central Park. Riku smirked at Tony's jest, a glimmer of anticipation in his eyes as they prepared to embark on their next adventure. With Doctor Strange leading the way, they strode towards the portal, their steps infused with determination and purpose, their journey unfolding amidst the bustling energy of the iconic park.
THE SANCTUM SANCTORUM
With the group arriving at the Sanctum and acquainting themselves with the surroundings of this mystical location, the ever-wise Wong took charge. With a wave of his hand, he initiated a display of cosmic proportions, using his magic to unveil the vastness of the universe and five out of the six Infinity Stones.
"From the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then, boom! The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals hurtling across the virgin universe," Wong explained, his voice carrying the weight of ancient wisdom. "These Infinity Stones each hold dominion over an essential aspect of existence."
As the stones glowed with immense power in Wong's cosmic hologram, Doctor Strange began to name them one by one.
"Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind. And Time," he declared, each stone lighting up as its name was spoken. The Eye of Agamotto, cradling the Time Stone, emitted a mesmerising emerald glow.
Tony Stark was captivated, his attention fully engaged. "
Tell me his name again," he requested, with a sense of urgency in his voice.
"Thanos," Riku replied solemnly, his voice carrying the weight of impending doom.
Bruce interjected, his tone filled with alarm, "He's a plague, Tony. He invades planets, takes what he wants, and wipes out half the population. He sent Loki, the one behind the attack on New York."
"So, this is it..." Tony muttered to himself, his mind racing with the gravity of the situation. "Tell me, what's our timeline?"
"Not long," Bruce replied in haste, urgency lacing his words. "He already has the Power and Space Stones. That alone makes him the strongest being in the entire universe. If he acquires all six Stones, Tony..."
Doctor Strange interjected, his voice filled with dread as he finished Bruce's sentence, "he could destroy life on a scale hitherto undreamt of."
After hearing this, Tony leaned casually against a cauldron nearby, stretching and limbering up as if he was preparing for a run.
"Did you seriously just say 'hitherto undreamt of'?" Tony asked, his reply a mix of curiosity and sarcasm.
"Are you seriously leaning on the Cauldron of the Cosmos?" Strange remarked with annoyance.
"Maybe..." Tony replied with a nonchalant shrug, still limbering up.
Amidst the banter, the Cloak of Levitation, the red cape around Doctor Strange, swatted Tony's arm as he leaned on the cauldron, surprising him.
"Ow! Okay, okay, I get it!" Tony exclaimed, rubbing his arm where the cloak had smacked him.
Riku couldn't help but interject with a sly smile at this interaction.
"Looks like even mystical capes have had enough of your sass, Tony," Riku joked.
Donald and Goofy erupted into laughter, finding Tony's predicament amusing. Even Doctor Strange couldn't help but crack a smile at the Cloak's mischievous antics. In their world of magic and mysticism, even the most mundane objects could have a mind of their own.
Regaining his composure, Doctor Strange nodded at Riku's observation with a grin.
"Seems like you've got a point there," he conceded with a chuckle. "Watch your back, Tony. Even the Cloak has its limits."
"Fine, I'll allow that one," Tony remarked, straightening himself after being hit.
"Best stay clear of any more Cauldrons or magical relics," Goofy advised with a grin.
Tony sighed and gave a little nod, but then brought the conversation back around to the issue at hand.
"If Thanos needs all six Stones, why don't we just dispose of this one?" Tony asked, gesturing towards the Time Stone around Strange's neck.
Doctor Strange and Wong both shook their heads at this idea, their determination unwavering.
"We swore an oath to protect the Time Stone, even with our lives," Wong declared, looking sternly towards Tony.
"And I swore off dairy," Tony revealed. "But then Ben & Jerry's named a flavor after me."
"Stark Raving Hazelnuts," Strange said bluntly with a sigh.
"It's not bad," Tony admitted.
"A bit chalky," Strange responded, clearly unimpressed with the ice cream named after him.
Wong chimed in, "A Hunka-Hulka Burning Fudge is our top pick."
"That's a thing?" Bruce asked incredulously, turning to Riku, Donald, and Goofy for confirmation.
"We're more into Sea Salt Ice-Cream," Riku replied, sharing a knowing glance with his companions, who nodded in agreement.
"Sea Salt Ice-Cream, huh?" Tony mused, shooting Riku an intrigued look. "Sounds like an interesting mix of flavours."
"It's definitely worth a taste," Donald insisted. "Trust us, it's a real treat."
"But I have to admit," Goofy added, "there's something special about Captain America's Red, White, and Blue Birthday Cake flavour ice-cream. It's like a party in your mouth!"
Donald couldn't help but shake his head in amusement.
"Oh brother," he sighed, giving Goofy a playful nudge.
Sensing the conversation veering towards a full blown discussion about frozen treats, Doctor Strange swiftly steered it back to the pressing matter at hand—the significance of the Time Stone.
"Our commitment to safeguarding the Time Stone remains unwavering," Strange declared firmly, locking eyes with Tony to emphasize the gravity of their duty. "It could very well be our best defense against Thanos."
"Then again, it could also be his ace up the sleeve against us," Tony remarked, a hint of arrogance colouring his tone.
Unruffled by Tony's jest, Doctor Strange maintained his composure, his response measured and devoid of irritation.
"Well, if we neglect our duties," Strange replied calmly, "we'd be leaving our reality vulnerable, wouldn't we?"
Tony, never one to back down from a verbal duel, couldn't resist a slight jab at Strange's expense.
"And what exactly are your duties, besides conjuring balloon animals?" Tony quipped, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Protecting your reality, douchebag," Doctor Strange retorted sharply, his retort cutting through the banter with precision.
A momentary silence hung in the air, the playful rivalry between the two superheroes briefly taking centre stage. Riku observed the exchange, recognizing the camaraderie intertwined with the weight of their responsibilities.
"Let's shelf this debate for now, guys," Riku interjected, seeking to refocus their attention.
"Riku's right," Bruce chimed in, supporting the silver-haired Keyblade wielder. "We know the whereabouts of the Time Stone, and we must locate Vision, who's out there with the Mind Stone, immediately."
Tony, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders like a heavy cloak, sighed and crossed his arms, a tinge of unease creeping into the atmosphere.
"Yeah, about that..." he began, his tone somber, drawing the attention of the group gathered in the halls of the Sanctum.
"What do you mean?" Bruce inquired, his brow furrowing in confusion at Tony's cryptic statement.
"Tony?" Goofy chimed in, his trademark grin faltering as he sensed the gravity of the situation.
Tony took a deep breath, his expression shifting to one of seriousness as he addressed the group.
"Two weeks ago, Vision went off the grid," Tony revealed, the weight of the revelation palpable in the air. "His transponder is offline."
"Aw, shucks," Donald lamented, his feathers ruffled at the news.
"Vision's gone missing?" Goofy interjected, his usually jovial demeanor replaced by concern.
Bruce, grappling with the complexities of the situation and unaware of the intricacies of the Sokovia Accords and Bucky's involvement in Tony's past, struggled to comprehend the gravity of the situation.
"But...how?" Bruce asked, his voice tinged with bewilderment. "How could we lose another super-bot?"
"He's evolving," Tony responded, his gaze unwavering as he relayed the unsettling truth.
"Alright then, who do we turn to to track down Vision?" Riku interjected, his determination clear as he sought to unravel the mystery surrounding Vision's disappearance.
Tony's response was a quiet mutter, barely audible but laden with frustration.
"Shit," he muttered under his breath before addressing the group more audibly. "Probably Steve Rogers."
"Oh, fantastic," Doctor Strange muttered sarcastically, his exasperation evident as he exchanged a glance with Wong, both equally disbelieving at the mention of Rogers' name. The tension in the room seemed to thicken as the prospect of seeking Rogers' assistance loomed over them like a dark, ominous cloud, casting shadows over their already troubled minds.
"Maybe. But..." Tony added, his voice trailing off with a hint of hesitation, the weight of unspoken grievances lingering in the air like an unresolved storm.
"Call him..." Bruce said, his tone serious, each word carrying the weight of unspoken history and fractured trust.
As he was 'missing' for the past few years, Bruce was unaware of the events that transpired because of the Sokovia Accords which left the Avengers fractured and broken. This didn't help also that Steve knew about Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier, killing Tony's parents in 1991, which was revealed by the scheming Zemo. This caused an even bigger rift between the two. Steve was now on the run and only left Tony a small flip phone to call him, in case of emergencies. Tony was hurt by all this and the trust in Steve Rogers had dwindled thanks to the secrets being kept from him and Captain America not signing the accords.
"Tony, Bruce is right," Riku agreed, turning his attention to Tony, who was still deep in thought. "We need all hands on deck."
Goofy nodded vigorously, raising his shield in agreement with Riku and Bruce's statement.
"We need Captain America, Tony," Goofy affirmed, his voice trembling with urgency, echoing the silent plea in each of their hearts.
"Guys," Tony remarked with a sombre voice, his words heavy with the weight of unresolved conflict and shattered alliances. "It's not that easy."
"But you and Steve were pals?" Donald asked, confusion lacing his tone like cracks in a fragile façade. "What happened?"
"I heard from Sora you two were pretty tight," Riku added, his voice tinged with a hint of disbelief, as if grappling with the inconceivable notion of their fractured friendship.
"So, what's happened Tony?" Goofy interjected, pressing for answers, the unspoken tension in the room palpable as they awaited the truth that lay buried beneath layers of mistrust and betrayal.
Tony sighed, the weight of unresolved tension hanging heavy in the air. He glanced around the grand hall of the sanctum, his eyes connecting with Strange. Strange knew what occurred between the two, and with a subtle nod from the Master of the Mystic Arts towards Tony, the gravity of the situation became palpable. It was as if the earth itself quivered with the knowledge of their fractured bond, a seismic shift in the foundation of trust and camaraderie that once bound the Avengers together, leaving them teetering on the brink of uncertainty and discord. With a heavy heart, he knew the truth had to be laid bare, no matter how jagged and painful it might be.
"The Avengers broke up," Tony confessed, his voice carrying the weight of resignation. "We're toast."
"Broke up?" Bruce echoed, his incredulity evident in the furrow of his brow. "Like a band? Like The Beatles?"
"The Beatles?" Riku queried, casting a bemused glance towards Strange, who nodded in confirmation.
"Legendary musicians," Strange interjected, his tone tinged with nostalgia. "Their breakup was a seismic event in popular culture here on Earth."
Goofy and Donald exchanged bewildered glances, struggling to grasp the analogy amidst the chaos of their current reality.
"Ok, so what exactly happened for the team to break apart?" Riku pressed, his voice steady as he sought clarity in the midst of turmoil.
Tony met Riku's gaze, recognizing the earnestness in his inquiry. There was a shared sense of determination, a mutual quest for understanding amidst the strangers in the room.
"Cap and I fell out hard. We're not on speaking terms," Tony admitted, his voice heavy with disappointment and unspoken regret.
"But why?" Riku probed, his eyes searching Tony's for answers. "Surely, there has to be a reason?"
"Oh, there is," Strange interjected cryptically, his gaze piercing as if peering into the depths of Riku's soul.
"You really want to know?" Tony asked, his tone blunt, his resolve unyielding.
Riku, Donald, Goofy, and Bruce nodded in unison, their determination unwavering. They craved the truth, no matter how jagged and painful it might be.
"Alright, here's the deal," Tony began, his voice firm as he prepared to unravel the tangled web of betrayal and fractured trust that tore the Avengers apart. "Steve is a pain in the ass and a liar. Not signing those Accords fractured the team, but that's something we could've worked through. But lying to me about Barnes killing my parents... That's a whole different ball game."
As Tony's words echoed through the room, each syllable dripping with the raw intensity of his emotions, a heavy silence settled over the group. Anger, hurt, and betrayal swirled around them like a gathering storm, casting shadows over their already troubled hearts. In that moment, the rift between Tony and Steve Rogers felt insurmountable, a gaping chasm of broken trust and shattered camaraderie.
"Sorry to hear this, Tony," Donald said, his voice soft and laden with sympathy.
"Yeah, wish we were here to help fix this mess with Sora," Goofy added, his usually jovial demeanor replaced with a sombre expression.
Tony's gaze softened for a fleeting moment, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes as he acknowledged their words.
"Well, you weren't. You were busy fighting that Xemnas guy to stick around. But it's life, guys," he replied, his tone carrying a tinge of resignation.
Despite the pain and disappointment that hung heavy in the air, there was a quiet acceptance of the harsh realities they faced, a silent understanding that sometimes, even the mightiest of heroes were powerless to mend the fractures of the heart. However, Bruce stepped forward, his face etched with a mix of hurt and anxiety. The team might be broken, but Thanos was coming, and they needed a plan, with everyone on the same page.
"Tony, listen to me," Bruce said, his voice firm and direct. "I'm sorry about what has happened. But let's face facts, Thor's gone. Thanos is coming. It doesn't matter who you're talking to or not."
Tony hesitated, grappling with his pride and the bitter aftermath of their discord. But Bruce's words cut through the turmoil, reminding him of the impending threat looming over them. Thanos represented a danger that transcended personal grievances, threatening the lives of countless innocents.
"Damn it," Tony sighed, conceding to the urgency of their situation. Bruce was right, and time was running out.
"Doctor Banner is right," Riku interjected, his voice echoing the urgency of their predicament. "We need everyone if we want to stop Thanos."
Tony glanced at Riku, acknowledging the wisdom in his words. They couldn't afford to let past conflicts hinder their ability to confront the looming threat.
"Any chance you can call Sora to lend a hand?" Tony asked, grasping for additional support. "His spirit and that Key of Destiny would be invaluable."
"Afraid not," Riku replied with a regretful shake of his head. "But we have other friends out there willing to aid."
"I hope you're right..." Tony murmured, his thoughts drifting to the uncertain future that lay ahead.
With a determined resolve, Tony retrieved the flip phone that Steve had left him years ago, a relic from a bygone era but now a vital lifeline in their battle against Thanos. As he held the outdated device in his hand, a mix of nostalgia and frustration washed over him, a reminder of simpler times before the weight of the universe rested on their shoulders.
"The phone looks ancient," Donald remarked, breaking the momentary silence with an observation.
"It is, duck," Tony replied wryly. "Haven't used one of these in what, ten years?"
"You Earthlings don't have Gummiphones?" Riku inquired, pulling out his sleek device from his pocket.
Tony raised an eyebrow at the futuristic gadget, his expression a mix of amusement and disbelief.
"We have much more advanced mobile devices than this," Tony explained. "But I guess it gets the job done, Raiden."
"Raiden?" Riku muttered to himself, exchanging puzzled looks with Donald and Goofy.
"He does bear a resemblance," Wong remarked softly to Strange, who nodded in agreement.
"Metal Gear games," Strange explained with a nostalgic smile. "Classics."
Before Tony could make the call, an unusual rumbling caught their attention. The wind picked up in the Sanctum, its whistling noise becoming louder and more ominous with each passing second. Tony glanced around, noticing the movement of hair from Strange's head and feathers on Donald.
"Say, Doc, Duck - you guys wouldn't happen to be moving your hair and feathers with your magic, would you?" Tony questioned, observing the strange phenomenon.
Doctor Strange looked up at his fluttering forelock and shook his head.
"Not at the moment, no," he replied, a hint of confusion in his voice.
"Me neither," Donald added. "I don't remember casting an aero spell."
Suddenly, the wind intensified, and the sound of machinery clattering together echoed through the Sanctum. Tony's heart raced as he looked upwards to the large, Hulk-made hole in the Sanctum roof. The noise grew louder and more chaotic, as if something massive was hovering just outside.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Riku admitted, also looking at the hole in the ceiling, his senses tingling with apprehension.
"Me too," Goofy added, a chill running down his spine.
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the grand doors of the Sanctum. The noise of people shouting, screaming, and panicking filled the air. The grinding sound grew deafening, causing car alarms to blare in alarm. Something was coming, and it spelled chaos.
Rushing to the door, Tony flung it open in haste to investigate. His breath caught in his throat as he beheld the scene unfolding before him. Debris flew by in a chaotic frenzy, and the city streets below were consumed by pandemonium. People ran and screamed in terror, while traffic became impossibly tangled, with cars crashing into each other amidst the gusts of wind carrying litter in their wake. It was a scene of utter chaos, as if the very fabric of reality itself was unravelling.
It seemed New York had a new guest arriving, and not a welcoming one at that. Tony looked back to Riku, Bruce, Donald, Goofy, Strange, and Wong with a sense of dread, but his eyes conveyed a silent determination. They needed to act, to stop this chaos and protect the innocent lives caught in the crossfire.
"We need to help and stop this chaos," Tony declared, his voice resolute as they prepared to face whatever awaited them outside the safety of the Sanctum.
The fate of the world and the universe hung in the balance, and they were the only ones who could stand against the looming threat of Thanos.
