An Answered Prayer.

Walter was just coming back from a friend's house. They had a great time together and he was so happy, he was weirdly bright and breezy. Plus, the weather was just as he loved, misty, warm and calm gentle winds.

He went straight to the pallor, wanted to talk to his mom about something. And then, he walked in on a worthy of note scenery.

His dad and mom were sitting on opposing couches and there was this fine guy, his age, sitting with his mom in the couch that's in the middle of them. The guy looks just like him and he thought, 'this might be a very close relative, maybe a cousin, one I've always wanted to have. Niccccce.'

He walked in, went straight to his mom and called her by her ancestral name, the name their grandma used to call her with, and then his dad, by the name they genially call him with. They were buddies with their parents.

'fanta howfar. Alhaji yane.'

'dedie wai.'

'lafiya wai.'

Normally, his mom would tell him who the woman was, maybe their aunty, and ask him to greet her. But today, he didn't wait for an introduction, he saw a buddy and he was so excited, so he greeted her right away, and went on and shake the boy.

Then as he was about to go out, Mrs. Denis asked if the boy wanted to join Walter.

'Joseph, kanaso ka bi dan'uwankan nan ne?'

'Yes ma.' He answered in Hausa.

He had a back pack with him, filled with his clothes. Walter helped him carry it and then they walked out together. He was so happy that he have finally found a bro.

As they went to his room, after some formalities, they told each other their names, where Joseph was coming from and then boom, he dropped the bomb.

He told Walter that he was his brother, half brother.

The way Walter reacted, it shocked Joseph.

He jumped up in happiness, started laughing and he hugged him and said, 'God has finally answered my prayers.'

Joseph was like, 'huh what the fuck!'

And then Walter was like, 'yeah, I've always wanted a brother my age. One we could be like twins, maybe have a lot in common or not, but we will be best friends.'

'And you know that means your mom's heart will be heart broken right? I wouldn't want my mom to go through that at all.'

'Don't worryyy…..my mom will be alright. She's one of the most strong, and peaceful women out there. Plus, she went through this already, twice, this is the third time and honestly, all that matters to her is how we take it. If we're ok with it, then she's ok. Come let me show you.'

They went back to the pallor and then Walter asked his mom, 'Bubongsy, this is my brother?'

She answered, 'yes, brother ka ne.' she didn't know how to speak English, like at all, just the basics, but she understands it, the basics too. Normally, she would reply in their language, but she was very considerate, and knowing that the new woman and her son aren't their tribe, she didn't want them to feel uncomfortable, that's why she's responding everything in Hausa.

And then he told her this, 'Bubongsy don't worry. I was the one that prayed for this to happen, I've always wanted a brother my age and prayed to God that just as they brought Naomi, one day they will bring a boy my age. So, this happened because of me.'

They all laughed so hard, Walter and Joseph joined them.

And then, he hold Joseph's hands and they ran out like kids… and they were 22.

Their parents now have something to talk about.

Surprisingly, they have the same taste in music; it's like looking at his own playlist. They watch the same TV shows, and they have the same taste in fashion. It was unbelievable. That was when Walter realised that God loves him more than he can imagine and he didn't even know what he did to deserve it.

And when the others found out about joseph, they welcomed him with open arms. And the reason was solely because Joseph was incredibly handsome and good looking just like them. And of course, because they were good and cool people too.
