Prologue
Awakened.
"Are you sure this is the one?"
Her brother merely nodded. "But she's just a child." The bright one argued. "We do as we're told." The dark one said. "We don't ask questions." The bright one frowned. "But how do we know this is even going to work?"
"We don't." He rested his hand against the child's head. "Are you sure this won't hurt them?" The dark one sighed. "Sister."
"Yes, yes. I know." Resting her hand on the child's forehead she closed her eyes.
Awakened.
"See Obi-wan. I told you he'd come here."
Anakin gaped at his master and grandmaster. "Obi-wan? Master Qui-gon? What are you doing here?" Obi-wan crossed his arms. "We could ask you the same thing." "I came here to help Ahsoka." "What about Coruscant?" "You were supposed to deal with that."
Obi-wan sighed. "Anakin. You can't just hop in a ship and go to Mandalore!" "But I just did." "That doesn't mean you should have!"
"Anakin?"
"Ahsoka?" "What are you doing here?" "I'm here to help you." He said, happily.
(A/N: Why is he acting like this is "A Not So Normal Week"? IYKYK)
Rex looked from Ahsoka to his general. Bo-Katan sighed and dragged a hand down her face. "Okay, Skywalker's here. Great. Let's go now." Ahsoka held out her arm, stopping Bo-Katan in her tracks. "Hold on a second. Maybe you should stay here, Anakin."
He frowned. "Stay here? No. I came to help." Ahsoka nodded. "Yes, but-" "So, I'm going to help." Ahsoka sighed. "Fine."
"I've got a bad feeling about this." Rex muttered as the doors opened. "And I'm not even Force-sensitive."
Seeing Maul, sitting on her sister's throne like he owned the place made Bo-Katan's blood boil. Without thinking, she drew her blasters and charged at him. Every blaster bolt was re-directed by the waving of Maul's hand.
Bo-Katan was barely half-way to Maul when she was lifted off her feet and Force-chocked. "My lady, is that any way to treat your rightful ruler?" Maul released her and they hurried to her side.
"And now," Maul continued. "Is a show of good faith. I'll return your comrade in arms to you." The cuffs around Jesse's wrist were unclasped with a wave of Maul's hand. "Go on. There you go, back to your brothers."
"Are you alright, Jesse?" Rex asked, catching his brother as he stumbled. "I'm sorry, Commander. I couldn't help it. I told him everything." "It's okay." Ahsoka reassured him then turned to Rex. "Rex, get him out of here."
Once Rex was out of the room the three turned to Maul. An explosion outside made the room shake slightly.
"Oh. Uh, one of you might want to take care of that." Maul said, grabbing their attention. "You should go." Ahsoka said, turning to Bo-Katan. "Your people need you." Maul stood up and walked toward the window. "Don't stay on my account, we'll be fine."
"Go." Ahsoka urged. Bo-Katan put on her helmet and hurried out of the room. Leaving the three Jedi alone with the dark sider.
(A/N: Here we go. Let's hope I don't butcher this.)
"Skywalker, Kenobi." Maul said, pacing in front of the throne. "I expected you two to come alone. After all, didn't they kick you out of their Order, Tano?" "I left voluntarily." Ahsoka corrected.
"Y-yes, but you were motivated to leave because of the hypocrisy of the Jedi Council." Ahsoka just stared at him. She didn't know what to say to that. Because he was right. Maul continued. "We were both tools for greater powers."
Ahsoka took a few steps closer to Maul. "I am here to bring you to justice." Maul raised a facial marking.
"Oh? Well, what are Kenobi and Skywalker doing here then?" Ahsoka glanced back at the two Jedi. Honestly, she didn't know why they were here. "We're here to help Ahsoka." Anakin said, stepping up beside his former padawan. Obi-wan followed suit, stepping up to Ahsoka's other side.
Ahsoka fought the urge to smile. It felt good to stand next to them again. Fight by their sides. Just like old times.
Maul sighed. "Justice is merely the construct of the current power base. A base which, according to my calculations, is about to change." "And Darth Sidious behind it?" Anakin frowned. Darth Sidious?
"He is behind everything. In the shadows, but soon, very soon, he will reveal himself." "With your help." Ahsoka said, slowly. "The Jedi can stop Sidious before it's too late." Obi-wan turned to her in surprise. "Ahsoka?"
"Too late!? For what!? The Republic to fall? It already has and you just can't see it! There is no justice! No law, no order. Except for the one that will replace it. The time of the Jedi has passed." Maul took a deep breath. "They cannot defeat Sidious. But together, you and I can."
Anakin and Obi-wan looked at each other. Had Maul forgotten they were there?
(A/N: No. But the author did.)
"Every choice you have made, has led you to this moment."
At that very moment an explosion shattered the large windows a few feet away from them. But no one flinched. Ahsoka stood there, thinking for a few seconds. Anakin's patience had worn thin. "She's not going to help you." He snapped, pushing Ahsoka behind him.
"Wait, Anakin." Ahsoka pushed past him and looked at Maul's outstretched hand. "I will help you." "Ahsoka..." "But you must answer one question." "You have but to ask." Maul said, leaning closer. Almost desperately. "What do you want with him?" Ahsoka asked, motioning towards Anakin.
Maul looked at him. "He...is the key...to everything." "To bring balance to the Force?" Obi-wan asked, stepping forward.
Maul almost laughed. "To destroy. He has long been groomed for his role. As my master's new apprentice."
Anakin stumbled back a few steps. Groomed?
"You lie." Ahsoka said, in disbelief. "I'm afraid not, in fact I was so certain of his fate that I orchestrated this war to lure him here with Kenobi." He said, looking at said Jedi. "To kill him. Thus, depriving Sidious of his prized pupil."
Ahsoka felt anger well up inside her. "I know Anakin." She said, igniting her sabers and acquiring a fighting stance. Obi-wan followed suit. "Your vision is flawed."
(A/N: I'm not even going to try and re-create the fight scene because I know I could never do it justice. It was too beautiful.)
"That was...most impressive." Obi-wan said, climbing to his feet. Ahsoka nodded. "Get...get Anakin out of here." Obi-wan glanced back at his former padawan, still seemingly dazed, and nodded. "Right. Be careful, Ahsoka." She nodded then jumped out the window she'd thrown Maul out of moments before.
Sliding down the side of the Mandalorian complex (A/N: IDK what it's called. Google wasn't very helpful.) Ahsoka looked around for Maul. Glancing to her right she saw him scrambled up the side of a building and hurried after him.
"No, wait!" Maul ignored the Mandalorin's shouts and turned off his comlink, continuing across the wires suspended above the city. He stopped seconds later upon hearing Ahsoka's lightsabers ignite behind him.
"Obi-wan was right." She declared as he turned around. "You are difficult to kill."
(A/N: The fight scene here was too beautiful as well. But yeah, Maul is notcaptured. Ahsoka let him go. I had to do it for the story to work.)
"What happened to Maul?" Qui-gon asked. "He escaped." That was a lie. The older Jedi master gave Ahsoka a look but didn't push it. "I see." "Where were you?" She asked, changing the subject. "Oh, me?"
Now it was Ahsoka's turn to give Qui-gon a look. "Yes, you. Can you tell me? Or is it 'Jedi business'?"
"No Jedi business here."
Ahsoka froze, she knew that voice. But it couldn't be. "Satine?" Ahsoka hurried to hug her old friend. "But...you died." Satine shook her head. "Kenobi and I faked my death to throw Maul off my tail. You did capture him, right?" "Uhh."
"Satine!" Ahsoka relaxed. Thank the Force. Obi-wan had perfect timing. "What are you doing here?" He asked, checking her over. Satine laughed. "I'm fine, Kenobi. I'm here because this is my home. These are my people. I wanted to help."
"Sister?"
Qui-gon looked from one Kryze sister to the other. "We'll leave you two alone."
"Is Anakin okay?" Obi-wan nodded. "Yes, he should be fine. The Chancellor escaped." Ahsoka frowned. "What do you mean 'escaped'?" They stopped walking and Qui-gon turned to Ahsoka and Obi-wan. "The Chancellor was Darth Sidious."
Ahsoka swallowed. "It's not...that surprising...to be honest." Obi-wan stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Yes, but it must've been quite a shock to Anakin." Ahsoka turned to him in surprise. "You told him?" "What? No. But I assume you did, Master."
Qui-gon shook his head. "It'd probably be better if you told him. But not now, I got a message from Senator Organa not too long ago. Padme's gone into labor."
"Padme's what!?"
