"Look I'm just saying she had it coming."
"YYYYYYYYYYYYYangggg."
"What? Ruby I'm in the right here."
"yang." Ruby took a deep breath. "There is a thing called overreacting and what you did can't be called anything else."
"She Cut My HAIR." Yang yelled.
"You sent her to the infirmary!"
"So."
Ruby growled. "Yang I'm serious you can't just do the first thing that comes to your mind. What if you do something you're going to regret later."
Yang let out a laugh. "Come on, I sent her to the infirmary, not a grave. It is combat class Ruby we spar."
"Come on Yang Arslan is training to become a huntress just like us."
Yang shook her head. "Ya well now she knows not to mess with people's hair. Besides, she was threatening me."
"Yang you told her you were going to put her weapon up her, her … up her."
Yang's eyes turned red. "Well she snatched my hair so I was going to shove it up her snatch … it makes perfect sense … stupid yo-yo I don't even know how it was able to cut my hair. But I only said I would. I didn't actually do it. So what's the problem?"
"I'm … I'm going for a walk." Ruby split off from her sister as she thought about finding Arslan's team and apologizing to them.
Yang watched her go then shrugged as she continued to her team's dorm. "She'll get over it."
She closed the door behind her as she stepped into her dorm. Throwing her jacket on the top bonk of her bed, Yang moved into the bathroom to check the damage.
She saw in more detail what she had suffered. Most of her main reached her waist as it should but in the farthest right side there was one cm missing and it went up a whole 8 cm. That strip of hair now ended closer to her midriff than her waist.
Yang's eyes turned red again as she tried to control her emotions. Many thought her emotions controlled her semblance but sometimes Yang thought her semblance controlled her. That is what makes her act without thinking … or that is what she keeps telling herself.
She never held scissors before … well, never hair scissors and never while looking in a mirror. Her dad always cut her hair even now that she had moved out of the house and was away from home. After he did they would spar so she could get her aggression out. He always kicked her ass … or Yang would definitely make him work for any victory he may have gotten.
Yang's shaky hand brought the scissors up. What was she even doing, she didn't know and she had no clue on where to start. She needed to do this herself as she didn't trust anyone else to fix this. She brought the scissors to her waist. Maybe she should cut it here so it was even. But that would mean she would have to cut all of her hair at that level.
"Damn it."
Yang slammed her fist into the countertop, why was this so difficult? Dust flew into the air from the impact as she rested the hand holding the scissors on the counter too. Yang took a deep breath to calm herself only to
*cough*
Yang waved her hand in front of her to try to clear the dust before trying to start again. This time she brought the scissors to the back of her neck. Maybe if she cut that strand she could leave most of her hair long. But then it would just take even longer to grow out to the length of the rest of her hair. That wasn't a good idea so what else could she
*Achoo*
Yang pulled her head up from the sudden movement and put her hands on the countertop.
"Damn dust."
First her throat now her nose, she really shouldn't have hit the counter. There was nothing she could do about it now but maybe she did have anger management problems. Yang shook her head to clear that ridiculous thought … only to feel her head tilt to one side. Wanting to know why the weight seemed off she focused on the mirror.
Her whole body froze at what she saw. She could see over her shoulder to the wall behind her. Unlike the curtain of gold that blocked such a view over the other shoulder. With mounting horror Yang looked down. Only to see a pool of gold on the floor.
Her hair …
Her golden locks …
That she put so much time and effort into
Half of it was cut at her neck
Someone
Had
Cut
Her
Hair
Yang's eyes turned red as she looked at herself in the mirror as one thought went through her head.
NO One Touches The HAIR.
Ozpin slowly walked down the halls of Beacon, disturbed by recent events. He was trying to delay the conversation ahead but he knew he couldn't ignore it. He frowned as he passed a weeping Ruby Rose as her two teammates tried to comfort her. As he continued on he spotted a man in a police uniform standing outside a dorm with yellow tape over the door.
"Officer Burnstin what do you have to report"
"My name is actua oh nevermind. The victim, Yang Xiao Long as you know, was in her dorm alone with the door locked but the window was open. She was found in the bathroom and by its state there was a large struggle. From the wounds the sick bastard beat her to death with her own weapons. Then put them on her wrists as if to make it look like she did it to herself." He felt ill thinking about this sick-o.
Ozpin thought over all the information. "And do we have any suspects?"
"Well earlier in the day Ms Xiao Long sent one Arslan Altan to the infirmary with life threatenin' injuries. We don't have proof that any of her teammates did this but personally my money is on Nadir Shiko bein' the killer"
Ozpin hummed. "Any particular reason."
"Well ever since I ran into this one crazy midget I've never trusted anyone with pink hair again." Vale's #1 cop had to use all his willpower to suppress his rising anger and disgust at the memory.
'Bitch stole my ice cream!' He shook his head, remembering the worst day of his life wouldn't help him do his job.
"I can understand that but we need evidence not guesses Burnnu."
"It was a woman." A third voice cut in. A man came out of the dorm room, the clicking of heels following behind him.
Ozpin turned. "Oh officer Joelle what makes you so sure."
Vale's #0.1 cop let out a sigh at the name that was not his. "Aaah you see as my partner in anti crime said the purp used the victim's weapon to kill her thus they would have needed to have similar sized hands and wrists as all hunters' weapons are customized for them."
Ozpin sipped his coffee. "It could have been a short and skinny man, like the one Burnara suggested."
The first officer nodded his head, still convinced of the evil of pink hair.
"Aah I was thinking the same thing as you ceee, but witnesses outside were able to hear the victim's voice over the fight. Due to the expletives they heard such as 'bitch, whore, cunt and I'll rip your clit off and feed it to you.' seems to point in the same direction. So with that and the use of the victim's weapon seems to indicate the attacker was female." There were a few moments of silence as they considered what he said.
Glynda, who had been ignored so far as she stood nearby, couldn't take it anymore. "You can't be serious, right?"
"Well that does narrow down the suspects to half the school which is better than the whole school." Ozpin looked her way. "We need something."
"No not that. Are you really ignoring the obvious solution?" Glynda received blank stares. "Ms Xiao Long killed herself."
…
"Hahahaha" "Hahahaha" "Hahahaha"
All three men laughed.
"Thank you Glynda. Things were getting depressive here. That helped. Sometimes laughing is all you can do to stop from crying." Ozpin recovered first only to see her face. "Oh you are serious?"
"Well what do we have here? Someone who thinks they know more than officers that have been doing this for decades."
"Yeah cee, what do you know that we don't?"
"Going through your points. First the camera outside the building shows no one coming in through the window." Glynda started her explanation.
"Well cee that could just be due to one of you hunters types and your fancy semblances. Becoming invisible."
"You can use that logic on everything! And no evidence would ever be worth anything. Furthermore all the damage in the bathroom was done by a body or gauntlets. So if the perpetrator was wearing the gauntlets why aren't there any impacts of Ms Xiao Long's fists."
"The perp could have had their own gauntlets."
"Yeah, and they got swapped in the fight … twice … cee."
"All of the wounds are on her face and at an upward angle. A fight wouldn't have hits in only one place, they are messy." Glynda felt exasperated. "Why aren't there any defensive wounds on her forearms?"
"Hunter semblance thingies?"
"Cee she could have been tied down cee."
"Then the room wouldn't have signs of such a struggle." Ozpin hummed. "Very well Glynda why did Ms Xiao Long do this to herself? What could possibly give her a reason to do this?"
"Ms Xiao Long has been known to have anger management issues that lead to violent tendencies. When I saw the body I noticed her hair had been cut, something she is known to be protective of." Glynda appreciated that someone was listening to her.
"Glynda, you bring up many valuable points. I won't deny that. However you are telling me that Ms Xiao Long killed herself by punching herself in the face. All while screaming obscenities that people outside heard. Because she accidently cut her hair?" Ozpin got a nod in response and sighed. "Glynda, that is a hard thing to believe. To be brutally honest it sounds stupid. No one could be that dumb … even a teenager."
"Yeah why don't you leave things to the professionals cee."
The two cops chuckled at her explanation.
'Idiots!' Glynda thought as she walked away without saying anything. If Ozpin wanted to waste his time looking for a nonexistent killer then he could do it without her.
"I'd like to thank the Vale police department for assisting with this event. I wish you luck in your investigation. Officer Joyry. Officer Burnfree." Ozpin nodded to both of them.
The two officers walked off as they were dismissed. Ozpin stayed thinking about what he was told and what he should do. The disturbing thought of Yang's mother killing her own daughter flashed in his mind but that was a bit much even for Raven. He was not looking forward to having to tell her father or uncle what happened but that wasn't even his biggest problem. A student had been murdered in his school and that was unacceptable.
He clenched his fists on his cane. He would find whoever did this and make them pay. No matter the resources, time and reincarnations Ozpin would find them.
No matter the cost.
