Chapter 8: A Green Rabbit's Attitude
After the duel, DogDay sat on the ground with a sigh.
"Darn…" He said, "I sure do need to reevaluate my deck."
Bubba stepped forward to offer a hand to DogDay.
"I'm impressed with the word you've chosen." He said as he got DogDay up,
DogDay chuckled a bit and scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah…" He said, "I guess you went easy on me with your Cyber Dragons, huh?"
"Yes, I was." Bubba replied, "I didn't want to use my full power on a friend of mine for years."
"Really?"
"Well, there is something that you and CatNap should go to with us."
CatNap got up as he, Bobby and PickyPiggy walked over to Bubba.
"And where are you taking us to?" CatNap wondered,
"A tournament." Bubba replied,
"Ooh, a tournament?" DogDay said, interested, "Tell us more."
"Well, it's basically a tournament with the Duel Monsters card game. 16 of us are dueling for a chance to become a Master Ranked Duelist."
PickyPiggy smiled.
"Me and Bubba are qualified!" She said, "I mean, my deck isn't the best, but it's worth every dime!"
"Oh, that's nice." DogDay said, "Bobby, are you qualified?"
"Uhh… No." Bobby replied, "I don't think my deck is good enough for this tournament…"
"Huh? Why not?"
"It's because she's using cards that she loves!" A Feminine voice replied,
Everyone heard the voice as it sounded familiar to them. PickyPiggy smelled something in the air.
"Peppermint." She said, "I smell someone eating peppermint to give themselves a clean, but very strong smell."
"Damn, smelling another critter's breath, huh?" The Feminine voice said,
Everyone turned to a green rabbit girl in a sweat jacket and sweatpants. She appeared to be eating peppermint candy to give her a good smelling breath. She also had a charm around her as a lightning bolt.
"Hoppy?!" CatNap said,
"Hoppy HopScotch?!" DogDay said,
"Hoppy…" Picky said, "Well, fancy seeing you here."
Hoppy swallowed the peppermint candy she was eating.
"Fancy seeing you losers here as well." She said, "...Except for you, Bubba."
Bubba shook his head and sighed.
"Alright then…" He said, "How's KickinChicken?"
"Oh, my boyfriend?" Hoppy wondered, "He's doing good."
"Jeez, for a flat critter like you, I'm shocked ya got a man." PickyPiggy said,
"Pfft! My personality and eyes are the only things that's gonna make KickinChicken love me! …And the crap we do together. High risk, but very rewarding."
"Like watching two critters wrestle in a car?" DogDay said, "You two like to watch urban sports which makes no sense!"
"Wait, that's a sport?" Bobby said,
"That and extreme slapping." Bubba replied,
"And extreme tag." CatNap said,
"Well at least THAT'S entertaining!" DogDay said, "Hell, we grew up with tag, so that gets a pass."
Hoppy went over to CatNap.
"Well, look at the cat that defeated Kicken." She said, "You're gonna sign up for the tournament?"
"...I still haven't made a decision yet." CatNap replied,
Hoppy chuckled.
"Alright, whatever, but I have something for you and DogDay." She said,
"For us? What is it?" DogDay wondered,
"A friend of mine and Kicken is hosting a party at his place tomorrow night. Wanna come by a bit? It ain't a big house party. All we're doing is chilling, drinking fruit punch and listening to some music."
"Oh, sure, as long as it's nothing major like drinking alcohol or disturbing the peace, then I'll be there!"
DogDay turned to CatNap.
"What do you think, CatNap?" He asked him,
CatNap sighed.
"I guess I should go there for a bit." He said,
"Good!" Hoppy said as she lightly punches CatNap on his right shoulder,
"Oww!"
"Be there or be square, suckers!"
Hoppy walked away. CatNap rubbed his right shoulder.
"Did she have to hit me?" He wondered,
"I guess that's a way of telling you that you're still her buddy." DogDay replied,
"No she's not. Remember what I told you about how she and KickinChicken flipped the fingers at me during the last text messages I had with them?"
"...Oh, now that you mentioned it…"
"That's what I thought. Besides, as long as they're gonna try and toy with me, I'll be sure as Hell to screw up their fun."
"Woah, let's not get a bit violent." Bubba said as he cuts in,
"Violence is sometimes my best bet of getting out of situations like KickinChicken pressuring me with his words."
"...You do you. DogDay, please work after him."
"Don't worry, I always do." DogDay said,
Bubba sighed.
"Anyways, it's been meeting with you two again." He said, "Should we see you tomorrow at lunch?"
"Uhhh… Sure." DogDay said as he turned to CatNap, "You don't mind company, right?"
"...Just don't be loud."
Bubba chuckled.
"Alright, it's decided then." He said as he turned away, "Take care everyone. I shall be heading home."
Everyone said and waved goodbye to Bubba as he left. CatNap and DogDay left together while Bobby and PickyPiggy were still in the courtyard. Bobby looked at her deck of cards that are considered her favorite.
"...Are you sure my deck is good enough for whatever tournament Hoppy mentioned?" Bobby asked Picky,
Picky looked at Bobby a bit surprised.
"Come on, Bobby, I'm sure it's fine." She replied, "I mean, it's not competitively good, but casually it's good."
"Ok, now you're just saying random things." Bobby said, surprised as well,
"Come on, Bubba taught us these more mature words throughout our lives."
"Well that's true, but…"
"Hey, don't worry about it. I'm sure it's good enough."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, positive."
PickyPiggy stretched her arms.
"Alright, I'm gonna head home." She said, "Take care now, Bobby."
"Alright." Bobby said,
PickyPiggy walked away as Bobby sighed and blushed.
"Picky…" She said, "When do I tell you how I feel about you?"
