Ulrich362: True, but before anything I should apologize about the mistake in the previous chapter. I intended on Emily using her Kuriboh in the match with Dr. Crowler but that wasn't enough to win the duel. She was supposed to summon Blazeman and not Ankuriboh during her last turn.

It was shortly after the entrance exams and Jaden, Emily, and some of their classmates were currently on a helicopter flying to Academy Island.
"Attention new Duel Academy students, if you look outside your windows, you'll see your new home away from home," the helicopter pilot announced in a monotonous tone as he was still piloting a large helicopter meant for transporting the new students towards Duel Academy as everyone looked through the windows excited, "Now, now. I know you're excited, but don't shove. Quite a sight, eh? Now, fasten your seatbelts and send your seats back to a right position. We're going up to land. Next up, Academy Island."
Shortly after landing all the new students were told to gather in the main auditorium for some important announcements about the coming few years. Thy arrived as thy waited before the screen right in the middle of the auditorium had a little bit of a static problem, but was quickly overwhelmed a few seconds later when a bald man with a beard popped into the screen.
"Good morning and welcome, my students! I'm Chancellor Sheppard, headmaster here! And you, are the best and brightest young duelists in the world! Now please, get yourselves settled in at your assigned dorms! I think you'll find them quite comfortable, depending on how you rank, of course!"
"Rank?" Emily asked turning to Syrus who was next to her. "What does that mean?"
"Well uh... I think it means how tall we are in the Academy." Syrus answered.
"Let's take a look at the Blazers." Bastion suggested as they went up.
When they arrive they see a student having an argument with some teachers at the blazers, "Yellow!? I said Blue! Blue, not the Yellow Rank! I'll have you know, I'm of the Jinzo Legacy rival to the Cyber Legacy, and have some place here in the top!"
"It doesn't matter who you are. We respect your skills, and academic achievements, but you never went to a Prep School so you have to be set to Ra Yellow until you better yourself to be an Obelisk Blue." one of the teachers tried to disarm the situation to him but the student wasn't having it but Syrus blinked in shock when he heard the student say 'Jinzo Legacy'.
"Jinzo Legacy...? No way." Syrus said in shock.
"Jinzo Legacy, does that mean he's a strong duelist?" Jaden inquired.
"Way more then that. The Jinzo Legacy was a Dueling Strategy Style made centering around the monster card Jinzo that focuses over control on the field, and limiting the opponent's strategies on Traps, and Attacks at the same time. Unfortunately they come rarely due to the Cyber Style being more influential." Syrus explained.
"Do you use the Cyber Style then?" Emily asked curiously.
"Well... Not me, that was my older brother, and the best student from that style." Syrus said looking down.
"Would you just take it already!?" a student yelled at the Jinzo Legacy student having enough of his complaining.
The Jinzo Legacy student growled before snatching the blazer from the teacher, "For heaven's sake, there's no respect for such a well respected style around these days...!" He walked off as he said this.
Syrus shuddered slightly at that as the four of them walked to get their blazers, Syrus then Bastion, then Emily, and then Jaden. A female teacher handed Emily a blue female uniform while the male handed Jaden a red male version.
"Huh, but I didn't go to a prep school and my scores weren't much better than Jaden's. Shouldn't I be in red with him?" she asked in confusion.
"Sorry but for now Obelisk Blue is the only rank we have that Girls can have with a dorm that is appropriate." the female teacher explained.
"So, any girl is automatically Obelisk Blue no matter how skilled she is?" Emily asked before frowning and looking down uncertainly.
"I'm sorry for any inconvenience this brings." the teacher apologized.
Emily just nodded taking it with a frown. 'I've... never spent that much time away from Jaden, he's my brother and my best friend.'
"Hey lighten up sis!" Emily felt a slightly rough pat on her back which happened by her brother with a grin, "This separation isn't gonna last forever ya know!"
"Jaden..." she whispered before nodding with a small smile. "It'll be a little harder to keep that promise you made me though."
"Hey you got some girls your age to hang around with anyway. You need to spread your wings, and try to make friends with girls." he told his sister.
"Hey, I have friends." she pouted before turning to the teacher. "Where can I find the girl's dorm?"
"It should say where on your PDA. It acts as your GPS, Phone, and everyday reminder. If you lose it we are authorized to give you a new one; for a small fee of course." the teacher answered.
She nodded before walking off leaving Jaden, Bastion, and Syrus on their own.
"Be careful out there!" Jaden called to her.
She soon arrives at what looks like a white castle with a big blue room that has multiple windows, and large gates. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Is this a dorm or a palace?"
"Hey!" Hearing that she looked to see a woman was there waving her over, "Come on in, or your gonna miss the welcome feast!"
"Oh, thanks." she replied walking over. "My name's Emily Yuki, it's nice to meet you."
"So your one of those people who schooled Crowler." the woman said closing the door as Emily takes a look at her after walking in.
She has brown hair with a zigzag bang at the front wearing a large version of her blazer that's unbuttoned showing a pink shirt that's sleeveless, and shoulder strapless that exposes a bit of her cleverage with blue cuffs at the ends of her sleeves, a long blue skirt while having on earrings that has a blue gem, and a smaller white gem below it, and blue shoes.
"Well it's wonderful to meet you. I am Fonda Fontaine, the Headmaster of the Obelisk Blue Girl's Dorm, and also the Nurse of Duel Academy. If you have questions, any problems, or feel sick be sure to come talk to me either here, or at the Infirmary." the woman, Fonda, introduced herself with a slight bow.
"I will, thank you." Emily nodded bowing back before looking around and slowly walking to sit at one of the tables for the welcome feast before nothing a blonde girl next to her. "Excuse me, can I sit with you?"
Said girl looked over before smiling, "Sure, come on."
"Thanks, my name's Emily." she smiled back.
She sat down as the girl smiled, "I'm Alexis Rhodes nice to meet you." She gestured to a red haired girl, and a black haired girl, "And these two are my friends."
"I'm Jasmine, girlfriend." the red haired girl grinned with a peace sign.
"Name's Mindy there." the black haired girl waved with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you three." Emily smiled.
"We seen your duel with Crowler with that kid." Jasmine said to her before asking, "Are you two like going out?"
"What, no! Jaden's my twin brother!" Emily answered before shuddering.
"Oh okay, that explains the resemblance." Mindy admitted before chuckling, "But I have the way, I like the way how you both destroyed him by using a monster who's points are less then 1500 against his Golem."
"Oh, you mean Elemental HERO Blazeman?" Emily asked only to frown. "Honestly, I got really lucky. I doubt I'd have passed on my own."
"Lucky? Nah, what helped ya got here was skill... Though you need to lose that hesitance." Alexis admitted.
Emily couldn't help but laugh. "That's the goal at least, honestly there are times a facedown Monster Reborn can scare me off of attacking for so many turns... when I can make a move I do but... well Jaden was supposed to push me to take more risks but I don't think that'll happen."
"Well you just need him to spectate your duels right?" Jasmine suggested.
"I guess... then again well, you know how brothers can be right?" she asked. "You love them but sometimes they just annoy you to death."
That made Alexis gave an annoyed sigh with closed eyes, "You have NO idea."
Emily just smiled at that.
Meanwhile at the Slifer Red Dorm...
"This is assigned to me, and you." Syrus said looking around at a bit of a dark room, "It's a bit dark."
"Yeah it needs some light." Jaden said pulling the curtains.
"Hey! Those were closed for a reason!" an angry voice burst out surprising them while Jaden shut the curtains.
They looked up only to see a large boy who looked like a koala staring at them.
"Ah, bear!" Jaden and Syrus screamed.
"Would you stop screaming?!" the panda-looking boy snapped, already irritated.
"Oh, sorry." Jaden apologized.
The boy's response was a rather rude one as he turned his back on them and laid his head comfortably in his pillow, confusing the two new roommates, and there friends, as he explained "You're new here. So, let's me tell you how things work around here."
"What things?" Jaden asked him.
The boy answered, "Duh! Like how the whole color thing works? That's more important than anything! You've got three different kinds of students here! Obelisk Blue students, Ra Yellow students, and Slifer Red students. Now, the Blues are the highest-ranked students; some kids are blue because of their grades, others through connections. The Yellows are second highest; mostly younger students with lots of potential. Then, there are us: The Red Wonders."
"Red Wonders, that sounds good." Syrus mentioned.
However the boy pointed out, "As in, 'I wonder how flunkies like us ever got this far,' maybe. Yeah, sorry. But we're bottom of the barrel down here. Dueling duds. Oh, I'm Chumley Huffington by the way."
Hearing that Syrus looked down in defeat. "Oh..."
"Hey don't let that bring ya down Sy!" Jaden patted his back a bit forceful, "The only way down is up, so now we gotta work our way up!"
Hearing that Syrus nodded. "Yeah, you're right Jaden."
"You two will figure it out soon enough." Chumley mentioned.
"Hey, my sis is an Obelisk Blue right now so if she can reach it there, then we can too." Jaden told him.
"Your sister is lucky, all girls are automatically put in Obelisk Blue." Chumley told him.
"Hey my point is that we can reach it to." Jaden pointed out.
"Whatever, you'll just end up disappointed." Chumley mentioned.
"Come on Sy. Let's munch up." Jaden said to him.
"Alright." Syrus nodded at that.
Meanwhile...
Bastion walked in with his tray before seeing the same Jinzo Legacy Student was sitting alone eating silently with the other students staying away out of fear of him. Noticing that Bastion walked over. "Mind if I join you? If memory serves you performed rather well on your entrance examination."
Hearing that the Jinzo Legacy student looked over, "You aren't scared of me?"
"No, I can't say that I am." Bastion replied.
"Well your lucky." the Jinzo Legacy Student said as Bastion sat next to him, "I saw your duel against that guy. That Destruction Ring move you pulled was interesting cause you took damage to win."
"Your words flatter me, but there are definitely skilled duelists at this academy that I would like to come up with formulas to defeat. I would count you among that number." Bastion admitted.
"Formulas huh? So your a scientist, or just a math wiz?" the Jinzo Legacy Student asked him.
"Just a duelist, but one who always sees the formula for victory. Perhaps I'll get the opportunity to show you one day." Bastion smiled.
"Hn." the Jinzo Legacy Student only shrugged taking another bite before swallowing telling him, "Name's Makoto Inotsume by the way."
"Bastion Misawa." Bastion replied calmly.
Later at night...
BEEP BEEP BEEP
Emily's PDA started ringing.
"Huh, what?" she asked yawning as she reached over and looked at it through have closed eyes.
Who was there was a boy with black hair while having a blue blazer with a smirk, "Hello Miss Yuki. You don't know me but I know your brother, and you think cause you, and him beat Crowler you both are gonna be the new King of Games? Well why not try, and prove that at the Duel Arena, just us." The message ended with that.
"A duel now?" Emily asked before yawning. "It's too late for that, I'll respond in the morning."
She put her PDA back down before yawning again.
BEEP BEEP BEEP
Frowning she picked her PDA up again. It was the same boy in the last one, "PS: If you back down, I'll instead go for your brother. After all there's way a girl like you can beat a guy like me." The message ends with that.
Seeing that her eyes shot open before she frowned sending a response.
"Tomorrow, Alexis told me we can't duel this late."
"What's going on?" Alexis asked with a yawn waking up from hearing the earlier messages before Emily had a chance to send it.
"Oh, sorry for waking you up." Emily apologized before showing her the messages.
Alexis seeing them frowned, "Chazz knows that duels at Off Hours are prohibited... And my guess is that he doesn't intend to let you know."
"I should warn Jaden, so he doesn't do anything reckless." Emily started before pausing. "Actually... no."
"Actually, I think you should take Chazz's challenge." Alexis said, and when she saw Emily's confused look she explained, "As long as we avoid getting spotted, you, and Chazz can duel each other. He also insulted you, and threaten Jaden so you have a reason to teach him a lesson."
"Well, that and honestly... I came to Duel Academy to try and take more risks... in dueling and in life." Emily nodded before taking her PDA.
"Alright whoever you are, I accept your challenge. Meet you at the Duel Arena in... fifteen minutes?"
Alexis helped Emily put her glasses on as they work on getting dressed.
Later at the Duel Arena...
Emily, and Alexis arrived at the arena where Chazz, the tanned haired boy, and the tanned boy we're waiting as Chazz smirked in her direction, "Glad to see you didn't back down, four-eyes. I half-expected you would."
Emily frowned at that. "You left Jaden out of this right?"
"I'll get that Slacker later cause now, I got you to deal with." Chazz answered, "But I'm a man of my word, and like you asked as long as it's just us, then I'll leave him out of this."
She nodded at that before activating her Duel Disk.
"Get her Chazz!" the blue haired boy called.
"Show her, that her beating Crowler was a fluke." the tanned boy said to him.
"Oh, I intend that, and more." Chazz smirked.
"DUEL!"

Reborn Zombie lowered down sacrificed before flaming tendrils grabbed Absolute Zero as he struggled being pulled to Chazz's field against his will. Emily's eyes widened seeing that before looking down. "I... end my turn."
"I'd say, she's in some trouble." Alexis looked over seeing Bastion along with Makoto walking in.
"Chazz Princeton..." Makoto trailed off seeing his upperclassman, "One of the three Princeton Brothers of the Princeton Group, and he studies his opponents to use their strategies against him."
Emily's eyes widened at that before frowning and looking down.

"Ah, I'm sorry, did I made you upset?" Chazz smirked drawing, "Well, that's good for me. Now onto the duel, I summon Chthonian Soldier!"
What rose was a black armored fiendish like solider holding a sword letting out a battle cry.

The soldier growled charging forward raising his sword up before jumping up slashing downward. Emily braced herself as the sword hit her. (Emily: 1800/Hand: 1)
"Then Absolute Zero finish her!" Absolute Zero flashed an apology look to his duelist before slowly charging an ice blast in his hands as cold mist gathered in them.
Emily just looked down as her own monster charged an attack to finish her, or would've if it wasn't for this...
"Kuri kuri kuri!" a voice called in her mind.
'Huh, Ankuriboh?' she thought.
She looked in her hand seeing Ankuriboh was in her hand as it winked to her before directing down to it's effect. Looking her eyes widened. "I... I discard Ankuriboh to use its ability and summon a monster from the graveyard... I pick, Elemental HERO Flash in defense mode!"

'You saved me... I should have read your effect earlier.' she thought looking at her graveyard moments before Flash shattered.
"What?" Chazz asked shocked seeing this, "A monster that works like Monster Reborn except during battle?"
"Quite a useful monster that is." Bastion said seeing that.
"But still even if she dodged that, she's still at a disadvantage due to Absolute Zero, and Chthonian Soldier at the same time." Makoto said as they turned to Emily.
They noticed she looked nervous. 'What do I do now? Absolute Zero is the biggest threat but even if I summon something strong enough to beat it he can use its ability against me.'
'Emily...' A soft voice said in her mind before what appeared was a transparent white warrior with red orbs, and lines over her body. This was her ace, Elemental HERO Core, a rather difficult monster to summon, but is also a rather powerful card, 'You can mange to turn the tides in this battle. But right now, you need my help more then ever against this endeavor. Now thanks to Hero Signal you can call one of us from the deck, and be able to turn the tides against this arrogant human. Stratos is calling you to summon him for you!'
Emily nodded doing what Core told her. "I play Hero Signal, it lets me summon Elemental HERO Stratos from my deck."

The HERO that earned her, and Jaden's victory rose up.

Core charged in striking Soldier destroying him. (Chazz: 2500/Hand: 0) But Chazz gave a smirk as Chthonian Soldier's sword flew out of the smoke, and struck Emily. (Emily: 0300/Hand: 0)
"W-What was that?" Emily asked kneeling down.
'Are you okay Emily?' Core asked her worried.
"Y-Yeah..."
Chazz laughed, "Ya like that!? When Soldier is destroyed from an attack, you take the same amount of damage, I had taken."
'We'll see how he's laughing when he knows what I can do.' Core grinned before telling Emily, 'Now use my ability on Absolute Zero!'
Emily nodded. "When Core battles I can destroy any card, and I destroy Absolute Zero."
Core fired a blast that destroyed Absolute Zero as she ended her turn.

"With this since my Soldier's summoned, I get to summon 2 more from my Deck, Hand, or Graveyard!" Chazz called as two identical soldiers appeared both sides of the first.

"And then you summon many monsters as you can from your hand, Deck, or graveyard as long as their the same as one monster on your field." Chazz told her before adding, "But with Core a Fusion Monster, you don't summon those other copies."
Emily looked down nervously hearing that.
"Then, I use the Equip Spell, Chthonian Alliance!" Chazz called as his final face-down was revealed.

"With this my Soldier gains 800 points for every other monster with the same name!" Chazz called as the soldier grew very large. (ATK: 1200 + (800 * 3) = 3600)
"3600!" Emily asked in horror. "That's more than Core!"
"And it's gonna prove that loud, and clear!" the powered up Soldier raised it's sword up.
Core quickly turned, 'Emily quick! Hero Barrier!'
Blinking she just played the trap.

A barrier appeared blocking the attack.
"Huh what?" Chazz asked shocked.
"It blocks an attack, but, now it's over." Emily frowned. "You have two more Soldiers."
Chazz growled before looking at his drawn card was was a Infernal Incinerator, 'Even if I summon this it'll lose 1000 points due to both my other Soldiers... She wouldn't dare attack since both my other Soldier's will deal her big damage... I got this in the bag.' He smirked before calling, "Fine, I end my turn, four-eyes!"

Emily blinked. "You're not attacking with your weaker Soldier?"
'It doesn't work like that Emily.' Core told her before telling her, 'It's effect only activates when it's destroyed from an attack by an attacking monster. He didn't say it entirely.'
Her eyes widened hearing that.

Emily 3rd Turn:
Emily drew looking too see she drawn Miracle Fusion, and the other card in her hand is Monster Reborn. Suddenly an idea crossed her mind which made her eyes widen: An idea of victory which made her grin.
Chazz blinked seeing that, "What you smiling for?"
Alexis hearing something cried, "Ah! We need to get moving, security is heading this way!"
"What?" Makoto asked surprised.
"Duels after hours are prohibited!" Alexis answered to him.
Chazz grunted, "Grr, you just got lucky four-eyes! Your a sorry duelist, your victory against Crowler was a fluke!" Emily was about to retort when Alexis pulled her with her, Bastion, and Makoto while Chazz, and his cronies escaped ending the duel.

With them safely out Alexis smiled to Emily, "Well, that was a quick escape don't you think Ems?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
"Well disappointing it had to end like that." Bastion admitted.
"Yeah, cause it was getting interesting." Makoto said to them, "It would gone either way though."
"No, I had figured out a winning move." Emily argued to them.
Alexis blinked. "Well, why don't you tell us what it was tomorrow, we all need some sleep before class tomorrow." Alexis suggested noticing Emily was practically falling asleep since her adrenaline from the duel was wearing off and she was woken up by Chazz.
"No, I'll tell ya now." Emily yawned before reaching showing them her hand along with a new Fusion Monster; Elemental HERO Sunrise before showing her top two cards to be Monster Reborn, and Heated Heart, "Sunrise gives all my Elemental HEROs 200 points for each monster with a different Attribute, and Heated Heart gives a monster 500 points. And if a HERO other then Sunrise attacks it can destroy a other monster in play."
They all looked amazed as they realized what would've happened; she revives Stratos which can destroy Alliance going down the boost, and then summons Sunrise to give them all 600 points along with Heated Heart which allows Core to overwhelm the soldiers enough to deal enough damage, and Chazz wouldn't activate Soldier's effect to deflect the damage due to being out of points.
"It could work in theory." Bastion admitted.
"For now we should all get some sleep." Alexis mentioned.
Emily yawned more hearing that.
