Meanwhile, Nova arrived at the Osborn mansion with butterflies in her stomach. She forgot how large their house was, for it has been years since the last time she was here. Oh, how Nova wishes they would meet up at her house instead. It may not be larger and grand than the palace she stands before, but it was simply comfortable and inviting. Unlike this place. Nova could not explain what it was but it did not feel like a home.
"I'm just hanging out with Harry," she told herself as she went to knock on the door. as she expected, the door opened to reveal a friendly face.
"Hey, Nova. Don't be a stranger, come right in," Harry beckons her inside.
Once she did, they both headed to the kitchen, which looked like a showcase.
"Are you hungry?" Harry asked as he dug into the fridge.
"Uhm not really……"
"Thirsty? We have Pepsi," he jiggled a can before her.
She could not help but smile, "Yeah, that will do."
Harry tossed it to her as he went to grab a few other things. Nova watched him intrigued by what he was doing before following him once more into the living. Setting the snacks down on the table.
"Are we expecting more company?" Nova asked but he shook his head, "Then what is all this for?"
"I thought we could relax. Just the two of us," Harry smiled at her.
She raised a brow at him, "Where are your parents?"
"Mom is out and my dad is in his office," he pointed at the two large doors behind them, "Don't worry, he hardly leaves that room," Harry spoke as if this was typical.
"So you're always alone…."
"No, I have you," he kept smiling before parking himself on the couch. Nova joined him. "Besides, this gives us some personal one-on-one I've been wanting to have for a long while."
"Oh, I have not noticed," Nova smirked at him, "So, you got my full attention," she said so coolly but really, she was nervous.
"Well first off, how about you move closer?" Harry said as he hooked an arm over her shoulder, pulling her towards him.
Nova's heart was leaping in her chest as she leaned against his. My, he felt so warm that Nova wiggled in her hoodie.
"Why don't you take off that," he whispered as his hand slipped to unzip the thick hood off her.
But Nova stopped him, "Wait! what are you doing?" she drew back from him as she clung to her hoodie shut.
"Taking your hoodie off," he said a bit confused, "Are you hot under there?"
"Yes-I mean no!" Nova let out but did not know how to respond and feel her face blushing.
"Hey, you don't have to be embarrassed around me. You are beautiful," he said to her, which made her head raise.
"No I'm not…." she mumbled before turning her gaze away from him, but Harry cupped her face to turn to face him. his face was close to hers.
"You are, Nova," he said looking her straight into her eyes, "And you know I don't lie."
Nova was taken aback by this before realizing Harry was moving deadly close.
"Harry?!"
The two quickly jumped apart and sat on each side of the sofa, sweating.
Norman stepped out of his office and approached them both from behind.
"When I say your room was off limits, I would expect you to be courteous on having your girlfriend over," he said.
"Uhm Mr. Osborn, I am just his friend," Nova corrected him.
Norman raised a brow, "If I was not mistaken, I just swore I saw you two cutting it close to becoming something else?"
"Dad, it's complicated," Harry murmured.
Norman rolled his eyes, "You teens make things complicated," he said as he joined them on the couch. making things more awkward than it was before. "So, what do teenagers do these days of age?" he asked.
"Uhm… oh! Harry, you have the game crash auto?" Nova asked.
"Oh yes!" Harry got up, "I have it up in my room. I'll be right back!" Harry said as he got up.
"Wait no! It's okay—and he is gone…." she mumbled before looking at Norman who was sitting next to her.
He smiled at her, "Nova, is that your name?" she nodded, "What do you think of my son?" he asked.
"He is a cool guy," she answered but didn't know what to say but felt awkward.
"Cool guy?" he repeated, "Is that all you can think about him?"
"Well no…. he is smart and can be overbearing sometimes, but I like him as a person and do wish we were more," she admitted.
"Then what is holding you back?" he hummed as he leaned his arm over the couch.
"Well," she thumble over her thoughts, "I just don't know about my future."
Norman looked intrigued. "Is that so?"
Nova nodded, "Yeah, I know Harry is going to college and I'm not sure what I am going to do with my life after high school."
"I see," he rubbed his chin, "So you are in a predicament with yourself?"
Nova nodded.
"Don't worry," he placed a strong hand on her shoulder, "You are still young and there are so many more opportunities for you than you think. You just need to find yourself first," he smiled at her.
She smiled back before they could hear someone rushing down the stairs.
"I'm back!" Harry announced as he went to set up the console on the large flat screen on the wall.
Suddenly, a cell phone rang.
"You two continued to have fun," Norman said as he got up and pat Nova on the head, "Keep my son's hands to himself, okay?"
Nova chuckled, "I'll try," she said.
Norman nodded as he went off to answer the call into his office, closing the door behind him.
"Yes? Ah, Dr. Octavious… mhm…. yes…. So he got away?" he creaked open the door, "Don't worry about him, I have another test subject I need you to study as well."
Once he ended the call, he had a twisted smile.
