Tales of the Multiverse Bit 116

I had an offer that you can't refuse.

While walking across the streets of Neo-City, Buccaneer "Buckles" Murphy, Gillian "Gill" Norman, Akatora Tsujimiya and the Creepy Guy came across a suspicious-looking mad scientist at an alley.

The story opens in a town called Higanbana which located somewhere at the Anima Continent of Remnant and this is the place where the Cross Guards, consisting of Cecily Campbell, Chad Mordetzky, Darren Cross, Karizza Stronghold, Laura Bodewig, Luke Ainsworth, Maya Sparrow, Raya Amanda, Sandalwood, Squigly & Leviathan, Sylvia van Hossen and Wesley Bryans, are currently having their mission.

And what's their mission?

Earlier back in the Training Camp of Neo-City, the Soldier and the Medic had informed them that several Emotionless were sighted in a forest near Higanbana, and knowing that the sudden presence of these strange creatures could cause fear to it's villagers.

Fear that might attract Grimm and could cost more trouble, so that's why they were sent there to get rid of the Emotionless.

In this mission, they are joined by Herald, however the solo hero's objective is to recruit a certain group of hunters-in-training which leaves the team to deal with the Emotionless.

Currently, we see the team walking around the forest behind Higanbina while looking around for the Emotionless sighted in the aforementioned area.

"Okay..." Darren uttered, "... according to the villagers, they saw some white creatures resembling of a bipedal reptiles around this forest." he explained, "Definitely the Emotionless and on how many, I had no idea.'' he stated.

Raya smirked, "Heh! If those Emotionless are a hundred or more, then I'll be glad to take them on.'' she expressed.

"Don't get cocky, Raya.'' Sylvia chided, "This is your first time facing an Emotionless.'' she reminded.

"Pffft!" Raya scoffed in response, "Puh-lease, I can take them.'' she declared rather cockily.

"Oh~ Emotionless!~ Come out and play~" Karizza called out in a sing-along tone.

Chad let's out a loud chuckle, "Haha! Emotionless won't come out by simply calling them.'' he pointed out which made Karizza pout at him.

Luke then turns to Cecily, "Will you be okay taking on these creatures?" he asked with a grin.

Cecily pouted in response, "Of course I can!" she replied, "Who do you think I am?!" she demanded in annoyance.

Darren then looks up, "Anything from up there, Maya?'' he called out in question.

Maya soars through the air with her wings while looking around the area before shaking her head, "Nothing!" she answered, "Even at this height, I don't see any Emotionless nor even their shadows.'' she explained.

Sandalwood rubs the back of his head, "Dude, these Emotionless hides really well." he commented.

"Still..." Laura uttered, "... we need to keep our guards up." she reminded, "These creatures are unpredictable at times, so you never know when they'll strike.'' he stated.

Squigly then turns to Wesley, "Are you gonna be okay in this mission, honey?'' she asked in concern as she remembered that her boyfriend is a bit absent-minded and is quite accident prone.

Wesley gave her a smile, "Don't worry!" he reassured, "I'm wearing faceless boots today.'' he revealed with a thumbs-up.

"Mind changing the subject for a minute." Darren spoke, "Does anyone heard about the Nightmares yet?'' he asked.

"I heard about it but I haven't seen one yet.'' Chad answered.

"From what the members of the New Age Avengers described, they take on several forms of crudely drawn creatures, from spiders to stick figures, and they turn into dust once they die.'' Sylvia explained.

"How do you think those things were created?'' Darren questioned.

Sandalwood shrugged his shoulders, "Who knows dude." he replied, "Probably from a cauldron or whatever.'' he assumed.

Raya then decided to change the subject, "Any idea which certain group Herald is going to recruit for our organization?'' she inquired.

"I believe it's Sun's team." Luke answered, "But I can't be too sure though." he admitted.

"It could be someone from Team RWBY's former school." Cecily assumed.

"That's possible." Wesley uttered in agreement.

Then Leviathan suddenly flinched which Squigly took notice, "What's wrong Leviathan?'' the opera singer asked.

Leviathan narrowed his eyes, "I sense something coming towards us behind those bushes." he answered while looking at a large bush from the right side of the forest.

"Emotionless or those Grimms?'' Laura questioned.

Leviathan shook his head, "I can't tell what it is but I can tell that they're many.'' he answered.

Darren then brought out his sword, "Get ready everyone!" he beckoned while everyone got into fighting position.

Not a second later, a huge wave of Emotionless came out running behind the bushes but they're not alone as a few Grimms called Beowulf are seen running along with them.

"Holy shit! That's quite a number!" Wesley exclaimed in shock.

"They even brought Grimms with them!" Sandalwood pointed out, "Looks like they get along fine.'' he commented.

Raya grinned, "That's what I'm talking about!" she exclaimed in glee, "So many meat to burn!" she cheered.

"Well, we finally found what we came for so..." Darren uttered before taking a deep breath, "TAKE THEM DOWN! NO MERCY!" he roared.

And with that, the team charges towards their enemies.

The first to attack are Cecily and Luke, the two are fighting side by side, slicing and taking down every creatures coming towards them with their respective blades.

"How you like that, Luke?!" Cecily asked with a big smile.

"It was fine." Luke uttered with a blank look.

"At least compliment me nicely!" Cecily complained.

Meanwhile, we see Wesley facing a Grimm as the creatures swipes it's claws at him but he caught it's arms in a tight grip before kicking it's mid-section twice, Wesley then follows it by twisting it's arms which made the creature growl in pain before lifting it up high and then slamming it down on the ground, he then finished it by stomping hard on the grimm's head, killing it.

"Eeeeeedooggies!" Wesley cheered with a grin.

As this is going on, Squigly delivered a powerful slap at one Emotionless before Leviathan bites it, she then jumps in the air while her parasite bites his target from below killing it. Then a Grimm charges at her but she quickly pushes it away by sitting on the ground, stretching her arms as Leviathan's tail hits the creature, she then finished her attack by stabbing her parasite's sharp tail on the grimm's chest, killing it.

"Good work Leviathan." Squigly complimented while petting her parasite.

"It's no pleasure Milady." Leviathan expressed in gratitude.

Meanwhile, we see Sandalwood's hands glowing green before slamming his fist down the ground which resulted of several larges vines shooting out from the ground and began swiping and whipping many Emotionless and Grimm's on its way, a few more vines then ensnared a lot of creatures which made them unable to move.

Sandalwood then turns to Laura with a nod.

Laura nodded back before aiming her gun at the trapped creatures and began to shooting at them, killing them one by one via headshot. She then noticed a much larger Grimm charging at her, she then summons her IS Blaster arm before firing a powerful shot towards the creature, blowing it's head off to pieces.

"Nice shot!" Sandalwood complimented with a thumbs up.

Laura blushed in response, "T-thank you..." she uttered while looking away, much to the Eco-Kid's confusion.

As this is going on, Maya soars forward with two iron sticks in hand and began hitting her targets one by one on various body parts such as neck, chest and legs, she would then deliver a powerful spinning heel kick on one Emotionless which sends it flying to the rest. Then a grimm tried to swipes it's claws at her but she blocks it's attack with her weapons in an x form before pushing it back by kicking it, she then combines the stick together which later formed into a musket with wings at the end before killing the creature by blasting it's head off.

Maya let's out a scoffed before flying back in the air.

Meanwhile, Chad is seen staring at several Emotionless and Grimms with a look of anticipation, and when the creatures charges at him, he quickly brought out a large blue-colored iron Bo staff and began twirling it above his head which created a massive pressure around him and as the creatures got closer to him, Chad let's out a smirk before swinging his weapon sideways which unleashes a powerful wind, blasting away his targets. He then wasted no time striking his weapon at his targets while they're still in mid-air before slamming all of them down to the ground.

Chad smirked in satisfaction, "And this is why, the chicks love me." he mused.

As this is going on, Karizza is seen busy dodging enemy attacks with a lazy look before letting out a yawn, "Ho-hum~ Are you guys done?" she asked rhetorically, "Cause it's my turn." she declared before floating in the air, she then took out a mini jar with a purple substance from her pouch. She then poured the substance towards the creatures which causes them to stop moving as if they were paralyzed, she then took out another tiny jar with a red substance before putting it in her mouth, she then took a deep breath before unleashing a massive burst of flames from her mouth, incinerating the paralyzed creatures below.

After finishing burning the creatures to crisps, Karizza wipes her mouth , "So tasty~" she mused while licking her lips.

Meanwhile, we see Sylvia getting into an elegant fight stance while rubbing her finger tips on her sword before snapping her fingers which caused her weapon to be set on fire. She then charges forward, slicing a Grimm in half, she then swings her sword upward which beheaded an Emotionless, she then charges forward before stabbing her weapon onto another Grimm's chest, killing the creature on the process.

Sylvia then took a step back, "Not there yet." she muttered in admittance.

Raya then walks forward like a runaway model with her heels clicking. She let's out a cocky smile before transforming her left arm into a machine gun, "Take this, you snakeshits!" she exclaimed before firing her weapon towards her targets, raining them with numerous bullets while not letting any of them get the chance to fight back or to flee. She then transforms her machine gun arm into a gist cannon before firing a powerful beam towards a group of Emotionless, blowing them to pieces.

Raya transforms her arm back to normal before blowing out a kiss.

"GRAAAGHH!" Darren roared while charging forward with a loud battle cry before swinging his sword violently, slicing and killing every creatures on his path. He would let out a few punches and kicks before finishing them with his sword. He then activated his Gift where he suddenly appears behind an Emotionless before stabbing his sword on its back before disappearing, he then appeared next to a Grimm before stabbing his sword on his chest before disappearing again and then appearing in front of another Emotionless before swinging his sword which beheaded the creature before disappearing once more.

Then Darren appeared in mid-air, "Whoo! Do I rock or what!?" he cheered until he collided with Maya which sends them crashing down to the ground, "Ouch..." the pink-haired knight moaned in pain, "That's gonna leave a mark." he commented before looking up to see that he is lying above Maya with his left hand on her chest, "Uh-oh..." he uttered in dread, "Umm, it's an accident, right?" he asked nervously but only to get a glare in response.

And a painful slap to the face.

After taking care of the Emotionless and Grimms, and leaving none of them alive for almost two hours, the team went back to town where they told the villagers that the creatures have been taken care off, much to their relief.

Right now, the team are seen waiting for Herald to return, along with the new recruits, at a veranda of a cabin.

"Has anyone seen Herald yet?" Darren asked with a red hand print on his cheek.

Maya scoffed in response, "Don't talk to me, you perv." she snarled.

"Wasn't talking to you.'' Darren retorted.

Chad looks up, "Hey! Herald is here." he announced.

Everyone then looks up to see Herald, alongside three young men, walking towards them from the village's main entrance.

The first young man had slim yet fit physique and he had a tan skin tone, he had a messy light-blue hair in the form of an undercut and he had blue-colored eyes. He wears a white dress shirt and black tie under a red jacket adorned with a wide, upturned, black collar and a silver reticle across the back. He also sports a pair of gray jeans with black padding strapped to the sides as well as black shoes fastened with straps instead of laces. Notable accessories within his attire includes black fingerless gloves and a pair of yellow-tinted goggles typically worn on his forehead. This is Neptune Vasilias.

The second young man is had a muscular physique and he had a dark skin tone and he had golden-colored eyes. His hair is sage green and he appears to have tattoos of wings on his chest and tattoos of Roman numerals around his neck. He wears a white long coat with asymmetrical sleeves, a green wing design similar to his tattoos and no shirt underneath, displaying his tattooed chest. His jacket also has a golden pauldron on his right shoulder and a golden cuff around his left wrist. He also wears a pair of black pants fastened by a white belt with a yellow buckle. This is Sage Ayana.

The third young man had a slim frame and a fair skin tone, he had red hair that comes down over his right eye with a complete undercut and he had green-colored eyes with several red markings around his left eye. He wears a green, mulberry, navy color feather earring on his left ear and has a red military pelisse-like jacket draped over the left side. He also wears a gray bandanna around his neck. On his right hand, he wears a fingerless glove, and on his right bicep, he has a gray band. He wears a white sleeveless shirt and light gray pants. He also wears a pair of long, brown, laced boots. Around his waist, he wears a brown belt and a slightly slanted gray belt that his weapon holster is attached to. This is Scarlet David.

"Hey guys! Sorry for the wait." Herald greeted before noticing the slap mark on Darren's face, "What the hell happened to you?" he asked.

"You don't need to know." Darren muttered in annoyance

Herald raised an eyebrow before shrugging his shoulders, "Anyway, I brought the new recruits." he said before gesturing a hand to the trio, "Would you kindly introduce yourselves." he beckoned.

"Heya!" Neptune greeted, "I'm Neptune Vasilias." he introduced himself while winking at the girls, whom cringed in response.

Chad chuckled in amusement, "Now this is my kind of guy." he admitted.

Sage greeted everyone with a nod, "Please to meet you, I'm Sage Ayana." he introduced himself.

Scarlet then gave everyone a small bow, "And I'm Scarlet David." he introduced himself, "Please to meet you all." he greeted.

"And these guys are Sun Wukong's teammates." Herald revealed.

"Oh? I was right then." Luke uttered in surprise.

Raya crosses his arms, "So you guys want to join the Heroes Coalitions?" she inquired.

Neptune nodded, "Yep." he confirmed, "After hearing that Sun joined an out-of-this-world organization, we decided to give it a try as well." he stated.

"And as well beating him up for leaving us behind." Sage added.

Cecily chuckled nervously, "Just go easy on him." she advised.

Darren smiled at the new recruits, "Welp! I don't have much to say but welcome to the family boys." he declared, "We're gonna get along just fine." he expressed.
