A/N Hello again sorry for the wait. However this one I went for much extra length on. Seriously this is a personal record for the longest chapter I've written in my history of writing fanfiction. I apologize for the length if this seems to unbearably drag on and on. Please check out the notes at the end of the chapter for a special announcement! This chapter introduces more OCs that I have ideas for, as well as expand a little on Will and Nicholas's background. So for now, enjoy!
One Boy and A Baby/Save The Date.
It was a nice Sunday at the Loud house. A beautiful day to do whatever one makes them feel great.
Everyone in the house was off doing fun filled activities, all except Lori, Leni, Lily, and Mrs. Loud.
Leni was putting on her light coat and her handbag, She and Lori were in their room getting ready to have their fun filled days.
"I can't wait to get to the mall and shop at the big dress sale!" Leni cheered.
"I gotta get to the golf course." Lori said, putting on her white golf sweater and placing her bag of golf clubs on her shoulder. "I need to practice up if I'm gonna get into Fairway University. I'll drive you to the mall and drop you off along my way to the course."
The two sisters walked downstairs and towards the front door but were stopped by Mrs. Loud holding Lily in her arms.
"I need one of you to stay here and watch Lily." Mrs. Loud ordered. The two sisters were hit with shock, clearly they didn't see this coming.
"What?" Lori gasped.
"Why?" Leni sighed.
"I just got a call from Aunt Ruth." Mrs. Loud explained. "She said she's suffering from some kind of infection that she thinks is serious."
"Don't you think she's overreacting like she always is?" Lori questioned.
"Yes, but you know her." Mrs. Loud answered, rolling her eyes. "She knows she's old and she thinks the reaper may be around the corner."
"But mom!" Lori whined.
"We had plans!" Leni also cried.
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Mrs. Loud said, handing Lily to Lori. "You know how your Great Aunt feels about Lily. Everyone is already gone so that leaves just one of you two! Perhaps you two can figure out which one of you is gonna have to watch her. You both have done it before, I know you can do it." Mrs. Loud leaned inwards to Lily and kissed her forehead. The baby responded by giggling. "Love you Lily, see you soon!"
Mrs. Loud walked out the door and quickly drove away, with Mr. Loud already in the driver's seat of Vanzilla.
"Great, now what?" Leni sighed. The sisters hung their heads in sadness as their plans went up in smoke.
"Can you stay and watch her?" Lori asked.
"No way!" Leni argued. "The mall has some rare dresses marked down to reasonable prices, I can't let this chance slip by!"
"I gotta practice my golf swing!" Lori also argued. "My future depends on it!" The two sisters glared at each other, not willing to budge an inch on this.
"How can you even possibly get there?" Leni snapped. "Mom took the car!" Lori responded by showing her cell phone and that Bobby was on her speed dial. He can drive and has access to a car.
"I'm not staying!" Lori pushed. Lily laughed at seeing her two sisters arguing.
"Neither am I!" Leni pushed back. The leering kept going for about two minutes until they heard the roaring of a lawn mower. The sisters went to the side window and saw Will mowing his front yard with his jacket tied around his waist.
The two sisters looked at each other and smirked. They just got a rather interesting idea. They both walked outside and called to Will with sweet voices.
"Ohhhhh Wiiiiiillllll!"
I couldn't possibly explain why. One moment I was cutting the grass, the next moment I'm in the Loud's living room assigned to watch their youngest sibling.
"Uh, why am I doing this again?" Will questioned.
"We have important things to take care of and we can't leave our dear baby sister alone." Lori answered.
"I get that, but why am I doing it?" Will questioned again.
Lori and Leni looked at each other and put on sweet faces, and spoke in sad tones.
"You're our best friend." Leni said.
"We also know you'd be great with babies." Lori added.
"You wouldn't want us disappointed…would you Will?" Leni asked. The two turned on the charm, making sweet slight puckering faces and causing their eyes to sparkle. Will's face turned red as his heart raced.
Ok, now I believe you probably know how I got into this situation.
"I'll try, but I know nothing about Lily, let alone babies." Will pointed out.
"It'll be ok." Lori said as she took out her phone and sent a text to Bobby to have him come pick up the two sisters.
Leni took Will's hand, and led him into the kitchen. This act made Will blush even harder as his eyes focused on the pretty Loud sister holding his hand.
Oh boy, we're holding hands!
Once they were at the refrigerator she let Will's hand go and opened the door. Will shook his head to get his mind back on track. Leni showed Will five different flavored jars of baby food.
"Ok at least once you'll have to feed her some lunch. Any of these will do fine." Leni then moved to the cabinet and opened it up to show the empty bottles. "If she gets hungry but doesn't want the food, you can give her some milk."
*HONK HONK!*
A car horn was heard from outside. Lori looked out the front window and saw Bobby in his car waiting for the two sisters.
"Leni!" Lori called. "Let's go!"
Leni and Will went back into the living room and showed Will her crib, next to it was a black portable table with diapers, powder, wipes, and a few story books fitting for a baby.
"Everything else you need is right here!" Leni concluded.
"If there's literally any problems, you got our cell numbers." Lori assured.
"You're so sweet Will!" Leni praised a blank faced Will as she placed Lily in his arms. It seems as if the two sisters are rushing to get out. Will couldn't keep up with it all.
"How long will you guys be out?" Will asked.
"Can't say for anyone else." Lori answered. "It could be no more than six hours."
"WHAT!?" Will shouted. Not expecting a long babysitting job. Lily just glared at Will for being so noisy with her.
Oh boy what did I get myself into? I messed up good this time!
"You'll be fine Will." Lori said as she opened the door, Leni and Lori looked at Lily and smiled at her. "Ok Lily, have fun with Uncle Will!" Will simply rolled his eyes at being called that.
Uncle Will? Really?
Leni winked at Will causing him to blush more.
"Don't worry we'll make it up to you for doing this for us!" She assured as the two walked out the door and shut it.
Outside Leni and Lori walked towards Bobby's car.
"We really do owe him for this." Leni said to Lori, seeking agreement. Lori simply nodded, knowing they needed to repay Will somehow.
Will watched the two sisters as they entered the car and drove away, leaving the two alone. Will simply paused as he looked at Lily in his arms. She just simply returned the stare.
I had to admit, this sure is something else. I've never been around a baby like this, let alone hold one in my arms. I gotta admit. She feels softer, smoother, and lighter than any other person I had direct contact with.
Will observed this as Lily's back and head was resting in Will's hands and arms.
"So…..uh." Will struggled to say something to the child. "You're a…baby, how's that working for you?"
Lily just simply rolled her eyes at Will's odd question. As she rolled her eyes she noticed her binky sitting on the arm of the couch and she started to reach for it.
"Eh eh!" She went, stretching her arms to it. Will's eyes followed her arm and knew what she wanted. He took the pacifier and gently placed it in her mouth. Lily just started to calmly suck on it. Will smiled as his heart fluttered at the sudden cuteness.
Awe, that's sweet!
Will sat on the couch and let Lily go. She saw her favorite purple blanket sitting on the other arm of the couch, she spat out her pacifier and crawled towards it excitedly and snuggled with it.
"Anky! Anky!" She went rubbing her head against it. Will kept smiling at her being cute.
Funny, I thought all she could say was 'Poo Poo.'
"Watching babies is easy." Will remarked out loud, with a smile on his face, but suddenly….
*PURRRT!*
Will cringed and his face dropped to a deep frown as he heard a loud 'blow off' from Lily. He looked at her and he immediately covered his nose as a horrific stench filled the air.
"I spoke too soon!" Will groaned. Lily just simply laughed. Will picked Lily up who simply looked at him with her diaper sagging.
"Oh god no." Will said, shivering at the thought of what he's gonna have to do. He walked with Lily over to the changing table.
Ok I think I know how to do this. I've seen it on TV several times.
*Puuuurrrrt!*
"Oh geez!" Will cringed even harder as Lily did it again. His hands shook as he reached for the diaper fearing at what he would see. He opened it up and….
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Five minutes later Will was sitting on the couch with his eyes fixed on the ceiling. His face looked blank as if he just saw a horrific murder. Lily was just laughing and playing with a toy ball around Will's feet.
That was awful. I messed up a few times, even the new diaper, I somehow got it on my arm before I could get it onto Lily's waist properly. I'm terrified to know exactly what this baby eats.
Lily laughed and shoved the ball hard. Unfortunately for her, the ball bounced off the wall and towards her and smacked her in the face. She fell down onto her back.
Will heard the impact and his eyes fell and saw Lily sniffing and her eyes watering up. Will's own eyes widened.
"Oh No!" He cried knowing what's coming.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!"
Lily let loose her waves of tears as she cried super loudly. Will immediately scooped up Lilly and tried to calm her down by rocking her in his arms.
"Calm down Lily! Come on!" Will said in a light tone trying to calm the baby. "Rock a bye Lily on the tree top!" He sang in a nervous voice. Unfortunately she didn't seem to calm down.
I gotta say, I'm way in over my head here! I need help!
Will moved Lily to her crib and placed her inside he grabbed his phone and scrolled through his numbers to find Lori and Leni. He took a few steps away as Lily stood up in her crib and shook the bars in her crib as she continued to cry wildly.
Will sighed at her being upset however he had an idea as he got to his Dad as his top contact.
Hmmmmm. Do I want Leni and Lori to bail me out? Or do I want to better know how to handle this? I get Lori and Leni back here, they'll be pretty unhappy with me. I really don't want Leni to be upset that I cut her shopping day short.
The answer was obvious. Will dialed the number for Nicholas and waited for him to answer.
Luckily dad isn't at work, however he's on a lunch date with Licoln's teacher. I hope I'm not ruining things for him, but I really need his help.
"Come on, answer!" Will panicked as his phone rang. Luckily for him Nicholas did.
"Hello?" He said.
"Dad! It's an emergency!" Will said as he plugged his ear to tune out Lily's crying.
"What is it?" Nicholas said with great concern as Will explained everything that's been happening.
"Ok." Nicholas explained calmly. "The most important thing to do is to breathe. You need to stay as calm as possible."
Will looked at Lily as she kept crying her voice and eyes out. Will decided to follow Nicholas's advice and breathed at first very fast, then it started to slow as Will started to relax.
"Ok, I'll help you as much as I can." Nicholas said. "Although not all babies are alike, the only baby experience I got is with you."
"So what may work for me, won't work for Lily?" Will asked.
"Yes." Nicholas answered. "You must understand, a child's, especially a baby's needs and desires are usually never the same from one moment to the next. You always gotta be ready for that."
Will pondered that for a moment and nodded. "Ok dad, what should I try first?"
First see if she has a bruise where she got hurt. Will came up to Lily with his phone smushed between his right ear and right shoulder.
"No, no marks here, she's fine." Will answered.
"Ok, try gently massaging her head and kiss it to make it feel better." Nicholas instructed. Will picked Lily up and gently stroked her head, almost like he was petting an animal. Lily stopped crying but she still had a sad look on her face as she looked up to Will. Will smiled at her and gently kissed Lily on the head, as per his father's advice.
"Ehh haha!" Lily went as she smiled.
"Hey, it worked!" Will said happily to Nicholas.
"Good! Now go and give her some food, mix up a bottle and give her a little bit of baby food." Will took Lily out of her crib and took her to the kitchen and sat her in the baby chair and took a purple mini spoon and the jar of matching colored mashed plums and cabbage. Will got a small spoonful and guided the spoon to Lily's mouth, she just playfully pushed to spoon away from her face. Will tried again at least four times, but unfortunately it resulted in the same thing.
"Dad Lily won't eat what I'm giving her." Will complained.
"See if there's something sweet that's not candy or soda in the fridge." Nicholas advised. Will looked as saw a small container of vanilla yogurt. Will informed Nicholas of his findings. Lily saw the yogurt and her face lit up with joy.
"Ahhh!" She went happily.
Nicholas gave more advice in response. "If she's acting that way, mix in a little bit of the yogurt to the food, try about two thirds of the food and a quarter of yogurt." Will carefully measured a little of both foods on the spoon and did airplane movements with it to entice the baby.
"Open up the bay for the starship Lily!" Will said in a cute voice.
"Ahhhhh!" Lily opened her mouth and began to easily feed the infant. She accepted the food with happy sounds and smiles.
"Good girl Lily!" Will praised after she finished half the jar. Will put the food away and got a bottle of milk. Will placed it to her mouth which she happily drank some. She didn't finish it but had enough, Will went to the diaper table and took a wipe to clean Lily's face. She yawned and Will informed his dad what's happening, and Nicholas gave him instructions to lay her down for a nap.
Will placed her down into the crib and tucked her in. Will kissed her head as Lily laughed again. Will was gonna leave but Lily wanted something.
"Anky! Anky!" She went as she pointed at Will. He raised an eyebrow in confusion.
She has her blanky, she's tucked into it. What does she want with me?
"Anky!" She went again, still pointing at Will. Will followed her finger and noticed she's pointing at his left shoulder and arm.
"You want my jacket?" Will asked, Lily simply nodded. Will frowned for a moment, but decided it's best to give her what she needs in this case, unless Will wants more crying. He removed his jacket and laid it on her like a second blanket. Lily cheered and rolled in it happily. Will's heart fluttered again watching this.
Aww, how cute, she likes my jacket as much as I do!
Lily started to drift to sleep as Will sat on the couch knowing he can finally rest his head for now. He talked more with Nicholas about the situation.
Nicholas talked reassuringly to his son. "Don't worry, this is your first time with a baby. You're bound to struggle the first few times."
"Oh god, don't remind me." Will grimaced quietly, as to not wake Lily up, who was snoring lightly.
"I sure did when you were first born." Nicholas chuckled remembering happier times. "I got the hang of it over time, as will you. Will you be ok now?"
"Yeah it shouldn't be too long until Lori and Leni return." Will answered looking at the clock. Nicholas hung up his phone and Will sighed in relief.
Later Leni and Lori did indeed return. With Leni holding a few shopping bags and Lori looking the same as she left.
They both were somewhat afraid to open the front door as they gulped. Lori turned the handle and they both giggled as Lori and Leni saw Will sleeping on their couch as Lily was starting to wake up. The sounds of the door opening caused Will to open his eyes.
"Oh…um hi!" He said to the ladies, rubbing his eyes.
"Looks like you had quite a day." Lori said to Will.
"I did indeed." Will smirked. "I hope you two got everything you need done."
"We totes did! Thanks to you Will!" Leni smiled.
"Well I guess it's time for me to get outta here!" Will said. He was starting to walk towards the door when he heard a call from Lily.
"Illiam! Illiam!" She cried out. Hearing the baby try to say Will's name he turned and saw his jacket was still with her and wanted to give it back.
"Awww!" Lori cooed. "Lily knows your name!"
"She likes you!" Leni added. Will blushed at the compliments as he went to take the jacket back.
"Thanks Lily." Will smiled as he started to walk towards the door.
"Well make sure we'll repay you for this someday." Lori promised.
"I would greatly appreciate that." Will said. He opened the door and smiled at Lily one last time before leaving.
Later that night Will was having a pasta dinner with Nicholas. Going over the day they had.
"Was Ms. Johnson mad at me for interrupting your date?" Will asked.
"A little." Nicholas laughed. "However, she thought it was sweet that you were taking care of a baby. Of course she understood that I had to help you. How about Mrs. Loud? How was she when she learned that you were taking care of her baby?"
"She doesn't know." Will answered. "Although, according to Lori, she was annoyed that apparently their aunt was actually just suffering from a rash." The two laughed as they continued to enjoy their dinner.
A week later, Will was sitting with Lincoln in Will's living room playing Mortal Kombat on the Super Nintendo. Will actually was beating Lincoln really easily.
Something's off Lincoln and me are usually evenly matched at this game. This time though I haven't lost a single round.
Will noticed Lincoln's face was annoyed but at something else. Just then the match came to a close with Will pulling off a finishing maneuver.
"Raiden Wins! Flawless Victory, Fatality!"
"You wanna tell me what's on your mind?" Will asked as he set the controller down, not letting the game continue until Lincoln spoke.
Lincoln shook his head and sighed. "Sorry Will, it's just that, things were getting a little tense at school. Ronnie Anne's pranks on me are seriously getting on my nerves. They're getting more intense and more embarrassing. It's at the point that everyone, except Clyde of course, is teasing me about it."
"Oh boy." Will sighed for his friend. "I'm so sorry."
"Got any advice?" Lincoln asked.
Will shrugged. "I don't know man, all I can say is be straightforward and upfront with your classmates. Make it clear that there's nothing going on between you two!"
Sadly though even I get the feeling there is something more!
Two days later at school, at lunchtime Will got his lunch, a delicious deli hoagie sandwich, a chocolate pudding cup, some carrot sticks, and milk. Will found a spot in the cafeteria to sit comfortably to eat. He moved towards it, but was met with an unexpected encounter.
"YOU!" A rageful female voice boomed behind him. Will jumped in surprise and dropped his lunch on the floor, once more.
"Dang it, not again!" Will groaned rolling his eyes. He turned and took a step back, it was Lori, giving him a death stare. Will's heart raced, but being quite terrified of her.
Holy cow! I knew Lori could be a bear when she's upset, but my god! I've never seen her like this!
Her hair looked slightly frazzled, her eyes were darkened with her mascara running from apparent tears she was shedding. Lori bore her teeth at Will like a wild animal ready to attack.
"Can I help you?" Will asked in a tone suggesting he's not intimidated, at least on the outside.
I'm pretty good at keeping cool, or at least pretending to be. I bet I could win big at poker!
"You will talk to Lincoln right now!" Lori snarled. Her voice had tinges of sadness in it. She struggled to shout her orders at Will between muffled sobs. Unfortunately this was drawing the eyes of the school as a few bystanders stopped and stared, some started to whisper. Will was feeling slightly embarrassed, but Lori didn't seem to care.
"Excuse me?" Will replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Lincoln made Ronnie Anne cry at school!" Lori cried, now letting tears flow.
"What?" Will asked, tilting his head confused.
"B-B-B-Bobby, broke up with me!" Lori finally let loose the floodgates of emotions.
"What!?" Will repeated, this time stunned at this turn of events.
I didn't detect any sign that Bobby and Lori's relationship was rocky. No indication that a break up was about to occur.
"I'm sorry to hear this, but what's this got to do with me?" Will asked.
"You're Lincoln's close friend!" Lori said, not putting on the aggressive face from before, but getting right up in Will's face.
"And?" Will replied, starting to feel annoyed.
I really don't like people getting this close to me. Especially in a confrontational way. If I was my old self, this situation would have gotten ugly five minutes ago.
"You will tell Lincoln to patch things up with her right now!" Lori ordered. Will's face hadn't changed, but he took two steps back.
"Lori, stop this!" The voice of Bobby called. Lori looked to her left and saw Bobby giving her a disapproving stare. Lori seemed to snap out of whatever rage induced trance she was in and looked at what she was doing.
"I'm-I'm sorry Will." Lori sobbed. "I shouldn't be speaking to you like this, you didn't do anything wrong." She turned around and rushed away shedding more tears.
Will looked at the bystanders who kept staring at him and now Bobby was standing next to him.
"What're you looking at?" Will called to the crowd. "Show's over!" That instantly got the crowd to disperse. Will turned to Bobby who was also looking quite upset, his eyes also looked like he shed a few tears.
"Will you come with me please?" Will asked as he took Bobby's hand and started to pull him towards the outside area so they could talk more privately. "So you two broke up?"
Bobby sighed in sadness. "Yes."
"Why? You two looked so happy together!" Will pointed out.
"Lincoln upset Ronnie Anne during his lunch period today." Bobby explained. "She called me crying about the situation."
"I don't understand though." Will furrowed his eyebrows. "Why'd you break up over this?"
"I care about my family very much." Bobby declared. "I don't want to be involved with a family that's gonna hurt mine!"
Will thought about it more. "I guess I can see that. If you and Lori get married, you'll become a part of the Louds in a way."
"Exactly." Bobby answered. Will paused still pondering this.
I still think breaking up over this is a little overreacting though. I mean, what families don't have people who dislike members on the other side?
"I saw her getting upset with you and had to do something." Bobby explained himself. "It wasn't right that she took her anger out on you."
"Thanks I suppose." Will said, rolling his eyes again. "Is there any way you two can get back together?"
"I guess if Lincoln did make up with Ronnie Anne, that would do it." Bobby answered. He was then hit with an idea. "Gotta go, sorry about this Will!" Bobby rushed off waving bye to Will.
That afternoon once Will returned home. He called Lincoln on his cell phone.
"Hey Will." Lincoln said on the other line.
"Lincoln, what's going on?" Will asked. "Lori exploded at me about how you upset Ronnie Anne at school today."
"You don't understand." Lincoln replied. "She somehow shoved a sloppy joe down my pants, and everyone started teasing me again, thinking we're a couple." Will just blinked in disbelief of Ronnie Anne's latest prank.
"Lincoln, how did…."
"Don't ask how." Lincoln interrupted. "She just somehow got it down there."
Guess Ronnie Anne has some real ninja skills.
"I took your advice and was straight forward and laid it on the line that she's not my girlfriend. I said she's gross, rude, and totally annoying! I told everyone that I'd rather lick the bathroom floor than kiss that weirdo!"
"Lincoln." Will sighed, rubbing his eyes in annoyance. "I said be honest, but you didn't need to lay it on thick like that!"
"I realize that now." Lincoln said. "I tried talking to Clyde about it, but he seems too excited about Lori and Bobby splitting."
"Ah, sees the opportunity before him huh?" Will chuckled. "Anyways Lincoln, Lori, exploded at me at lunch today for me to get you to fix things with her!"
"Sorry about that, she has already unloaded her anger at me already." Lincoln sighed. "Unfortunately things are only getting worse."
"How?" Will asked.
"Bobby and Lori will only get back together if Bobby sees me apologize and be nice to Ronnie Anne. She and Bobby booked a double date for themselves, and me and Ronnie Anne at Jean Juan's French Mex buffet tonight at six!"
"Oh wow." Will said in amazement. "That's the most expensive, and romantic restaurant in Royal Woods."
"Lori threatened me that I'll treat Ronnie Anne like the most special girl in the world, or I'll regret it till the day she moves out of the house, which would take a while without Bobby." Will was starting to feel a little sad for him.
"I'm truly sorry for this Lincoln." Will sighed. "I mean you should make it up to Ronnie Anne for being so mean. I don't think you should be forced to be a couple."
Lincoln simply gagged in response.
"Well, I hope it all goes well for you two." Will assured. "Don't worry you'll be ok."
"Thanks, well. I gotta get ready. Bye!" Lincoln hung up.
Will sighed as he went to get a soda from the fridge. Suddenly Will's phone started buzzing. He popped the top on a can of Coke as he checked to see who was calling him. It was Lori.
"Mmmmmm, do I dare answer this?" Will thought to himself. "I want no more part of this drama." However, shutting his eyes tightly, Will answered the call.
"Hello, Lori?" Will spoke feeling regret for answering.
"Hey Will, I'm just calling to apologize again for what happened earlier." Lori said in a tone that sounded like she's sick and sad together.
"Yeah, I got the scoop from Lincoln." Will sighed. "Interesting plan to fix up a double date to work things out."
"What are you doing tonight?" Lori asked.
"I gotta make dinner for dad when he gets home from work." Will explained, in a somewhat nagging manner. "Like I always do."
"Have you started yet?" Lori inquired.
Will sighed in annoyance. "No but-"
"Good, get dressed. You're coming to."
"What!?" Will shouted. "Why!?" He needed to calm down a little so he started taking swigs of his drink.
"I wanna show you how sorry I am for losing my temper at you today. Also me and Leni wanted to show you our appreciation for watching Lily. So I set up a separate date for you at the same restaurant at the same time."
"WHAT!?" Will screamed, splattering his beverage all over the place, his eyes bugging out. There were people walking down the street who heard Will's outburst. They simply looked at Will's house and started rushing away from it. "WITH WHO!?"
"Leni obviously." Lori said. "Come on over at 5:30. See you then!" Lori hung up leaving Will dumbfounded.
Oh god, my first date. Or…..was it really? Hard to say.
Will went to the bathroom and stared at the mirror for several minutes. Will heard the door open and knew Nicholas returned home.
"Will?" Nicholas called. "Where are you? I don't smell dinner!"
"I'm up in the bathroom." Will answered. Nicholas went to his room to drop off his work gear and change into his casual attire. He soon went up to the bathroom and joined his son who had the door wide open.
"What's on your mind?" Nicholas asked. Seeing Will's terrified face that was locked onto its reflection.
"Dad….I think I have a date tonight." Will struggled to answer.
"Really!?" Nicholas said, his face lighting up with joy. "My son finally is involved with someone, anyone I know?"
"Leni Loud." Will replied. He went on to explain what's going on. Unfortunately Nichola's face went from happy to slightly disappointed.
"I see, I wouldn't say it's a 'date' date then." Nicholas said, making air quotes with his fingers. "Sounds like they're just treating you to dinner to say thanks."
"I suppose that makes me feel a little better." Will said, breathing a sigh of relief. "But what about dinner?"
"It's ok son. I can handle it." Nicholas assured. "Go, have a good time."
To be honest I'm totally unprepared for a situation like this.
Will stepped outside and walked to the Louds and knocked on the door.
Lori opened it and she actually looks great, in a long sleeve shirt that's her normal sky blue color, along the bottom she wore a purple skirt.
"Hi." Was all Will could say as he waved to the oldest Loud sibling. Lori gave Will a half smile.
"We'll, I think you can do better than that." Lori remarked, talking about his attire.
"Come on, this was last minute and I've never really done anything like this before." Will shrugged. "You can cut me some slack."
"Hi Will!" Leni called. Lori moved aside, and Will smiled bigger and nervously waved his fingers at Leni.
"It was really nice of you to look out for Lily for us!" Leni continued. "I'd be happy to treat you to a nice meal!"
"That's very generous of you, thanks!" Will said, smiling at Leni.
"LINCOLN!" Lori shouted. "GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE!" Lincoln slowly, like a scared dog, slowly climbed down the stairs, looking normal, but his orange polo shirt seemed to have longer sleeves that were pulled up.
"Hey Lincoln." Will sighed. The boy only waved back to Will.
"Ok Let's go!" Lori said as the group all marched to Vanzilla.
Like dad said, this may not be a 'date' date but I guess I might as well have fun with it.
Will smiled big as he walked besides Leni and opened the front seat door for her.
"Oh what a gentleman." Leni praised as she sat down.
Will sat next to Lincoln behind the two sisters.
"Sorry you got roped into this." Lincoln whispered to Will.
Will whispered back. "I just want to know why they wanted to repay me for babysitting Lily. This, and now of all times is when they decided to do it."
Lincoln simply shrugged. The ride to the restaurant was very quiet, the atmosphere was as if an explosion could go any second.
"Remember what's at stake here Lincoln, don't mess this up for me!" Lori warned. Lincoln simply gulped and nodded.
Once they arrived. Will looked at the front of the place in awe. He opened the car door for Leni to get out. Once she was out Will got an even better look at the place. A neon sign of a hispanic mariachi person dipping a baguette into something, with the name of the place 'Jean Juan's' surrounding it. Aesthetically the place is decorated in South Western and French themes. The architecture of the building looked like it was completely made of adobe bricks while decorations and plants under the windows were all things found in Europe.
"Never been here?" Leni asked Will.
"Nope." Will answered.
"I have, trust me! You'll love it!" Leni assured. Leni walked next to Will and Lincoln walked next to Lori once they made it to the front door, they were greeted by Bobby and Ronnie Anne. They also looked completely normal.
"Hi Bobby!" Lori greeted holding her hands together looking at Bobby longingly.
"Hey babe!" Bobby said, returning the loving look. However he remembered that they're broken up and switched to a more serious look. "I mean, Lori."
"Hi Ronnie Anne." Lincoln said sheepishly, he got an elbow from Lori to try and 'nice' it up.
"Yeah, we weirdo's clean up nice." She grumbled. "Let's just get this over with."
"Um. Lori, why are those two here?" Bobby asked, pointing at Leni and Will.
"Oh they're here on a completely unrelated matter to us." Lori assured. "They just came here with us."
Bobby and Will shrugged at the same time and the group all walked inside. Lori and Bobby were giving each other looks, hoping their plan would work out. Lincoln looked nervous and Ronnie Anne looked grouchy. Leni looked happy, while Will looked confused.
"Bonjour Sénors and Señoritas." The host greeted, in fact it was incredibly odd. The host was Clyde. In disguise, wearing a cheesy fake handlebar mustache and a red french beret. Will's eyes widened at this shocking turn of events.
Lincoln pulled Clyde under the host podium and whispered to each other. Will shook his head and he noticed that Lori was groaning and also shaking her head.
Yeah, seriously. Who does Clyde think he's fooling?
Leni nudged Will with her elbow and whispered.
"Is it just me? Or is the host look much too young to work here?" Will blinked and didn't answer.
"Ok dinner for five?" Clyde said to the group.
"Hold on sir." Leni interrupted. Will was giving Clyde a raised eyebrow. "Me and him will need our own separate table."
"So dinner for you two, and dinner for three for the rest of you."
"Actually Sir." Bobby spoke up. "There's four of us!" However Clyde simply ignored and pretended Bobby didn't exist.
Clyde moved behind the party pushing Lincoln, Lori, and Ronnie Anne towards a table in a rather passive aggressive attempt to leave Bobby behind. Bobby just grumbled and followed the group to their table. Leni and Will stayed behind. The two shrugged at each other as a second host appeared from the back of the dining area.
"Sorry about that." He chuckled apologetically. "Just you two?" Will nodded and he guided Will and Leni in the same direction the other group went. They were seated at a table a few feet away from the others. They could watch events unfold but could hear what anyone was saying.
Will rushed and pulled the chair out for Leni who giggled and sat down as Will pushed her in. This whole time Will's cheeks were heating up. Will sat directly across from her and two were handed menus. Will's eyes moved over to the others and saw that Bobby didn't have a chair until another waiter got one for him, earning a heated glare from Clyde, who's still in disguise. Everyone was sitting at the quarter sides of the table, Lincoln, between Ronnie Anne and Lori, Bobby between Lori and Ronnie Anne.
Speaking of glares, Ronnie Anne was giving Lincoln a rather heated one, like she was gonna tackle him and beat him up at any second.
"Will! Will!" Leni called and which got his attention back to the girl across from him.
"Oh, sorry." Will said, shaking his head. "What is it?"
'I asked if you wanted to split an appetizer." Leni said, apparently repeating herself.
Suddenly the atmosphere in the place erupted as a Mariachi band surrounded the table the other group was sitting at.
"Ooo La La!" The singer of the band said to Ronnie Anne. He was doing a rather embarrassing accent that was a mixture of spanish and french.
Kinda take the roleplaying here a little too seriously huh?
"Young amour! This calls for Música!" The singer pointed to the rest of his band as they readied their spanish guitars and a trumpet.
"NO! No!" Lincoln objected. Waving the band away. "No Música." The singer held his hand over his heart, like his musical gift was crushed. Unfortunately the band noticed Will and Leni and moved over to them.
NO! NO WAY! NOTHING THIS HUMILIATING!
Will panicked internally as something really embarrassing was about to hit him. Once they were in earshot. Will blurted out the first thing that popped into his head.
"Sorry guys, this girl is my…..cousin! So no amour happening here!" The band members looked at each other and gave Will a raised eyebrow before leaving. Will breathed a sigh of relief, but noticed Leni was giving him the same look.
"Uh, Will." Leni said. "We're not cousins."
"I know, but do you want a band singing to us about the love we don't have?" Will explained.
"Good point." Leni said giggling at the situation. However Leni was hit with an idea. "Speaking of 'cousins,' Lana said that you have one and an aunt!"
Oh boy, how'd she learn that? Probably dad told her.
Will sighed. "Yeah, I hardly ever see them though."
Leni rested her head in her hands and stared at Will intently. "Lana said they've even come to Royal Woods. How come you never introduced us to them?"
"Well…." Will said, moving his eyes to the ceiling, ready to explain something about his extended family.
Flashback
"My Aunt is more specifically, my dad's sister, her name is Anna. They live in another state, Illinois to be specific. My cousin is her daughter, her name's Kara. The reason why I never introduced you guys to them, or at least never mentioned her. Is because I'm lucky if I see her twice a year at all. If she's around I don't want to miss a single moment."
A month after the Clements first moved to Royal Woods. Will was laying on the living room couch looking up at the ceiling grouchy as he tossed a ball up and down. That is until a knock was heard at the door. Nicholas opened it and smiled at the tall thin woman on the other side. The two shared a hug as Will picked his head up and smiled softly at her.
"Hi Aunt Anna." Will said.
"Hi, my favorite little nephew!" Anna said to the twelve year old. She's very pretty with long brown hair tied into a ponytail behind her, with two long bangs hanging down the sides of her head. Her ears held a pair of tiny pearl earrings. She wore a rather high class red leather coat with fluffy edges over a white shirt, tight dark brown colored dress jeans and fancy red shiny dress shoes.
"News flash! I'm your only nephew!" Will quipped.
"Still snarky I see." Anna remarked. She walked up to Will and spread her arms open, expecting a hug. Will crossed his arms and looked away. "I'm not leaving you until you give your dear aunt a hug!"
Will looked at her then looked away again.
"Remember I still had a bitter attitude at this time. However she would always find a way to bring out a little decency in me. I couldn't explain it."
"Come on!" Anna begged. "None of your friends are here in your own house. So don't be embarrassed." Will sighed and with a little reluctance wrapped his arms around his aunt who returned the hug. "There you go! This isn't so bad right?" After the two separated Anna looked Will up and down.
"My my!" She observed. "You've grown quite a bit since I last saw you! You get that from my brother?" She looked at Nicholas who smiled and laughed.
"I make sure he's eating good." Nicholas answered.
"I'll say!" Anna remarked looking back at Will. "You were a cute little boy, now you're becoming a handsome young man! I bet the ladies don't leave you alone do they?"
"Oh please!" Will scoffed, looking away blushing. Nicholas and Anna both laughed at Will's embarrassed look.
"I'm just teasing you, you know that." Anna assured as she playfully ruffled Will's hair. She sat on the side chair next to the couch as Will sat upright on the couch. Nicholas sat next to him.
End Flashback
"She sounds fun!" Leni remarked. "Especially if she can make you decent, during the times you were a jerk." She sipped on her beverage of sparkling water, as Will had sweetened iced tea. Will ate some of the spicy salmon canapes that he and Leni were splitting.
Will looked at the floor and cleared his throat. Feeling embarrassed for the person he was. He noticed at the other table that Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were alone. Bobby and Lori were at the buffet line. He noticed Ronnie Anne laughing, showing that they're getting along again.
"I didn't escape unscathed though." Will added. "She would lecture me to be better, especially when she heard how I treated you guys, especially Clyde."
"So how come you don't see her?" Leni asked. "She sure seems to like seeing you and your dad!"
"This is where things get very complicated." Will added. "It's mostly because of her husband."
Flashback
After the first week of the Clements moving into their new home a stretched limousine was parked a few feet away up the street. Anna, their daughter, and her husband walked up to the front door.
"Aunt Anna's husband is actually very very rich. He's my Uncle Johnothan. He knows how to play stocks with almost absolute precision. Investments and brokers are his specialty. Unfortunately, his own extended family share this history of privilege and don't think highly of regular people. Of course me and my dad are no exception."
Jonathan walked up the walkway to Will's house with Anna and their daughter in front of them. A man of average height and skinny build. He wore a fancy black suit with a white button undershirt and a black bowtie at his neck. His hair is silver, which is sleek and combed back. He has a pencil thin mustache cut perfectly in two across the bridge of the mouth. His right eye is holding a monocle in place. This man clearly has a lot of money and isn't afraid to let the world know this.
Their daughter was quite young, no older than ten. She's the same height as Ronnie Anne. She has her mothers's brown hair and also lets two big bangs hang on the sides of her head. Her hair is long and hangs well past her shoulders. Her hair is accessorized with a pink ribbon going around the top of her head, her clothes are a high class school uniform. A pink vest over a white collar shirt, around her waist is a pink skirt with white trim around the edge. The skirt itself goes down to her knees, and she wears matching pink stockings and dress shoes.
As they approach the front door. Anna reaches out to knock but Johnothan stops her by gently grabbing her arm.
"Sweetheart." Jonathan smiled at his wife. "Allow me, I won't let your beautiful hand be soiled by this door." Anna rolled her eyes and Johnothan took out a handkerchief and knocked on the door three times. Soon Nicholas answered it and smiled to see his family.
"Hi Jonathan! Hi Anna." Nicholas greeted. Nicholas knelt down and smiled at the little girl. "Good to see you again Kara! Got a hug or kiss for your Uncle?"
She responded by turning up her nose at Nicholas and crossed her arms and shook her head at him. Anna felt embarrassed and lightly nudged her on the back of her head, urging her to hug Nicholas.
"Ahh it's ok." Jonathan intervened. Stopping this from going further, preventing Kara from touching Nicholas. "She sends her love even if she doesn't wish to physically show it." The father and daughter walked inside as Anna whispered to her brother.
"I'm so sorry." Anna whispered. Feeling embarrassed. "I talked to them before we arrived, but clearly my words fell on deaf ears."
"I don't know why I even bother." Nicholas sighed looking at the two. "They'll never like me."
Will was sitting in the chair in the kitchen as Jonathan and Kara inspected the place.
"Such….interesting accommodations you have here Nicholas." Jonathan said, in a rather condescending way. He examined the house with great scrutiny.
"It sure is big, I hope it's enough for all the stuff you don't have!" Kara remarked.
"If it wasn't obvious already. Their daughter adopted the same attitude as her father. It seems though that she's slightly worse about it. Thanks to my attitude at this time, I wasn't afraid to snap back when they treated us like lowly bugs. It really hurt my sweet aunt, which I really regret."
"I see you still haven't decided we're not just lowly peasants!" Will asserted, glaring at Kara. Anna was looking away trying to hide her face from feeling embarrassed.
Nicholas moved to comfort his sister, by placing his hands on her shoulders. Jonathan felt a little disgusted by his actions.
"Guys, let's just focus on the nice meal I'm cooking on the grill!" Nicholas said, trying to soothe the situation.
"No need." Jonathan said, taking out his cell phone and checking a status on something on an app. "I took the liberty to have some specialty chefs make us some filet mignons and prime ribs for this meal."
Nicholas's mouth hung open, he looked at the steak and burgers he already had ready to cook on his grill.
"What's wrong with the food I planned on making?" Nicholas asked.
"I'm sure it would have been fine." Jonathan assured. "However a more 'suitable' meal to fit the occasion is better."
Nicholas grumbled as he continued to comfort his sister.
End of Flashback
"They sound like total jerks!" Leni gasped in disbelief. "Why did your aunt marry him?"
"I wondered that too." Will answered. My dad explained to me that they met at an art show in Washington state during their college years and fell in love then. They both have a strong affinity towards fine art. I should say that he treated her nicely then, and still does along with their child. While my Cousin, and Uncle don't want much to do with me and my dad, he doesn't forbid my Aunt to see us. Although why she stays with him, I actually don't know."
"I guess that's what matters most." Leni sighed.
Will nodded and added. "Even though they want nothing to do with us. My aunt is still so sweet that she makes time for me whenever she gets a chance, she felt she had to….." Will's face fell flat with sadness. "When Mom left."
"I'm so sorry." Leni said, giving Will a look of sympathy, she reached across the table and placed her hand on Will's, which caused him to blush and his heart to race some more.
"It's um….It's ok." Will stammered nervously.
Leni's very kind, she's so great to be around!
Will turned back to Ronnie Anne and Lincoln. He looked at the buffet line which was only a few feet away from the other party's table and noticed Lori and Bobby smiling big at Lincoln and Ronnie Anne seeming to get along again. The two teens moved inwards to kiss each other, that is until Clyde popped in between them to stop them.
Will giggled at the scene as the waiter returned with their main courses. Leni had a small quiche as Will had a crepe, but the fillings were traditional stuff you would find in a burrito. The two separated their hands and started eating.
Leni looked over at her sister and her face beamed with excitement.
"Ahhh! Lori and Bobby are back together now!" She cooed with her hands on her cheeks.
Unfortunately Will noticed that Lincoln suddenly was looking absolutely nervous and he slipped under the table and crawled towards the bathroom, trying hard not to be seen. Once Lincoln disappeared Will's phone buzzed. He checked it and it was a text message from Lincoln.
"Will I need you and Clyde to help me escape!" The message read. Will shook his head and put his phone back into his pocket. Once he and Leni were almost finished he heard something from under the table.
*knock knock!*
Will's eyes bugged out and lifted the cloth underneath to see who's pounding. It was Lincoln and Clyde.
Leni noticed this and also looked. She was confused as to why Clyde and Lincoln were under there.
"Um. Lincoln, this isn't your table." She said.
Lincoln didn't respond. He simply beckoned Will to come under with them.
Will looked at Leni and put on a very cheeky smile. He held up a finger, saying he'll be right back. Will went under the table as Leni went back to finish up her food. Will was pretty annoyed with the two boys.
"What's going on here?" Will grumbled as the three were hiding under the table cloth.
"Over in the corner are the boys from school who tease me about me and Ronnie Anne!" Lincoln explained, pointing towards a corner booth of the restaurant. Will peeked out from the cloth and saw a group of five boys around Lincoln's age huddled around a table.
"I can't let those guys see me on a 'date' with Ronnie Anne!" Lincoln grumbled making air quotes around the word 'date.' "I just convinced them she's not my girlfriend!"
"No worries, I got an idea!" Clyde said. He was still disguised as a waiter crawled out of the table and disappeared. Will crawled out from under the table and smiled awkwardly at Leni.
"Please excuse me. I gotta…..use the bathroom!" Will said, looking rather suspicious. Leni however, just simply nodded and let Will be on his way.
Clyde returned with a dessert cart. He and Will took off walking to the front door. Will noticed something behind the cabinet doors of the cart and knocked on it five times. Two knocks were returned to Will. He nodded understanding Lincoln was hiding in there.
The group made it about three feet from the front door until Clyde heard something he wanted to hear his whole life.
"We need the check." Lori said, her eyes scanned the restaurant. "Where did that cute little waiter go?"
"She says I'm cute!" Clyde gasped in excitement. He darted off to further assist Lori.
"Clyde!" Lincoln called as he poked his head out from under the cart, unfortunately it was in plain view of the boys he was trying to hide from.
"Hey Lincoln!" One of the boys said to him. Lincoln gulped and crawled out from the cart. The jig is up for him.
"Getting free desserts?" Another boy guessed.
"Yeah, I'm just here with friends." Lincoln said, trying to play cool leaning his back against Will's side like a bro pose. Will smirked and played along with Lincoln's plan.
One of the boys looked over Lincoln's shoulder and noticed who was at the table he's sitting at.
"Isn't that Ronnie Anne?"
Lincoln panicked as he tried to maintain his calmness. "Yes, I mean no….I mean, maybe I didn't know she was here."
"Wait a minute." Another one of the boys said, eyeing Lincoln's appearance."You're wearing khaki pants! You're wearing date clothes!"
"I knew it! Ronnie Anne is your girlfriend!" A boy teased as they all broke out in laughter. Will was getting ready to pop his knuckles and give the boys a warning for laughing at his best friend. However Lincoln spoke up first.
"She is not my girlfriend!" Lincoln asserted, he started listing adjectives with his fingers. "I already told you, Ronnie Anne is rude, and gross, and totally annoying! I'd rather lick the bathroom floor than kiss that weirdo!" Will's eyes bugged out hearing Lincoln insult his friend.
"LINCOLN!" Lori screamed at her brother hearing those words. He turned to see both Lori and Bobby giving him death looks. Ronnie Anne looked stunned but turned and ran to the front door of the restaurant with tears welling in her eyes.
Bobby glared at Lori. "We're broken up again!" Lori immediately broke down crying.
Leni walked up to Will with an angry look on her face. Will just smirked trying to play innocent.
"Just what were you doing?" She asked, confronting him.
"It looks like I was just roped into a bad standup attempt?" Will shrugged.
Unfortunately for Lincoln, the boys just pointed fingers at him and teased him about how much trouble he's in.
"OOOOOOOO BUSTED!" They went. Lincoln sighed and turned to Ronnie Anne as she opened the door to step out of the place. Lincoln crossed himself like a person at church as an idea popped into his head.
"Ronnie Anne!" He called. "Wait! There's something I gotta tell you." Lincoln pushed a stone decorative fountain into the middle of the whole restaurant and turned it upside down and stood tall on it to make an announcement.
"Can I have everyone's attention please?" Lincoln announced. Everyone in attendance at the restaurant paused what they were doing and leaned in, in anticipation. Ronnie Anne crossed her arms and glared at Lincoln, but he had her attention nonetheless.
Why do I have this feeling he's about to do something really drastic?
"I said some pretty horrible things to a girl who deserves better." Ronnie Anne's glare instantly vanished to a look of surprise. Lincoln crossed his feet nervously as he looked at her with a smile. Ronnie Anne you're really cool, and funny, and I had an awesome time hanging out with you tonight.
Ronnie Anne glared at Lincoln again but this time, it was a softer one. Lincoln sighed as he turned to Lori who returned the look after her face was messed up by running makeup from her crying.
"But as my Sister Lori once told me, actions speak louder than words." Lincoln said slightly boldly. Lori simply smiled and nodded in agreement. "So Instead of telling you how great you are, well….." Lincoln stepped down from his stand and offered his hand to Ronnie Anne who smiled and took it. Lincoln pulled her up on top of his stand and wrapped his arm around her waist. The two smiled at each other as everyone watching leaned in. Will was positively shocked.
No way he isn't!
Lincoln moved his face in and puckered up.
HE IS!
Lincoln swung Ronnie Anne around and kissed her deeply on the lips. The boys that were teasing Lincoln were making mocking and grossed out faces.
"YES!" Lori and Bobby cheered in unison as they hugged, knowing they can finally be back together. Clyde simply glared at this and stomped away.
"Awww how sweet!" Leni sighed watching the scene before her eyes. Will just stood still with his mouth hanging open. She saw this and giggled, Leni gently used her finger to push Will's mouth shut.
I meant what I said about those two being cute for each other. I never thought I'd be a witness to the first kiss!
"Ok ok lovebirds!" Bobby said, breaking the two up. "I think we've given everyone enough entertainment here for one night huh?" Once Lincoln and Ronnie Anne separated Lincoln looked at the other restaurant patrons who burst out in applause for the young couple.
Lori approached with the bill for the meal and had special news for the group. The manager came by and was so impressed with our display with what this restaurant is all about, he's giving us the meal for free!
"No way!" Will said happily.
"Unfortunately this doesn't apply to you and Leni." Lori added. Will just nervously scratched the back of his head.
"It's ok though." Leni said to Will. "I took care of it. We agreed that we'd treat you to this dinner so it's only fair."
"Thanks I guess." Will said to Lori and Leni.
"Let's get outta here." Ronnie Anne said. "I think we've had enough public displays of affection for one day."
The party all walked outside and started to pile into their respective cars. Will stayed behind to talk to Ronnie Anne.
"How do you feel about all this?" He asked her.
Ronnie Anne sighed and looked at Lincoln. "I gotta admit, the hurtful things he said did really hurt me, but…"
Will finished for her. "He was kind of backed into a corner if you know what I mean."
Ronnie Anne sighed and nodded in agreement. "I know I can go over the top with my pranks. Don't worry, I know how to fix this." She said, winking to Will.
Will smiled and also nodded in agreement. "Only thing that's bumming me out is now I gotta sacrifice hanging out with Lincoln so that you two can be together."
Ronnie Anne blushed and started acting defensive. "Oh no, that kiss just means we're really good friends. We're not getting married!"
"Whatever you say." Will chuckled.
Ronnie Anne smirked and turned it back to Will. "Don't think I noticed how you've been acting around Lincoln's other older sister!" Will blushed in response, but he only sighed and looked up at the sky. Ronnie Anne noticed this and was puzzled. "You totally like her, don't you?"
Will looked at Leni sitting in the driver's seat in Vanzilla, checking herself in the rearview mirror.
"To be honest I don't know if I do." Will answered honestly. "I know her golden heart is something I don't want to hurt. To be honest it's something I never really think about."
"But you get red as a tomato whenever she gets close to you." Ronnie Anne pointed out.
"Yes, although I do that when other ladies act affectionately or give me a very kind compliment." Will answered.
"Hmmm." Ronnie Anne pondered. "I guess you're just not used to getting that kind of attention from girls." Will still smiled and rolled his eyes.
Clever girl.
"Well I gotta go." Ronnie Anne said as she saw Bobby getting impatient in his car. "See ya Will!" He waved goodbye to her as the two groups began the drive home.
The next day Lincoln and Will were once again playing Mortal Kombat on the Super Nintendo as it's clear Lincoln got his focus back.
"FINISH HIM!"
Lincoln was Sub-Zero as he performed a Fatality on Will, who's playing as Johnny Cage.
"I'm pulling your head off, with your spine." Lincoln said mockingly. "I win, you lose!"
"Sub-Zero, Wins! Fatality!"
"So Ronnie Anne exploded at you in anger about kissing her?" Will asked her.
"Yeah, she even slapped me!" Lincoln laughed.
"You seem pretty chill about it." Will pointed out.
Lincoln smiled. "Ronnie Anne slipped me an ice pack with a note attached apologizing, also hoping that the teasing stopped. After she slapped me, oddly enough, the teasing really did come to a halt."
Clever girl indeed.
Lincoln felt he had to say something to Will about last night. "You know, Leni told us about the stories you told her about your extended family."
Will groaned in displeasure as he rolled his eyes.
Gee news travels fast.
"Don't be mad at her." Lincoln said, seeing Will's disapproving face. "She pointed something out that's pretty important."
"What's that?" Will scoffed.
"She said she noticed how you're not so, 'closed off,' as you used to be." Lincoln explained. "When it comes to talking about your life before you moved here. You don't even easily flare up with anger so easily when your mom comes up. Like you used to, you know?"
"Yeah but I still don't want to." Will asserted, he felt like Lincoln touched a nerve bringing her up.
"I think you should at least talk about it." Lincoln argued. "Although only when you're good and ready."
"Whatever, let's just play." Will said quickly ending the conversation as the boys picked new characters to fight as.
