A/N Hello everyone. Here's the new chapter. I actually really looked forward to this one because this episode is actually one of my favorites in the series. Please take a look at the notes at the end of the chapter for some interesting news about the next one! For now, enjoy!
Dance Dance Resolution.
It's been some time since Lynn and Lincoln's football scheme. Will was racing home from school on his bike, he had a big smile on his face. The weekend is approaching and a lot of interesting things are about to unfold.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy. I get to go home and see my dad, it's a week off for him and luckily I get out of cooking dinner. Don't get the wrong idea about me. I am very happy that I get to spend some time with him tonight, not cooking dinner is kind of a bonus.
Will made it home and parked his bike and ran back inside his home and his smile sank as he was met with a sight he wasn't prepared for.
Nicholas was sitting on the couch, holding hands and making romantic faces with Ms. Johnson, who returned to loving looks. Will felt a little ill seeing this sight.
Look, I have accepted the fact that dad has a girlfriend that he likes, and I'll respect Lincoln's teacher. Although I haven't really gotten used to them getting all 'lovey dovey' with each other in front of me. All I can say is, thank god they're not doing it in public. Or worse, in public in front of me.
"Uh, hey guys." Will said, feeling a little uneasy.
"Hi son, have a nice day at school?" Nicholas asked. Hardly taking his eyes off Ms. Johnson.
"Learn anything interesting today?" Ms. Johnson asked.
"Mostly just nutrition and how to settle a sick stomach." Will explained, not subtly hinting at something.
The couple got the hint and giggled and looked away from each other.
"Actually I'm glad you're back." Ms. Johnson said with great enthusiasm. "I have a great Idea for you." Will's uneasy feeling hasn't quite gone away.
"What is it?" Will asked, feeling a chill run down his spine.
Ms. Johnson gave Will a Sympathetic look. "Your sweet father told me about the unfortunate incident at your school dance. I'm sorry that happened."
"Gee dad, thanks alot." Will grumbled giving his dad an annoyed look. Nicholas just shrugged.
I know I shouldn't be that angry at dad, I mean is it really a big secret that we need to take to our graves?
"What do you have in mind?" Will asked, sighing.
Nicholas chimed in. "Ask Leni out again, this time do it yourself, don't have Lori help you." Will got annoyed and rolled his eyes.
"I can't." Will objected with a slightly angry voice. He rubbed his eyes with his fingers. "I ruined any chance I had with her."
"Don't say that until you ask." Ms. Johnson said, throwing a finger at Will's face. Her face was a stern smile showing determination. "You won't know until you try again."
"Ok ok ok!" Will exclaimed. Waving his hands downward. "What's the big idea?" Ms. Johnson had a big smirk on her face.
"This Friday is a dance at my school." She said. "I want you to come and I'll teach you how to dance so that you can be better prepared for your second chance with your love." That suggestion caused Will's anger to boil and his mind raced to what's wrong with that suggestion.
"NO WAY! NO!" Will yelled, crossing his arms. "Seriously? Me, a highschooler, going to an elementary school dance, with a teacher? It's way too embarrassing!"
"Believe me I understand." Ms. Johnson said, raising her hands hoping to calm Will down. "I can pull strings no one has to know what you're doing at the dance for."
Will started to calm down, he squinted his eyes. "What kind of strings?"
Ms. Johnson was all too happy Will asked. "Me and a couple other teachers can make it to me, you and a couple of groups of other teachers are the only ones both before and after the dance itself."
Sounds like a fair deal I guess. However there's still one important detail she's leaving out.
"What about during the dance?" Will asked.
"Well, that's the thing." Ms. Johnson sighed. "You gotta be a volunteer worker. Like work security, or giving out refreshments. That's the agreement I worked out with the principal if he's gonna allow a highschooler at the dance."
Nicholas had to add. "If things really are ruined between you and Leni you can use what you learned with the next girl you go out with."
"Hmmmmm." Will went thinking about the offer.
It is a tempting offer, I mean the risk of being seen as if I'm dating a teacher, especially my dad's new girlfriend. On the other hand….they do make an interesting case if I hadn't completely blown my chances with Leni.
Will thought and thought for about ten minutes. Staring at Ms. Johnson and Nicholas. Finally sighing.
"Ok, I'll do it." He answered.
"Excellent!" Nicholas cheered.
I hope this works out like they said it would. It'll be embarrassing beyond all reason, however if it pays off, I may have a second chance.
The next day after school. Will, Lincoln and Clyde were talking about the upcoming dance. Especially since Will's gonna be there.
"Ms. Johnson roped you into helping out in some way?" Lincoln asked.
"Yep." Will answered. "Didn't say what for though."
Clyde remarked. "Guess it can be an annoyance with your dad dating our teacher." Will rolled his eyes but didn't pay it anymore mind.
I didn't say that I'm gonna be practicing dancing with Ms. Johnson. If word gets out about that, the humiliation would be soul crushing.
"I take it everyone's getting excited?" Will asked. "You and the others got dates?"
"Not really." Lincoln said, scratching the back of his head. "I don't wanna go."
"Me neither." Clyde said. Will raised an eyebrow at this.
Lincoln explained. "I learned Ronnie Anne was looking for me and I've been avoiding her at all costs."
"Don't wanna get together with her, especially after the kissing date?" Will said, nudging Lincoln's elbow. "Although Lincoln, Ronnie Anne never struck me as the dancing type."
"That's not it." Lincoln corrected. "There's a special two for one deal at the Arcade that night and I'm not missing it."
"Man, that sounds like fun." Will said. "Why didn't I hear about this, I could have gotten out of this dance."
Really, if I had known about the deal I would have said that as my excuse to get out of it.
"I'm not going because my heart's already set on the woman of my dreams." Clyde declared placing his hands on his heart. Lincoln and Will rolled their eyes at the same time.
Lincoln quickly added. "However Liam, Rusty, and Zach are really trying to get dates. They've been laying the charm on the girls at Lunch all this and last week! Today you should have seen them try to win over Girl Jordan!"
"Oh boy that must have been humiliating!" Will sighed in pity for the boys.
Clyde explained. "This is a Sadie Hawkins dance so the girls ask the boys out."
Girl Jordan is someone I'm slightly familiar with. I've only seen her a couple of times, never talked to her. For some reason everyone in the school just calls her, 'Girl' Jordan. I mean, obviously there has to be a 'Boy' Jordan but I've never seen or heard of him. All I know about her is apparently she's one of the most popular and prettiest girls in Lincoln's School. Honestly before Ronnie Anne came along, I was kind of rooting for Lincoln to date her.
After a few minutes Clyde separated from Lincoln and Will. Will and Lincoln went to the Louds to hang out together.
Once Lincoln opened the door the two were met with a shocking sight of all the Loud sisters excitedly gathering around Lincoln with big smiles on their faces. Lincoln and Will gulped in fear of what was about to happen, but what? They didn't know.
"Did Ronnie Anne ask you to the dance yet?" Leni asked Lincoln.
"I….uh…um." Lincoln sweated and stammered.
"I bet she was so excited." Lori said, shaking her hands excitedly. "The Sadie Hawkins is literally the most important dance in a girl's life!"
Lincoln calmed down and sighed, putting on a sad face.
"Actually Ronnie Anne didn't even ask me." Lincoln explained. All the sister's faces fell in disappointment and pity. "Yeah, I waited around all day, it just never happened."
"Sigh." Lucy said. "Poor big brother, you must be devastated."
Leni then gave Will a glare. Will sank a little, feeling the coldness in her look.
Man I know she forgave me. I know that since another dance is coming up, of course she's gonna still be feeling a little bitter about it.
"Oh don't worry I'll get through it somehow." Lincoln assured. The sisters all smiled slightly and walked away.
Will looked at Lincoln and laughed slightly.
"You sort of stretched the truth didn't ya?" He said.
Lincoln shrugged. "Hey, I would've told them the truth, but believe me. They wouldn't understand."
"Somehow, I think you're right on this one." Will agreed.
Friday came and Will was at the Elementary School Gym with many teachers, including Ms. Johnson putting up purple and blue streamers along the ceiling, one teacher was at a helium tank filling up balloons. Will was working with one teacher setting up tables.
Will grunted as did the teacher on the opposite side of an eight foot table they were moving. They laid it on its side and pulled out the metal legs and set it standing up.
"Thanks." The teacher said, Will raised his hand to say 'no problem.' He used that hand to wipe sweat off his head.
A couple of other teachers were placing tablecloths on the tables, then placing refreshments and other stuff on them. On the east side a few teachers were setting up a sound stage as a DJ moved his audio equipment as well as his turntables inside the gym.
Some time had passed and it was an hour and a half until the dance started. No students had arrived yet. There were many paper stars hanging from the ceiling in addition to the streamers and balloons. The middle of the ceiling had a large sparkly disco ball hanging down.
Everything came along nicely. Will said looking over the hard work that was done. Mrs. Johnson stood at his side. She whistled, Will started to feel uneasy as another teacher appeared with a large cd player and put in a disc. Romantic dance music started to play.
"Ready to start?" Ms. Johnson offered Will her hand. Will gulped.
"Now?" Will gasped looking around and noticing that there were many teachers still in the Gym, doing last minute set up.
Ms. Johnson giggled. "Don't worry, I talked it over and they agreed to let us practice. Besides,
who are they gonna tell?"
Honestly I had no idea she had such pull at this school. My dad's a veteran at his job and not even he can call on such favors.
His hand shook but he reached out and took her hand.
"I feel and see your anxiety." Ms. Johnson said in a calm voice, as if to soothe Will. "According to your father this was the primary catalyst for the disaster of your evening."
"That's not really true." Will weakly argued. "Once me and her started dancing. It was magical, I was lost in the music and her beauty." Ms. Johnson furrowed her eyebrows as she knew Will wasn't telling the whole story.
Will sighed as he knew it was time to tell more of the truth that he himself didn't really acknowledge.
"Ok, I truly was lost in the magic of it all." Will confessed. "I guess I was a little distracted by the fact I messed up a little earlier that evening and I was nervous about messing up again."
"Unfortunately that's exactly what happened." Ms. Johnson said, rather bluntly.
"Yeah." Will grumbled.
Ms. Johnson spoke happily. "Only by practice will you be able to dance better and maintain focus." Ms. Johnson jerked Will's arm, and lightly forced his hand to hold hers in a waltz position and took his other hand and placed it on her waist. Will grunted and groaned as he felt. Ms. Johnson pulled Will around the gym in an awkward and vain attempt to dance.
Many teachers ignored the hilarious scene, others just broke out giggling. One teacher even tried to take out their phone to record this but another teacher did the right thing and stopped her. Will blushed and started to grow a little angry at the humiliation.
I'm gonna lose my mind if this gets out because of them!
"I know you're not trying." Ms. Johnson grunted as she jerked Will to the left.
"I…gah!" Will gaged feeling the force of her pull. She continued to move Will around like a rag doll. "No…offense, but you're not the girl I like. There's no magic in dancing with you." Suddenly Ms. Johnson stopped. She let Will go as she thought of his words.
"Hmmm. Good point." She pondered.
"You two!" The principal called. A stern looking older gentleman with a balding head with hair only a few strands on the top and the hairline around the ears and the back of the head. A big white mustache was on his face that was very well groomed. He wore brown dress shoes and tan khakis. He wore a blue suit and matching tie. This guy just oozed discipline and order.
"Yes Mr. Huggins?" Ms. Johnson answered.
"Enough whatever you two are doing!" He shouted, waving his hands dismissively. "The students will be here any moment! Get to your positions and get ready!"
Ms. Johnson moved to the front door where the students would be entering. Next to her was a small table that had a bowl on it full of pink raffle tickets. Will took his position at the refreshments table.
Yeah, to get me in this event. Ms. Johnson convinced the staff to let me be the food and drinks guy. I'd rather be home watching T.V. with Dad, but hey. He would have forced me here in some way anyhow.
Will's phone started ringing and he took it out of his pocket. It was Ronnie Anne who was calling. Will answered it.
"Hey Ronnie Anne." Will said with enthusiasm.
"Hey Will." She replied. "I was looking for Lincoln all day and couldn't find him anywhere. Have you seen him?"
"I'm afraid not in the past couple hours. I'm doing some work at your school's dance tonight."
Ronnie Anne laughed. "Really? This I gotta see! I'm definitely gonna be there now! See ya Will!"
Ronnie Anne hung up the phone and Will placed his back in his pocket.
Well, at least she's not gonna see me dancing.
A couple of hours passed and the gym was full of kids. Some were just in groups conversing with each other, there were quite a few couples in the middle of the gym dancing. For a dance this was rather informal as no kid or teacher was well dressed for the occasion. Will recognised a few and to his surprise approaching the refreshment table was Lincoln's gang. Zach, Liam, and Rusty.
"Hey Will, why are you here?" Rusty asked.
"Three punches please." Liam requested. Will grabbed the ladle sitting in the big punch bowl and poured some of the drink into three plastic cups.
"As you can see, I am the food and beverage manager here tonight." Will said in a somewhat proud voice, handing the cups to the three
I know such a title only exists in businesses that serve food, but hey I'll just pretend this is the case for me to make me feel better about being here.
"I guess you get to see everything unfold." Zach said.
Will asked. "So, did you guys manage to get dates?"
"No." Liam sighed, defeated. The others hung their heads in sadness. However Rusty quickly picked up his head.
"It's ok though, we can still get a cool prize." He said with a little cheer. The others picked their heads up and felt a little better.
Liam explained. "Ms. Johnson is giving raffle tickets for a prize to have lunch with her in the teacher's lounge."
"Huh." Will scoffed. "Interesting prize."
"Oh come on." Liam sighed at Will's sarcasm. "I always wanted to know what the teacher's lounge was like." Will simply smiled in response.
I kind of did when I was their age.
The boys left and just stood by the bleachers and talked with each other. Soon Clyde, wearing a backpack, approached the table and asked Will for a muffin which Will gladly handed him.
"Hey Clyde didn't expect to see you here." Will said. "I thought you'd be at the Arcade with Lincoln."
Clyde giggled a little. "Unfortunately Lincoln got roped into four dates by Luna, Lucy, Luan, and Lynn. When they thought Ronnie Anne didn't ask Lincoln they decided to set him up. Too bad for him, even after he said that he'd rather go to the Arcade instead, they told him he couldn't stand up his dates. I'm here to keep him on track so this quadruple date goes smoothly."
Will, blinked in surprise. "Wow, four dates? Who knew Lincoln had a way with women." Both Will and Clyde laughed.
"I gotta admit though." Clyde said. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"It was my dad's girlfriend's idea." Will said, rolling his eyes.
"Uh, you know she has a name right?" Clyde said. "It's Agnes."
"I do." Will sighed. "I mean, I'm ok with her and she is a nice lady. I guess I'm just not comfortable enough to be on a first name basis with her yet."
Clyde shrugged. "I guess I can see that. Even I think it's weird that your dad's dating Me, Lincoln, and Ronnie Anne's teacher. But I guess it's ok if your dad's happy right?"
"Yeah, he is." Will smiled.
Suddenly the door to the gym opened and Lincoln entered. Ms. Johnson handed Lincoln his raffle ticket. Clyde and Will noticed this, and Clyde waved goodbye and darted off towards Lincoln.
More and more guests came and went from Will's presence as he served drinks and food. Will noticed Lincoln was doing air piano with a cute girl with black hair with purple streaks. Her hair was hardened to stand up and be spiky. She wore a purple jacket over a black and white striped shirt and a violet skirt. She was wearing white platformers on her feet. She did air guitar as Lincoln did air piano.
Ah, that's gotta be Luna's date for Lincoln. I do wonder how she knows Luna though.
About five minutes later after serving a couple with drinks, Will looked back to Lincoln and saw he was gone. His eyes scanned the room and he found Lincoln a few feet away from the refreshment table with a new girl. This one was dressed as a clown, a yellow bowler hat with a blue ribbon around it. A pink flower was sticking up out of the top of it. She wore light and dark blue checkered sleeves and a lime green overcoat with dark blue pants. Her shoes were oversized red clown shoes. Her face had a red clown nose and purple makeup around her eyes in a diamond shape. Her hair was made into two large buns.
That's gotta be Luan's friend. Wow, whoever this one is, clearly takes the comedic roleplaying way to seriously.
The girl offered Lincoln her hand for him to shake, Lincoln grabbed it and got shocked. He clearly grabbed a handshake buzzer. Lincoln just laughed and did the finger point and flick the nose trick, which the girl laughed at in return.
After another five minutes Lincoln was gone again. Will looked around and found him at the bleachers. This time he was with a goth girl, not that different from Lucy. She had long shiny black hair and violet dress that looked like something one would wear to a funeral. Around her waist was a black belt with a skull in the center for the buckle. She wore magenta colored eyeliner and was reading from a book that was the same color. Lincoln sat next to her wearing a sad, depressed face that matched her own.
I don't know who that is, but no doubt that's a member of Lucy's Morticians Club here at this school. According to Lucy, they all don't like me very much because I play Castlevania. A game to them is about the systematic murder of their loved ones and symbols.
They simply sat and talked, about what wasn't clear. This lasted until Lincoln once again stood up and walked away. He seemed to wander aimlessly, clearly looking for something. That is until a tall skinny girl deliberately slammed her hips into Lincoln sending him flying and crashing into a wall. She wore a roller derby uniform, a yellow shirt with a 'P' on it and purple shorts. Wearing pink and white striped wristbands and a pink helmet with yellow star stickers on it, strapped to her head. She wasn't wearing shoes but roller skates, explaining how she was able to hit Lincoln like that. Her brown hair was tied into two lower buns.
"Ouch!" Will winced when he saw that.
That's clearly Lynn's date, I had no idea that she was into roller derby. Although I probably shouldn't be surprised.
The girl lifted Lincoln over her head and spun him around like helicopter blades and slammed him into the floor. This caused Will to wince again.
The night was actually going by rather smoothly. Lincoln had to keep jumping from his four dates but it seemed he wasn't having trouble making sure they had a good time. Will sighed as he watched him.
Man, four girls at his first dance and he's doing waaaaaaaaaaay, better than I did. Way to go Lincoln.
Lincoln and Clyde met up again once Lincoln separated from the clown girl. They went into the restroom. Unfortunately once that happened someone arrived. Ronnie Anne walked through the main doors and began to look around. Will felt a little nervous for Lincoln.
Man, I know they're not technically 'together' but what's she gonna think when she sees him with four other girls?
Ronnie Anne smiled once she saw Will and approached him. Will handed her a muffin which she took gratefully.
"So it's true, they got you working here tonight?" She laughed. Will nodded. She paused and looked around. "Dances aren't my thing, but I guess they did ok with this set up."
Will had to ask. "So, I know you said you wanted to see me working, but what exactly brings you here?"
She sighed. "Well, I was hoping to catch Lincoln. I didn't see him all week and it seems like he's not here either. I'm gonna look around, maybe he's here somewhere. See ya!" Ronnie Anne ate the muffin Will gave her and began to walk around looking for Lincoln.
A few seconds later Will heard a loud 'thump' under the table he's standing at. He looked underneath it and found Lincoln and Clyde hiding.
"Uh, I assume you saw Ronnie Anne?" Will remarked.
"Yeah." Lincoln said softly, but also in a panicked tone. "What am I gonna do?"
"You can't stay under here!" Clyde answered. "You're thirty seconds late with an air harmonica with Tabby!"
"Who?" Will asked.
"The rocker girl." Clyde said. Will nodded in affirmation. However Lincoln's face lit up as he had an idea. Lincoln asked Will to spot the other guys and get them to come to the table. Rolling his eyes, Will accepted. He slowly scanned the room and found the three and whistled to them and beckoned them to come with his hand. They came and Will just pointed down at the table.
"Psst!" Lincoln whispered loudly. "Down here!" Zach, Rusty, and Liam all climbed under the table and hid with Lincoln and Clyde. Will wasn't watching them, but could hear everything they were saying.
"How would you guys like someone to dance with?" Lincoln asked his friends.
"Sorry Lincoln, you're not my type." Rusty scoffed.
Lincoln rolled his eyes. "Not with me, with girls!"
"Girls!?" Rusty, Zach and Liam said frightened.
"On second thought I'd rather dance with you!" Rusty amended his statement.
"C'mon guys!" Clyde said. "It's not that big of a deal! Pop a breath mint. Look 'em in the eye, make sure your fly is up and you're golden."
"I need you out there to Clyde!" Lincoln added. The four guys climbed out from under the table and inhaled deeply and walked over to Lincoln's four dates trying to be brave. Will snickered as he watched them.
I know adults that have trouble with the same thing me and these guys are doing. I suppose it doesn't get better with age for some people.
Interestingly, the girls seemed a little concerned about where Lincoln was, once the guys approached them all. They smiled and it looked like they all accepted them. The roller girl instantly grabbed Rusty and spun him around and flung him back towards the table. Will's eyes widened in horror as he dashed to the left and Rusty toppled over the table knocking it over, spilling the refreshments all over the place and exposing Lincoln.
"Ugh." Rusty groaned. "That girl Polly is quite a handful, and I like it!" He said with a bright smile.
"No kidding." Will remarked, seeing Rusty clearly ok. Will looked to where Lincoln was and he disappeared. Will grumbled and started to save what food that was still ok and a second punch bowl was quickly set up and filled by other teachers. Will placed the little food on an adjacent table.
I worked hard with the other teachers to set that up. I hope I'm not the only one who's gonna clean this up when the dance is over, otherwise I'm not doing it.
"Lincoln?" The voice of Ronnie Anne said behind Will as she approached. "Hey Will, I thought I saw Lincoln here." He just shrugged in response. Suddenly the DJ's records scratched as a voice spoke in a distorted, auto tuned voice.
"AlL rIGht pArTY PeoPle I WaNnA SEE yOU on THe DaNcE FloOR!"
Will and Ronnie Anne turned to see the guy at the microphone wearing an orange polo, and sunglasses with oversized lenses and a large black beanie. Will laughed softly knowing who it really was. A techno beat dance song started playing which instantly got everyone moving. The real DJ returned to his station with a plate of food. He looked quite irritated that someone had taken his spot, the fake DJ yelped and ran away.
Ronnie Anne disappeared into the crowd looking for Lincoln then once the DJ took his spot back he stopped the music and Ms. Johnson took a microphone and spoke with a spotlight on her.
"Attention everyone!" She announced, standing on a stool with the raffle tub next to her. "The lucky student who gets to have lunch with me in the teacher's lounge is…" She reached in and took out a ticket. "Lincoln Loud!" Once the announcement was made a spotlight was put on him and he started to run like crazy to get away from it. Unfortunately he tripped and landed at the feet of the four dates he was with and they all gave Lincoln an angry stare. They exchanged words that Will couldn't hear but they all smiled and went back to their four new dates.
Lincoln breathed a sigh of relief but Ronnie Anne managed to catch him.
Oops, poor Lincoln. I guess he's stuck here tonight.
"We're gonna close out Sadie Hawkins with a slow dance." The DJ announced. A slow yet soft romantic song started to play. Lincoln's gang all seemed to enjoy it with their girls. Lincoln and Ronnie Anne approached Will together.
"Hey guys, what's going on?" Will asked.
"We're going to the arcade." Ronnie Anne answered.
"Think you'll be outta here in time to join us?" Lincoln asked.
"Nah." Will sighed. "I have a lot to do here, especially after everyone leaves. He gave them a nervous smile."
Gotta be careful and not say the real reason why.
Ronnie Anne and Lincoln looked at each other and then gave Will a suspicious look. They could tell he was hiding something, but they just shrugged.
"Sorry you can't come." Lincoln said.
"See you around!" Ronnie Anne said as she waved and the two walked out the door. Will breathed a sigh of relief and watched the dancers. Rusty's date threw Rusty again and he slammed into the wall, however despite the pain, he never lost his smile.
Will watched Lincoln's friends dance and look at their girls in the eyes so easily. He sighed in sadness and looked down feeling disappointed.
I can't believe it. My date went wrong because I was too scared of messing up. Looking at Lincoln's friends, doing what I failed to do so easily. I feel a little pathetic.
The evening came to an end and the students left. Lincoln's friends all left with their dates happily on their arms. Will sighed again seeing them do something seemingly so easily that he couldn't. Luckily he wasn't the only one to clean up the food mess made by Rusty. After about half an hour Ms Johnson approached Will again.
"Alright Will." She said, offering her hand. "Ready to try again?"
"I don't know." Will said, clutching his left arm nervously. He looked to the side feeling a little ashamed. "I mean I don't think we can, I mean you know? Without the 'magic?'"
"No worries." Ms. Johnson said. "I will not speak. Just shut your eyes and imagine that I am the girl you love. Your heart will guide you until you can master this. We can make this easier now because this time, we got music." She pointed to the DJ station that was still set up. A single disc was sitting on one of the turntables.
Will sighed. "Well, I guess I don't have much to lose." He took Ms. Johnson's hand and the two returned to the center of the gym. Then the DJ appeared again and Ms. Johnson gave him a non-verbal signal to start the music. The DJ did just that and Will closed his eyes. He only focused on the music. His imagination took over and the darkness in his mind was filled with the school gym and the lady before him was Leni. Dressed in the same beautiful outfit in the dance before. Will took her hand and placed his arm around her waist and began to dance around.
Hey, what do you know? It's working! I don't seem to notice or care that Ms. Jhon-
"OUCH!" Ms. Johnson shrieked. Will snapped out of it and noticed he stepped on her foot. The music scratched to a halt. The few teachers that remained winced at the sight of the accident.
"Sorry!" Will panicked reaching for her leg. Ms. Johnson simply slapped it away. I got a little distracted. Ms. Johnson was irritated about Will stepping on her but she clearly can control her emotions, much better than Will can.
"Don't worry about it." She replied, staring at her shoe which had no visible signs of damage. Her foot must be ok. "I'm a teacher, I can handle it. Accidents happen. Try again."
The music started up again from the beginning of the song. Will once again closed his eyes and put himself into his lovely imaginative scenario again.
He and Leni continued to dance. Will's heart raced as he danced with her again. This time it seemed as if it was going ok.
"Oof!" Ms. Johnson and Will gagged as they danced into a table and tumbled over it landing on the floor. Ms. Johnson had minor aches on her right leg and arm. Will had pain in his ankle he may have twisted it.
"Ow." Will groaned. "That hurt. What happened?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Ms. Johnsons answered. Grabbing her arm, Will grabbed his ankle. "You were leading and you danced us into a table."
"I hate to say it." Will said, dismayed. "While your suggestion does seem to do good at the start. It's dangerous since I'm dancing with my eyes closed."
"You gotta let me lead." Ms. Johnson said. "This is merely step one, step two is you can lead, step three is we can dance with me, with your eyes open. Step four is you and me in a crowd. Once you master each of these. You will be ready." Will gulped in fear at what this might entail.
"You said me and you in a crowd!" Will said. "You promised no one would know about this?"
"Yes." Ms. Johnson asserted. "You gotta learn to do this despite distractions occurring around you. Which includes other people. Don't worry with the arrangement I set up for us once we get to the final step, no one will know what we're doing." She stood up and reached for Will's hand. "Come on. We're going again!"
"What?" Will said with his mouth agape. "But, my ankle."
"No excuses." She countered. "Come on!"
I guess this is what I get for having my dancing instructor be an actual school teacher.
An hour and a half passed and Ms. Johnson and Will returned home. Nicholas was sitting on the couch watching a horror movie with a slice of pizza in hand. He looked behind the couch and noticed the light bruises on both of them but pretended not to see.
"So how was it?" He asked.
Ms. Johnson sighed. "I believe in him but we have a lot of work to do." Will simply looked to the floor feeling embarrassed.
A/N That's the end of this one. As I said earlier this is one of my favorite episodes in the series. The part where Lincoln speaks with the auto tuned voice for me is really funny and I never get tired of hearing it. What's your favorite episode and what do you love about it? Let me know in a review or PM!
Next chapter is gonna be 'One of the Boys,' and yes, this will feature Will if he was born a girl. You won't wanna miss it! See you all next time!
