As I said before I do not own Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, they are strictly the property of both The Awdry Family and Britt Allcroft. I am also dedicating this chapter to both Darkknight55 and BurnedSmackDown whose humanized stories inspired me to write this one, for that I thank both you fine gentlemen.

Episode 1: Thomas and Gordon, Original Airdate: 9th October 1984

There are many types vehicles that people use for traveling around in. There are cars which either people either own or use as taxis, there airplanes which people use for traveling to other countries either for business trips or on an exotic holidays with either their friends or families and then the are ships which are used for cruises or taking cargo from one country to another.

However there is one type of vehicle that stands out from them all, the locomotive. The locomotive came in three varieties, the steam engine, the diesel engine and the electric engine.

The most famous of the three was the steam locomotive, due its iconic nature. Its use of coal and water which of both were used to power it. The steam locomotive was first introduced to the world by Richard Trevithick in 1804 and within the period of 5 decades and spread to the corners of the world, becoming the main method of transport, not only in Great Britain but also in other countries like Ireland, South Africa, Continental Europe and the United States of America.

However by the early 1950s diesel engines had begun to appear on the scene causing many railway companies to retire steam engines due to them becoming to expanse, all diesels needed were a fill of fuel and a turn of the key and they were off and by 1968 steam engines had being completely withdrawn from service and many of them were scrapped and melted down to make more diesels. Luckily however some steam engines were preserved and were put to work on the many heritage railways all over England one such example being the Bluebell Railway.

However there was a place where steam engines were never withdrawn and were kept in regular service. Located between England's Lake District and the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea was the Island of Sodor. Also know as heritage island due to many of its inhabitants still using phone booths and driving vintage cars and trucks, however those were not Sodor's biggest claims to fame, that instead came in the form of its railways. Sodor was the home was the world famous North Western Railway which was famous for still using steam engines on a daily bases.

The North Western Railway was founded in 1914 by Sir Gerald Hatt who convinced Sodor's other three railway companies, the Sodor and Mainline Railway, the Wellsworth and Suddery Railway and the Tidmouth, Knapford and Elsbridge Light Railway to merge together and form one big railway company. Later when British railways started withdrawing steam engines from regular service and replacing them with diesel engines, Gerald's son Jonathan Hatt who had taken over from him had put out a poll, asking the people of Sodor if they either wanted to keep steam engines in service or replace them with diesels. Much to both his surprise and relief they voted to keep steam engines in service and to this day the North Western Railway has kept steam engines in service.

It was night on the Island of Sodor and in a medium sized house, located in village of Ffarquhar a young man was putting his two year old daughter to bed. The young man's name was Thomas Billinton, he was a handsome young man of 23 with black hair and blue eyes and was the driver of a LB&SCR E2 Tank Engine owned by the North Western Railway. He lived in a 5 bedroom house with his parents, two younger sisters and his daughter of course, he was also a kind-hearted person who loved his family and friends very much.

As he lay his daughter whose name was Lucy down to sleep in her crib he was saw that she wasn't tired.

"Alright Lucy it's time for you to go sleep" said Thomas to his daughter.

Lucy just giggled "Me no sleepy daddy", Lucy was just like any other child and that was not wanting to go to sleep.

Thomas signed thinking of a way to get Lucy to go to sleep when he suddenly remembered something from his childhood. When he would not sleep his parents would tell him a story which send him sleep within a few minutes.

"Alright if I tell you a story will you go to sleep?" Thomas asked his daughter.

"Yes please daddy" said Lucy happily.

"Alright then" said Thomas smiling as he sat down on the chair next to her crib. "The story I want to tell you is how your uncle Gordon got back a me for teasing him, I was eighteen years old and just begun my tuition at Sodor's College for Train Drivers" Thomas said beginning his story.

(Story Begins)

It was the year 2008, the great recession had just begun. Sir Edmund Hilary, first man to climb Mount Everest had passed away and the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.

Thomas Billinton was a young 18 year old man wearing blue overalls, he had just graduated from Secondary School and had just started attending Sodor's College for Train Drivers. After starting he was given a blue LB&SCR E2 Tank Engine with a yellow number 1 painted on both sides, his favorite locomotive. Right now, meeting with the head of the North Western Railway, a stout man wearing black trousers, a black tailcoat, a yellow waistcoat and a black top hat whose named Sir Bertram Topham Hatt, grandson of Sir Gerald Hatt.

"Now that young Thomas" he boomed "since your new to the railway you will first need to learn the basics".

"Oh yes please sir" said Thomas happily.

Sir Topham Hatt just smiled at the young man's enthusiasm. He had found a potential new employee for his family's railway.

"Right then young Thomas, for your first job you will be working at Knapford Station for a while" informed Sir Topham Hatt.

Thomas was pleased that he would be a working a big station" "And what will my jobs be sir?" he asked.

"You will be shunting the rolling stock and getting the trains ready for the engines to take away and if you learn enough then I'll maybe let you pull a train" informed Sir Topham Hatt "think that you can handle it"?

"You can rely on me sir" said Thomas excitedly.

"Good" said Sir Topham Hatt, "now it's time for you and your father to head on your way".

Just then Howard Billinton who was Thomas' fireman as well as his father came up to the engine. He then climbed in they then set off.

Knapford Station was the main station on the Island of Sodor and a result was remarkably busy. Trains were always coming in and bringing either passengers or goods trains, the station itself had a large canopy and six tracks, four being through tracks and two being terminus tracks. Knapford Station also had a small café, a drivers locker room, a small book stand and Sir Topham's Hatt's office where he overlooked the engines and the North Western Railway's affairs.

Thomas was excited to be working there. He befriended two engine drivers who worked, Edward Pettigrew who was a kind 25 year old man with dark brown hair and blue eyes, like Thomas he was dress in blue overalls. The engine he drove was a blue Furness Railway K2 Class Tender Engine with the number 2 painted yellow on both sides of the tenders and Henry Stanier who was a 23 year man with green eyes and black hair who also wore green overalls. The engine that he drove was a green LNER A1 and LNER C1 hybrid tender engine with the number 3 painted in yellow on both sides of its tender and like Edward he was kind but also prone to anxiety.

Thomas began to enjoy working at the station he became friendly with many passengers and railway staff. Everyday he would bring either coaches or goods trains to the platform for the big engines to take away on their journeys and when trains come in he would take the empty coaches away so that the drivers of the big engines could go and take a rest before their next journey.

Thomas was shunting train for Henry to take away. It was a small train, consisting of two green express coaches, a utility van and a brake van. Once Henry was coupled up he thanked Thomas and set off on his journey.

However there was a third engine driver there who wasn't as friendly as Edward or Henry. His name was Gordon Gresley, he was a muscular man with blond hair and deep blue eyes and dressed in blue overalls who was also the great, great grandson of famed locomotive builder Sir Nigel Gresley who drove a blue LNER A1 Tender Engine with the number 4 painted in yellow on the sides of the tenders. Gordon wasn't a very rude or nasty person, however due to his heritage as Gresley's descendant he was quite pompous and arrogant and would look down on Thomas as if he was beneath him.

"You see little Thomas" he would often say to him "my engine is the pride of the North Western Railway as she's the strongest and biggest".

Thomas thought that Gordon was a rude and pompous person who treated others like dirt. Edward however thought differently.

"Never mind him Thomas, he's the way he is because his great, great grandfather was a famous locomotive designer" Edward told him kindly "and unfortunately it's given him a bit of an ego".

"Well I intend to teach that bossy twit a thing or two" replied Thomas.

The reason why Gordon boasted that his engine was the biggest and strongest was because he pulled the Wild Nor' Wester which was the Sodor express. Everyday he would take the morning express from Knapford to Vicarstown and then from Vicarstown back to Knapford and then he would do it again in the evening. Due to the Wild Nor' Wester being quite heavy Gordon's engine was one of the few that were strong enough to pull it which made him feel quite important and would brag about it, much to the other drivers dismay, especially to Thomas who decided to pay Gordon back by scaring him.

One day Gordon was having lunch after having pulled the morning express. He was sitting on his engines footplate having some ham and cheese sandwiches, a bag of salt and vinegar Walkers Crisps and a bottle of Coca Cola

"Sometimes its hungry work being such a splendid engine driver" Gordon said to himself as he unscrewed the cap of his coke.

However before he could take a sip of his drink a loud whistle rang out causing Gordon to jump in fright and spill his coke all over himself.

"AAAHHH" screamed Gordon in fright as a mischievous laugh rang out from behind as he turned to see who it was. Much to his shock it was a grinning Thomas.

"Wake up lazybones why don't you do some hard work for a change" laugh Thomas as Howard came up to him.

"Alright Thomas lets get back to work" he said before noticing Gordon.

"What happened to you Gordon?" he asked.

Gordon was about to replay but decided to say that it was his own fault. Feeling satisfied Howard got into the cab with Thomas and they drove off, leaving Gordon to decide how to pay Thomas back.

The next day Thomas' engine would not start properly. Howard tried to build up a fire but it did not good.

"Come one please or else we'll be late for work" Thomas told his engine.

At last Howard was able to build up the fire and when they had enough steam they hurried off to fetch the coaches for the Wild Nor' Wester.

It was nearly time for the Wild Nor' Wester, the passengers came to the platform expecting to see their coaches but much to their surprise they weren't there and they began to worry that they would be late for work. Lucky Thomas soon came puffing in with the coaches, the relived passengers then began to board them as Gordon then back down on them.

"Hurry up" called Gordon impatiently.

"Hurry yourself" called back Thomas ignoring Gordon's impatience.

Howard got out of the cab so that he could uncouple Thomas' engine from the express. However before he could do so, Gordon pulled out of the station pulling both the coaches and Thomas with him.

"Wait Gordon come back I haven't uncoupled Thomas" shouted Howard as he ran to the end of the platform.

But Gordon didn't listen, he was too busy paying Thomas back for frightening him. Gordon had decided to start off before Thomas' engine could be uncoupled and pull as far as Wellsworth station and as fast as he could.

Gordon sped down the main, up the hill and across the viaduct as he leaned out of his cab and let the wind blow in his face.

Poor Thomas however, was feeling excited at lat. In fact he was feeling both exhausted and frighten at the same time.

"My poor engine will never feel the same again afterwards" he thought sadly to himself "her wheels will be quite worn out".

At last they pulled into Wellsworth station where Edward sitting on the platform. He waved to Gordon who puffed into the station, just then he noticed Thomas at the end of the train as he walked wearily out his cab and uncoupled his engine from Gordon's coaches before sitting down on a bench.

"Well young Thomas, now you know what hard work is" chuckled Gordon.

"Gordon why is Thomas coupled to your coaches?" asked Edward a little confused.

"Oh I thought that he would like to experience real hard work for a change" smirked Gordon.

Edward looked at him and then at Thomas before putting two and two together before looking at Gordon shocked.

"You mean to say that you started before he could be uncoupled and that you dragged him all the way here?" asked a shocked Edward.

But before Gordon could explain the passengers all boarded the coaches and the guard blew his whistle.

"Oh sorry dear Edward I'm afraid my answer will have to wait for a different time" said a smirking Gordon who hopped into his cab and drove off.

Edward down next to Thomas on the bench and asked him if he was alright. Thomas told him everything about what had being doing to Gordon.

"Well maybe in future Thomas you should try to avoid teasing people" said Edward to Thomas.

"That I'll do Edward" replied Thomas.

Edward then smiled at Thomas before he got up walked away whilst Thomas went to reverse his engine into a siding before going to get a drink, a sandwich and a bag of crisps from the station shop. After he finished he felt and a little better, he then received a text from his father.

"Hey Thomas on my way over to you at Wellsworth, Sir Topham Hatt was kind enough to given me a lift, see you in five minutes, Dad".

After reading his father's text Thomas went to sit back down on the bench to wait their arrival. Just he heard a familiar whistle, he looked and his eyes widened in surprise, coming down the line was a magenta GWR 106 tank engine with a brass dome and funnel that looked remarkably like gold and a dark purple roof and footplate. Thomas watched as tank engine stopped in the siding by the station and its driver a very beautiful girl the same age as him with long blonde hair and dress in magenta overalls hopped out of the cab, she saw Thomas standing by the station shop and smiled.

"Hey Thomas" she called to him.

"Lady" Thomas said jumping to his feet, surprised to see his childhood sweetheart "what are you doing here?".

"I was hired by Sir Topham Hatt" said Lady "he needed someone to run the Kirk Ronan Branch line and when he saw my application he interviewed me and gave me the job just yesterday".

Thomas was excited by the news. Just then a blue Lagonda V12 drove up to them and Howard and Sir Topham Hatt both stepped out, Howard then ran up to Thomas and gave him a hug.

"There you are Thomas I was so worried" said a concerned Howard "I'm sorry I didn't uncouple you in time".

"It's okay dad" Thomas assured his father "and anyway Gordon did it as payback".

"Payback for what?" asked Sir Topham Hatt.

Thomas then explained everything that had happened including his teasing.

"Well I would normally think that it would serve you right young Thomas" said Sir Topham Hatt sternly before signing "however Gordon shouldn't have done what he did, which is why tomorrow he's going to be pulling a goods train".

Then Sir Topham Hatt noticed Lady standing there.

"Ah Miss Stone I see you have arrived" Sir Topham Hatt greeted Lady and shaking her hand.

"That I have Sir Topham Hatt and eager to start work" replied Lady politely.

"That is what please to hear" said Sir Topham Hatt pleased that he had found yet another eager employee "tomorrow I would like you to meet me in my office to discuss what work you'll be doing on the Kirk Ronan Branch line".

"I will there on time" Lady replied.

After that Thomas and Howard both went back to Thomas' engine and set off back to Tidmouth with Lady trailing behind whilst Sir Topham Hatt got back into his car and drove back to Knapford.

(Story Ends)

"After that I was very careful never to be cheeky to Uncle Gordon again" Thomas said finishing his story.

He then noticed that Lucy had fallen fast asleep. Smiling Thomas then gently kissed his daughter tonight before walking to his room. He then turned to see his father coming up the stairs with a glass of water.

"Hello Thomas just got Lucy to go to sleep?" Howard asked.

"That I did dad" replied Thomas to his father.

"How are you feeling anyway" asked Howard with some concern on his voice.

Thomas then turned solemn knowing full well what his father meant. About two months ago Lucy's mother and her engine were hijacked by three masked people along with another man named Peter Tiberius Boomer who desired revenge on her guardian Burnett Stone. Thomas, Howard, Gordon, Sir Topham Hatt and Burnett had given chase, but the four hijackers made her engine go too fast and they made her engine plunge off the Big Dipper viaduct into the river. Boomer and the three masked hijackers had jumped clear before it happened and got away, but Lucy's mother was tragically not so fortunate. The Sodor Police managed to rescue the engine, but Lucy's mother wasn't found much to Thomas' devastation, the police had divers scour the Hawin Croka and dogs search the riverbanks but to now such luck. Shortly afterwards Burnett took the engine away promising to both repair and give it to Lucy when she was old enough.

"Still a bit devastated after what happened" replied Thomas with slight emotion on his voice.

Howard then gave his son a comforting hug.

"I know, I know" said Howard soothingly "but just you remember that me, your mother and Annie and Clarabel are always there for and Lucy no matter what".

Thomas then smiled at his father's words.

"Thanks for that dad" Thomas replied "now let us both get some sleep we both have a busy day tomorrow.

Thomas and his father then both said goodnight to each before going into their separate bedrooms. Thomas then changed into his pyjamas before climbing into bed and pulling the duvet over him, he then looked over to see a framed picture of him cuddly a beautiful blonde pregnant woman on his bedside table. Thomas picked the photo and looked longingly at it.

"Oh Lady you have no idea how much me and Lucy miss you" said Thomas sadly.

Thomas then kissed the photo before putting it back on his bedside table before turning off his light and drifting off to sleep.

And done, a full two days to write and I must say that I'm quite to how it turned out. Just to let you know that Howard was actually created by Tankengine389, but he was gracious to let me use him and Tanya. Some things to let you know is that seasons 1,2 and most of season 3 will be stories that Thomas tells Lucy, Thomas is also going to be more mature and responsible since he is a father. Just to let you know is that the GWR 106 is a fictional locomotive class, it's also what I decided what Lady's class will be.
