Summary: The war ended in Kaguya's victory. Naruto and Kasumi were left in a void of darkness to await their future, be it paradise or hell. At least that was going to be their plan. At least until A Goddess named Eris came and gave him another chance to live a normal life. The only catch... Beat the Devil King and stop the Black Dog Mercenary Company.
I'm back with the next part of this story. I hope you guys are ready. I used two or three tropes in this chapter. But I hope you guys enjoy it.

Chapter 3: The lonely mage and the cunning thief!
Location: Axel
Place: Outskirts of Axel
Time: 0800 (A month Later)
The sun had been up for a little longer than half an hour, but the two people who stood across from each other had been up just a little longer than that. Naruto and Kasumi stood across from each other, only they were not wearing their 'adventuring clothes', but rather sporty clothes. Naruto wore an orange shirt and a loose white muscle shirt, and running shoes called Zippy's . What a crazy concept shoes designed strictly for running. Kasumi had barrowed some of Luna's relaxing clothes since they qualified as sportswear. A pair of purple yoga pants and a loose-fitting shirt. Instead of shoes she chose to go barefoot, and her tails were hidden from view. An ability she had figured out not that long ago shapeshifting.
The duo had spent the last 20 or so minutes warming up as they prepared for this.
"Rules?" asked Kasumi.
"No weapons, Taijutsu and upwards of C-ranked Jutsu," said Naruto.
"Easy enough," said Kasumi before rushing at Naruto.
Kasumi was in Naruto's guard and went for a spinning upward thrust kick aimed at Naruto's chin. Naruto managed to move out of the way. When he noticed blue wisps of fire. Crap she was getting way too good at silently adding fire to her attacks at the last second. Well two could play that game, putting his hand in a knife edge Naruto slashed at Kasumi who managed to stop herself in a handspring stand and bend her spin nearly in half in a handstand. With a smirk on her face, she opened her mouth and unleashed three balls of fire at Naruto.
Naruto cursed as he used substitution to get out of the way and some distance from Kasumi.
Once away Naruto had managed to get a handful of leaves. He used his chakra to make them stiff, sharpened the edges, and added wind chakra to them before he threw them like kunai. He still did'nt have a name for the move. He was thinking Konoha-style Leaf Kunai or something like that, but he was in the middle of a fight and needed to focus on Kasumi.
Kasumi took a horse stance. "Iron Release: Iron Body!"
The Leaf Kunai impacted her body but bounced off. Naruto took this chance and focused on using his arms as two chains appeared. One per arms with blade-like weapons at the end. Throwing one of them at Kasumi she caught it with her hands and pulled Naruto toward her as she opened her hand with a spiraling blue flame in her left hand.
"Burn Naruto! Kitsune Bi: Fire Spin!" yelled Kasumi as she thrusts her hand forward.
Naruto gathered wind around his body just as the flames engulfed him.
"Wind Release: Cyclone burst!" yelled Naruto throwing his hands outwards.
As the winds spread in all directions Naruto was freed from the flames and jumped into the air and brought his arm down in a From Kata Hammer Smash. Kasumi jumped backwards and opened her mouth gathering up chakra.
"Kitsune Bi: Howl!" yelled Kasumi.
The flames that came out of her mouth came out in waves of destruction that Naruto wanted to call Bullshit on it being a C-ranked Jutsu, but in terms of skill and power, it was labeled as a C-ranked attack. Naruto weaved his chains together around his body creating a shield fending the flames off. Once the flames died down. Naruto jumped into the air and used his charka to form an invisible platform under his feet. Raising his hands Naruto began to make hand signs.
"Poison Release: Acid Rain," said Naruto.
Naruto opened his breath and unleashed a purple cloud from his mouth one it had spread enough it began to unleash toxic ran. Kasumi not wanting to stick in the immediate vacancy resorted to an old Fox favorite and dun a hole to escape. Only that was what Naruto wanted. Releasing his hold on the platform he fell to the ground where he felt Kasumi's chakra as she burst from the ground with a flaming sword Naruto spun out the way of the blade and wrapped one chain around her body and another chain around her neck, before slamming her into the ground. Shifting his right chain to his left arm he summoned a sword of wind- more like wind encased in a VERY thin layer of glass and pointed it at Kasumi's neck.
"I win Kasumi-chan," said Naruto with a smirk.
Kasumi frowned at her lover before she effortlessly broke the chain. "I still say that we need to class those chains of yours as at least a B-rank Support. Not only can you use them as weapons, but as armor and you can make them appear as tattoos to enhance your strength by double. That's a broke-ass hack. Almost as bad as that damn thief eye," said Kasumi as she dusted herself off and allowed her tails out as well as a pair of fox ears.
Naruto smiled at her. "My ability is nowhere near as broken as the Sharingan was," said the red-haired young man before he pulled her into a light kiss.
Over the last month, they had discovered a lot about themselves, the new world they were in, and their abilities. One of them is just how strong they were. They had taken on a Slime killing quest which was to say pest control as they were eating a farmer's fields and found that slimes Despite being listed as an F-class monster were a lot more dangerous if left unchecked and a Devil slime was the worst sort of monster you could come across, luckily it took at least 5 years of an unchecked slime to get to that point, and slimes by their nature tended to travel to human settlements. The only reason Naruto and Kasumi had an issue was that there had been a Dog Slime among the lesser Slime monsters. Those were classed as a C-rank threat. But after melting Kasumi's clothes she just incinerated it with extreme prejudice as she liked that sundress.
Aside from that Naruto and Kasumi spent a lot of time with Luna during her breaks and at the house that she was allowing them to stay at for the low low price of threesome sex four times a week and random one-v-one sessions with Naruto or Kasumi at her choosing. Not all their time was spent having hardcore sex. Cuddles, learning about each other and the like was part of what they did. Luna also took the time to explain how E$ worked, the economy, and monsters. In the mornings they would train, in the Afternoon they would take missions, and learn in the evenings. It was also during these times that Naruto and Kasumi began to figure out the limits of their bodies.
That wasn't to say that they hadn't pursued individual interests and skills. Naruto had put his shadow clones to work across the city taking up odd jobs and collecting not just, Eris but local gossip and information that he decided to use on locals with a lot of influence. He had also started working on recreating the Icha Icha series as well as turning his life into a series of books. The Maelstrom chronicles. He released Vol 1 of Icha Icha under the Pen name Jiraya and the Maelstrom Chronicled under the Pen Name Kushina. Both books were massive hits Icha Icha for men and the more perverted women and Maelstrom Chronicles with Women and more sensitive men. He used the majority of his first week's sales to buy some land in the eastern part of the town. It was big enough for a small compound and training ground. He had already laid the foundation but was having trouble with some suppliers. That had delayed construction by at least a month.
Kasumi had of all things taken up dance and was fairly good at it. She also told Naruto she wanted a garden for raising herbs, spices, and potion ingredients as she had found a passion for learning alchemy. A skill that wasn't available in their world.
All in all it had been a productive month.
"Come on lets go home. I'm pretty sure that Luna is finished cooking breakfast by now," said Naruto smiling at the thought of home.
That was also another thing that changed. Their relationship to Luna. Naruto and Kasumi who had been together since Naruto had been in Kushina's womb had an understanding, respect, and love for each other that transcended the need for them to put any labels on what they were other than partners since that one word encompassed everything they were. Luna was another story for the duo. They didn't love her so much as had a growing affection that streamed from one very steamy night that was slowly turning romantic. Although considering, Naruto and Haku had been emotionally in love even if they had only known each other for a week was saying something. But back to Luna. Luna who once only seemed concerned with being the best or getting promoted to Full-time Guild Master, Still had her ambition, but at least when she spoke with her lovers, she did so with an air that didn't say that she was trying to seduce them or scam them to get her way. She still used seduction to get her way with the many men of the guild who thought that she would just roll over, but she only ever used it to make them more agreeable and if they pushed to hard... well Naruto and Kasumi had not been adverse to teaching their lover a few tricks of the shinobi trade like a hidden blade up her sleeve that she was SCARY good with after only a few days of practice.
Kasumi pulled away from Naruto and pulled him towards their home... well they'd had to get the bigger home finished before to long. Luna's one bedroom home wouldn't hold all the things that Naruto wanted to do.

In the corner of the Adventurers Guild, a person was playing chess. Yes people, person. As in one. Many people ignored her presence, and anyone who did acknowledge her quickly forgot that she was there if so much as a bottle was placed in front of her. She had seen several adventuring parties advertising for a mage, but she was to shy to ask them to partner up on a trial basis. She had come all the way to Axel chasing her -self-proclaimed- rival/childhood friend as she wanted to be an adventurer just like her... only not as delusional.
If anyone was able to see her for more than a minute or gather the courage/common sense to realize that she was lonely, they would realize that the young woman was a member of the Crimson Demon Clan. Arguably the strongest mages in the world. At 17 she was beautiful. Not exotic or classical. More of a mix between plain and Exquisite as Crimson Demons were few and far between outside of their village. The young woman wasn't tall but she wasn't short either standing at 5'4" with a shapely figure with wide hips and large C-cup breasts as her most prominent figures had crimson-colored eyes that seemed to have a determined and quiet look to them, and black hair that reached her shoulder blades tied in two twin-tails with red ribbons wearing a black low-cut blouse that with the top button done up at the collar and a 'boob window' a pink tie that hung between her breasts, and an ultra-short, pink miniskirt as well as a pair of dark toned pink stockings and brown boots, a brown slanted belt that had a 10-inch dagger and a silver wand with an amethyst crystal as a focus.
This was Yunyun Heiress and Outcast to the Crimson Demon Clan. She looked up from her game to where her rival, her Rival's lover- if their arguing was anything to go off of- and Her Rival's Lover Lover- she was so jealous- were hanging out and drinking after an adventure. She wanted to go on adventures, but... Biting her lip she tried not to let tears come out from her eyes. She wasn't a crybaby anymore! She was an adult and adults didn't cry. Adults didn't get lonely, Adults... adults...
Tears fell from her eyes and landed on the table before she quickly wiped them away.
Maybe it was time to give up and return to the clan. Ask the Clan Oracle where her path lay before her.
The Knight was picked up and the Queen was taken. "Check," said a voice.
Yunyun nearly fell backward when the voice said that. She looked up and saw a handsome boy... man. A Handsome man her age and a beautiful girl... woman sitting at her table. Oh Goddess she was blushing. She knew she was, but she couldn't look away from him.
"Huh!?" asked the girl.
"You looked a little lonely, so my partner and I decided to come and join you," said Kasumi.
Yunyun coughed in her hand. "I'm not lonely. I have tons of friends. Why just the other day my friend Dust recommended that I wear these clothes," said Yunyun pointing to her clothes. even if they were totally embarrassing for her.
The nine-tailed girl and young man looked at her. "Unhuh. Well, if that's the case then Naru-kun and I can keep looking for a mage," said the woman.
Yunyun's eyes widened. "No No nope! you have to stay here pretty please, with sugar on top! I mean. What could I do for you both?" asked Yunyun trying to keep the only two people who had spoken to her in WEEKS right there.
"Before we talk business introductions are necessary. "I'm Uzumaki Naruto. I'm an Assassin and I guess Party Leader," said Naruto with a smile.
"I'm Otsuki Kasumi. A Monk or at least that's what my card says," said Kasumi with a smirk.
"Right. I'm Yunyun. My Class is Mage, although I plan to re-class to Arch Magician once I learn the skills I want," said Yunyun with a smile.
"Now that introductions are over how about you join us on a quest," said Naruto.
"What type of Quest?" asked Yunyun.
"A new dungeon was found about a day's walk southeast of Axel, but no one has been able to make it past the fifth floor. It's assumed that it's a high-ranked mini-boss and I for one would love the challenge of a good fight," said Naruto.
"How are the profits going to be split Mr Naruto?" asked Yunyun.
"Equal shares all around, same for loot. Monster drops will be yours if you delt the finishing blow," said Naruto.
"Alright Mr Naruto, Miss Kasumi, you have yourself a deal," said Yunyun.
"Then welcome to Team Seven," said Naruto.
Yunyun wanted to cry tears of happiness. Team Seven. It sounded... It sounded like hope to her.
"This sounds interesting got enough room in your party for one more?" came a voice that Naruto and Kasumi knew all to well.
They barely turned when they saw the woman who stood before them. The woman was at least in her early 20's and not much taller than Yunyun with A-cup breasts, but to make up for that shortcoming her legs and ass seemed to be fairly long and large, a light complexion to her skin tone, and purple eyes. short silver hair that stopped just shy of going past her neck, two strands of hair framing her face with a piece of hair pointing out from her fringe. A scar was visible on her right cheek Her outfit consisted of a light blue scarf, a short green cape that goes down to her elbows, a pair of black elbow gloves with normal brown gloves layered over them, short blue jean shorts, white knee-high socks with a blue trimming, brown boots, and a bikini-like dark gray top with a single strap on her left shoulder keeping it in place,diamond-shaped blue earrings and a dagger was strapped to her hip.
"Nice to meet you all. I'm Kris, a Thief and if I must say so a highly skilled one at that. I specialize in recon," said Kris.
Kasumi frowned. "Why is the Goddess here of all places?" she thought to herself.
She wanted to glance at Naruto and peer into his mind, but he had blocked her out of it. While Naruto and Kasumi could block each other out, they had only done it once and it had been deeply uncomfortable for both of them. For Naruto to willingly block her out was something she didn't expect. What was her lover hiding from her.
"So Kris what makes you want to join us?" asked Naruto keeping his face straight.
Kris put her hands on the back of her head and grinned. "I haven't had a reason not to do anything recently and all the quests here are dried up. Taking a trip into a dungeon is just what this old girl needs," said Kris.
Naruto nodded. "Alright, we'll go and use the dungeon as a trail run to see if this team thing can shake up well. Met at the South gate in two hours. Pack for a three day trip, including water and rations, weapons if you can carry them. I'll go file the quest and new party as a temp party with Luna and a projected return time. Kasumi go home and gather our bags, please. Oh, your signatures please can't start a party without everyone consistent," said Naruto as he placed the paperwork on the table. Everyone quickly signed it.
"Yes Mr Naruto," said Yunyun.
"Of course, Naruto," said Kasumi.
Kris grinned and gave the OK sign with her fingers. "You got it, Boss. Come with me Kid and we'll get everything we need, maybe we can find something cool in the markets before we go.
Kris grabbed Yunyun's hand. "Miss Kris! Please don't pull so hard on my arm!"
Once they were out of the guild Kasumi turned to Naruto with a hurt look. The blond's face was cold, but not unkind. He hugged her as he opened their link back up and Kasumi felt how sorry he was, how much he loved her and would never intentionally hurt her.
"Sorry about that Kasumi-chan. But I couldn't risk that she had an alternate motive for joining us and with her abilities I couldn't tell how powerful she was here or if she could jump into our link," said Naruto.
"She said her abilities were diminished, but how much of that do we believe?" asked Kasumi.
"Not sure. I'm sure that in certain events she can use her full power, but I'm not willing to test a god who gave us our bodies," said Naruto.
Despite how strong Naruto and Kasumi were they still were not sure how strong the Gods and goddesses of this world were if they were to unleash their full power. Once during some solo afternoon training, Naruto had entered Sage Mode and discovered that there were a few beings that could give Madara a run for his money in terms of power and he was talking post-Sage Madara. The Madara that Naruto had tied with before the whole Kaguya thing appeared.
Kasumi grabbed his hand and squeezed it. She had read the worry in his mind and reassured him that everything was okay.
"Go and get everything sorted with Luna love. I'll go and get our things from the house," said Kasumi kissing Naruto on the cheek.

The group met at the South Gate just as the two-hour deadline hit. With nary a word they headed of in the direction of the dungeon. But Naruto wasn't so dense to allow them to head out as one big group instead Naruto and Yunyun went forward first as a scouting pair with Kasumi and Kris staying a good 50 meters back. It was one of the few things that Kakashi told Naruto and Sakura about during his days as an ANBU. Since ANBU worked in groups of five with a Captain the pairs would often be at least 200 meters apart with the captain in the center it was an effective strategy, but with only four people the distance had to be lowered and with Kris and Yunyun basically being support roles it made more sense to keep one of the two primary fighters with them at all times.
As they did this the two pairs got to know each other. Yunyun was a nervous stuttering wreak. But Naruto could honestly say that she reminded him a bit of himself during his academy days. She was the child of the Crimson Demon Chief and was considered a social outcast by the rest of the clan, mostly because she had a higher intelligence then the others or to them 'she was an odd duck' because she didn't have some crazy backstory about her abilities and the like as many of her people did. She was one of two prodigies that graduated the magic academy early.
"So, what you some kind of prodigy or something?" asked Naruto licking his teeth.
Yunyun sighed. "I wouldn't say prodigy. I'm fairly decent with my magical control compared to others who either like one super spell or stick to stronger versions of the same spell. My rival. The one who I told you about is like that.
"Yes you told me her name was magum right?" asked Naruto.
The dark-haired girl gave a small laugh. Her name is Megumin and be careful. As much as I think her Explosion magic is she's easily one of the most powerful Crimson Demons of my class, but because she never put any of her skill points into Mana management, control, reduction or learning other spells she is a one-shot canon," said Yunyun.
"Hey anyway you were telling me that you graduated about 3 years ago from Magic Academy," said Naruto.
"Yes. We Crimson Demons go to school from the age of 10 to 17 to learn how to speak, help the greater Crimson Demon Clan as a whole, and so on and so forth. Megumin and I graduated at 13. She took an apprenticeship, while I was busy learning the laws both internal and external when it came to our people and our position in the kingdom. As the next Chief of the clan my father was amendment that I remain in the village to better help our people and marry his hand picked suitor," said Yunyun with a frown.
Naruto frowned as well. While not common in the Elemental Nations it wasn't unheard of for parents to pick their children's brides before they were even born. From what Shikamaru told him his mom and dad were third cousins and chosen to marry because they had the highest compatibility rating in the clan.
"So how did you escape and manage to come to Axel? Asked Naruto.
The dark-haired girl sighed. "I'm not proud to admit it, but i had to do a little play-acting. You see since everyone in my village knows something or has a ridiculous-sounding quirk or back story I chose to... embrace my inner crimson Demon. I told my father, mother, and Council that... Wait I have to do this right," said Yunyun as she sat down her bag and kneeled on the ground.
Naruto stopped as well and looked at her mildly amused. She placed her hand in front of her and looked up with determined eyes. Eyes that she didn't seem to suit the kind and awkward girl that Naruto had been getting to know for the last two hours.
"Mother, father for the past several days... I've been having dreams... Dreams that tell me that my life is not here among my people. At least not for a time. My dreams tell me that the man who is my other half is out there waiting for me. In my dreams, I see a figure bathed in the divinity of Gold energy a long hoari, and red hair. Surrounding himself in chains and 8 black orbs. He stands before the Demon King with his companions by his side. I am among those companions as we strive to save the world," said Yunyun.
Naruto's eyes widened. She just described his True Sage form. A form he hadn't accessed in some time, but that was him nonetheless. Could Yunyun see into the future?
And then she giggled. "Of course, it was all horse raddish, but they ate it up and gave me a free pass until the day I met my soulmate, and we vanquished the Devil King. It would be weird if I ran into a person like that.
Naruto gave an awkward chuckle. Yeah weird," said Naruto.
Further back the mood was less light heated and more tense. Kris and Kasumi kept at least 10 feet apart.
"SO do you want to talk about what you're doing here... Eris?" asked Kasumi.
Kris or Eris smiled. "Please keep to calling me Kris, much easier and I don't feel like being praised every time I walk among my people. I use to do it often back before the laws were fully established.
"I don't get you gods. You have all this power to do what you want, but you seem to enjoy toying with peoples lives. I admit that I've killed people for messing up my fur, but you are just here to look at your playthings," said Kasumi.
"Not true. While I can come down here it's only in this limited form for a limited time. At most, I'll be here a total of two weeks before I have to stash my treasure and leave to return to my duties. I was supposed to met my friend Lalatina but she was delayed by a few days and won't arrive in Axel for a bit. I figured that I could join you guys and kill some time before I met her again," said Kris.
Kasumi nodded all the while allowing Naruto to 'hear' and 'see' what she was hearing and seeing.
"Fine, I'll buy that for now," said Kasumi as she closed the link on her side before walking closer to Kris and throwing her arm around her in a buddy buddy kind of way.
"Um Kasumi-chan?" asked Kris in worry.
"Shut up and listen to me, little Goddess. That boy... my Naruto-kun has been through hell almost since before he was even born! He's faced death, betrayal, loneliness and heartbreak. Through all of that he never lost his smile. He may be a bit of an idiot and goofball, but his heart is always in the right place. This new world has given him a second chance and I want him to make the best of it. I want him to make friends, and find hobbies not related to his profession. I want him to live and enjoy life instead of chasing death all Shinobi and Kunoichi do. I want him to grow old and die in his bed surrounded by kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. So keep this in mind, little Goddess, you do anything to put Naru-kun's life or happiness in danger, no mortal, god, or plane of existence will keep me from getting to you and ripping you apart," growled Kasumi her eyes flashing dangerously and her teeth sharpening, showing part of her true Kitsune form.
Kris shook her head frantically up and down as she heard the Kitsune before her. Eris wasn't stupid. As well as she could fight, she wasn't a fighter by any means. It was why she was a thief and a rouge. She could get in and out without lifting a finger. going one-v-one with the equivalent of a Demon General if she was reading Kasumi's Aura right was suicide, even for a goddess.
Kasumi smiled and patted E-Kris on the shoulder. Glad you and I could have this understanding... Oh and I hope you can sleep, because I plan on keeping Naruto-kun up for a few hours tonight training in our tent," said Kasumi.
Kris blushed and realized that Kasumi was going to be quite loud with her lover tonight.
Sometimes it sucked to be the goddess of luck.
