The Winds of Change

"Why didn't you finish them off, Bodyguard?!" The chess piece yelled at him, jumping up and down on the prolonged snout of the dog warrior, "If they were finished now, those Digimon would be reborn and possibly find new 'partners.' However, in the state I have placed them in now, the chances of a counterattack are extremely slim, and you can focus only on finding and awakening the portals, master." "Huh, that makes perfect sense. Gundramon! Blast those villages to pieces, I want to see fear on those faces." "Right away sir!" The Digimon cackled and began firing.

The day became worse when it was announced that to prevent uprisings that were occurring in America, more restrictions were being placed on their class, and people thought that this would lead to things going back to normal, but they had no idea. Over the next three weeks the weather was very soggy, which trapped the group inside during the day and they felt that they were being watched by everything and everyone. Natalie's mother was demonstrating how little she cared about her own daughter by happily allowing Carol, her slightly older sister to take items that belonged to Natalie by claiming that her class "never deserved them". Darren's brother Reggie, having been so frustrated and enraged at what his family was going through, he decided to leave and joined a growing protest group, led by a man with a very large criminal background, as for everyone else, they felt that they wanted to breath and just to feel happy, but they now believed it was not meant to be.

The day was awakened by an enormous thunderstorm bellowing around them and as they entered soaked and miserable, they had noticed a large amount of police cars at the front of the school, they looked around at each other, all nervous at what was going to happen to them, when suddenly they heard a knock at the door and a large voice spoke, "Can Darren Bradston, please exit the building, I repeat, can Darren Bradston, please exit the building?" They all looked at Darren, whose eyes were wide open, and his body was beginning to tremble, "Has he come out yet?" "Not yet, should I send back-up?" "It would be the best; their actions will determine what their punishment will be." Everyone looked at each other and knew that despite the storm outside and that in comparison of everything logical they had been told to do, that the best thing to do was merely to run.

They grabbed their bags and waited for the officer to be contacted on his walkie talkie as they knew it would be a reasonable distraction for them to escape via the fire exit, they had started to leave when, "Stop right there! You are all under arrest for assisting a criminal!" They ran and didn't look back, the storm and rain were bellowing around them, lighting struck the trees causing branches to crash onto the round and as the police officers were less than an inch from grabbing Catherine, they successfully entered the portal which immediately disintegrated preventing anyone from entering and escaping.

They collapsed into a heap in a large desert away from civilisation and they did not move for ten minutes and when they did, they merely looked around in both shock and in a daze. All around them as nothing but sand and some rubble that could be pretending to be a village was close to them, some of them namely Darren, Natalie and Mikey started to burst into tears in despair as Steven stood up and started to walk towards a village that was extremely far in the distance, and they followed him.
