Courtney walked up the hallway leading to her apartment. She saw a figure standing by her door.
The person heard the footsteps and faced her. She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw who standing there.
No way it was him. She wasn't ready to deal with him yet
"Abraham?"
"Hey, honey." He smiled his eyes scanning up and down her form.
Courtney just sighed, great.
She opened the door and went inside. "what are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming back till later."
"Well, I came back early cause I know you're mad at me, and I knew as a husband I needed to talk to you and fix things. Especially since you aren't answering your phone calls." He said following her in closing the door.
As a husband? What an asshole.
She sighed and turned to him folding his arms "I just don't want to talk to you. You keep lying and hiding things from me"
"I know what it looks like. But we are not together. She just came. I can get Avery James to tell you." Abraham said sitting on the couch.
"So what if I told you someone told me you two were together?" Courtney asked.
"I would tell you they're lying. Trust me. I changed and everything for us to be together, I tend to keep it that way." He said gesturing for her to sit by him.
Courtney however ignored his offer "what if I told you that I had pictures."
"I would say they're photoshopped or something. Do you have pictures?" He asked. Courtney saw his demeanor change up slightly.
Courtney pursed her lips. There was no point. She was going to wait until she got to the house.
"I don't."she said simply.
He just smiled and stood up "told you, babe. Nothing is going on."
He came up to her and hugged her. All she felt at that moment was anger and resentment.
"Are we good babe?" He asked pulling away.
Courtney just nodded.
"Alright. Do you wanna go out? Maybe we can-" Abraham attempted.
"Sorry. I uh... actually made plans to hang out with Heather and Bridgette. I was actually going to get ready to go. I was going to stay over the night" Courtney said fake apologetically.
"Oh. Well, it's okay I'll just invite the boys over." He shrugged slightly disappointed.
"Sounds good," Courtney replied ignoring the tone in his voice, and continued walking to the bedroom to get dressed.
As she got dressed she tried to figure out a way to not come home or be gone as long as possible. She couldn't rely on Bridgette and Heather forever. They had their own lives. Tonight they already had plans. So now she has figure out something.
But then again till she got a place she had to act like she was okay otherwise he would know and would be relentless with trying to change her mind and would be petty.
However, she still didn't want to be bothered with him.
After getting dressed she walked out grabbing her purse.
"Bye sugar, I love you." He said leaning in to kiss her.
Courtney saw him coming onto her mind on overdrive. She felt sick at the thought of kissing him. She imagined places his mouth was on Victoria then being out on her lips.
She grabbed his face and kissed his cheek and forehead "see you later."
Before turning around and bolting out the door leaving a slightly confused and suspicious Abraham behind.

After going to Heather and Bridgette's house it's was only 3 pm. She sat in her car frustrated. She couldn't get a hotel. Their accounts were conjoined so he would see. Then if she took out the money at an atm that was nowhere near Bridgette or Heathers house it would be super suspicious.
She would go to her parents but she didn't want to deal with her mom.
She had nowhere else to go but back home.
She sighed as she started the car and went to the apartments.
Walking to her door she already heard the hoots and hollers of her husband's friends.
She did not want to be bothered.
She stood there with her arms folded thinking if there was anywhere else she could go.
Unfortunately, she thought of nothing and reached for the doorknob. Her hand hovering over it, she just didn't want to deal with it.
She put down her arm and sighed and leaned against the wall next to the door.
Unluckily for her Duncan stepped out of his apartment.
"Oh hey princess," Duncan smirked.
Before she could reply a loud round of yelling came inside the apartment.
"Husbands home?" Duncan said with a shit-eating grin on his face.
Courtney scoffed "why do you care?"
"The same reason your standing outside not going in." He said knowingly.
Courtney pursed her lips in annoyance "you don't know anything, for all you know I'm getting a break from his friends."
"I would believe that. But you have your purse and keys." Duncan replied amused.
Fuck. He got me.
"I don't wanna be home right now. It's none of your business." she snapped.
"It's not. But I was going to go down to work. I need to do a quick shift. So if you wanna sit there until you figure something out..." Duncan shrugged.
Courtney squinted her eyes at him suspiciously "you are really letting me sit in your apartment? Unattended, while you are gone?"
"Yeah I'm not gonna be here your free to anything, just feed scruffy some chicken and I'll be back soon." Duncan shrugged.
"Scruffy? You have another cat?"
"No, he's a-" Duncan started but was interrupted by his phone.
He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and answered it "hello?"
She heard faint yelling from his phone and Duncan's cocky grin went to an irritated frown "I'll be there in a second."
Hanging up the phone he headed towards his door and opened it. "he's in my room, feed him some of the shredded chicken on the counter at 5, I have to go" he said swiftly before heading down the hallways.
Courtney watched him enter the elevator before turning to enter the apartment.
Courtney sat on his couch for nearly 2 hours. She watched a cooking show, pretty little liars, the good doctor. However, her mind was on overdrive. She was thinking about what went down in this very apartment the last time she was here. She was also thinking about how she was gonna make things more livable between her and Abraham.
Her phone went off catching her attention.
Looking down at her phone she saw Bridgette text the group chat.
Bridge: did you make it home?
Heather: yeah and how are things with the asshole
Courtney: I did. But I'm not in my apartment. I'm in Duncans.
Bridgette: what- are you guys fucking?
Heather: bridge you owe me 50
Courtney: You guys were betting on me?!? And no he's at work. He let me sit here.
Heather: damn it!
Bridgette: ha!
Bridgette: and that's nice of him, does he know why?
Heather: he likes her so he's gonna try to snatch Courtney from the ass she's stuck with.
Courtney: no he doesn't know. He just knows I don't want to be with him and he's known for some time now.
Bridgette: so he just let you be in his apartment alone?
Heather: does he have good food?
That's when Courtney remember she had to give some food to scruffy. She was supposed to do it 30 minutes ago.
Courtney: shit I was supposed to feed his pet.
Heather: Huh?
Bridgette: what pet?
Courtney put her phone down and went to the kitchen and looked around. She opened the fridge to see a Tupperware with shredded chicken. She also saw a sticky note with scruffy's name on it.
Picking it up she headed towards Duncan's room.
She looked and saw on his dresser. Seeing a tank with a rock and a small little water and with sticks.
Thinking that it's a lizard she looked and didn't see anything.
Shrugging she opened the habitat along with the Tupperware.
She reached to grab the chicken when her phone started ringing.
Sighing she went to go see who it was calling and saw it was her mother.
Pushing the red decline button she heard something fall on the floor in Duncan's room.
Walking back in there she saw the chicken was knocked off the dresser onto the floor.
"What the..." she trailed off looking around the room.
She looked in the habitat and didn't see anything. Thinking she put it too far on the edge of the dresser she saw a big black hairy spider by her foot.
Letting out an ear-splitting shriek and jumped back.
Much to her horror, the spider began chasing her.
she ran out of the room and jumped on the couch.
The spider stood by the couch not even blinking. It's dark beady eyes staring at her not moving.
Courtney felt the fear grow stronger as it just stood there. She wanted to run and was too scared to move.
Suddenly the spider jumped and landed on her sock-covered foot. She let out an ear-shattering scream and flicked her foot making the spider fly off her foot and ran into Duncan's room and shutting the door.
She looked at her phone and called the group chat in fear.
After three rings Heather joined along with Bridgette.
"His spider got out and it's trying to kill me. It chased me around his apartment!" Courtney screamed panicked.
"Wait what the hell? He has a pet spider? And you went to feed it?" Heather asked disbelievingly.
"And how the heck did it get out?" Bridgette asked.
"I left it open cause my phone started ringing. Duncan didn't tell me it was a fucking spider I thought it was a lizard!"
"He didn't tell you what pet it was?" Heather asked disbelievingly.
"No he was in a rush and-" Courtney rushed out.
Bridgette tried to calm her down when she heard hissing. Courtney turned around and saw the spider in the room.

Abraham and his friends were intensely watching the tv as the soccer player swiftly dodged another player while keeping the ball.
"He's gonna make the shot guys!" Abrahams friends dalton said excitedly.
Just as the guy put his foot back to kick a long-distance goal their intense game watching was interrupted by a loud scream.
The guys jumped looking at the wall the screaming was coming from.
"GOALLLLLLLL" the guy on the tv yelled. The guys looked at the tv to see they missed the shot.
"What the fuck!" One of Abraham's friends said frustratedly.
"We missed the shot!" Dalton said slamming his beer on the table.
"Who the hell is that?" Another one of his friends turned towards Abraham peeved that he didn't get to see the shot.
Abrahams anger increased when he heard the screaming again "my stupid neighbor"
The scream sounded familiar but he couldn't place his finger on it. He was too pissed to think at the moment.
They continued to watch but after five seconds of the person screaming Abraham stood up outraged and stormed to his neighbor's door.
He banged on the door.
Courtney from the inside froze. She was currently standing on the bathroom sink with her phone in her hand running from Duncan's spider.
"Hey! I know your in there!" She heard her husband yell.
She panicked hoping he didn't know it was her.
"Get your ass out here!" He banged on the door harder than the last.
She saw the spider walk into the bathroom and the fear quadrupled.
"What the hell whats going on?" She heard a voice in the hall.
"Someone in there is fucking loud and we're trying to watch the game!" Abraham snapped.
Courtney sighed slightly relaxing that he doesn't know she was in Duncan's apartment. However the spider was crawling up the sink. She looked and there was no escape.
Panic filled her as the spider came closer and closer. She grabbed a shaving cream can and held it up ready to throw it when the bathroom door opened.
"Hey whoa whoa! Calm down!" Duncan exclaimed, grabbing scruffy out the way just as Courtney was throwing the can.
Courtney was relieved that he was back but she was infuriated " you demon spider chased me around the apartment!"
Duncan furrowed his eyebrows "he chased you around the apartment?"
"Yes!" she snapped, hanging up the phone.
Duncan looked at scruffy and smiled "did you feed him? And how the hell did he get out." He asked.
"I was trying to but he got out. And I didn't know it was going to get out I left it for like 5 seconds to grab-"
He just chuckled "you can get down from the counter."
Courtney frowned.
"Put him away first." She demanded.
Duncan rolled his eyes exaggeratedly before walking out of the room and walking to where she assumed to be his room to put him away.
She waited a moment and soon enough she heard him call out that he was put away.
Courtney fully relaxed and got down.
Walking out the bathroom she saw Duncan smirking. "you didn't feed him on time did you?"
Courtney folded her arms "I was a little late I got distracted, but that doesn't mean for that crazy-ass spider to chase me."
"Don't worry you guys just got off on the wrong foot. You'll talk again."
Courtney rolled her eyes. Yeah right.
"But I heard Abe outside what did you tell him?" Courtney asked remembering him banging in the door.
"Oh I just told him Stephanie was here and he went back inside." He shrugged going to the fridge and went in grabbing some food.
"Oh, okay."
After a small silence and the sound of Duncan cutting food on the cutting board, he finally broke the silence. "So why are you hiding from your 'perfect' husband"
"I just don't want to be bothered with him. Not like it's your business." Courtney snipped.
Duncan smirked while putting the food in the pan "don't tell me that you're mad at me for scruffy."
"Yes! That demon chased me!"
Duncan playfully rolled his eyes "how about I make you dinner as a sorry for scruffy's behavior. I'll have a long stern talk with him." He said mockingly.
She glared " I doubt you can cook."
"Come watch me cook then princess. I don't want to disappoint your royal lifestyle."
Courtney scoffed but still stood up and went to see what he was cooking.
Duncan had salmon on the counter cut and prepped while Duncan was occupied with chicken in the pan.
She wouldn't admit it out loud but it smelled and looked great.
"Impressed?" He said giving her a glance taking out the paprika seasoning.
"What are you making?" She asked ignoring his question.
She couldn't help but look at Duncan's arms, and the way his body moved while cooking.
"I'm gonna make lemon pepper salmon cubes, buffalo chicken dip, garlic bread, lastly steak and potatoes."
"That's a lot of food," Courtney said surprised.
"Have to intake a lot of calories. Trying to bulk up a bit." He shrugged.
No wonder he looks fucking amazing.
"How far are you trying to bulk?"
"Well just a little bit more. But I also have to keep it up. I haven't eaten anything today so I have to make up the calories babe."
"Ugh don't call me that. My name is Courtney."
"Sorry babe. I like calling you that so that's how it's gonna stay. We'll that or Princess."
She just glared and fixed her mouth to reply but was interrupted by her shrill ringtone.
Heading towards her phone she saw Abraham was FaceTiming her.
She debated weather or not she should answer,
She had to make it seem like everything was okay. Fake it to you make it.
Courtney jogged to the bathroom and answered the phone.
"Hello."
"Hey sugar, how's the girl's night?"
"Oh Um pretty good. We just got done watching a movie..." she shrugged trying not to cringe at the nickname.
"Oh, what movie and who's bathroom is that? Looks different from heathers or Bridgette's bathroom?" Abraham asked.
Trying to hide her panic she blinked "10 things I hate about you. And Heather got her bathroom renovated a little while ago. Like last week so yeah."
He just nodded " Let me see what the bathroom looks like, she always had good taste in decor."
Just then Duncan opened the door and froze when he saw her.
He opened his mouth confused till he heard Abrahams's voice.
"Babe, did you hear me? Who's there?" He asked confused seeing her turn away.
"I uh... sorry Alejandro I'll get out. I'll call you later okay? Bye." She said quickly before hanging up.
"Really? Alejandro?" Duncan chuckled.
"Shut up." Courtney rolled her eyes before leaving Duncan in the bathroom.

A/N: This chapter was a filler tbh. I forgot who but someone mentioned scruffy and I realized that I forgot he had a spider and I missed the opportunity so I took it in this chapter. There will be a lemon in this chapter. And from now on this story will have longer chapters so I won't have like 30 chapters. Probably 3,500- 4,000 words instead of 2,500-3,00.
How are you? Mentally and physically? How was the holidays?
