Chapter 2

It has been two months since Izuku met Nejire and became friends with her. Every day, they'd meet in the park to play together, train together and generally have fun. It surprised Izuku to learn that Nejire was in truth nearly two years older than him. She was short for her age, and Izuku assumed she was his age or a year older at most.

Nejire had wanted to transfer to his school to be with her friend, but her parents had refused. That led to Nejire spending a lot of time with him after school. She even came to his house to study together which was really embarrassing for Izuku as his mother was extremely happy that Izuku had a friend. His mother had cried when Izuku introduced Nejire, spouting some nonsense about Izuku choosing right. His mother then proceeded to show Nejire every embarrassing pic she had of him and even shared some stories much to Nejire's delight. Suffice it to say, that Izuku spent the next week after that with a red face each time he saw Nejire.

"Izu-kun!" Izuku was taken out of his thoughts as a missile glomped him from behind.

Nejire had taken to calling him 'Izu-Kun' just the second day after meeting him. Izuku had found it embarrassing at first but got used to it quickly. He kind of liked it now.

"N-Nejire!" Izuku smiled, turning his head to look at his friend who was still hugging him. "You're a little early today."

"I couldn't wait to see you, Izu-kun! What are we going to do today? Are we going to spar? Try new techniques? Did you find a way to make your enchantments take a shorter time? How was school today? What about Aunty Inko?" As was her habit, Nejire went on and on without stopping asking all kinds of questions. Izuku could barely keep up with her or even remember all her questions.

Izuku tried to answer as much as he could anyway. "School was good, and mom wants to know when next time you're going to be over so she'd cook your favourite." He said, earning a happy smile and a tightening of the hug from the excitable girl.

"Aww! You two are so cute together!" Nana said, earning a blush from Izuku and a big smile from Nejire who finally separated herself from Izuku.

After that, they started doing their usual cardio exercises. Nejire always insisted that they do it together and Izuku accepted, but that didn't stop him from doing exercises when Nejire wasn't around either. After they finished, they sat on one of the benches, resting and drinking water.

"You know, Izu-kun. Your quirk reminds me of mages and magicians in fiction with all those amazing spells and stuff like that!" Nejire said with a flourish of her arms.

Izuku nodded. It was true. His quirk worked a lot like magic from older fiction. It was why he called it Enchantment, after all.

Wait a minute. Izuku suddenly had a thought. My quirk is a lot like magic. Mages don't go with imagining the whole process every time since it takes a lot of time but rather automate that with a known spell. They use runes, certain languages, wand-waving… etc to do that. Maybe if I treat my quirk the same way… He searched the ground for a moment before finding a leaf. Picking it up, he decided to check his theory. I need a word for it though first… Something to focus on the effect of the spell that I intend. I think I should start with something simple.

"Katamaru!" Izuku yelled, a green glow engulfing the paper and the usual green light surrounded it like always. He quickly tried to tear the leaf but it resisted him even better than before.

It worked? And it only took a moment? I need to make sure…

"Nejire, can I try to change your hair colour again?"

Nejire tilted her head for a moment before giving him a smile. "Of course, Izu-kun!"

He put his hand near her hair. "Green Hair!" Izuku could've come up with something more complicated or cooler, but for such a simple enchantment, it wasn't worth it. Not to mention that Izuku was feeling impatient, wanting to confirm his theory for sure.

Lo-and-behold, it only took a moment for Nejire's hair to change colour to a brilliant emerald shade that suited her very well.

"It worked!" Izuku exclaimed. "You're a genius, Nejire!" Izuku's body moved on his own, too drunk with excitement to register, as he hugged Nejire.

Nejire didn't really understand what was going on, but Izuku was happy and he was hugging her. That was enough for her!

▬▬ι═══════

"No, Izuku." Nana shook her head. "You're doing it all wrong!"

Izuku stopped his punch mid-swing at that. He had just started learning how to fight from Nana using the memories that she had. She had admitted that while she wasn't a master, she had spent a lot of time training her body, and would do her best to train him right since there wasn't any dojo near his house. (The nearest one was in another city and was so expensive that Izuku didn't want to burden his mother.)

"What am I doing wrong, then?" Izuku asked in frustration.

Nana stood with one hand on her waist while the other raised as she entered her lecture mode. "First thing first. Your thumb needs to be on the outside for if your thumb was on the inside of your fist, you could very well break it while punching someone."

Izuku sighed before he nodded, adjusting his fist.

"Good. The second thing is your legs." Nana said as she prodded his feet with her tiny ones. "Place your feet a little wider than shoulder-width apart. Lift your back foot heel up."

"I'm doing this right, Nana?" Asked Nejire, who had decided to join in Izuku's training.

Nana shook her head. "Point your toes in the direction of your punch. Pointing your feet away from your target will result in a less powerful punch. And keep your knees bent. When you punch, your knees can then extend, giving your punch extra power that you need." Nana looked at Izuku, nodding in approval. "That's good, Izuku. Move your hips and torso to generate power and then use them to swing back in position."

Izuku and Nejire attempted to get it right a few more times before they earned Nana's approval.

Nana continued her instructions. "It's better that you breathe out before you punch. Exhaling will help loosen your muscles right before contact. Why do you think you hear martial artists yell or make a noise before they make a punch?"

"Really? I thought it was just tradition to yell or something. Like if you don't yell, then you're not a real martial artist." Nejire said, her eyes wide with amazement, making both Izuku and Nana giggle at her.

Nana continued to give advice. "Punch straight with your arm, not with a swing. Don't cock back your arm because you'd be telegraphing your attack a mile away, warning your opponent that you're going to punch them before you do it."

Izuku nodded. "It's like when Bakugō starts his fight using a right hook. You can tell he's going to attack long before he actually does it."

Nana nodded in approval, happy that Izuku was paying attention like she told him. "Exactly, Izuku. Now, I can only think of two things left to say. First, you should aim for a place that would hurt and do the most damage: The chin, Solar Plexus, Temple… etc. And the second thing is to make sure that your opponent always stays within your range. Your strongest punch doesn't land when your arms are fully outstretched. Your punch hits harder when it lands a bit shorter than your full range of motion."

Izuku nodded, absorbing everything that Nana had said so far. All of it made sense to him now that he was told, but he'd never have thought of most of it on his own if Nana hadn't instructed him first. It went to show the importance of a competent instructor who corrected their students before their bad habits settled in.

"Why are you teaching Izu-Kun that, anyway? He's got a really amazing quirk. Why would it matter if he knows how to correctly throw a punch?" Nejire said as she attempted a punch. Even after spending all three years with her, Izuku didn't understand how she could always look so cute. Even when she was practising her punches.

Nana shook her head in disappointment. "That's very naïve thinking, Nejire-chan. I guess this shows that despite your intelligence, you're still young and inexperienced." Nana paused a moment before giving Nejire and Izuku a serious look. "Izuku, Nejire-chan. Don't ever only rely on your quirks. One day, you'll find yourself in a situation where you can't use your quirk for one reason or another. What would you do then? Just stand around and do nothing? Risk the lives of people because you only focused on your quirk? Can you call yourselves Pro Heroes then? You'd be barely better than amateurs."

Izuku didn't need to think much about it before he agreed with Nana. He'd never forgive himself if he somehow failed to do his job because he couldn't use his quirk at any given moment. Sure, there were times when it'd be impossible to do anything against certain villains. Then, one needs to simply do their best and protect as many people as they can. However, if they could've won but didn't simply because they were lazy enough to never train their bodies… That they couldn't even do anything without their quirk… Well, he didn't want to be that kind of hero. He didn't think his conscience could take the guilt.

He looked at Nejire to see her eyes alight with the same determination he surely had in his. It seemed that he wasn't the only one motivated to do their best and be the best hero they could ever be. Izuku liked that about his friend. She was energetic, cheerful and a bit of an airhead. But, when it really mattered and it concerned being a hero, she'd show how serious and resolved she was.

"Don't worry, Nana! I'll never allow myself to rely only on my quirk! I'll train my body and brain too!" Izuku declared passionately.

Nejire whooped, jumped in the air, and floated for a moment before she deactivated her quirk and fell on Izuku's back. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her legs around his waist as she forced a piggyback ride on Izuku. It wasn't the first time that she did it, so Izuku didn't even budge from it. His face was red as a tomato though.

"Yes! Izu-Kun and I will train our bodies to the limit and then Plus Ultra!"

Nana grinned proudly at them for a few moments before his grin turned into an evil smirk. "Alright, since you two are really motivated. Each one of you will now do a thousand punches. And I'll only count the correct ones!" She said, causing both of them to face fault onto the ground from their shock.

"A T-Thousand!" Izuku stammered.

"What? You think that's enough to do it once? Pros train all their lives, perfecting their techniques. Don't think that you'd only do it once before you can use it in a fight. Now, get those asses moving!"

▬▬ι═══════

"What should I buy? What should I buy? Hmm…" Izuku thought out loud as he traversed the local underground mall.

Nejire had gotten her acceptance letter into U.A. just yesterday, and Izuku wanted to buy her a gift so he could give it to her at the celebration later that night. Izuku chose the underground mall that was near his house to buy her a gift, but so far, he hadn't managed to find something that he thought was good enough for Nejire. His best friend.

So here Izuku was, searching for a proper gift for Nejire.

"I wonder what she would like-" Izuku couldn't continue his thoughts as a loud explosion rocked the mall. A shockwave passed, throwing Izuku to the ground and destroying several shopfronts. Cries of pain and horror were heard as the smell of something burning filled Izuku's nostrils.

Izuku raised his head and looked around in panic searching for the source of it all. It took him a few moments before he saw it. Down in the open area in the middle of the wall, on a level below the one Izuku currently was on, stood a man in the middle of an inferno.

A blond man in his late twenties wearing a black and green outfit with red and black gauntlets. He stood in the middle of a 'safe' place, but all around him was fire and destruction. There was no doubt who was the reason for all of that. Not with the maniacal grin on his face, and the cruel glint in his red eyes visible even from this far. He was clearly a villain.

Izuku could see people who were injured by the explosion. Some clearly suffered nasty burns while others had more horrific injuries. Izuku nearly vomited at the sight of some of the injuries he saw.

People were running in every direction like headless chickens. If no Hero arrived and no one managed to calm them down then the results were going to be disastrous. Quirk usage in public was forbidden, but Izuku knew that he had to do something or the situation would get worse.

He needed to ready himself first in case he was caught in one of the villain's attacks. "Ignis Armatura!" and then followed immediately by "Yoroi!". Light flashed as a translucent green and red sheen of light covered Izuku's body signifying the effects of the spells taking place.

"Ignis Armatura." Was a spell that created an armour that protected him against heat and flames. Its effectiveness depended on whether Izuku knew how hot the flames he was dealing with.

"Yoroi." On the other hand, it was a general-purpose armour spell and thus was weaker than a specialized armour spell.

Before Izuku could do anything else, he saw the villain raise his arm and a small ball shot out of his gauntlet. The ball started shining, the light blinking rapidly before it exploded causing another explosion. Although this time it was weaker.

His quirk… How does it work? At first, I thought it was like Bakugō's, but it doesn't seem like it.

Izuku had no time to ponder on it more as the villain aimed at a mother with her little daughter running away, ready to fire another explosion.

Without thinking, Izuku jumped over the railing and into the lower level. He quickly cast "Hitei Rakka," a spell to negate any fall damage as he was falling.

As soon as he landed, he took out a wooden stick from his pocket and ran toward the daughter and her mother. Izuku found out that using something to focus his quirk made it faster and more efficient. He also found out that a normal stick couldn't take more than a few enchantments before it broke.

Izuku raised his wand as he took aim. "Kanmon!" He yelled just as the villain threw another of his exploding balls. A shimmering green semi-circular barrier surrounded the mother and her daughter just in time for it to intercept the ball. The ball exploded as soon as it hit the barrier sending fire and shockwaves all around it, unable to penetrate it.

The villain saw that his attack didn't work and took notice of Izuku. He scowled at him. "You little shit! That was your doing, wasn't it? You want to be a hero? How about I kill you too!?"

"I won't let you, villain!" A sudden voice interjected as someone landed in front of Izuku, between him and the villain. The ground cracked as they landed.

The arrival was a woman. She was shorter than Izuku by a good margin. She had an athletic build with muscular arms and legs. She had tanned skin, red eyes which are tilted slightly inwards, long eyelashes, and beautiful soft looking straight white hair reaching down past her waist. On her head, she had a pair of long white fluffy rabbit ears pointing upwards with a slight crook, which gave Izuku the urge to pet them. Along with these, she also had a round white tail. She wore a confident cocky grin that sent pleasant shivers down Izuku's spine.

The girl was extremely beautiful, maybe the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but her beauty wasn't the only reason that made Izuku extremely flustered, his face turning an unhealthy shade of red. No, it was what she was wearing.

She wore a costume consisting of a sleeveless white leotard with dark purple trim around her shoulders and waist, a wide, yellow crescent moon design over her chest, and two thick metal plates on her midriff. She also had purple thigh-high boots to compliment her leotard, with more plating around the heel and two areas, making her feet look like those of a rabbit. She also had a pair of thick white gloves on her hands with long cuffs, sporting small triangular protrusions around their edges.

The costume clearly showed her gorgeous muscled body and her thick thighs that could crush a man's head.

Izuku may have gotten used to girls because of Nejire and Nana, but he still was going to react to seeing such beauty in front of him. A beauty he recognised as The Rabbit Hero: Miruko. A new Heroine that started working with the pro hero, Lion King: Leonel as his sidekick. The new heroine was vocal about her dislike of working with others, but she was required to work as a sidekick for a certain time before she was allowed to debut as a Pro Hero.

Miruko looked at him, a grin on her face. "That was a good save, kid. I saw it, but couldn't make it here in time. Now, you should get out of the way as I kick this asshole's ass."

Izuku nodded. "He has some explosion quirk. I couldn't see enough to know how exactly it works but don't get hit by the balls he throws. They glow rapidly before exploding."

"An explosion quirk, huh… Thanks for the heads-up kid." She said before she bent her legs and launched herself at the villain, the ground underneath her cracking even more from the force of her jump.

Izuku decided to follow her orders and vacate, idly noticing that the woman and her daughter had long fled the scene. He also noticed that there were still a lot of people on this level and that they stopped running as soon as Miruko showed up. Instead, they had their phone in their hands filming the whole thing. Izuku groaned at their stupidity, though he himself was no better when he was younger before Nana set him straight. It was a side effect of the way their society was, and how people felt safe with heroes around and started treating such incidents as entertainment.

Izuku saw Miruko try to kick the villain who raised his gauntlet to block it. The gauntlet was cracked and the villain was sent flying in the other direction, but not before his hand touched Miruko's leg. Izuku's eyes widened as the same glow from the balls before was now on her leg. A moment later, a large explosion engulfed Miruko sending her flying into a wall with a cry of pain. Izuku stared horrified at the sight of Miruko's burned leg. Burned and mangled skin and meat, and her leg's covering was completely destroyed. Other parts of Miruko's body suffered slight burns, but it was a miracle that her leg was still intact.

"Shit." Miruko cursed, standing on her feet, blood dripping from one leg. Izuku was awed by the fact that she could even stand, let alone that she still had her confident grin on her face.

The villain was also standing, a maniacal grin on his face. "Hahahaha! How did you like that, Hero?" Before raising his right arm and shooting several glowing balls at her.

Miruko didn't waste time and moved despite her injury dodging every single one as she raced towards the villain with the balls exploding behind her. She didn't notice that the explosion also blocked the exit, which meant that no one was leaving the place. At least for the moment.

Miruko crouched just as she reached the villain before she jumped with a spin, avoiding the villain's hands and delivering a spinning kick to his shoulder. Izuku winced as he heard the sickening crack as the villain was sent flying again howling in pain.

Miruko's celebration was short-lived as her other leg glowed before it exploded sending her in the opposite direction.

How? He didn't touch her this time!... Wait… could it be? Izuku's mind worked over time as he analysed the villain's quirk. He looked at Miruko to see that she was in a worse condition than before. Now her other leg was as bad as the first one. Izuku gazed wide-eyed, admiration clear in his eyes as Miruko yet again stood. Ready to attack the villain again. She was a true hero, that one. He shook his head, however, to dismiss his awe of her. Now wasn't the time as he needed to tell her what his hypothesis was.

"Miruko! I think his quirk lets him turn anything that touches him into a bomb!" Izuku yelled as he wracked his brain, searching for a way to deal with this villain. Miruko didn't have any long-range attacks and relied on close-range combat. It'd be suicidal of her to face him like that.

Miruko clicked her tongue. "Didn't I tell you to run, Kid?" She growled at him.

Izuku pointed at the exit. "The exit is blocked by the explosions from earlier. No one can leave here for now."

Miruko's eyes widened as she looked at the exit before taking in everything around her. She scowled at the people who were still standing like morons, filming the fight. "What the fuck are you doing, you morons?! Get your sorry asses inside one of these stores!" She shouted at them. The pure rage in her voice and the furious glare sent them running inside a nearby store. Even Izuku feared for his life.

Before everyone could enter the store, however. Several glowing balls were seen flying in their direction. Izuku acted fast, using his energy breath attack to explode the balls long before they reached their targets.

Izuku turned to the heroine who was standing now in front of the villain, ready to tackle him again. "Miruko, you can't take him on alone. You're not suited to dealing with his quirk." Izuku was already casting the next spell. "Velox Motus!" That allowed him to enhance his body's speed and reflexes. He used a good amount of energy to raise his speed by several folds.

Miruko glared at him. "I can take care of this myself. I don't need anyone's help!" She yelled at him, getting ready to charge the villain who was up from where he had crashed and visible from the cloud of dust that was raised upon his impact.

"You fucking, brat! You keep on interfering! That's right! My quirk allows me to turn anything that touches me and anything that I touch into a bomb! Now, it's time for everyone to die!" He yelled as he raised his hands in the air. His palms facing the ground as his gauntlet shot several balls in the air.

Izuku's eyes widened as he understood the implication of what the villain's quirk could do. He didn't waste time as he used his newfound speed to blur to Miruko's location. He put an arm on her back and the other behind her knees as he forcibly carried her and ran as fast as he could to the same store that the others had gone into. The balls exploded, sending fire and shockwaves everywhere and bringing more destruction.

"W-What!?" A shocked Miruko shouted. "What the fuck, let me down? I don't need your help to move!" She snarled, struggling to get free.

Izuku held onto her tighter as he made it inside the store, closing the door behind him, just as the villain was bringing his arms down aiming his hands toward the ground.

Mentally apologising. Izuku non-gently put Miruko on the ground before he aimed his wand at the storefront.

"AEGIS!"

"HIMAMORU!"

"DEUS ARMIS!"

He quickly cast three consecutive enchantments. He felt the huge drain in his reserves as he enforced the storefront to withstand the explosion, fire and shockwaves. He made it in time just as the villain's hands touched the ground. The ground glowed for a moment, blinking rapidly before a massive explosion went off shaking the whole mall as fire, debris and shockwaves slammed into the enchanted storefront.

The people behind him shrieked and yelled in fear as they dove to the ground hoping to escape certain death. However, while the storefront shook and was bathed in red light from the fire. Nothing made it inside as Izuku's enchantments held, successfully stopping the explosion from destroying the store and roasting everyone inside.

"Shit!" Miruko cursed as she shakenly stood up.

"See why I told you that you're not suited to face him?" Izuku rounded on her.

Miruko huffed, crossing her arms and averting her gaze. "Fuck off. I don't need anyone's help to defeat him."

Izuku raised an eyebrow, idly amused by her childish reaction. "How were you planning on fighting after you knew how his quirk works?"

"I'd have just continued on attacking him. A few hits and his body would've been too injured to fight anymore. Either my body gave up first, or his quirk."

Izuku goggled at her answer. "What the hell? That's suicidal!"

Miruko glowered at him. Putting her arms on her waist, she leaned closer so that her face was directly in front of Izuku's. Izuku almost took a step back. "If it meant taking him down and protecting the civilians then I don't mind dying for the greater good."

Izuku stared at her in total shock. A part of him admired her conviction and her will to pay the ultimate price to save people. She was a true hero. Another part of him was annoyed at her pride. That she'd throw her life away just because she didn't accept anyone's help.

I wonder what the hell happened to her that she's so against accepting anyone's help.

He narrowed his eyes at her preparing himself mentally. "Now isn't the time for your pride, Miruko! Why should you die for scum like him? You should live another day to save more people! Please, let me help you. I don't know why you refuse to work with others, but I promise that I won't let you down!" Izuku pleaded with her to understand while outside the fires raged on as more explosions were heard.

Miruko held his gaze for a few moments before she averted it. Her hand moved through her hair, rubbing her head angrily, a scowl on her pretty face. She growled before sighing in defeat. "F-Fine! I'll trust you to help me this one time," she said, clearly embarrassed that she needed someone's help, a dusting of pink on her cheeks.

The sight of the blushing beautiful heroine brought red to Izuku's own cheeks. "Okay. Let me use some enchantments on you first."

The wand was getting worn out, Izuku noticed. It'd last until he finished enchanting Miruko, but no more.

"Jūjitsu Kenkō!" The first one was a healing enchantment. Izuku hadn't figured out how to truly heal someone. What he could do, however, was enchanting a person's natural healing and regenerating factors to a much higher level. The body would heal on its own, but much faster than it was natural.

The enchantment did its work as Miruko watched in amazement, her injuries healing right before her eyes. It didn't heal completely, and there was some discomfort and slight pain, but nothing she couldn't handle. It took about two minutes for her legs to be healed enough for Miruko to be in top condition or rear it.

The next enchantments were: "Ignis Armatura," and "Deus Armis."

"Hmm… What do these two do?" She asked, inspecting her body as the translucent sheen of light wrapped around it.

Izuku smiled. "They'll protect you from the fire, heat, and force of the explosions. You can hit the villain as much as you want and his explosions and fire will never hurt you."

Miruko grinned a grin that promised extreme pain for a certain villain. Izulu almost felt pity for him.

▬▬ι═══════

The outside was a literal inferno as the flames raged everywhere. The villain stood in the middle of the storm, walls of fire surrounding him as he laughed like a maniac so sure of everyone's death. He didn't care as he kept on causing explosion after explosion. The surrounding ground was destroyed, with cracks appearing on the mall's walls. It was a miracle that the mall hadn't crumbled yet. Everything was on fire as the flames reached the level above.

The scene was like one out of hell.

Suddenly, a figure appeared out of the sea of fire. Like a demonic rabbit out of hell, Miruko emerged from the fire with a deadly glare and a mad grin that would've sent any sane person running away screaming. She looked like a vengeful goddess, with her clothes torn and her body literally on fire. It wasn't actually burning as Izuku's enchantment protected her from the fire and the heat, but running through a sea of flame made it cling to her hair, giving her the appearance of a fire demon from the underworld. In fact, the fire clung onto Miruko's legs and hands too.

"W-Wha-" The villain didn't get to fully comprehend what happened as Miruko used her incredible leg strength to perform a cartwheel, delivering several flaming kicks to the villain.

"Flaming Luna Ring!"

The attack broke several of the villain's bones as he was launched up into the air. Her legs glowed from the villain's quirk. An explosion engulfed her, but she shrugged it off thanks to Izuku's enchantment protecting her. Miruko wasn't feeling merciful as she planted her leg into the ground and bent her knees before launching herself into the air, shattering the already destroyed ground into pieces.

She reached above the villain who was still flying mid-air and delivered a flaming downward kick, "Flaming Luna Fall!" sending him crashing into the ground. Dust and debris flew into the air as the villain's body cratered the ground, sinking several meters into the rubble.

▬▬ι═══════

The villain thankfully hadn't died. While it was accepted that sometimes heroes had to kill in order to save people, it was still frowned upon. Doubly so when the hero in question was only a sidekick that started a few months ago. Apparently, Leonel was in another area fighting another villain when it all happened, answering the question of why Miruko was alone.

After that, the firefighters and the police arrived at the scene alongside rescue heroes. They managed to put out the fire and get everyone out, including the injured. The night wasn't all sunshine and roses since more than seven people actually died and there were a dozen more injured. It made Izuku feel that he didn't do anything in the end, that he wasn't good enough.

"What got you so down, kid?" Izuku was snapped out of his thoughts when Miruko approached him. This was the second time she talked with him after he had enchanted her. The first was when she explained to the police officers his role and how she was the one who asked him to help her to avoid him getting into trouble. He was thankful for that as despite why he did it, it was still counted as vigilantism, and he could kiss his dreams of U.A. goodbye if it went as a black mark on his record.

Izuku frowned, his head dropping slightly. "So many people have died… If only I was better or- Ouch!" Izuku yelped as he was slapped on the top of his head before a gloved hand grabbed his chin and brought him down. His face was inches from Miruko's and her eyes staring at his. Izuku blushed red at the close proximity of the gorgeous woman's face.

She glared at him. "Don't be a moron. You saved a lot of people today."

"B-But-"

Miruko squeezed his chin to shut him up. "Don't. If it wasn't for you, that daughter and mother would've been dead. If it wasn't for you, then I and the people you protected would've been dead. If it wasn't for you, then I wouldn't have been able to beat that villain as easily! Your quirk is really amazing."

Miruko's hand on his chin, her words and the intensity of them left Izuku a blushing mess. "I-I guess you're right."

"I am right." Miruko retorted smugly. "Be proud of what you've done today. Those who died are on the villain's hands, not yours nor mine. I'd have liked to save them all, but reality and ideals are two different things. You better remember that."

Izuku nodded. Miruko's words of course were right and made sense, but it didn't stop Izuku from feeling a little bit guilty. It wasn't as much as before though. "Yeah, thanks, Miruko."

She gave him one of her grins. "Now, get going. I'm sure your parents are worried about ya."

Izuku paled knowing that both his mother and Nejire would be worried sick about him. He said a hurried farewell to Miruko and was about to run to his home before she stopped him.

"Wait!"

Izuku stopped, turning toward her.

"What's your name, kid?"

Izuku blinked and stayed silent for a moment, having not expected that. "Izuku. Izuku Midoriya."

Miruko gave him a beaming smile that made Izuku's face go nuclear. "Well then, Izuku. I'm Rumi Usagiyama. You can call me Rumi if we ever meet again." She said before she jumped away.

Izuku made his way home, mentally preparing himself to deal with a worried mother and a best friend, with a smile on his face the whole way.

▬▬ι═══════

"Get out of the way, extra!" Bakugō stormed into class as charming as an eel.

Izuku simply rolled his eyes at the explosive boy's lovely personality. "Say, Bakugō. You keep calling other people extra, does that mean that you think of yourself as the main character? The hero?"

Bakugō gave him an are-you-seriously-asking-this look. "Of course, who else?" One had to admire the arrogance that the teen had.

Izuku rolled his eyes at Bakugō's ego. "It doesn't fit you know. You have a loving family, incredible talent, and an amazing quirk and yet you're a big asshole. That would either make you the villain character or at best, the asshole rival that is always a step behind the hero." Said Izuku with a smirk. He knew that would generate an amusing reaction from the teen in front of him.

He wasn't disappointed.

Bakugō was fuming now, and Izuku was impressed by the particular shade of purple that he could achieve when angered. "What the fuck did you say about me you little shit? And what, doesn't that apply to you too?"

Izuku raised an eyebrow with an amused smirk on his face. "What's that, Bakugō? Are you implying that my quirk is as amazing as yours, or that I'm talented or both?" He snickered at Bakugō who started to emit sparks from his hands. "However, you forget that I have three things that almost every main character needs in their backstory." It wasn't as if he saw himself as the main character of some story, for that was absurd, but he enjoyed Bakugō's reactions.

"Huh? What's that?"

Izuku smiled smugly just to make Bakugō angrier. "At least one absentee parent, courtesy of my father that disappeared when I was 3 and a jerkass rival. You. Not to mention the mascot character, Nana!" Thankfully she wasn't around to hit him for calling her a mascot. "So, it'd be me who's the Main Character while you're a rival at best, so… an extra."

"Deku!" Boom! Bakugō finally exploded and rushed an amused Izuku who didn't bother moving from his seat.

"Kanmon," Izuku whispered as a small semi-circular light green barrier was erected around Izuku, effectively blocking Bakugō's explosion. It immediately disappeared after that since Izuku didn't bother to put more energy into it to block more than one attack.

"Deku, you fucking coward! Fight me!" Bakugō screamed at him, his anger rising even more.

"Bakugō-san, Midoriya-san. Please don't fight inside the classroom or inside the school. And, Bakugō-san. Please go back to your seat." Their teacher interrupted as he entered the classroom carrying a stack of papers.

Bakugō clicked his tongue in annoyance but complied with the teacher's orders. Izuku knew that if Bakugō was attacking a student other than him then the teacher most likely wouldn't have interfered at all. After all, both he and Bakugō were seen as the hope of this miserable school. They had amazing quirks and so they could do whatever they wanted. Who wants to negatively affect the career of a kid with the most potential to be a Pro Hero after all? And for the sake of kids with weak quirks?

They disgusted Izuku. He didn't like receiving preferential treatment just because his quirk was better than the next kid. It was the type of thinking that Izuku abhorred even if he was one of the lucky ones blessed with a strong quirk. He saw how the teachers treated anyone who didn't have a strong enough quirk. How he and Bakugō were treated better than the rest and allowed more leeway. Bakugō of course basked in the attention and saw it as his right. Izuku on the other hand chose to use it to categorise people. Those who treated others based on only how useful their quirk was were scum that didn't deserve his time and was part of the problem in society.

Izuku shook his head to get those thoughts out of his mind. He didn't want to sour such a good day. This morning he was actually able to catch a villain attack and witness first-hand the debut of the new heroine Mt. Lady. It wasn't every day that one could witness the debut of a hero. He blushed slightly, remembering Mt. Lady's… assets. He was sure that she was going to be a favourite of many males very quickly.

"You guys are all Third-years now! It's time to start thinking about your futures!" the teacher yelled at the class as most students just ignored him, "I would hand out these future forms, but…" With an exaggerated theoretical performance, he threw the papers in the air, "I assume you all want to be heroes!"

Izuku rolled his eyes at his teacher's theatrics. This guy in particular, was one of the worst in Izuku's opinion. His disregard for anyone who had no potential of becoming a hero coupled with his brown-nosing towards Izuku and Bakugō, made Izuku dislike him a lot. If the moron thought that either Bakugō or Izuku would ever mention him when they became Pro Heroes, then he was in for a rude awakening. It wasn't as if anyone knew who taught All Might in middle school, or even cared to know, so why the moron thought that they'd be his ticket to fame was beyond Izuku.

The class erupted in chaos as everyone let loose their Quirks, spitting in the face of the Quirk Use Regulation laws.

"Yes, you all have wonderful Quirks," said the teacher, lightly reprimanding them, "But you know it's against the rules to use them in school."

"Sensei! Don't lump me with these losers!" Shouted a voice that belonged to none other than Bakugō.

Putting his legs on the desk, "As if I had anything like their crappy Quirks. Heh." He declared with a confident, cocky smirk.

"Get over yourself, Katsuki!"

"Shut up! Extras should act like extras!"

"Ah, Bakugō… You, of course, must be aiming for U.A. High School," the teacher's voice cut in before the so-called extra replied to Bakugō.

"That national school? The cut-off score this year is 79, right?"

"I hear that they barely accept anyone!"

Bakugō jumped on top of his desk, "Ah, the stupid chattering of Extras! I aced the mock exam! I'm the only one here with the stuff for U.A.!" He declared proudly, "I'll even surpass All Might and become the best hero out there! Not to mention, I'll be one of the richest people in the world!"

Izuku scoffed. If his bullying, belittling of others and general attitude weren't enough, then surely this would've made it clear that an asshole like Bakugō wasn't suited at all to be a hero.

"Oh. You're also going to the U.A. Hero course, aren't you, Midoriya? In fact, you aced the mock exam, breaking all records."

"Midoriya, huh."

"Well of course he would go there. His quirk is even more useful than Bakugō's."

"We're really lucky to have two classmates with this much potential."

Izuku rolled his eyes at the comments of his classmates. These morons expected to be treated better because they were classmates of the next top hero. Seriously, who cared about the middle school classmates of All Might? Even he, a massive fanboy, didn't know their names. If they thought they could ride on his or Bakugō's success then like their teacher, they were going to be severely disappointed.

"Deku…" Bakugō growled his name, still on top of his desk.

Izuku locked eyes with him. He could see the anger and jealousy in his eyes. Bakugō wanted to be the first student ever from their school to enter U.A. But Izuku's existence had shot that down, especially with him outscoring him in the mock exam. Izuku wasn't normally a petty or arrogant person, but Bakugō had always rubbed him the wrong way. He narrowed his eyes at him, smirking smugly.

Bakugō's eyes narrowed, a vein popping on his forehead.

"Bakugō-san, please sit down and don't start another fight with Midoriya."

Bakugō didn't move for a moment before he clicked his tongue and sat in his seat. Izuku, however, saw the promise that it wasn't over in his eyes.

"Just wait a minute, Deku." Bakugō's voice stopped Izuku as he was exiting the classroom.

Izuku looked over his shoulder, a disinterested look in his eyes. "What do you want Bakugō?"

"The best heroes out there, well… they've shown signs of greatness even as Students…" said Bakugo as he stared at Izuku, "I'll be the first and only hero from this crappy public school. The first to win the honour of becoming a student of U.A. High whether it's a Hero course or not. Guess I'm a perfectionist." Bakugō glared at Izuku. "Or so I'd have liked. You're going to ruin all that, Deku."

Izuku smirked. "You're welcome."

Bakugō bristled and tried to grab into Izuku's collar, but he simply took a step back, dodging him. "You think you're funny, Deku? You think that you're hot shit? Even if you get into U.A then I'm going to crush you so bad there that you're going to give up on being a hero."

Izuku took a step forward, his eyes narrowing as they began to glow, giving him a sinister look, especially with the wide smile that he had. "You think that you can crush me, Bakugō? Don't make me laugh… Tell you what. If you can outscore me on the Entrance Exam, I'll leave U.A. and will never even attempt to be a hero in another school. Deal?"

Bakugō was taken aback for a moment before his arrogant grin was back in place. Leaning forward, he scowled at Izuku. "Fine. I'm going to enjoy crushing your dream, Deku." He said before leaving the classroom.

Izuku sighed. He really didn't want to deal with Bakugō for the next three years. He took a look at his watch, realising that he was late. Izuku chose to use another path back home since it was a shortcut.

Just a couple of blocks away from his house, Izuku went through an old deserted tunnel. Suddenly, Izuku felt a presence, but before he could even move something attacked him.

A large amount of slime-like substance suddenly was all around him, restraining his arms and legs as it wrapped itself around his body.

W-What? Izuku thought in panic as the disgusting thing entered both his mouth and nose, preventing him from being able to breathe.

"Ah, you're going to make a good meat suit for me to use. I hope that you have a good quirk too." A voice as slimy as its owner made Izuku aware that he was captured by a villain.

A villain that was planning on using his body which likely meant his death. Izuku's eyes were becoming hazy as his body fought for every bit of oxygen that he could get. He could feel his body growing weaker, a burning sensation in his lungs as struggled for air. If Izuku didn't do anything, then he was going to die for sure.

Ah… Shit.

AN:

First, I hope that you guys enjoyed the chapter. I finished this one faster than I expected.

Thanks to those who reviewed, followed and favourited. I was surprised by the reception that I got from a single chapter, not to mention the fact that I said updates won't be consistent or fast.

Well, this chapter follows Izuku's training after meeting Nejire, how he learnt to use his quirk better and of course a villain attack that features best girl Miruko.

On that note, fuck you Hori. Go indulge your amputation fetish on people like Bakugo, Shiggy… etc.

Izuku and Miruko meet for the first time, and the villain forces them to work together. We will learn later why Miruko hates teaming up with people, but I hope that you enjoyed the fight here for now.

We also saw that Izuku is much more confident here than in canon as seen with the way he interacts with people, especially Bakugo.

Next chapter will be about Izuku meeting AM for the first time. He will actually also meet two more Pro Heroes too during the next chapter.

As for spells that weren't really explained in the chapter:

Kanmon: Means Barrier. A semi-circular barrier that protects from a lot of attacks. The strength depends on how much energy Izuku puts into it.

Aegis: Well the name comes from the shield carried by Athena. It's a shield/barrier spell stronger than Kanmon.

Himamoru: Means Protection from the sun. It's an effective spell against fire and heat-based attacks. Unlike Ignis Armatura, Himamoru is better used on objects since the protection weighs down on the enchanter, making them slower.

Deus Armis: Means Arms of God. It's a spell that increases physical abilities; endurance, defence and strength.

Hitei Rakka: Basically means 'Denial of Falling'. It's a spell that negates the fall damage from any height depending on how much energy is used.

More of Izuku's quirk and its limitation will be explained as the story progresses and Izuku learns more about it.

Anyway, I hope that you liked the chapter. Please follow, favourite and review.
