Chapter 4
Standing in front of U.A.'s main building was a teenage boy staring in awe at the tall all-glass building. It was his first time seeing it in person.
The teen in question was about 6 feet tall. He had long fluffy dark green hair pulled into a messy ponytail with two long bangs framing his face. His ponytail now reached below his shoulder. He had lost the last of his baby fat leaving him with an angular face that made him look older than he was. His eyes were a little sharper and narrower but still had that innocent look to them. The teen had symmetrical freckles, four on each cheek, in diamond formations. A unique feature for him. The teen wore a black school uniform that barely hid his toned muscled body.
This was the place for the written part of the Entrance Exam before they explained their Practical part. At each side of the path leading towards the main gate stood out the busts of great, famous heroes of old, welcoming the new students and reminding them of the heroes who took these same steps before them.
Izuku had done everything he could to be here. He had trained his body, his quirk and his mind for this day. He wasn't going to let anyone who believed in him down; his mother, Nejire, Nana, All Might, Mt. Lady and Ryuko.
This was the first step toward achieving his dream
"Okay, here we go." He said as he took a single step forward. The first step of many on the path of his journey toward becoming the best hero in history.
▬▬ι═══════
Izuku took a step forward, then had to sidestep as an angry blond barged forward, uncaring if he hit other people on his way or not.
"Get the fuck out of the way, Deku!" the teenage bomb exclaimed angrily.
Izuku rolled his eyes. "I see that some things never change, Kacchan," He finished with a mocking tone knowing the reaction he'll get from the blond. Bakugō hated being called Kacchan since Izuku took to using it when he was mocking him.
And sure enough, Bakugō whirled back with his ever-present angry scowl. "What the fuck did you just call me?"
"I think that I called you Kacchan,or did your explosions finally affect your hearing, Kacchan?"
"Are you mocking me?!" The blond asshole exploded. Literally. Sparks and smoke flew from his hands and he marched forward towards Izuku.
Wow, he figured it out!
Izuku simply stared impassively at the teen. "Are you seriously going to use your quirk in front of U.A with everyone watching? U.A. most likely has cameras installed and they're seeing everything happening. You think they'll appreciate you starting a fight right in front of their gates?"
Bakugō winced for a moment before his scowl returned with doubled intensity. "Don't think this is over, Deku. I'll fucking crush you at the exam!" He declared before he stomped away, hands in his pocket.
Izuku simply smirked. There was no way he was going to lose to Bakugō of all people. Deciding it was time, he walked through the gates.
▬▬ι═══════
A few minutes later, Izuku found himself sitting beside Bakugō in a giant auditorium.
'Well, this is awkward' thought Izuku.
A voice cut in before he could say anything, "WELCOME TO TODAY'S LIVE PERFORMANCE! EVERYBODY SAY HEEEEEY!" A man with extremely long blond hair that was gelled upwards and toward the back said as he cupped his ear.
...
Silence
...
The man seemed to collect himself very quickly as he thrust his hand upward enthusiastically acting as if he got the response that he wanted, "WELL, THAT'S COOL TOO, MY EXAMINEE LISTENERS! I'M HERE TO PRESENT THE GUIDELINES FOR YOUR PRACTICAL! ARE YOU READY?! YEAAAAAAAH!"
Again, he was met with total silence.
"It's the Voice Hero, Present Mic! Wow!" Izuku was almost in tears, hiding his face behind his hands. "I listen to his radio show every week. He's so inspirational! I guess all U.A's teachers are really Pro Heroes!"
MumbMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumbleMumble
"Shut up!" Bakugō snapped at him.
"This is how the test will go, my listeners! You'll all be doing thirty-minute-long 'Mock Cityscape Maneuvers' against villains we will be providing. You can bring anything you want with you as long as it's a part of using your quirk, and you've been cleared to use it! After this presentation, you'll each head to your assigned battlegrounds."
Izuku glanced at Bakugō's sheet and compared it with his own, the person beside him on the other side and another who was sitting in front of him, craning his neck to do it, "Why are consecutive I.D. numbers assigned to different locations?" he wondered.
Bakugō was the one to answer. "That's so idiots from the same school won't band together in the exam and help each other out, huh?"
"Yea-"
"I'll crush them all!" declared the blond-haired bomb. "However." He gave Izuku a glare. "You get to live another day, Deku! I wanted to crush you in this exam but you were lucky!"
Izuku just rolled his eyes.
"Each site is full of three different kinds of Faux Villains! Points are awarded for defeating each type of villain according to their respective difficulty levels! You can think of it as a video game! Use your quirks to disable the faux villains... And earn points! That's your goal, listeners! Simple, right?!"
"That's my type of challenge." grinned Bakugō madly, imagining all the destruction he could bring to these villains using his quirk and how he was going to crush everyone else.
Present Mic continued. "And of course, playing the anti-hero and attacking your fellow examinees is strictly forbidden!"
"Tch!" Bakugō clicked his tongue.
"HOWEVER!" Present Mic continued. "There is more to this test! Fighting villains isn't the only thing that you're going to do! There is another way to earn points other than Villain Points, and that is Rescue Points! There are professional stunt performers all around the mock cities in various situations that need the help of a hero! You're free to choose who you save or help or if you want to focus on stopping the villains rampaging in the city!"
Izuku blinked at that. He hadn't expected the test to be a little more complicated than just fighting villains, but he supposed they were training to be heroes.
"May I ask a question?" A tall, muscular boy interrupted, raising his hand before continuing after Present Mic gave him permission. He had short dark blue hair, flattened neatly down and parted on the right side of his head, a small patch completely shaved near the base of his head, and rather square eyes which matched the notably pointed shape of his jaw. He wore a serious expression as he raised his provided sheet and pointed at it.
"There appear to be no fewer than four Faux Villains printed on this handout! Such a blatant error, if it was really one, is highly unbecoming of U.A. Japan's Top Hero Academy! We are all here today because we hope to be moulded into exemplary heroes!" He then turned around before pointing at Izuku. "And you with the long green hair in a ponytail!"
Izuku perked up. "Eh, me?" Asked a surprised Izuku as he knew not why he was being singled out.
The serious-looking boy glared at him. "You've been muttering this whole time! If you're just here to play games, you should leave immediately!"
Izuku chuckled nervously. He really needed to control that habit of his. "Sorry."
Present Mic interrupted, "Alright, alright!" He said before pointing at the bespectacled boy. "Examinee number 7111, nice catch. Thanks! Have you ever played Super Mario Brothers?! That ancient retro game? The fourth faux villain is like a Thwomp! Only one at each site! A "Gimmick" that will rampage around in close quarters!" Present Mic's ever-present grin turned more sinister as the temperature dropped. "If you get caught by it, then you'll lose every single point you've earned and have to start from the beginning! Engage it and it's an immediate disqualification!"
Silence reigned as no one spoke, not even the tall boy who just slumped down in his seat after Present Mic finished. Everyone just stared as a sense of unease hung in the auditorium, and even Bakugō was silent and had lost his grin with sweat dripping down his forehead as he took the words in.
"That's all from me!" Present Mic went back to his happy-go-looking self, "Now, my listeners! I'll leave you with our school motto! The great hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said, 'True heroism consists of being superior to all the ills of life.' PLUS ULTRA!"
"Break a leg, everyone!"
▬▬ι═══════
"Has Utsuri-kun managed to do it?" said a figure of a man sitting on an expensive chair behind an expensive-looking wooden desk.
"Yes. The zero-pointer is under our control, and all its weapon systems are fully loaded and ready to be used," said a woman who was standing in front of the desk. "I'm curious though," she said as she flipped her long hair. "Why use it in the Exam? Wouldn't that endanger the examinees there? They could be a boon to our side later."
The man shook his head. "That's exactly why they're going to face the Zero Pointer as it rampages. If they can't survive it then they're weak!"
"And the weak have no place in this world," the woman finished with a smirk.
"What about Ishida?" The man asked.
"He's controlling the feed and will start the loop as soon as the Zero pointer emerges." The woman assured him. "That will give us a few minutes' window. Enough to weed out the weak, and hopefully put a dent into U.A.'s image with a number of casualties."
▬▬ι═══════
"Like a whole city! And they've got a bunch of these on the grounds? As expected of U.A!" said one boisterous boy.
I have nothing to fear. I trained with Nejire, Nana and Ryuko. I've done everything that I can.
After having changed his attire, now wearing a green tracksuit with white accents, Izuku got onto the bus which drove them to the exam site. He looked around him, taking note of the other's appearances and their equipment, seeing one blond kid with a belt that probably had to do with his quirk and another with several limbs, and there was... a girl who was clearly nervous.
The girl in question was a really cute short girl of a rather thin build, with honey-brown hair, curved inward in a mushroom-shaped bob that reached just below her narrow shoulders. She had a long fringe that completely covered one eye. The uncovered eye was wide and rather cat-like; tilted inwards with rather long lower eyelashes, and her iris was a warm brown colour with a little white cross on it. Her mouth was notably large, making her appear cuter.
She was indeed a nervous wreck as she was shaking and fidgeting with a sullen look on her face. Feeling his hero's senses tingling, Izuku started making his way toward the girl to try and help her. He gently tapped her shoulder.
The girl gave a startled yelp as she turned around. She stood still for a moment, her eyes barely even reaching his chest from the height difference. Slowly, the girl raised her head up until her eyes met Izuku's. Izuku gave her a gentle smile, and the girl blushed prettily.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"W-What?" she squeaked out.
"I noticed that you're really nervous just now, so I'm just checking if you're okay. I'm Izuku Midoriya by the way," Izuku explained himself.
The girl's eye widened a fraction. "Ah… Y-Yeah… I'm Kinoko Komori…" she managed to stammer out. "I-I guess I'm a little nervous. I don't know if I can pass the exam," she finished shyly, clearly embarrassed by her show of nervousness.
Izuku tried to give her his best encouraging smile. He was glad that with Nana, Nejire, and Ryuko he got used to talking to beautiful girls, or else he'd have been useless the moment she looked up at him with her blushing face.
"It's natural to feel nervous, you know. There is nothing wrong about it."
"Y-You don't seem worried at all though," she answered back before she blushed and looked down.
Izuku chuckled. "I'm actually really nervous to tell you the truth." Her eyes widened at that. "As I said, it's natural. I just know that I've done everything that I could to prepare myself for this moment, and there was nothing more that I could've done. The only thing remaining is giving my best in the exam, and the rest will follow," said Izuku determinately.
She stared at him wide-eyed for a moment only muttering an. "Oh…"
"What about you?" He asked. "Have you trained for the exam? Do you want to be a hero? To enter U.A.?"
Kinoko nodded. "… Y-Yeah, I trained my quirk and myself all the time… I always wanted to be a hero, and to go to U.A. Yes…" Even though she paused for a half second here and there, Izuku could see that Kinoko had the determination to be a hero.
Izuku smiled at her again. "Then, you have nothing to worry about. If you give your all in the exam, then there is no reason not to pass it. I'm sure you can do it!" Izuku declared passionately, his smile widening more.
Kinoko stared at him strangely for a moment, her cheeks turning red. "T-Thank you," she said softly. "It's just-"
Whatever she was going to say next was cut off by the arrival of another person.
It was the same serious-looking tall guy who called Izuku out. "What are you doing? Just why are you here? The girl was already nervous enough, and yet you want to distract her even further?"
Izuku frowned at the guy, not liking his judgmental attitude.
The girl took a step forward. "W-What? You're wro-" Before she could finish, Present Mic's voice thundered.
"AND BEGIN!"
Izuku's eyes widened in shock as Present Mic announced the start of the Exam. Seeing everyone frozen in place, he muttered to the girl. "Come on, the exam has started. You can do it." Before he ran through the gates.
"Velox Motus!"
"Jōtōtai!"
Izuku quickly enchanted his body using one spell to enhance his speed and reflexes while the other enhanced his durability, stamina, and strength. A general kind of spell. He couldn't use a foci (wand) unless directly related to the work of one's quirk, no items were allowed in the Entrance Exam since U.A didn't want them to just bring a weapon or some fancy support item and rely on it. Since Izuku hadn't updated his quirk registry, keeping the full extent of his quirk a secret, he wasn't allowed to have one with him since his quirk was 'simply energy projection'.
It didn't matter though. He could always pick a random thing to use since he was in the city, and the energy part of his quirk was strong enough to deal with a lot of situations.
He vaguely heard Present Mic yell. "What the hell are you waiting for? The test has already started! That boy had the right idea, there's no countdown in real life, now, GO! RUN!"
A few moments after he started running, Izuku came upon his first villains. Two 1-pointers standing in the middle of the street together. Each one was twice his height, green in colour and their arms had something resembling a shield on them with the number one written in white.
Izuku quickly fired two green energy blasts from his fist, destroying the heads of the 1-pointers as the two robots fell, unable to move any further. That was easy.
"Great, that was two points!"
Another two encounters later with a 1-pointer and a 2-pointer brought his total score up to five points. Turning the corner, Izuku came upon his first rescue situation. Two more humanoid-sized robots were holding a woman at gunpoint. What caught Izuku's attention was the little board on the side showing that this was a five-rescue-point situation.
"So they're telling us what each situation awards?" Izuku pondered as he watched the situation. They seemed frozen, the robots that is, and the woman was checking her phone. As soon as he was noticed, the woman started screaming for help while the robots moved, making threatening gestures.
Already preparing a spell since it took a little more time without a foci, Izuku yelled. "Hey, Villains!"
Robots looked at him, one of them pointed his gun at him while the other still had his gun on the woman. Izuku was finished, however, as he extended his hand. "Kanmon!" A shimmering green semi-circular barrier surrounded the woman just in time as the robot fired at her. The 'bullet' hit the barrier exploding into a blue paint. The other robot fired at Izuku who easily dodged before he fired a green blast through the chest of the robot, destroying it. The first robot now had his gun pointed at Izuku, but it was too late as another blast tore its head off.
Dispelling the barrier, Izuku hurried to the woman. Even if he knew she was a professional stunt performer that was paid to be there, he was still worried about her. "Are you alright?" Asked Izuku, extending his hand to the woman. The woman looked at him with surprise before smiling and taking his hand.
"I'm alright, thank you," she said as Izuku hoisted her up. "Now go, you have more work to do young hero," she added as she took a small notebook and started writing in it.
Izuku nodded before he dashed off in the direction he came from as he saw a group of 1-pointers.
▬▬ι═══════
In a dark room with several screens showing various locations in the different battlegrounds. Several people were in the room watching the events unfold as they were paying special attention so that they could judge the examinees fairly and catch any rule-breaking.
"Such a wide battlefield with a limited time..." said a husky female voice, "It brings out the best of them... I like it!"
Another voice picked up. "There are those who can assess the situation in an instant; Information gathers." The screen showed a tall, muscular examinee with several limbs and appendages on his body creating something resembling a radar.
"Those who'll never be late to the party; Mobility Experts." The screen showed the tall, bespectacled boy crushing the head of a 2-pointer before it changed to another only showing a blue and black blur.
"Okay, seriously, can't he slow down a little? We're barely keeping up even with slow-motion!" complained the same voice.
"Those who can cope with any given situation; Decision Makers." A blond kid firing a laser from his naval was shown. A brown-haired girl who used her mushroom to cushion a 'falling victim'.
Another voice joined. "And then, there are the natural-born warriors...; Combat Experts." The screen showed Bakugou standing in the middle of various destroyed robots, the fire burning all around him.
Everyone nodded at his words. "The abilities needed to preserve peace in our cities are judged by the points they earn," A squeaky voice added.
A very skinny man with sharp, angular features and long limbs, his neck long and his eyebrows absent frowned. He wore baggy clothes that made him look even skinnier. That was Toshinori Yagi, or more famously known as All Might, the Symbol of Peace. His seat was reserved for All Might, his public form, but after needing to use his powers all morning before he came All Might 'apologised', and sent Toshinori Yagi his trusted advisor in his place.
"Not only that," he said. "It also tests them in various rescue situations that they might encounter in their life as a hero. Of course, given their inexperience, we're more lenient with the scoring."
The husky voice from before returned. "Of course, we also present them with a choice. Depending on their priorities and actions, they might lose more points than they've earned."
She added. "What is this boy's quirk though? The green-haired hunk?"
Toshinori saw that she was referring to Izuku, the boy that he had met around ten months ago. He was tearing through the villains with ease. He'll make a great successor, it seems purely based on his strength and quirk. He is barely using the actual application of his quirk, yet he is breezing through the exam with ease.
"He seems to have some energy-type quirk, but he had shown a few weird things like that barrier from the start of the exam and the weird aura that flashed around him right at the beginning," said the squeaky voice from before.
"His strength and speed also seem on the level of a decently strong strength-enhancing quirk! His quirk registry has nothing about that!" Added a gruff voice.
"It's because his quirk is actually Enchantment," Said Toshinori, deciding to explain the situation to his fellow teachers.
"Enchantment?" The husky voice perked up.
"Not that type," deadpanned Toshinori. "The energy he's using is simply a side effect of his quirk. His quirk works by putting the energy that his body produces into an item or it seems a person while desiring a certain effect beforehand. He explained that it was like enchanting magic that you see in fiction. For example, I assume that he used it on his own body to enhance his speed and strength. I know that since I met the boy by accident about ten months ago."
"Damn! That is a strong-ass quirk if he can achieve anything he desires!" The husky voice exclaimed.
Toshinori nodded. "When I met him, he tore a street apart by a wind attack using a stick when a villain attacked him alone."
"Why did he not put that on his quirk registry though?"
The owner of the squeaky voice perked up. "Midnight's reaction probably. His quirk is incredibly versatile and strong. Though we don't know its limits or how exactly it works, a quirk like that would attract the attention of many. He most likely discovered what his quirk actually was a while after he registered his quirk, and someone advised him not to update the form."
"That's not really ethical," a person pointed out.
"It's not," the squeaky voice agreed. "But I'd have probably advised him the same. You wouldn't want a quirk like his falling into the wrong hands…"
Toshinori noticed the discreet look that was sent his way and nodded grimly.
▬▬ι═══════
Izuku ducked under the swing of a 2-pointer before spinning, delivering an energy-clad kick that tore the robot's arm off. Izuku noticed that two other robots were just behind the one in front of him. All lined up perfectly for him. Smirking, he opened his mouth. A ball of green energy formed before he fired it as a breath attack that tore through the three robots at the same time.
He didn't have time to rest as a 1-pointer hit him with its shield, sending him skidding a few meters away. Izuku was lucky that he had enhanced his body or else that attack would've broken something for sure. Izuku ran at the 1-pointer directly. The robot tried to punch him, but Izuku jumped easily over the arm and the robot. Just as he was in the air above it, Izuku's hands caught the robot's head as he twisted his body, taking its head off as he continued to land on the ground behind the robot.
He turned around and saw the girl that he had met just before the start of the exam with a 2-pointer standing in front of her ready to attack. Just as he was about to go and help her, he saw a dust-like substance spread from her to the robot. Suddenly, big mushrooms began growing from various parts of the robot before it fell apart as mushrooms also grew from inside of it.
Izuku's eyes lit up in excitement as his analytical mind worked to figure out her quirk. It took him only a few seconds. "That was amazing, Komori-san!" Izuku exclaimed as he landed in front of the girl who shrieked cutely before she blushed as she saw who was standing in front of her. "Your quirk allows you to grow mushrooms anywhere you want? That dust was the fungus spores, wasn't it? I wonder, can you control how big the mushrooms are? As I noticed they were bigger than they naturally are. Mumble Mumble Mumble Mumble Mumble Mumble Mumble Mumble."
A gentle cough brought him out of his little world. Izuku blushed, rubbing the back of his head as the girl stared at him with amusement.
"Sorry, it's just a habit."
The girl shook her head with an embarrassed blush on her face. "H-How did you know about my quirk?"
"I just saw you use it. I was confused at first, but quickly connected the spores to what happened and figured it out. I have a habit of analysing quirks."
Kinoko looked at him with amazement. "Y-You must be really smart to figure it out that quickly."
Izuku gave her a sheepish grin. "Yeah… Thanks. Anyway, you want to team up? No one mentioned anything about teaming up, and Heroes work together all the time in the field." Izuku secretly wanted to help the girl. She seemed nice and her quirk was quite amazing, but with no idea of how many points she had, he didn't mind helping her out. He had noticed how the number of robots wasn't as high as at the start of the exam, so even if she did her best, she might have been just unlucky enough to not encounter many robots or any rescue situations. For those with no mobility quirk or a quirk to gather information, it would be harder for them to keep track of the villains and rely only on timing and luck.
Kinoko's eyes widened for a moment before she shook her head. "No."
"No?"
"No. E-Even if it was allowed, I don't want to pass because you helped me. I-I want to do it on my own so I'm sure I deserve my place at U.A!" Kinoko declared passionately with an obvious determination that made Izuku smile.
Giving her his best bright smile, Izuku nodded. "I'm sure that you'll pass, Komori-san. See you at U.A.!" He said before he sped off in another direction.
▬▬ι═══════
Three minutes later, Izuku came upon another rescue situation. Two rescue situations to be exact. The first one was a simple cat stuck on a tree, while the other was a half-destroyed building with a collapsed entrance and there was even a floor that was on fire.
The first situation has rescue points of 25! While the collapsed building only offered 5 points. Izuku raised his eyebrow at the numbers but didn't even give it any thought as he raced toward the collapsed building. Using his enhanced strength, Izuku jumped to an opening on the first floor. Unknown to him, a shield-like barrier rose around the cat rescue situation behind him as the artificial tree's branch lowered to let the cat jump off safely.
Izuku saw two men collapsed (actually just pretending to be unconscious) under large pieces of debris. Izuku immediately went to them. He checked the debris and found out that it was made of a sponge, and not real concrete. He easily lifted them off the men and threw them away. He picked up the two men, each one with an arm thanks to his enhanced strength, and jumped off the same opening he entered. He put them gently on the ground a good distance away from the building before he went back inside. He rescued two more victims trapped inside their rooms. An unconscious victim in a hallway and two others were cornered by the fake fire.
He put the last of the 'victims' on the ground outside when it happened.
▬▬ι═══════
"Quite a crop we have this year, huh?" the woman from before added.
"Nah, no way to tell yet," Toshinori said. "This should tell us more..." He said as he flipped open a glass panel revealing a big red button called, 'Yaruki Switch' something that looked like a button you should never press or disaster will follow.
In an instant, chaos reigned as a gigantic robot, the zero-pointer, finally appeared causing havoc and destruction simply by moving through the cities, crushing buildings that it hit on its way. The examinees froze for a second before they hightailed it, running away as fast as they could from the monstrous titan.
"People show their true colours in the face of that thing," a sleepy male voice added, joining in for the first time.
All Might grinned before spreading his arms open, "When they have nothing to gain... More than that, when they actually have everything to lose, rising to the challenges at those times... IS SURELY THE MARK... OF A GREAT HERO!"
▬▬ι═══════
Suddenly, the ground shook and a gust of dust engulfed the whole place making Izuku cough. Izuku's eyes widened as the surrounding dust settled revealing the enemy. It was a gigantic green robot with a massive flat head with a number of red lenses on it and a pair of massive arms that could crush a vehicle flat. Izuku felt like it was overkill for U.A. to use it in a simple exam.
Examinees all around him ran away from the massive robot. Not only did being caught by it mean losing one's points, but engaging it was a sure way to disqualification.
Then, the red lenses all lit up menacingly, before a rocket launcher from its back started firing rockets in a random direction. Thankfully, it only hit far away empty buildings destroying them, but it alerted Izuku that something was wrong. It was further confirmed when the stunt performers that he just rescued panicked for the first time, shouting about how that was not supposed to happen before they began running away too.
The Zero pointer brought its arm down, causing further destruction. A building was hit causing debris to fall to the street. Izuku noticed some examinees running under that building about to be crushed by the debris. Immediately, he used his energy blasts to destroy the debris. The situation was getting more dangerous with each passing moment as the zero pointer continued its rampage. Then, the massive robot pointed its main gun at the street that Izuku was in. Many people were running through the street as it was the widest. Izuku realised that it'd be a disaster if nothing was done.
He picked up a fallen pipe just as the Zero Pointer fired. Izuku stepped forward in front of everyone else as they froze, staring at the destruction coming their way. Izuku raised the pipe and used it to channel his energy.
"AEGIS!"
"DEUS ARMIS!"
"HIMAMORU!"
Izuku yelled, putting as much energy as he could into the three spells. A massive dome of shimmering green energy surrounded the whole area. The rocket hit the dome and a massive explosion engulfed the area. The whole street shook from the power of the explosion as fire, dust and shockwaves washed over the dome. A few kids fell to their knees as they understood just how close they came to their deaths if it wasn't for Izuku's protective barrier.
Izuku himself was panting from how much energy he put into the three spells. His cheeks were sunken a little, and he could feel that his stomach was also a little caved in. He was feeling tired as he had been using his quirk for a while now, and now he had to overpower the barrier to protect everyone.
"M-Midoriya!"
Izuku turned around to see Kinoko running to him. "Are you alright?" She asked just as she stopped a small distance away from him.
"Y-Yeah… Just a bit tired."
Another explosion rocked the barrier, making Kinoko shriek. Izuku glanced worriedly at his barrier. The Zero Pointer was apparently set on attacking them. There were many injured people, thankfully none too serious, and even if the healthy ones escaped the barrier to continue their escape outside the city they'd be vulnerable to attacks from the Zero Pointer. He had no idea for how long his barrier could last, and no idea when the pro heroes from U.A. would arrive. He needed to do something and something fast.
The problem was that he had no spell that could take out the Zero Pointer easily. The Zero Pointer was just too massive and too armoured for any of his attacks. He hadn't trained with something of that calibre as it'd prove too destructive if he used such spells in training. Not to mention the potential backlash if it failed. After all, every spell he used was something that he had trained in for hours after hours. The more complicated the spell and the stronger it was, the more training it took for Izuku to be able to use it safely. Else, it'd backfire and hurt him and everyone else.
The last option was using pure energy on it. However, he needed a lot of power stored to do that, and he was spent! He looked at Kinoko who looked ahead in fear as the barrier shook again. He got an idea.
"Komori-san? Are your mushrooms edible?"
Kinoko was startled for a moment. She tilted her head in confusion. "… Yes? But they disappear after two hours so you don't actually get anything from them, why?"
Izuku smiled at that. "Please, make as many mushrooms as you can."
"Eh? Okay…" said Kinoko before she started creating mushrooms for Izuku.
Izuku used the pipe in his hand, which was falling apart from his earlier use, to cast more spells with the last of his energy to vastly increase his digestion rate and his metabolism. He looked at the mushrooms ready before him and got ready to eat.
▬▬ι═══════
The exam was ending soon, but something in Toshinori's gut made him feel uneasy. It was the instinct that he had developed over the years of working as a Pro Hero. He was proven right when Midnight gasped, pointing towards the window. Toshinori's eyes widened as he saw where she was pointed out. From Site B, the furthest mock city from where they were sitting was a huge cloud of smoke rising into the sky.
"What the hell is that?" asked Midnight.
"Wait!" Vlad King who was watching the feeds yelled. "This footage from Site B is being looped! It's not even from the same Site!"
Toshinori looked. The footage showed the Zero Pointer walking and everyone running away from it, but then he noticed that none of the examinees inside the footage was actually in Site B now that he had looked closer at it.
"What? Get us the real footage, now!" Nezu squeaked, his tone conveying how serious he was.
A few moments later, the real footage was on the screen showing that Toshinori's gut feeling was right. The Zero Pointer was cornering the examinees, and firing one missile after another at them. A large green dome surrounded them holding off the attacks, but they had no idea how long it would last.
"Everyone, I want you at Site B, now!" yelled Nezu as he eyed the screen anxiously. Midnight and the others didn't need to be told twice as they rushed out of the room. Toshinori waited a moment before he transformed into his full form, and rushed out of the room. He only hoped that he was fast enough and that his power lasted long enough to reach there in time. He had already gone past his limit today, and this was pushing his body even further.
▬▬ι═══════
Izuku was dying. He felt like he was going to explode from how many mushrooms he had eaten in the last two minutes. Since a huge part of the energy his quirk produced depended on the lipids in his body, he was used to eating great amounts of food before training, and in a record time too.
Since the pipe had completely fallen apart. Izuku picked up a scrap of metal from the ground. It wouldn't last long, but he only needed a few easy spells. He looked at the mushrooms that were still on the ground and the injured people around them and got an idea.
He quickly used another spell that basically increased how fast the mushrooms themselves were digested. With part one finished, he proceeded with part two.
"Jūjitsu Kenkō!" He casted his healing enchantment on the mushrooms, giving them the enchantment itself rather than using it on them.
"Komori-san, give those mushrooms to the injured people. It'll help them," Izuku said as he directed his sight at the goliath that was standing just outside the barrier. The barrier itself was flickering. One last explosion, and it'll disappear.
Quickly, Izuku redoubled the enchantment on his body before he cast an additional "Federleicht!" to make his body much lighter. He used his new enhanced strength to jump to the wall of a nearby building cracking the pavement underneath him as he jumped. He jumped as soon as he hit the wall, using it as a platform to jump much higher in the air.
As soon as he reached the apex of his jump, Izuku was out of the barrier. The Zero Pointer noticed him as it aimed at him. Izuku gathered as much energy from his body as he could, drawing all his reserve for one massive attack. Just as the Zero Pointer fired, Izuku roared.
"Dragon Roar!" Izuku roared with all his might, naming his energy attack for the first time. A massive beam of pulsing green energy erupted from his mouth, completely eradicating the missile before engulfing the Zero Pointer. Izuku cried out of pain as the energy made it out of his body through his throat and mouth. Pain like no other coursed through his body as he felt his throat and mouth tear apart from the massive energy that went through them.
It only lasted for a few seconds, but for Izuku, it felt like it lasted an hour of agonising pain. The roar had destroyed massive chunks of the robot, reducing it to a pair of limbs (its arms), but also started a massive explosion as the missiles and ammunition exploded along with the remnant of the robot. The explosion was big and strong enough to finally destroy Izuku's barrier, creating a massive shockwave and winds that sent Izuku's body flying through the air.
Izuku coughed out blood as he sensed his body flying, but he couldn't do anything as he used all of his energy and then some. His body was under huge strain from the amount he used at once, and he couldn't even move. Izuku, feeling extremely tired, closed his eyes, and his world went dark.
▬▬ι═══════
Kinoko watched in awe as Izuku jumped so high in the air that he looked as if he was flying. What followed increased her amazement as she witnessed Izuku's massive attack destroy the robot. Her amazement turned into horror as she saw Izuku's body being thrown away because of the shockwaves that resulted from the explosion that followed. An explosion that destroyed the barrier, and almost sent everyone flying away from the gales of winds.
"Midoriya-chan!" She yelled in fear for the kind and handsome boy who helped her with her confidence before the start of the exam. The same boy who had protected them all from the robot earlier, obviously saving their very lives.
Kinoko ran hoping to be able to reach the boy in time. She didn't know what she was going to do to save him as he was going to crash into a building or the ground, but she had to do something!
However, it turned out that she didn't need to worry as a blur suddenly caught Izuku in mid-air before it landed on the ground. The blur was revealed to be All Might in all his glory, with Izuku being carried in his arms.
Kinoko reached them just as All Might laid Izuku on the ground gently. She gasped as she saw his state. Izuku had blood falling from his mouth, staining his shirt, and his cheeks were sunken even more than before. He looked gaunt, almost malnourished.
She felt her eyes getting blurry as tears started falling from them. "I-Is he alright?" Kinoko asked frantically looking everywhere for a way to help him. She saw the people who were eating the mushrooms, the ones that Izuku used his quirk on, visibly getting better. She ran and picked one herself before doubling back to Izuku. She fumbled, trying to figure out a way to get him to eat it. She was about to try and open his mouth when a voice stopped her.
"I'd not do that if I were you."
Kinoko turned around to see an old woman walking on a stick. She was about to shout at her before a hand on her shoulder stopped her. Looking up, she saw All Might smiling at her. "Don't worry, young lady. Recovery Girl can take care of your friend here," he said. Kinoko sighed in relief having heard of Recovery Girl, but she couldn't help but sense that All Might seemed tenser than usual.
She saw Recovery Girl take a look at Izuku before shaking her head. "We need to move him to the infirmary. I can't treat him here, and he obviously used too much stamina and energy for me to use my quirk on him right away."
Another person, whom Kinoko vaguely recognised as Vlad King, arrived and carried Izuku in his arms sideways before he went on his way.
"Those mushrooms of yours… They have healing powers?" Recovery Girl suddenly asked her.
Kinoko shook her head. "Midoriya-chan did something to them and told me to give them to the injured. I don't know what he did, but my mushrooms are just normal ones usually."
Recovery Girl nodded her head as she surveyed the scene around her.
"Is he going to be alright?" Asked a worried Kinoko.
Recovery Girl smiled at her. "Don't worry. If you want, you can go and wait for him at the infirmary."
Kinoko nodded resolutely. It was the least that she could do.
▬▬ι═══════
Izuku's eyes fluttered open. His sight was blurry for a few moments before it focused. He found himself sleeping on a comfortable bed in some kind of infirmary. Looking to the side, he was surprised to see Komori sleeping on a chair beside his bed.
He tried to call out for her, but his throat felt like it was on fire. He looked around for a glass of water, but he found none.
"M-Midoriya-chan?" a voice from his side called out to him. He turned around to see Komori awake, staring at him with wide eyes. "You're awake!" She suddenly exclaimed as she threw herself on him, hugging him with all her might. "I was so worried!"
Izuku was surprised by her reaction but smiled gently as he sensed her relief. He gently patted her back, making her release him. Izuku wanted to ask her what happened, and why was she there, but he couldn't talk.
"Are you alright?" Asked Komori, her face was completely red while not looking at him directly.
Izuku opened his mouth without saying anything and gestured to his throat hoping that she'd understand.
Komori looked back at him and frowned. "You can't talk?"
"And he won't be able to until at least tomorrow," a voice said interrupting them.
Izuku looked to see a short old woman with a walking stick shaped like a syringe. His eyes lit up in excitement as he recognised her as Recovery Girl.
Recovery Girl threw him a small whiteboard with a marker. "Use that until you can talk again. You've heavily injured your throat, young man. I hope that this won't be a pattern with you. I don't want more idiots that don't care about their well-being!" she yelled at him, sending him a threatening glare that made him gulp.
She continued. "Just a question. Those mushrooms… How did you make it so that it could heal everyone injured?"
Izuku used the board to answer. "I used my quirk to enchant the mushrooms. Anyone who ate the mushrooms would have their natural healing factor enhanced and sped up, that's it. It's not like it is some kind of magical healing, merely enhancing what they already have."
"Speed up their healing… Interesting, that kind of reminds me of my own quirk… Anyway, young man. Don't drink anything for another two hours, don't try to use your throat and you should be fine by tomorrow. You better not repeat this in the future," she said before leaving the room.
Izuku looked at Komori. "Thank you, Komori-san, for watching over me."
Komori shook her head. "No, I'm the one who should thank you. You helped me, and then you saved all of us from that rogue Zero Pointer."
"It's what a hero does."
Komori smiled prettily at him. "H-Hey… Can I call you Izuku?" she asked, taking Izuku by surprise.
Izuku stared at her shocked for a few moments, his cheeks red before he nodded.
Komori blushed heavily. "T-Then, please call me Kinoko, Izuku-chan."
Izuku nodded with his own blush. They stayed silent awkwardly for a few moments before Kinoko talked. "A-Are you really alright though? Because of facing the Zero Pointer… I tried to get them to listen to reason and give you my points but they wouldn't listen to me!"
Izuku's eyes widened getting what Kinoko meant. Attacking the Zero Pointer was a point for disqualification. He didn't know if it still applied as he wasn't sure what exactly happened back there, but he simply shrugged. "It is what it is. I don't regret what I did. If they disqualify me, then I'll just go to another school. I proved myself with everything that I have. I have no regrets."
"I-If it happens, then I'll go to another school too!"
"What!? Why?"
Kinoko stared resolutely at him. "If they don't allow a hero like you to enter their school because of a silly rule, then they don't deserve to call themselves the best hero school in the country! If someone like you, who's a true hero, isn't allowed to be here, then I don't want to be in this school too!"
Kinoko's words warmed Izuku's heart. Although he tried to get her to reconsider it, she wouldn't have it. In the end, Izuku gave up. He was discharged half an hour later and went back home after exchanging numbers with Kinoko who happily called him her friend.
▬▬ι═══════
Yu sighed, taking a sip from her drink. She had just finished her patrol and was getting a drink with her friend before she went back home; she, like her friend, was wearing a hoodie that obscured most of her face, not really in the mood to deal with fans.
She had been distracted the whole day, knowing what exactly happened today in another part of the city. Of course, she was thinking about the U.A. entrance exam for the hero course and if a certain green-haired kid had passed or not. Yu didn't know why, but she had thought of the boy called Izuku a lot since the time she had met him all those months ago. Especially after he gave her the support items that he promised. Mt. Lady only tried them once so far, but they made a big difference already. It only got worse as the date for the entrance exam drew nearer and today it was a big headache as it left her pretty much distracted most of the time. Hell, she tripped and almost fell into a river in her giant form because of it! Even Ryuko has noticed and commented on it, but Yu just avoided the question. She, for some reason, didn't tell Ryuko about Izuku, but she also hasn't told her about her financial situation either. Ryuko was her girlfriend. A recent situation. Yu not only didn't want to leech off her but felt like it was too soon for them to open up about everything to each other.
Yu had been impressed by the boy, no doubt about it. He was brave enough to risk his life to help a total stranger instead of pretending that it wasn't his problem. He even went out of his way to help her after he figured that she was having financial trouble. She had gone and said that she'd root for him, and she would, believing that he could pass the entrance exam, and she did believe that, but it all didn't help her from feeling strangely anxious today with the exam taking place at U.A.
She was snapped out of her thoughts by her friend calling her name. "Yu! Yu! Are you there?"
"Ah, sorry! I was distracted a little."
Uwabami, who wore a similar hoodie, sighed. "You've been distracted all day! Anyone on your mind?" she gave her a sly smile since she didn't know yet of her relationship with Ryuko. "Thinking of Shinji and him flirting with you the whole day?"
Yu was taken aback a little, not following her friend's thought process. "Who?" she was honestly confused. 'Do I know someone called Shinji?'
Uwabami blinked at her. "Um... Shinji... Shinji Nishiya as in Kamui Woods?"
This time it was Yu's turn to blink. "His name was Shinji?"
Uwabami's jaw touched the floor as she goggled at her friend before she snapped. "You've been working on the same team for a little more than three months now! He has been flirting with you all day! And you don't even know his name?"
Yu rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. "Well, I just thought knowing his hero name, Kami Wool, was enough and didn't pay much attention, sorry. I didn't know that he was flirting with me, like at all..."
Uwabami just stared at her for a few moments before shaking her head. "Thank god that he wasn't here or the poor guy would've probably died from embarrassment,"
"Anyway, what were you thinking about then? What's gotten you distracted all day?"
"Nothing!" Yu replied a little too quickly, "Nothing really."
Uwabami didn't appear to have believed her but thankfully had dropped the subject.
"Anyway, I have a new commercial coming that'd get some really sweet money, want in?"
Yu perked up at that, she needed money, after all, she had twelve kids to take care of and spent the rest of the time before going back home discussing it with her friend.
▬▬ι═══════
Yu opened the door. "I'm home~" and braced herself. It didn't take more than a moment before three missiles collided with her as she kept herself from falling to the ground, wrapping her arms around the three little brats that glomped her; two blond boys and a girl with black hair, her five years old triplet siblings.
"Sis! You're home!" the kids exclaimed happily as they buried themselves in their older sister's bosom.
Yu smiled warmly as she hugged them closer. "Yup! Y'all didn't cause problems for Yumako and Yukio, did ya?" seeing them avert their eyes, she gave them a stern look, "Yuji, Yugo, Yuka! What have I told ya about listening to your eldest brother and sister?" putting them on the ground, Yu tried to glare at them. Tried being the keyword as the three used their puppy eyes on her before they exclaimed in unison. "Sorry, sis!"
Yu sighed before she gave them a warm smile. "Fine, fine... Just don't do it again."
"Yes, sis!" the three little menaces said before scurrying off to cause some more mischief.
"You're too soft on them Yu."
Yu looked to see Yumako, who looked like a younger version of her only with black hair, standing at the entrance of the living room.
Yu sighed. "I try, and ya know..." before she shook her head, "Anything interesting happened today?"
Yumako shook her head. "The usual, but..." she trailed off grimacing before she continued. "The landlord came asking for money, the grocer asked me to pay up what we owe him and Yuudai's, Yui's, and Yuzu's schools are asking for money too."
Yu walked towards the living room with Yumako trailing behind her, seeing the rest of her siblings either watching TV, lazing around on a sofa or studying, and was greeted with a cacophony of "Welcome home sis!" she smiled at them before she reached the kitchen; she filled a cup with water and drank before she began rubbing her forehead.
"Okay. Fine, I'll take care of it tomorrow."
"Do we even have the money for that, Yu? I told you I could see if I coul-"
"No!" Yu cut her sharply. "You are too young to work, and I swore that I wouldn't let any of ya work before ya have to!" She took a breath to calm herself. "Uwabami hooked me up with a commercial that'd get us enough money for the rest of the month and hero work is picking up these days. We'll be good, don't ya worry."
"But, sis... You don't have to do everything yourselves... You're not responsible for all of us!"
Yu glared at her. "Of course, I am. I'm your older sister." Before she went to one of the only two bedrooms in the apartments to change her clothes.
A few minutes later she was out, wearing purple pyjamas making her way back to the kitchen to start preparing food for her siblings; she began preparing the vegetables, rice, and chicken she needed for the meal and started working on it.
"Yu! I want the new All Might toy! Everyone in my class ha- ow!" one of her brothers, Yuuto, said before he yelped after Yukio smacked his head a little.
"Don't listen to him, Yu; you bought him a toy a few months ago!" Yukio said before he turned to berate his younger brother.
Yu stopped working for a moment, feeling guilty that her siblings had to go months before they could buy something new while kids at their school probably could buy it any time. She began calculating what she expected to earn this month and how much she had to pay. Thank you, Izuku! She thanked the green-haired boy since she managed to defeat villains without needing her quirk in the last two days.
"It's fine, Yukio! And Yuuto, just give me a few days, and I'll buy you one!" she said, smiling softly.
'I guess I have to forget about that shirt I wanted this month... oh, well.'
"You're the best Yu!"
Yu's smile got wider at that.
▬▬ι═══════
"Good night!" Yu said as she tucked the last of her siblings in before she went back to the living room. She yawned, feeling tired as she put a blanket on herself, preparing to sleep on the sofa which was a little too small even for her.
Then, she got an idea, taking out her phone, she dialled a number.
She had met the guy back when she was learning under Midnight, and he had helped her from time to time with a few things. He was a little creepy though.
"Hey, Nezu! I want to ask ya something!"
"Yu? Hello to you too, what do you want? I was planning all the fun things that our new students would be doing this year!"
Yu rolled her eyes. "Ya can continue thinking of ways to torture them later... Say, the entrance exam was today, right?"
"Yes...?"
"There is an examinee that I want to know if he passed or not."
"Well, results aren't out yet and won't be for a few days, but if he was one of those that have obviously passed and only needed to get exactly how many points they had in total and make it official, then sure. I could tell you."
"Well, his name is Midoriya Izuku. Got something on his results?"
"Midoriya Izuku? That's an interesting choice... Well, don't worry about him. Izuku-kun passed with flying colours! He's going to be a great hero."
Yu smiled brightly at that and was about to yell yes before remembering that her siblings were sleeping. "Thank ya, Nezu. Can I ask ya for a favour?"
"Hmm..."
"Can I be the one to tell him that he passed? I kind of owe him for something, and I promised I'd root for him to get into U.A."
"Well, I guess I can do that. When the result is out, I'll send the letter and his address to you so that you can take it to him."
Yu smiled again, "Thank ya, Nezu! I owe ya one! Bye-bye!" and she ended the call before she went back to trying to sleep, this time with a big smile on her face.
▬▬ι═══════
Bakugō stared in horror at the hologram. He couldn't believe his eyes and ears. He had barely passed the Entrance Exam to U.A.
Barely. Right at the very bottom despite raking in so many Villain Points.
All those years of training and hard work were almost wasted…
Moreover, that damn Deku had blown his score out of the water. In fact, Deku was at the very top! Bakugō felt a vein in his forehead snap. "Damn you, Deku! I know that you're looking down on me! I'll crush you at U.A and teach you your place!" The blond raged for the rest of the night.
▬▬ι═══════
Izuku was sitting on the sand, on the same beach that he and Nejire had cleaned out, staring at the setting sun with Nana sitting on top of his head. He was smiling softly as he gazed at the beautiful sight in front of him.
"Izu-kun!" With that, his peaceful time was interrupted with the arrival of Nejire and Ryukyu who was trailing behind her. Both of them looked stunning in their casual dress and under the lights of the setting sun.
"I've heard about everything from Nejire," said Ryukyu as she sat beside him a decent distance between them.
It turned out that Nejire had gotten a recording of the Entrance Exam from Present Mic after annoying him for hours. As soon as she saw it, Nejire almost flew to his house with tears in her eyes. She caught Izuku as soon as he got back, and hugged the life out of him after berating him for hurting himself.
Ryukyu continued. "That was an impressive, and very admirable thing that you did, Midoriya." She then frowned at him. "Don't go overboard again though. There are people who care about you, and they would be sad if something were to happen to you."
Izuku smiled warmly at Ryukyu's words. She didn't need to say it, but it was clear that she meant herself as one of the people who cared about him.
"Ryuko is right, Izu-kun! I and Ryuko would be really sad if you were hurt!" Nejire exclaimed, making Ryukyu blush trying to deny that.
Izuku simply smiled. "Thanks… Though, I'm sorry, Ryukyu. Nejire. There is a chance that I might not have made it into U.A. because of that rule."
"If U.A. doesn't let you in because of that, then they'd have an angry dragon to deal with!" Ryukyu said with narrow eyes.
"Yup! I won't stay in U.A. even if they beg me! I'll go wherever Izu-kun goes!"
Nana finally piped in. "That's right! U.A. would lose any respect that I have for it if it doesn't accept you, Izuku!"
Izuku laughed at that and shook his head. "No need for that. I don't really have any regrets. I did my best on the exam, and I'm pretty sure that I gathered enough points. I don't regret saving everyone even if it hurt me or made it hard for me to get accepted into U.A. I proved myself, and I can be a hero at any other school."
Before anyone could say anything to that, Izuku's phone rang. He saw that it was his mother, so he answered it immediately.
["Izuku! Honey!"]
"Yeah, mom?"
["Your… U.A. letter is here!"]
Izuku's eyes widened at that. "I'll be there right away!"
"What happened?" Ryukyu asked in alarm.
"My result letter has arrived!"
Ryukyu and Nejire stared shocked for a moment before they demanded they go with him, and see the letter too.
▬▬ι═══════
"Izuku, honey!" He was immediately embraced by his mother who was trembling like a leaf from her nervousness. "Oh, Nejire-chan too? And… RYUKYU!" His mother shouted in surprise at seeing a top ten hero in the house with them.
Ah, right. I forgot to tell mom about Ryukyu…
Inko turned around awkwardly and everyone saw her looking toward the side. They looked at the person that they didn't notice until then.
"YU!" Ryuko screamed.
"RYUKO!" Yelled Yu.
"Yu!?" Izuku suddenly said, making everyone turn to him. Ryuko raised an eyebrow at that.
"What are ya doing here?" Yu asked Ryuko. Izuku felt that there was something that he was missing here.
"Me? What are you doing here, Yu?"
Yu extended a hand, and a letter with U.A.'s symbol on it was in her hand. "I'm delivering U.A.'s letter to Izuku."
"You're doing that?" Asked Izuku in surprise, having not expected that.
"Yup!" Yu confirmed with a bright smile, enhancing her beautiful features. "I've asked Nezu to get it to you personally so we can open it together." She turned towards Ryuko who was staring at her with a frown. "I didn't expect to have Ryuko with ya though…"
"I didn't expect you here either," said Ryuko with a sigh. "It doesn't matter for now; we can talk about it later."
Yu nodded before she handed the letter to Izuku. Now that he had the letter in his hands. Taking a deep breath, Izuku opened the letter and a disk fell from it.
The disk then lit up, "It's me, Nezu, the one who could be a dog or a mouse or a bear, but more importantly... I'm the principal!"
"I'm sure you've been waiting impatiently for your results and in fact, they were actually all ready to be sent three days ago! I just wanted the students to feel extra nervous!" Nezu said before he started cackling madly, making them sweat at his antics. "You've really impressed me and other staff members with your performance in the practical exam, and you scored a perfect score on the written exam! You'd have easily got into U.A if it weren't for your actions in the last moments that made us disqualify you, I'm truly sorry!" Nezu bowed his head.
Izuku was shocked, but he nodded silently, having prepared himself for this moment.
Nezu continued. "Did you really believe that? HAHAHAHAHHA!" After three minutes of Nezu's mad cackling. "I swear! Your face must've been hilarious!"
Everyone deadpanned at the mad rat. Izuku could even hear Ryukyu gritting her teeth.
Suddenly, All Might entered the screen too. "I'M HERE AS A RECORDING!" He then looked at Nezu. "Now that you had your fun, leave it to me!"
"All Might?" Izuku squeaked out, surprised by his idol's sudden appearance.
"Heroes are not only about their quirks and strength, young Midoriya! They should be kind, have the power to move the hearts of the people and save their lives even if they have everything to lose!"
All Might beamed at him. "Not only did we calculate Villain Points and Rescue Points, but we also took care to see the decisions of each individual. Their thoughts and priorities. Like choosing to save the people in a collapsed building despite the easier option with more points. Your actions alone at the very end are more than enough to qualify you to be at U.A! Such a heroic spirit deserves to be at the best school! Your actions saved lives, and for that, we're eternally grateful to you, young Midoriya!"
All Might bowed to him, shocking everyone and making Izuku's chest swell up in pride.
He continued. "A Hero Course that rejects those who do the right thing could never be called a Hero Course! Think that all of this is for the cameras? Of course not! This is a job where you risk your life and put your money where your mouth is! Not only the rescue points that you've collected during the exams are included, but also your actions at the end are a factor here! A panel of judges awarded it, a way for U.A. to evaluate you!"
The camera showed a dark room with people voting using scorecards.
Then it changed again, this time showing Izuku's score and the rankings of the top five scores of the exam. At the very top of the ranking was his own name:
No. 1 Midoriya Izuku
Villain Points: 90
Rescue Points: 210
Total: 300
"Not only did you manage to surpass my record, but you blew it out of the water!"
"So, you see, young Midoriya. You've passed!" exclaimed All Might. "I'm going to be waiting for you. This is your Hero Academia!"
Everything stood still for a few seconds as Izuku grinned widely at the hologram. Then, he was suddenly glomped by two people; Nejire and his mom. Nejire buried his face into her chest as she hugged him tightly making him blush like a tomato.
"I knew you could do it, Izu-kun!" She exclaimed loudly, her excitement was palpable.
"Izuukuuuuuu! You did it honeeeeeey!" was what his mother said as she soaked him with her tears.
Meanwhile, Nana was hugging the top of his head.
"I knew ya could do it, Izuku!" Yu exclaimed happily as she joined the hug too.
Izuku was a little disappointed that Ryukyu hadn't hugged him too. He looked at her as she stepped in and took his hand into hers.
"I knew you could do it. I'm really proud of you, Midoriya. You're going to be a great hero."
Ryukyu said with a beautiful beaming smile that could replace the sun. Izuku blushed more as he saw that. It was more than enough substitute for a hug. Izuku knew that this was only the start of his dream, and his career as a hero.

AN: (OLD)
Well, another chapter and faster than expected.
This chapter covered the U.A. Entrance Exam and Izuku getting his acceptance letter. Kinoko makes her first appearance too.
Hopefully, you liked the changes with the Entrance Exam.
If someone is wondering "Why are Izuku's rescue points so high?" Simple. In canon, Izuku got 60 points for defending only Ochako and engaging the Zeo pointer didn't have a penalty. Here, Izuku saved everyone in that area with him from real danger. Then there are the rescue scenarios. A lot is going on in those. Not only the points announced for each scenario, but how you do them counts, and in situations where there is a choice (like between saving a cat for more points vs a collapsed building situation for far fewer points) their choices affect what they get and there is a big chance that the examinee might actually lose points.
So Bakugo despite getting more villain points than canon (not shown) for example, loses some points because of how he handled some situations or because he chose X instead of Y.
That's why, there are students who got more points than him in total, despite getting fewer villain points.
Yu and Ryuko finally discover that each one of them has a green little friend that the other didn't know about.
We also see a glimpse of the MLA. I'm treating them as a real threat, and they have some inspiration from Magneto. Their interference here and basically wanting to find out the strongest between the examinee is inspired by X-Men Evolution.
MLA isn't going to be abandoning their goal and ideology because some manchild NEET mocked them and decided THAT was leadership material. I fucking hate that arc and its trash ending.
Next chapter is U.A. trying to figure out what happened, Izuku and Nejire go out on a 'not-date', AM and Nana finally meet, and a surprise appearance from a surprise character. Then there is HPSC being their asshole selves.
Update date is between tomorrow and the I-have-no-idea.
Anyway, hope that you liked the chapter. Please follow, favourite and review.
