Chapter 30 Spear vs Shield

Later at night, many nobles and other people came to the castle for a banquet that commemorate the Heroes triumph against the Wave, with music and a many enjoying the feast.

At a table together was Naofumi's group and they were eating eating or not.

Naofumi wasn't enjoying it since they were partying without a care in the world.

"Hey Naofumi."He looks at Shun."I know how your feeling but we're the true Heroes and no one can say otherwise."

"I guess, but that King."Naofumi said.

"Yeah, he's not trust worthy."Shun said with Jin and Mitsuki a agreeing.

Naofumi just looks away, he still doesn't trust them since he already did that once and it backfired on him.

"Master Naofumi."The guys turn around and see Raphtalia, who was holding a glass, she now looked slightly older and her attire changed as well, now having cream colored tunic with black lines. "The food here is amazing. You sure you don't want something to eat?"

"If you wanna eat, go ahead." Naofumi answered.

"I'd really like for you to join me-"

"I'll pass." He interrupted her, causing her to frown before she go towards somewhere else.

"A simple no would do."Jin said making him grunt.

"Are you sure you don't want some food?"They saw Raphtalia."How about you try a little bit for me?"

"No thanks-"Naofumi tried to say but she puts a piece of cake in front of him using a fork.

"Come on, try it. It's good, I promised."The demihuman insisted as Naofumi reluctantly eats the cake from the former's fork."See?"

"It wasn't that hard."Jin said.

"One thing, why is being called a degenerate a compliment for you?"Naofumi asked Jin.

"Oh that, well you see I'm a wrestler."Jin said.

"Seriously?"The guys said with Raphtalia confused.

"That's right and I have a team called D-Generation X where we are called degenerates but Hell, if they call us that we'll take it and have fun."Jin said.

They took a title meant to mock them and they just roll with it. Naofumi was surprised.

Shun chuckles but then he saw Motoyasu going towards them."What does that douche want?"

"Naofumi." Motoyasu called as the aforementioned person turned towards him. "Let's fight."

Jin noticed Malty nearby smirking. She's behind this that bitch.

"I've heard you made poor Raphtalia your slave."Motoyasu told him."And you made her obey your every command."

"And what do you care?"Naofumi said.

"Watch your tone."Motoyasu retorted.

"Yeah, Raphtalia's my loyal slave."Naofumi said."So what's it to you?"

"You listen up! You can't be saying you think it's okay to enslave others!"

"Do you even hear yourself right?"Naofumi asked rhetorically."In this crazy place, slavery is legal. And besides, she's been a great help to me."

"But we're Heroes in this world! We shouldn't behave like that here and you know it!" Motoyasu argued.

"Gee, I wonder who I got that from?"Naofumi deadpanned, causing Motoyasu to become furious, he then pointed his spear towards the Shield Hero.

"Let's do this." Motoyasu told him. "If I win, you'll set Raphtalia free!"

"And if I win?" Naofumi asked.

"Then it won't happen."Motoyasu said."And if it does happen, it will stay the same."

"What kind of bet is that?!"Jin said."Theres nothing to gain on our side, why should we risk Raphtalia?"

"Yeah as if I fight you."Naofumi then leaves.

"Hey wait for us."Mitsuki said with the guys following him.

"Master Naofumi!"Raphtalia runs after them.

But then a group of knights stopped them

"It has been brought to my attention..." The king said as he looked towards Naofumi. "You, a Hero, have been using a demihuman as your slave to fight for you! You have violated the customs! And that is incomprehensible!" He said before looking towards the girl with a smile but the riders knew that was fake.

You are to accept the duel right this moment!" The king threatened the Shield Hero.

"Hey! They didn't need to fight! I'm with Master Naofumi out of my own free will-" Raphtalia said before a knight used his hand to stop her from talking and at the same time, taking her hostage.

"Leave her alone!"Naofumi said.

"Poor creature."The king said to Raphtalia. "You must've been placed under the Shield Hero's curse."

A Knight tries to get Jin but only to get super kicked in the face sending him down.

Everyone got surprised at that and the King said:"How dare you assault him!"

"I don't think so, he was trying to grab me, those over there saw that."He points at the table behind him and they nodded."So it was self defense."

Two other knights tried to grab Mitsuki and Shun but Shun elbows one in the gut and Mitsuki goes around the guy giving him a light chop on the neck knocking him out.

"What kind doctor knows martial arts."Naofumi said stunned.

"Doctor?"Ren and Itsuki looked at Mitsuki.

"We know that Raphtalia isn't being mistreated, that is a fact."Mitsuki glares at him.

"What do you know, your just hired brutes, so your opinion is invalid."King said.

"You know, we're not the ones holding her hostage and covering her mouth, if you truly care about her then you should let her explain but wait your own grudge is just too big."Shun said and he could sense the spirit of the eyecons that are rulers angry at the King.

"I would watch what I would say if I were you."King said.

"Or what, fatty."Jin smirks making everyone else outside of his team gasp.

"You better choose your actions wisely, Shield Hero."The king said."Accept the duel or your accomplices and the slave shall be executed."

Naofumi grunts and said:"Fine."

At a arena

The group was there with Motoyasu and Naofumi facing against each other, at the side lines were Malty at Motoyasu side, behind Naofumi was the guys since they didn't get captured but Raphtalia was being held hostage, she was tied up and gagged.

"Sir Motoyasu! Best of luck!" The redhead girl cheered for the aforementioned Hero.

"Will do, Myne!" Motoyasu said and he looks at Naofumi."Remember the folktale about the Irresistible Spear and the Immovable Shield?"Motoyasu twirled his spear around for bit before stopping."Naofumi! Be a man and admit defeat!"

"A true doesn't know the meaning of surrender."Shun said."You can do it Naofumi."

Ready? Begin!" The referee shouted.

Motoyasu proceeded to charge towards Naofumi with his spear before he jumped and thrust his spear towards his opponent, who blocked the strike, the Spear Hero decided to strike again and again, but all of his attacks are blocked.

"Not too bad, guess the Shield Hero has a few moves."Motoyasu said.

"You got that right." Naofumi replied, still blocking Motoyasu's spear with his shield. "So in this folktale battle between a spear and a shield... Did you know that the spear actually lost when it couldn't pierce the shield?"He pushed the Spear Hero back, but Motoyasu jumped backwards.

His spear glowed as he aimed it towards Naofumi.

"Chaos Spear!" Motoyasu said as he thrust forward, causing several small projectile launched from it.

The guys saw Naofumi dodge but he got hit on the sides.

"Come on."Shun said.

Jin looks at Malty and said:"Excuse me."He goes off surprising the duo.

Naofumi then punches at Motoyasu not doing much damage.

"He's trying to strike using the shield."Malty said smugly."That'll never work-"She stopped herself when she saw something in Motoyasu.

"What!?" Motoyasu exclaimed as he looked down and saw an orange balloon monster biting his stomach.

"A balloon!? Used as a battle weapon!?"The redhead girl exclaimed.

Naofumi smirks and opens his cloak revealing more balloons bitting him

"Tell me... What the hell are you up to?!" Motoyasu growled.

"If it's true that I can't win, I'm gonna hurt you as much as I possibly can!" Naofumi said and he throws more at him.

"Like Hell!"Motoyasu popped another ballom and charges at Naofumi who blocks the spear with his shield.

Naofumi's shield became the Two Headed Dog Shield, the dog heads attack Motoyasu pushing him back.

"Air Strike Shield!"He sends a energy sheild at Motoyasu hitting him away.

He throws more balloons and uses rope shield."Shield Prison."He traps Motoyasu with the balloons making him scream in pain.

"Yeah he's doing it."Mitsuki said and he looks to the other side and got shocked.

Motoyasu was now out and charges foward with Naofumi.

"Naofumi look out!"Mitsuki screams but it was too late as a wind blast from Malty hits him making Motoyasu stab him.

The guys got shocked and Shun said:"Time out!"He goes foward surprising everyone.

"What now?"Motoyasu said.

"Who gave you the right to stop this duel!"Malty said.

"Simple you cheated against Naofumi."Shun said while Mitsuki looks at Naofumi's injury.

Motoyasu then laughs."Wow what sore losers."

"No."Jin comes back holding a orb.

"Where did you get that?!"Malty demanded.

"Someone dropped it, but it also helped me showing this."Jin uses it to show a recording of Malty shooting Naofumi surprising the crowd.

"What, no that must be a fake."Motoyasu denied.

"No, it showed what happened a few seconds ago."Jin said.

"I only did that because he was cheating."Malty said.

"That was appart of his shield."Mitsuki said."You are not, so the winner is Naofumi."

"I won't accept this!"King roars at them."You can't decide the winner!"

"Why not, is it because it's your daughter that you are turning a blind eye, Naofumi fought fair, these two did not, but if your not accepting it, how about this since Naofumi can't fight the Spear Hero fights one of us."Jin said with the riders glaring at them.

"Ha fine, i'll take the one in red."Motoyasu said.

Jin goes foward while the guys took Naofumi away from the ring.

"It's time that you go down."Jin said and he takes out Incursio.

"You think you can beat the spear Hero."Malty mocks him.

"Oh yes I can, Incursio!"Jin yells and he gets covered in a red orb wearing his suit of armor.

Everyone was stunned and amazed while Malty and the king were shocked.

"Where did he get something like that?!"King said.

Motoyasu puts his spear foward."That trick won't stop me."He charges at him but Jin blocks the spear with ease using his own."What?!"

Jin lifts up a fist and punches Motoyasu away, Motoyasu got up and attacks."Chaos Spear!"He shoots at him but Jin swats it away to the sky shocking the Spear Hero."But how?"

Jin then knees him in the gut making him spit before punching him away, Jin charges foward and starts to punch at Motoyasu many times making him grunt.

Malty had enough and shoots a fire magic at Incursio but the attack had no effect, she got surprised and blasts him many times but he didn't even noticed.

"She's not even trying to hide it."Itsuki said.

"Yes, she's cheating without a care."Ren said.

"But where did that guy got that suit of armor?"Itsuki was curious.

Jin then punches him in the face."That's for insulting us."He gives him a right hook breaking a tooth."That's for having Raphtalia as a hostage and this..."He raises a leg charging up with red energy."Is for stabbing Naofumi!"He kicks Motoyasu in the face knocking him to a wall, he was out of the ring before failing to the floor.

"I win."Jin said.

He goes to Raphtalia and frees her.

"Who gave you-"Jin glares at the King stopping him.

Motoyasu got up slowly."What happened?"

"Excuse me."Raphtalia goes towards Motoyasu and slaps him surprising everyone."How dare you, I never asked for your help."

"But wasn't he abusing you?"Motoyasu said.

"No, master Naofumi never did, he only used the marking when I was too scared to fight."She said.

"But you shouldn't be forced to fight."Motoyasu said.

"I chose to help him, you only care about fame and glory, Naofumi, Jin, Mitsuki and Shun are my friends and I would be with them for as long as I live, if you cared about saving slaves you would have other Demi humans at your side."Raphtalia said.

"Why you Demi human..."Malty said.

Raphtalia goes to Naofumi and hugs him surprising the guy."I would never leave you."

The guys went to his side and put they're hands on him.

"Yeah, you can trust us."Shun said.

"We won't ever betray you instead we'll fight with you."Mitsuki said.

"Why are you doing this?"Naofumi said.

"We're friends of course."Jin said."And friends stick together."

Naofumi was stunned and he then saw a message.

Friendship series unlocked.

Jin changes back and he heard a voice."Jin!"

They saw Iris and Hiroshi run towards him.

"Hiroshi, Iris."He smiles.

"Shun."Kathy and Wendy came.

"Kathy, Wendy."Shun said.

Then Poppy appears behind Mitsuki."I'm here too."

"Poppy!"Mitsuki said.

"Who are they?"Naofumi said.

"Our own friends, and more help for us even."Jin said.

"Wait, you must be careful, he's a devil that rapes women."Motoyasu said trying to get to the girls but Iris kicks him away.

"Don't touch us."Iris said.

Jin and Hiroshi went foward and they put on they're DX shirts.

"You know what, since you got angry just because your prized hero lost than it's time that we show you that you don't mess with us."Jin said to the King.

"And if your now down with that we got two words for you."Hiroshi said.

"And what's that?"King said mad.

"Suck it!"Jin, Hiroshi and Iris said surprising the crowd and making the King angry.

The group laughed while Naofumi smiles a bit, they then helped him up to get some medical attention.

Note:Now all three of them are in the same timeline now, soon they're will be more chapters for each of them.
