Chapter 79 What a Croc!

Mitsuki was walking down the sewers to reach the lair of the turtles.

"Always gotta find the path here." He said.

Mitsuki arrives and he saw the guys and Venus there, along with Carol sitting on the couch.

"Oh hey." Mitsuki said.

"Shhh." Splinter said as he and Leo wacthed the news.

"Meanwhile, in other news, an unexplained wave of gang activity is sweeping through the boroughs of New York. How long before they knock on your door? We'll have the full story when Channel 9 News returns." The reporter said.

"What brings you here at this late?" Venus asked.

"Why is Carol here first?" Mitsuki asked.

"She wanted to come so she's staying today." Venus said.

"Well I did a long shift so i'm quick nap here." Mitsuki said.

"Ah, yes your job is hard." She nodded.

Mitsuki saw Mikey scare Don making him point a torch at him.

"Whoa. Easy, partner. Don't shoot." He said.

"Mikey, never sneak up on a turtle while he's welding." Don said.

Mitsuki noticed what he was making and Venus said: "Donatello has been working on it."

"Yeah, I love what he did with the place." Mikey said.

"Yeah, go ahead. Make jokes, Mikey. But when I'm using this underwater access way to cruise the river in a submersible, you're going to miss out on some fun. Unless you make yourself useful and help." Don said.

Mikey then yawns. "Suddenly I feel sleepy."

Don hits him in the chest, Mikey then puts on a diving helmet and Don shows a metal pipe.

"This cross brace will secure the access way and ensure its stability. So, you know what you're supposed to do, right?" Don asked Mikey.

"Yep. I'm supposed to swim in cold river water when I should be in a warm, cozy bed." Mikey said.

"Right." Don nodded at him.

Michelangelo dives into the water, splashing his brother in the process. "Ah! Chucklehead."

Michelangelo swims to the bottom and begins welding on the spot. Something swims past while his back is turned, and it's moving very fast.

"Huh?" He noticed it.

He turns on his helmet light and aims it down a tunnel. In the distance he spots a very large crocodile. This is the viewers first good look at Leatherhead. The crocodile notices the light.

"What in the shell?" Mikey got surprised.

The creature begins swimming towards him making Michelangelo shout and switches off the helmet light before quickly moving into hiding. When the crocodile reaches the spot where Michelangelo had been, he looks around and then swims upwards towards the lair.

Mikey was hidding behind some bars. "Remember what Master Splinter said. Fade into the surroundings."

The creature spots Michelangelo's air hose and bites it, cutting off the turtle's air supply. Michelangelo gasps when he realizes it.

"Get a grip. Get a grip."

The creature comes back and Mikey got worried as it stares at the darkness.

"Relax, slow down. Fade into the surroundings."

Don noticed the air bubbles. "What's that goob doing now?"

Mitsuki saw that. "He's drowning get him out of there!"

Don got shocked and pulls the lever, the creature attacks Mikey but he got pulled away as he was brought back to the lair.

Mikey takes off the helmet gasping for air. "Get the others! You guys aren't gonna believe this!"

The group were together as Mikey explained what happened. "So I was, like . . . and it was all . . . and I'm like . . . . Then it got all . . . . And then it was all roar, roar."

"Cuckoo." Raph said.

"Crazy." Don said.

"Hold up, guys. Raph, remember that albino croc we tangled with years ago? Mike's croc could actually exist." Leo said.

"Yes, plus look at this." Mitsuki lifts the air pipe. "These are teeth marks."

"It does exist. And it's all . . . And . . . And . . ." Mikey said.

"We should have seen it coming, bro. You're one rib short of a barbecue." Raph said.

"Look, I know what I saw. There's a huge ugly reptile in the sewers. And for once it's not you, Raph. And I'll prove it to you. I'm going back down there and find that thing." Mikey was determined.

"If you're serious, take this porpoise device." Don reveals a breathing mask and tank. "I made it to explore some of the underwater passageways. It's got a built-in camera and a transmitter. And I put a two-way radio in the mask. We'll be able to see and hear your mystery croc on here. If it exists."

Mikey puts it on. "Stay tuned, guys, as Mikey TV takes you on a croc hunt."

He swims back down as the others watched through a computer, Mikey managed to find it and chases it up.

"The chase is on. You guys seeing this?" Mikey asked as he watches the creature walk foward.

"I take it back, Mikey. You're not insane. Well, not completely." Raph said.

Mikey follows it and hides behind some cover. "Check it out, guys. Big, dark and scaly is living in our old lair."

The creature was next to a machine as he puts down a device on a table.

He then puts on a lab coat and glasses while talking to someone. "You were right, my friend. Oh, so right. The remaining component was exactly where you said. Now I can complete my task for you, and then you can aid me in completing mine, as per our deal. I am so glad I made your acquaintance. I don't mind telling you I've had quite a lot of experience repairing these units. Child's play, really, once you understand the basic principles."

"Well, what do you know? It's just a big crocodile version of Don." Mikey said.

"It is finished, my friend. Why don't you take it for a test drive?" He said.

They looked closely and saw some kind of robot.

"He's got an exoskeleton. I can't really see. But I think . . . I think he's talking to an Utrom." Mikey said.

"An Utrom?" The turtles shouted which caused interference.

The croc heard that and saw Mikey. "An intruder!"

"Get out of there Mikey!" Mitsuki said.

Michelangelo runs out, as Leatherhead breaks through part of a brick wall when trying to reach him. He then makes it to the water.

"We're on my old turf now, and if I remember right, there should be an access cover just about here." He finds it in some dirt.

He takes it off and when the croc came he hits it before diving down the hole making him, try to get it but he was too big.

Mikey then comes out of the water at the other side. "Guys, are you there?"

"Mikey. Where the shell are you? What's happening?" Raph said.

"I'm in the 39th Street runoff. It got a little hairy back there with my reptile pal, but I think I lost him." Raph said.

The creature suddenly bursts up through the water and grabs Michelangelo.

"Mikey!" They screamed before they went out to save him.

The monster rises again, gripping Michelangelo in one hand. He bites the air tank and then throws Michelangelo against the wall.

"Good crocodile. Good crocodile." Mikey dodges his tail.

The crock spins and Michelangelo ducks just in time to avoid his tail. Michelangelo then begins dodging it's attempts to strike him.

"Bad crocodile. Don't make me have to use these. Okay, you asked for it." Mikey said.

He then gets hit by the tail. "Ah! Look, I didn't mean you any harm."

He roars but then the croc stops. "I am sorry. Sometimes I get carried away."

The other turtles and Fuma suddenly arrive in their sewer slider. All of them leaprf out and pull their weapons. Raphael throws a sai, which hits the wall directly in front of Leatherhead, who begins snarling.

"Look, guys, a handbag with claws." Raph said.

"Guys, wait! It's . . . ." Mikey didn't finish as the croc attacks them.

The turtles got pushed back as he grapples with Fuma as the two went back and forth.

"Okay, this was a bad idea." Don said.

"But Mitsuki can handle him." Venus said.

"Let's back him up." Leo said as they went around.

They attacked around as the monster attacks him before he slams Fuma but he grabs him to judo throw him away.

"It seems you learned a few things." Raph said.

"I tried my best." He said.

They pinned him down as Raph goes to use his sai but Mikey stops him. "Will you guys wait a minute? Sorry. Sometimes we get carried away, too. How 'bout a truce?"

He calms down. "You may let go of me. I accept the truce."

Mikey makes a signal and they let him go letting the croc stand up.

"All right, Mikey. But if this croc bites your head off, I don't want to hear any complaining." Leo said.

"Give the guy a chance." Fuma said.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Leatherhead."

"Leonardo."

"Raphael."

"Venus."

"Mitsuki."

"Donatello."

"I'm Mikey."

"Come. It is so very drafty in these sewers. Let us return to my temporary laboratory where we can speak in relative comfort." Leatherhead leads them back.

They arrived back at the old lair and Raph said: "Ah, there's no place like home."

"My sentiments exactly." Leatherhead said.

Don noticed the machine. "Whoa! You're building a transmat?"

"You are familiar with the transmat? Then you know of the Utroms." He said.

"Yes, we knew the Utroms for some time." Fuma said.

"Really? The Utroms are my family. It is a long story. It began when I was little more than a hatchling." He said.

Then Leatherhead tells them his story. "I assumed that I began life as a mere exotic pet which for some cruel human reason was cast into the sewer. Fortunately, I was discovered not by humans, but by the Utroms, who deemed me worthy of further observation. During the course of this observation, I was accidentally exposed to a mutagen the Utroms had created. The mutagen not only changed my physical form, but greatly accelerated my intellectual development. And when the Utroms realized that I had become sentient, they adopted me. I was happy living with the Utroms. They taught me much. Life was good until the humans discovered our base and tried to destroy us."

"My family barely escaped. And I was left behind. But once I finish building this transmat, I will be able to rejoin my family once again."

Leatherhead then sees someone come in. "Ah, my friend has returned. Gentlemen, allow me to introduce to you my good friend."

They saw the robot body of the Utroms with Stockman's head there.

"Baxter Stockman?!" The group said.

"Hey, Stockman, love the new look." Raph said.

"What was wrong? The spider thing not cutting it with the ladies?" Mikey said.

"Hardy-har-har. Leatherhead, my friend. Do you recall the traitors I told you about? It was these turtles who sabotaged the TCRI building. It was these turtles who destroyed the transmat. It was they who caused the Utroms to leave." Baxter said.

"What?" Fuma said.

"Them?" Leatherhead said.

"Yes, yes, them, them!" He said.

"No he lies!" Fuma said.

"Yeah." Mikey said.

"These green gnomes are why I had you build our little you-know-what. And now we can put it to work." Stockman goes to a box and takes out many parts.

They then merged forming a robot turtle.

"Donny, what in the shell is that?" Raph said.

"I'm not sure. But it doesn't look good." He said.

The turtlebot bows to them and then scans Donatello, then it challenges him.

"Allow me." Don said.

He attacks the turtlebot, it forms a staff in order to counter his moves. After fighting for a moment, the turtlebot defeats Donatello and scans Leonardo.

Leonardo attacks as it as they clashed blades before knocking him away, Venus came and it scans her.

It gets fans to attack her as she dodges but it defeats her too, Raph jumps up as the robot scans him.

It makes sais to clash with Raphael before it also defeats him knocking Raph back.

"It will just adapt." Fuma takes his sword out.

The robot scans him too and Stockman said: "It's also prepared for you."

It takes out a sword and clashes with Fuma as they went around.

"So what do we do?" Leo said.

"Something unexpected." Don said as Raph goes behind Leo.

He then takes his swords.

"Can I borrow these for a second?" He goes to attack.

Turtlebot sees him and takes out the sais to fight but Raph pushes him back and slashes a arm off.

"Master Splinter always says we must train in every weapon form. It's time to put in a little practice." Leonardo trades Raphael's sais to Donatello for his bō staff.

"It's time to put in a little practice." He attacks the robot with the staff pushing it back.

Don spins the sais but he drops one. "Oops." He throws the other and it stabs the robot in the back.

Mikey traded with Venus as he slashes with the fans before she smashes the robot with the nunchuks knocking it's head off.

"Play time is over." Raphael said.

"You're so right. I am done playing." Baxter rips out of a piece of the wall and throws it at them.

Fuma cuts it and charges at him grappling with Stockman.

"I'll be happy to finish you off personally. I can't count how many times you meddlesome freaks robbed me of my revenge when I was working for the Shredder. But this time nothing will stop me." Stockman said.

"The Shredder?" Leatherhead got mad.

"Huh?" He said.

Leatherhead grabs his arm. "You work for the Shredder?" He grabs it's neck. "He was the Utroms' most hated enemy. You weren't intending to help me with the transmat. You used me."

Leatherhead roars scaring Stockman, they struggle and Stockman manages to back away.

"Very well. You pathetic freaks can all perish together." He goes to a air tank. "Believe me, I am doing evolution a big favor."

He tosses the air tank at the group, it hits the wall and explodes causing the walls and ceiling start to crumble.

"Leatherhead! Look out!" Don said.

The ceiling started to fall and he holds on to it.

"Guys, we gotta get out of here now!" Don told them.

They ran but Mikey goes to Leatherhead. "Leatherhead, come with us! Forget about this place."

"No. If I do not have the transmat, if I cannot be with the Utroms, then life is meaningless." He said.

"Leatherhead, please." Mikey said.

"Mikey!" Leo calls out.

"Come on!" Don said.

"Leave me . . . my friend." Leatherhead.

"Michelangelo!"

"Move it!" Raph said.

Michelangelo runs just as the ceiling falls. Everyone made it out safely into the sewers and the tunnel completely collapses behind them.

"Poor Leatherhead." Mikey said.

"He was a hero." Fuma looks down.

"Can you imagine being that alone?" Leonardo said.

"You know, things may get rough at times, but at least we have each other." Don said.

"Yes." Venus nodded.

The group left the place where Leatherhead once was.

Note: Heres the Leatherhead ep with Fuma helping out, the turtlebot fight went different as Venus was there so she and Mikey switched weapons.
