"Mmm…" Shez mumbled at she had sat down on a bench with her Rockruff hopping on and resting his head on her lap.
"Something on your mind?"
Shez looked over to see Marnie approaching with a milkshake in her hand. "Yeah… I'm just… thinking."
"What's up?"
"Oh… it's… aheheh… kinda silly…"
"You can tell me."
"Weeeell… I've been… trying to work up the courage to… ask a certain someone out…"
"Is it Edelgard?"
Shez blushed a deep red. "How'd you know it was-?!"
"Lucky guess. That and I sometimes overhear you saying "I wonder if I should ask Edelgard out"."
Shez sweatdropped. "I could've sworn I was quiet enough…" She sighed. "But yes, it's Edelgard. It's funny, we hardly interacted in that Grimm world with Dark Ruby, but I couldn't help but admire her… which she said the same thing to me. And then there was the whole invasion with Eggman and the fact that I couldn't stop thinking about her… aaaagh! I don't know what to do!"
"Oh, someone's smitten~"
"Y-yeah… I am…" Shez blushed. "I haven't gotten around to asking her yet…"
"Well, how about that. Someone who's completely calm, collected and cool in the battlefield is incredibly shy around a certain individual." She playfully teased.
"Oh sh-shut up…" Shez mumbled before sighing. "We exchanged numbers at least, but…" She pulled out her phone. "The thing is though, I don't even know how to ask her out properly. I've never been on a date before! Seriously… what counts as a date exactly?"
"You seriously don't know?" A voice asked as the girls turned to see Dark Pit approaching. "It's basically when two individuals go out to a fancy restaurant, talk for a few hours while sipping wine and then they go to either house and proceed to have sex for a while."
"S-Sex…?" Shez's face went beet red to the point where steam came out of her ears. "Oh gods, that's way too fast!"
"...That's only in raunchy romance movies." Marnie said, giving Dark Pit a "not helping" glare.
"What? It's totally true."
"Dates are more than… that." Marnie chimed in. "They don't always have to be romantic dinners. They can just be going out to a park, spend the night together stargazin' or watching a movie at either the theater or your home-"
"And that's where you watch cheesy romance flicks." Dark Pit said.
"Meh… it doesn't have to be. It can be any genre you feel like at the time."
"Let me guess, your type of genre is horror." Dark Pit said.
"Actually… not really. That's Gloria's favorite. I'm more of the fantasy and sci fi type of gal."
"Fantasy?" Dark Pit looked over at the Galarian Punk. "Well, that explains why you never get rid of the dress that you're wearing."
"It's grown on me. Plus, I think it's cute and totally fittin' for a punk like me."
"You know it'd complete the look if you had a Galarian Moltres."
"I would, but Nyx already has it. And I'm not gonna just steal it from her. I ain't Team Rocket."
Dark Pit rolled his eyes. "Right…"
"C-Can we just go back on the subject regarding dates? I don't even know what to do!"
"What I suggest is you take it nice and slow. Both of ya are interested in each other, so… just keep it simple and at your own pace. And just be yourself too."
"What? No, she's got to dress to impress." Dark Pit said.
"She's fine the way she is!"
"You're forgetting that Edelgard is an empress. If she wants to score Edelgard, she has to look the part."
"The hell-... I'm pretty sure Edelgard wouldn't mind a casual look."
"This coming from a top commander of Bowser's army."
"What's that gotta do with anything? I'm sure Edelgard wouldn't mind Shez lookin' like herself."
"Everyone's gotta dress to impress if they want to score a significant other."
"I dunno, I was pretty much myself when I first kissed Gloria. Our dates are typically casual anyway… especially when we go out to eat. Casual clothing is the way to go."
"Well, maybe that works for you and the Scottish lady, but I'm telling ya… you gotta dress up. That'll definitely turn Edelgard's head."

"Guys! GUYS!" Shez got between the two. "I appreciate that you're trying to help me here but… I… I think I'm fine the way I am… although maybe a change of clothes wouldn't hurt. I've been hanging around the lava pools a lot and just kept sweating through them."
"I can help with that." A voice said as Merasmus approached. "Pardon me for stepping in but I couldn't help but overhear that you were trying to go on a date with a certain Edelgard?"
"You too?" Shez sighed.
"Well… I've heard you mumble her name a few times in your sleep before I retired for the night myself."
"You've been dreaming about her?" Dark Pit gave her a teasing smirk. "Looks like you have her figured out."
"Mmmmm…" Shez blushed deeply.
"Oh knock it off, Pittoo…" Marnie shook her head with a sigh.
"Allow me to help you with a change of clothes." Merasmus waved his wand around. "Heruto clothaka blingodo!"
Magic struck Shez's clothing as it had transformed into an orange tank top with Bowser's symbol on the front and she wore baggy brown shorts. She was also wearing a few bracelets and a choker with a diamond hanging from it.
"How… do I look?" Shez wondered as Merasmus pulled out a mirror. "...Oh!"
"Yeah, you don't look that bad at all." Marnie smiled.
"Way too casual for a date, in my opinion."
"It's not all about being formal." Marnie argued.
"You kidding? All the other "dates" you described are just hang outs, nothing more."
Marnie sweatdropped. "Talk about old fashioned. I'm pretty sure Ruby and Pit's dates are exactly like that."
Dark Pit pulled out his phone. "I'll prove it to you." He said and called up Pit. "Hey Pit, it's me. Just curious. What kind of dates do you go on with Ruby? …Uh-huh. I see. Okay. Just curious."
He hung up on him.
"Well?"
"Those two are a lost cause."
Marnie sighed. "Or they just like to have fun and not just be stuck with dinners every date they go on."
"Soooo… do I just text her…?" Shez wondered. "What do I even say?"
"Be formal. Don't be aggressive. Be assertive. Tell her what you want to do with her and you'll be picking her up at the exact time."
"Oooooooor you can just be casual about the text and be yourself." Marnie chimed in.
Dark Pit rolled his eyes. "Youth these days…"
"The hell is that supposed to mean?"
"Now now, I'm sure there can be a fair balance between the two." Merasmus said.
While the trio argued and Jasper let out a soft whine while curled up on Shez's lap, the mercenary let out a groan.
"Mind if I make a suggestion?" Arval asked.
I'm all ears…
With some instruction from Arval, Shez typed away.
"You. Me. Ice Cream at Toad Town. Sound good?"
…I dunno, that seems way too straight forward. Shez thought as she looked at the text.
"Mmm, you might be right…"
"Why in Arceus' name would you wear a tuxedo for a movie?"
"You gotta look your best if you want to impress your date!"
"Ooooh yeah, let's just have buttered popcorn ruin the tuxedo if any falls out of your hand! Then what are you gonna do?"
"Clean it up, duh!"
"Another point: Why would you even wear a tuxedo for a simple walk in the park? Or Stargazin'?"
"Those aren't dates! Those are simply hang outs!"
"I dunno… feels like a date to me. Gloria and I did that in Galar one time. It was pretty magical."
"For you simple minded folk, it might be. I'm more of a sophisticated person."
"Ha! Sophisticated… that's hysterical."
"Personally, I'd say Pittoo is a professional-" Merasmus chimed in.
"Thank you!"
"-...In being foul mouthed."
"What?!"
"Thank you!" Marnie said with her hands raised.
"SHIT!" Shez yelped as they turned to her. "I didn't mean to send that…"
"What'd you send?" Marnie wondered as she took a look.
"You. Me. Ice Cream at Toad Town. Sound good?"
"Ooof…" Marnie grimaced.
"Straight to the point. Nice." Dark Pit smirked.
At that moment, Edelgard responded, causing Shez to stiffen. "Oh crap, she responded!"
"So straightforward! I've been wondering when you'd set up a date. That sounds lovely. Meet you at the courtyard?"
Without even hesitating, Shez immediately replied with "Yes".
"Wait wait wait wai-"
Shez hit the send button, causing Dark Pit to groan.
"Great! I'll be waiting for you!"
"What? Did I do something wrong?"
"You shouldn't have responded right away. Give it time to fester. Make her think you're not desperate. Make her wonder! Make her desire your response. The more time you make her wait, the better. Make her want you!"
"You are in desperate need to get laid…" Marnie mumbled under her breath. "Every relationship's different. Gloria and I immediately respond after we text each other, although if one of us are in the shower, or taking a nap or… in a Pokemon battle, then we text each other later with "Sorry, I was taking a nap" or whatever. There's nothing wrong with immediate responses."
"Ah… if I may…" Merasmus spoke up. "Perhaps, as Lady Marnie had suggested, just be yourself and you should be okay."
"Right." Shez nodded. "Alright, let's head off to Adrestia!"
She called out her Nosepass as they quickly set off.
"...You think we ought to help point her in the right direction?" Dark Pit asked.
"I think she knows where her world is." Marnie said.
"Yes, but the Smash Mansion is south of here. She's going east."
Marnie groaned. "She really is hopeless with directions…" She turned around. "Hey Shez, wait up!"

One change of directions later…
Shez walked over to the castle, looking at it in awe. "Whew… that's definitely imposing."
"There you are!" A voice said as Shez looked down to see Edelgard dressed up in a casual red T-shirt and blue jeans. "You ready to go?"
"Uh… uuuuuuh…" Shez blushed a deep red as she stiffly pulled out a bouquet of flowers. "Th-This is for you!"
"Oh, how lovely." Edelgard smiled as she took a sniff… to which one of the flowers tried to nip at her. "Oh!"
"Ack! Sorry!" Shez pulled away.
Nearby in some bushes, Marnie, Dark Pit and Merasmus was watching.
"Remind me why you gave her a bouquet of Piranha Plants?" Marnie asked.
"I've seen Bowser holding them like that, so I thought it was the right choice of flowers." Merasmus whispered.
"I would've just given her a Roselia…" Marnie mumbled.
"Excuse me for a sec." Edelgard walked off, putting the Piranha Plant bouquet in a vase and then walked back, taking Shez's hand. "Come on, I think we can get there a bit faster if I took the lead~" She said, playfully winking at her.
Shez felt her heart pound out of her chest the moment their hands touched. The moment she winked at her? Her face felt extremely hot.
"O-okay!" Shez nodded as the two of them walked off together.
Once at Toad Town…
"I feel like we need a disguise so it's not… too obvious that we're spying on them." Marnie said.
"I know just the solution for that." Merasmus lifted his staff in the air. "Transformoko Blazakracka!"
The ladies found the ice cream shop.
"No dogs allowed!" The sign said.
Shez frowned before petting her Rockruff and tied him up to a pole. "Stand guard, okay?"
"Roof!" Jasper saluted as he kept watch while Shez and Edelgard walked inside.
Across the street, a pine tree, a trash can and a blue bird were across the ice cream shop.
"And now we watch undetected." Merasmus said as he was the pine tree.
"...This is great and all, but why do I gotta be the trash can!" Dark Pit said.
"It was not my idea."
"Shh! Focus! The two are getting their ice cream." Marnie said. "...Goodness, is this what it feels like to have feathers?"
Inside as the ladies paid for the ice cream, Shez walked over to the ice cream machines. "Hmm… oh, this looks good." Shez grabbed a cup and started going for a vanilla and chocolate swirl.
…But her mind was also on Edelgard.
Goodness, she's so pretty even when she's casual! Okay, focus… deep breath… no need to be so nervous… you're just on a date. …Said date being a very attractive Empress. Agh! She's way out of my league!
"...Shez?"
Yeah?
"You… going for a world record?"
What do you mean?
"Look!"
Shez looked down, seeing that she had unwittingly made an ice cream tower in the cup.
"Oh!" Shez blushed as she pulled away. "Ahehehe… well, this ice cream isn't gonna eat itself." She turned around….
Splat!
…Aaaand accidentally bumped into Edelgard and dropped the towering ice cream on top of her.
"Oh!" Shez put her cup down and put her hands over her mouth in horror. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!"
Edelgard said nothing as she licked the ice cream off her face. "Don't apologize. I should be the one who needs to."
"H-huh?"
"I was so lost in thought wondering what ice cream to eat that I hadn't realized I was standing directly behind you." She said. And… well, admiring you from behind, but let's not get into that.
"Ahehehe… I didn't mean to make the ice cream so tall…" Shez blushed. This is a disaster!
"It happens." Edelgard smiled sweetly, which caused Shez's heart to beat out of her chest again.
That damn smile again… why must it be so gorgeous!
"Excuse me a moment." Edelgard walked into the bathroom to clean herself up… and then placed her hands on the sink.
Oh my gosh, I'm so nervous! I've been through countless suitors and none of them were right for me… and yet Shez… oh gosh… she's so cute! Focus! This date just had a bit of a curveball with that ice cream falling on me. I should have paid more attention!
She took a deep breath.
Deep breath… you got this. You're a confident Empress. You're the Summer Maiden. You got this!
Edelgard resumed cleaning up her shirt and then reached for the door, before freezing.
Oh gods, how did Byleth do this! Was she a nervous wreck too? Was Dorothea in shambles at one point? You idiot, I should've asked them for dating advice!
She shook her head.
Get your act together! It's far too late for that. Just be yourself, act natural like you've talked with other friends. You've got this!
Edelgard walked out of the door and met up with Shez with a much smaller serving of ice cream. Edelgard went with simply chocolate as they walked to a table together, sitting close to the window and in front of the trio that were watching them.
"Showtime!" Merasmus said.
BGM: Respite and Sunlight (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)
"I'm gonna be honest… I've… never been on a date before." Shez said.
"Is that why you looked so nervous?"
Shez grimaced. "Was it that obvious?"
Edelgard giggled. "It's okay… I'm… truthfully, a bit nervous too."
"Wait, you?" Shez asked.
"I've had many suitors ask me for my hand in marriage but I always declined because it always had felt… arranged. But being on this date with you? …I'm… nervous."
"How can you be nervous? You're the Empress of Adrestia, you're-" She quickly lowered her voice. "-The Summer Maiden." Her voice went back up again. "You're dripping with confidence, you're absolutely amazing, I'm pretty sure you rule Adrestia confidently, you're drop dead gorgeous and above all el-"
Shez paused, blushing like mad when she realized what she said while Edelgard looked at her in surprise.
"Um… I should stop talking."
"You think I'm gorgeous?" Edelgard asked.
"W-Well… uh… it ki-kinda slipped out and-"
"I think you're pretty." Edelgard smiled, causing Shez to blush hard as she shyly brushed a bang from her face.
"You… you think I'm… I'm pretty…?"
"Yes… and honestly? Admitting that we're both pretty makes me feel calmer."
Shez smiled. "Y-Yeah… I think you're right."
As they continued to make small talk, they were oblivious to what was going on outside with the trio.
A Toad walked by and threw his trash into the garbage.
A lady walked her dog and threw a doggy bag into the trash.
Jasper got off of his leash and pranced on over to the pine tree and proceeded to lift his hind leg to relieve himself, then moved his way back and put his head through the collar like nothing happened.
A wild frisbee nearly hit Marnie.
Another blue bird tried to hit on Marnie, causing her to screech and clawed at the bird to get him to fly off.
A drunken man had gotten way too drunk and proceeded to puke inside the trash can.
A woodpecker flew on over and proceeded to peck the pine tree… only to be zapped by lightning and caused it to fall to the ground.
A squirrel tried to shove a few acorns into the tree, only it too, got zapped.
Dark Pit couldn't take it anymore and proceeded to hop away into a pond with Marnie flew over and patted him on the back as he was cleaning himself off, and it also looked like he was sobbing uncontrollably.
"So um… do you want to take a walk in the park?" Shez asked.
"I'd love that." Edelgard smiled sweetly.
They traveled to the park after finishing their ice cream where they had spent a couple of hours just wandering around and chatting amongst themselves, all the while Marnie and Dark Pit, this time having been transformed into a flower and a park bench.
Merasmus wasn't so lucky… because as he tried to transform into something…
"MERASMUS! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN YOU HAD COME BACK, YOU MAGICAL SON OF A BITCH!"
"Ooooh no…" Meramus groaned.
"Hmm?" Edelgard wondered as she saw a fighting dust cloud between Soldier and Merasmus. "Should we… put a stop to that?"
"I… think they're fine. Best not to get involved."
"Good point. Let's go somewhere else." Edelgard suggested as they walked off together.
"Ow! Ooof! Yow! Ooooh, I hate you so much, Soldier!"
Due to their fighting, the spell wore off between Marnie and Dark Pit, causing them to turn back to normal.
"Sooo… leave him be?" Marnie asked.
"He'll be fine." Dark Pit responded as they walked off.
"No! No wait! Don't leave meeeeeeee!" Merasmus cried as Soldier put him into a headlock and proceeded to violently shake him.
Later, back at Adrestia…
"That was such an enjoyable day. I've had a wonderful time with you." Edelgard smiled.
"Yeah… it really was." Shez smiled with her. "So um… same time… next time?"
"It's a date. Maybe this time I'll come to your house."
"I'll be waiting." Shez giggled.
Edelgard giggled with her. "I'll look forward to another date, Shez."
In a moment, Edelgard leaned forward and kissed Shez on the cheek, causing the latter's eyes to widen while blushing a deep red.
"Take care." Edelgard smiled, winking at Shez and walked off.
"Y-yeah… t-take care…!" Shez stammered as she turned around and walked back home without another word.

Back at Solana Town…
"Soooo, how was your date?" Marnie asked as she and Dark Pit watched her wander into town.
"It was… great… yeah…" Shez said, her face still beet red as she walked into the house.
"Three, two, one." Dark Pit counted.
Shez flopped on her bed and stared at the ceiling… and immediately squealed while hugging her pillow.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I just got kissed on the cheek by the prettiest empress ever! Eeeeeek!" She giggled uncontrollably while Jasper howled happily. "Oh my gosh! This is the best day ever!"
Just outside, Marnie and Dark Pit both chuckled.
"I believe our work here is done." Marnie said as she walked off.
"Yeah." Dark Pit walked away opposite of Marnie. "...Wait. Did she just come back on her own with no trouble whatsoever?"
With Edelgard…
"I can't believe I kissed her… I can't believe I actually did that!" Edelgard laughed while on her bed. "Goodness, she's so pretty…"
She closed her eyes with a soft smile.
She slowly opened them with a glimmer in her eyes.
"I… I think I'm in love…"
Deadpool: I got the microphone!
Ibuki: She's got the guitar!
Deadpool: One two three four!
Ibuki: *starts playing her guitar*
Deadpool: Caaaaan you feeeeel... the looooooove toniiiiight~
*sweatdrops* Never thought I'd hear that song played by electric guitar.
