Chapter 615

Lucien's eyes hadn't left Elain's face, and she watched him in turn as she continued to move. She knew that he liked this; he got that same look in his eyes every time he got to watch her this way. Awe and appreciation, that was what she could see in her mate's face, along with not a small amount of adoration. His breathing was matched to hers, quickening in sync, and Elain reached one of her hands out to gently touch his scarred cheek. Lucien's breath hitched a little and Elain ran her thumb down the scar and along his jaw.

Lucien's magic within Elain flared. She had been right. She could feel it filling her so much more quickly now and she knew that physical contact was one of the key components of their bond. It made sense, she figured. The bond had been driving them toward one another since the beginning and, with that thought, Elain saw flashes of one of the early nights in Rhys' kitchen when she had walked in on Lucien getting a drink. He'd been unable to help touching her when she had gotten close to him, and this really was something that the two of them should experiment further with. Elain wondered what else they would be able to do with the bond once they got used to using it this way.

Heat moved beneath her skin and Elain closed her eyes. She felt Lucien's hands return to her hips, felt him pulling her onto himself, and she let her mind return to the task she needed to complete. There was more of it than she had first realised. Elain bit back a sigh as she noticed blue webbing in every corner of the space she stood in, on every surface. She focused at first on the webbing encroaching on the fire in the centre. Something told her that if it claimed that, there would be no getting rid of it.

Knife in her hand, Elain gripped some of the webbing, feeling it immediately trying to draw energy from her. With Lucien's strength moving through her however, this had little impact on her this time, and she quickly began cutting at the strands.

"Is it… ah… working?" Lucien asked, sounding breathless, and Elain nodded.

"Mhmm…" She felt his hands move up her back slowly before coming back down to her hips. One of those hands slid around to Elain's thigh, and then went between her legs. "Ah!" She felt her whole body jolt, and she leaned forward, shifting the angle of her movements as she braced herself with both hands on Lucien's chest. His hand between her legs continued what it was doing and Elain bit her lip as more searing hot magic flooded her.

She had gotten the blue webbing of Vassa's spell off of the centre of the room and away from the fire of Lucien's core. Turning, she headed for one of the nearby walls. Webbing climbed almost all the way to the roof, almost like insidious vines, and she reached for one of the lower pieces. Elain's hands were shaking with all of the magic she could still feel moving beneath her skin, and she paused to look at them. She had seen Lucien glow before, and now she thought that she could see the same thing happening to her skin. His magic was building within her, gathering quickly, and she knew that it would soon need to be released.

Distantly, she could hear him talking to her, speaking softly, murmuring as he encouraged her on. She could still feel his hand between her thighs, lightning sparking through her as she moved.

Turning away from the wall, Elain faced the rest of the room. Lucien was everywhere in here, she could feel him everywhere, surrounding her, moving beneath her skin. It all continued to build and build within her, and Elain panted, trying to maintain control.

She lost that control an instant later, letting out a cry as the world around her exploded. Elain was aware that a bright light had seemed to burst from her, filling every inch and shadow in the room, but then she had closed her eyes against it. When she opened them, the room seemed to have changed. There was not a single sign of any of the blue web she had been trying to remove. It was as if every bit of it had been obliterated, and Elain drew a breath of surprise.

"Did it work?" Lucien asked, and Elain shook herself a little. Leaning forward, she pressed her lips to her mate's jaw. He was breathing hard, both hands now on her thighs, and she smiled as she nodded, laying her head against his shoulder. "It feels like it did."

"Does it?" her voice was a little shaky as she cuddled more comfortably into her mate.

"Yes. The bond has never felt this… open?"

"Hmm…" Elain hummed a little, tracing her fingers gently across her mate's abdomen. "We really should see what else it can do."
